After Unbinding the Simp System, I'm Targeted by the Villain - Chapter 29
By the time Ji Zhou and Yu Chucheng arrived in a hurry, Ji Zhou’s cousin was sitting on a lobby sofa wiping her tears. A young lady at the front desk, though she didn’t know what had happened, was gently patting her back to comfort her.
“Xu Mengshu!” Ji Zhou called out, running over with a look of exasperation. “I told you a long time ago that guy didn’t look like anything good, but you wouldn’t believe me. Now look at you, crying over a scumbag.”
Xu Mengshu was already heartbroken, and Ji Zhou’s words only made her feel worse. Her tears cascaded down like a burst dam. She looked piteously at Yu Chucheng. “Chucheng-ge…”
Yu Chucheng was the type who couldn’t stand seeing anyone cry, regardless of age or gender. He instantly became flustered, his limbs moving awkwardly. “Ji Zhou, calm down. Let’s find out exactly what happened first.”
Ji Zhou clenched his fists, wishing he could go upstairs right now and give that scumbag a “fatherly” lesson. But Yu Chucheng was right. He sat opposite Xu Mengshu with a dark face. “Tell me. How did you find out?”
Xu Mengshu choked out, “For the past few days, I felt like he was replying to my messages very slowly. When I asked him to hang out, he always had all sorts of excuses. Today, I wanted to have dinner with him, but he told me a friend needed him for something. I didn’t believe him, so I secretly followed him from near his house… and I saw him come here with a girl.”
Yu Chucheng: “Did you see them go upstairs with your own eyes?”
Xu Mengshu nodded firmly, her eyes shimmering with tears. “Absolutely certain. I could never mistake him! I even saw him enter room 803 with my own eyes.”
“Then what are we waiting for?” Ji Zhou rolled up his sleeves, ready for a brawl. Usually, he looked easygoing and carefree, but he actually had a fierce temper. Family and friends were his bottom line; if someone crossed it, he was willing to suffer a thousand losses just to deal eight hundred to the enemy.
Yu Chucheng grabbed him. “Wait. If you go up now, he’ll be suspicious and won’t just open the door.”
Ji Zhou was irritable. “Then what do we do?”
Yu Chucheng frowned and thought for a moment. “One of us will pretend to be hotel front desk staff, while the other two hide. This way, we can confirm the situation inside and provide immediate backup if something goes wrong.”
Xu Mengshu nodded. “I think that’s feasible. It’ll lower his guard.”
But the question was: who would play the front desk staff?
Ideally, Xu Mengshu, being a girl, would be the most likely to put someone at ease, but the scumbag would recognize her instantly.
Ji Zhou hadn’t met the scumbag face-to-face, but he was a tall, burly Alpha who looked far too intimidating for the role.
In the end, the heavy responsibility fell upon Yu Chucheng, who had a slender frame and refined features.
Yu Chucheng borrowed a uniform from the staff and put it on, even hanging a borrowed ID badge on his chest for show.
Everything was ready. He looked at the photo Xu Mengshu showed him. The man in the photo had decent features, with a buzz cut and a sturdy build—he had some looks at first glance, but his eyes were slightly upturned, clearly giving off “scumbag” vibes.
Yu Chucheng also put a Bluetooth earbud in his right ear so Ji Zhou could contact him at any time.
Bearing the heavy responsibility, Yu Chucheng resolutely took the elevator to the eighth floor. While Ji Zhou and Xu Mengshu hid at the corner of the corridor, he walked alone toward the door of 803.
He had only taken two steps when his earbud rang. Yu Chucheng slowed down and pressed it. “What is it, Ji Zhou?”
The earbud was silent for two seconds.
Then, Duan Huaijin’s voice entered his ear. “It’s me.”
Yu Chucheng nearly tripped. Duan Huaijin was actually calling him?!
He lowered his voice and whispered, “Do you need something?”
Duan Huaijin said calmly, “Today is Yuanyuan’s birthday. She and her Grandpa made dumplings, and she insisted I call you so you could come over and eat.” He paused, then added, “She likes you very much.”
“I see. Give her the phone.” Seeing that he was getting closer to 803, Yu Chucheng didn’t wait for Yuanyuan’s voice on the other end and said in an urgent tone, “Big brother is on a secret mission. When Big brother finishes the mission, he’ll come find you, okay?”
Duan Huaijin, who hadn’t handed the phone to Yuanyuan yet: “…”
Yu Chucheng’s voice was that of a youthful teenager; it sounded slightly distorted over the phone but was still very pleasant. Those two words—”Big brother”—were said so naturally. With the phone pressed to his ear, it felt to Duan Huaijin as if Yu Chucheng had whispered them directly to him.
After a moment’s pause, Duan Huaijin spoke. “Yuanyuan understands.”
Yu Chucheng was fully invested in the upcoming task and didn’t notice anything unusual on the other end. “Alright, I’m busy. Hang up now.”
Duan Huaijin: “Where are you?”
Yu Chucheng answered instinctively, “Yunxi Luxury Hotel.”
After speaking, he didn’t even notice if the other person had hung up. He gently knocked on the door of 803.
There was an immediate response. A highly impatient male voice came from behind the door. “Who is it!”
Yu Chucheng put on a fake smile. “Front desk. A delivery was sent to your room.”
The man was very cautious. “You have the wrong room. We didn’t order delivery.”
Yu Chucheng pretended to look down at an order. “No, sir. It says room 803 right here. Would you like to check?”
The man looked suspiciously at the staff member through the peephole. The guy looked young, was shorter than him, and had narrow shoulders—he didn’t look like a threat.
Click.
The moment the man opened the door, Yu Chucheng saw his face. It was the scumbag.
But the man clearly worked out; his broad shoulders and back completely blocked the view of the room. Yu Chucheng couldn’t see anything.
“Didn’t you say you were delivering something? Where is it?” The man looked at Yu Chucheng’s empty hands, feeling played, and asked irritably.
Just as Yu Chucheng was racking his brain for an excuse to peek inside, a faint voice suddenly came from the room. “Help… save me…”
The man’s brow furrowed, and he tried to slam the door shut.
“Wait!!” Sensing something was wrong, Yu Chucheng acted quickly and grabbed the door to stop him.
But the man’s strength was immense. Even with Yu Chucheng leaning his entire body weight against the door, he was no match for the person on the other side.
His fingers were caught in the doorframe. The sharp, heart-piercing pain instantly surged into his brain. His vision went black, and an uncontrollable scream of agony was squeezed from his lungs.
But Yu Chucheng didn’t let go. He gripped the doorframe tightly, locking eyes with the man’s vicious gaze.
During the struggle, Yu Chucheng’s earbud fell to the floor. He didn’t hear Duan Huaijin calling his name from the other end.
Ji Zhou and Xu Mengshu were already poised to act. Hearing the commotion, they rushed over immediately.
“You bastard! Get out here!”
Ji Zhou threw his weight against the door with a burst of rage, and Xu Mengshu helped push. Outnumbered, the scumbag was overpowered, and the door was slammed open by Ji Zhou.
Yu Chucheng’s hand was finally freed. The intense pain left him in a cold sweat. His fair fingers were bruised with purple welts, so painful they were almost numb.
