After Transmigrating As The Film Empress Sister’s Kept Alpha - Chapter 17
At three or four in the afternoon, the western sun poured the lingering heat of late summer into the narrow room. Beyond the half-drawn curtains stood towering trees.
Autumn was approaching but had not yet arrived. Mottled green leaves swayed outside, casting flecks of golden light across the white wall like a moving wallpaper.
A low bed stood inside the room, covered with a spotless white sheet but no blanket. It was neat and clean, its edges pressed into straight lines.
Two white plastic chairs were arranged neatly against the wall, while a wooden coffee table stood beside the window.
Shen Yishu thought Doctor Zhao might have a slight obsessive-compulsive tendency.
The central air conditioner had only just begun running. Its cool air could not yet suppress the heat that had accumulated inside the room, making Shen Yishu want to stand directly beneath the vent and let it dry the sweat on her forehead.
Ji Xiangyu walked over and closed the curtains.
She had suffered because of carelessness when she first entered the industry. Over the years, she had gradually developed the habit of drawing the curtains whenever she entered an unfamiliar place.
They did not turn on the lights.
The blackout lining behind the curtains blocked most of the glaring sunlight, plunging the room into darkness. Only a few thin rays slipped through the gaps between the curtains and the wall, illuminating one corner.
“Come here,” Ji Xiangyu called softly as she sat on the edge of the bed.
Shen Yishu swallowed.
She did not know why she felt so nervous. Her heart was beating rapidly.
They were inside a hospital room, so they would not do anything inappropriate. Yet with only the two of them sharing this dim, cramped space, even their breathing seemed intimate.
Obediently, she walked over and sat beside Ji Xiangyu.
“Sit closer.”
Shen Yishu shifted a little to the left.
Perhaps because of the heat, or perhaps because she was nervous, her palms were covered in sweat. She did not dare wipe them on the spotless bedsheet, so she rubbed them casually against her thighs instead.
“Nervous?”
Seeing her messy movements, Ji Xiangyu could not help laughing.
“It’s because I’m hot,” Shen Yishu denied immediately.
They had already hugged and kissed while filming, not to mention having done something even more intimate.
If merely sitting beside Ji Xiangyu made her nervous, then her mental resilience was truly poor.
“Is this your first time taking a pheromone compatibility test?” Ji Xiangyu asked casually.
“Mm.”
Whether before or after transmigrating, Shen Yishu had always been a thoroughly innocent young Alpha.
“What about you, Sister?” Shen Yishu asked in return.
She was curious.
She and Ji Xiangyu had met fewer than ten times. Had they not been part of the same production, they might never have had another opportunity to meet privately.
“My first time.”
Ji Xiangyu sat with her back to the light. Her eyes appeared dark and unreadable.
Whether it was sleeping beside an unfamiliar Alpha or allowing an Alpha to mark her, both had been firsts in her life.
Shen Yishu froze in shock.
She had assumed Ji Xiangyu wanted to capture someone for an experiment, only to discover that Shen Yishu was not the only test subject.
“Come here and hug me.”
Ji Xiangyu beckoned to her.
Shen Yishu did not dare move.
When Ji Xiangyu had hugged her while feeling unwell, that did not count. It had been an emergency. Had she not held on to Shen Yishu, she would have fallen.
Their embrace on set did not count either. They had been filming.
Shen Yishu had been the heartless Li Jin, while Ji Xiangyu had been Zhou Yi, who was willing to sacrifice everything for love. Once filming ended, neither of them had anything to do with their characters.
But at this moment, Ji Xiangyu was completely conscious.
They had no legitimate reason to embrace.
Such were the thoughts of the innocent young Alpha, Shen Yishu.
Seeing the struggle flash across Shen Yishu’s face, Ji Xiangyu was inwardly astonished.
More and more evidence that “Shen Yishu” was genuinely promiscuous and spoiled had appeared before her, nearly influencing the conclusion she had formed in her heart.
She had brought Shen Yishu to the hospital only to obtain a result.
She desperately wanted to know how compatible their pheromones were for a mere few seconds of exposure to cause her freshly injected suppressant to fail immediately.
It was impossible that Shen Yishu was simply acting exceptionally well.
Ji Xiangyu had spent ten years in the entertainment industry. She could generally distinguish sincerity from performance.
“It hasn’t even been a day, and you’ve already stopped behaving?” Ji Xiangyu sighed, her tone indifferent.
Shen Yishu: “…”
The IOU!
She hurriedly shifted several inches closer.
Her forearm pressed against Ji Xiangyu’s cold arm, and the sensation of an electric shock traveled from her skin to her brain.
Shen Yishu endured it and resisted the urge to move away.
“How would you like to hug, Sister?”
Shen Yishu had casually tied her hair into a low ponytail. Tilting her head, she looked at Ji Xiangyu with bright eyes.
“Just a normal hug is fine.”
Ji Xiangyu lowered her gaze, avoiding the Alpha’s burning stare.
“All right.”
Shen Yishu opened her arms and embraced the slender Omega.
She could not help thinking of an old saying:
Birds died for food, and people died for wealth.
Today, to avoid repaying tens of thousands, she was hugging an Omega she did not like romantically inside a small room.
It was not completely shameless.
Perhaps only eighty percent shameless.
People online only condemned those who arrogantly demanded to be supported.
Shen Yishu was humbly accepting support. Surely no one would criticize her for that!
Her chin rested against the back of Ji Xiangyu’s shoulder.
The Omega extended her arms and hugged her in return.
Thus, an embrace that had begun without the slightest trace of desire was completed.
Ji Xiangyu’s elegant hair carried the sweet citrus fragrance beneath which lay a hint of tartness.
A thin layer of sweat covered the back of her neck. The scent of rosemary blended with the citrus perfume and the cold air from the conditioner.
It was just like Ji Xiangyu herself.
“Sister, why do you like citrus perfumes so much?”
Shen Yishu breathed carefully to avoid inhaling too much of the Omega’s pheromones.
Ji Xiangyu lowered her eyes.
The hands resting behind Shen Yishu’s waist clenched into fists, hovering lightly against the Alpha’s graceful waistline.
She did not answer.
Only after asking did Shen Yishu suddenly realize that questioning someone about their perfume preferences might be too personal.
It seemed almost like attempting to glimpse a secret the other person had deliberately hidden.
“I accepted an endorsement for this brand, and they gave me too many bottles.”
After a long while, Ji Xiangyu offered an excuse filled with obvious holes.
Fortunately, Shen Yishu did not care.
She had only asked random questions to prevent the embrace from developing into anything deeper.
Held within the Alpha’s arms, they were too close together.
Their heartbeats passed through their chests, conveying their emotions to one another.
Their two hearts pressed close behind soft flesh and layers of fabric made from different materials, each expressing a different thought.
Yet both arrived at the same destination.
Their hearts beat rapidly and powerfully, and they were so nervous that even controlling their breathing became difficult.
The scents of rosemary and cedarwood intertwined in the air.
The gas collector beside them emitted a low chime indicating that collection was complete. Its green screen faintly illuminated the sides of their faces.
“It’s finished collecting.”
Shen Yishu spoke as though a heavy burden had been lifted.
She released Ji Xiangyu’s shoulders, leaped to her feet, and fled with remarkable speed.
The first rule of humbly living off a wealthy woman:
The moment Sister no longer needed her, she had to run away immediately. She could not allow Sister to think she wanted another mouthful of free food!
“Why are you running so quickly?”
Ji Xiangyu slowly unclenched her fists and lowered her hands, concealing her sweat-covered palms.
“Because the collection is complete.”
Shen Yishu picked up the instrument and took two steps toward the window, intending to open the curtains and leave to deliver the results.
“Wait.”
Ji Xiangyu stopped her.
“Stay for a few more minutes.”
Shen Yishu’s fingers were already gripping the curtain.
Hearing this, she walked back.
The room was as dark as night, so Shen Yishu could not clearly see Ji Xiangyu’s expression.
She could only hear her uneven breathing.
Tilting her head, Shen Yishu asked with concern, “Are you all right, Sister?”
