After Unbinding the Simp System, I'm Targeted by the Villain - Chapter 33
Yu Chucheng nodded understandingly. “It’s fine, no need to apologize. It’s normal for people to act that way when they’re struggling to survive.”
“You really don’t blame me?”
“What’s there to blame? Am I not standing right here, perfectly fine?”
“Then can I ask you one more question?” Hao Jia spoke hesitantly.
Yu Chucheng didn’t think twice. “Go ahead.”
Hao Jia glanced at Ji Zhou, who had always had a problem with him. Seeing that the other was busy taking photos with his phone, he lowered his voice and whispered: “Aren’t you a Beta? Why are people saying you turned into an Omega? Did you really…”
Yu Chucheng’s expression froze slightly.
That was a long story. It all started when he meddled in someone else’s business and looked after Duan Huaijin, who was going into his rut in the restroom. At the thought of being bitten until he cried by Duan Huaijin during that first time, Yu Chucheng’s expression became a bit uncomfortable.
How was he supposed to say that out loud?
Initially, Hao Jia was half-skeptical of the rumors, but seeing Yu Chucheng’s expression now, he was certain that Yu Chucheng had indeed become an Omega just like him.
“So this is the real reason you suddenly stopped talking to me.” Hao Jia lowered his head and said with a hint of disappointment, “Actually, I’ve always considered you a friend. Your gender doesn’t matter.”
Before Hao Jia could finish, he was interrupted by Ji Zhou, who had finished taking photos. “Give me a break. Only someone like me counts as Yu Chucheng’s friend, understand? When Yu Chucheng was pursuing you, it was one thing for you to accept the benefits, but then there’s that Shen Rong who’s always jumping around you—he benefited so much too, and I never saw you stop him once.”
Yu Chucheng pinched the bridge of his nose. “Let’s not talk about the past.”
Ji Zhou stiffened his neck. “No, I have to say it. I’ve been holding these words in for two years.”
Yu Chucheng: “…”
This brat is just looking to make my life difficult. Does he really have to expose my ‘licking dog’ history in front of everyone? Do I get to keep any of my dignity?
Ji Zhou stood there with his hands on his hips, ready to unload. “Back during winter break, you said you wanted to see snow, so my brother here chartered a plane to take you north for a week. You were afraid he’d make a move on you, so bringing two people along was understandable. But did you bring two people? You brought seven or eight! You could have formed a tour group! Every single expense was charged to Yu Chucheng. All you guys probably paid for was a souvenir—Mph-mph!”
Yu Chucheng finally managed to cover Ji Zhou’s mouth despite his dodging, preventing even more commotion.
Mrs. Zhang, who was closest to them, noticed the movement and looked back at the group a few times.
Hao Jia’s face turned pale, but he didn’t know how to argue back.
Yu Chucheng felt the scar on his forehead beginning to throb again.
After finally getting the two of them separated, Yu Chucheng put his things away, peeled off the gauze on his head, and reapplied some medication. He sprayed the medicine while looking in the mirror, hissing from the sharp pain.
“Are you done yet? Let’s go look around somewhere else,” Ji Zhou’s voice came from outside.
“Coming.”
Yu Chucheng carefully taped the gauze back on, praying silently to the mirror that it wouldn’t leave a scar. Before leaving, he remembered Duan Huaijin’s reminder and pulled a blocker out of his bag, giving his nape a few extra sprays.
Yu Chucheng and Ji Zhou rented two bicycles and rode around the entire resort along Falling Flower Creek. The resort was well-shaded by trees, so even after riding all afternoon, it didn’t feel too hot.
By the time they returned to the wooden bridge, the evening party was about to start.
The resort’s chef was busy at the grill, occasionally turning a whole roasted lamb. The sizzling aroma drifted into everyone’s noses on the evening breeze.
Ji Zhou swallowed hard and said excitedly to Yu Chucheng, “I’ll go grab two drinks first.”
He walked to the self-service drink counter and had just picked up two cups of iced orange juice when he turned around to see a guy standing next to Yu Chucheng.
The guy was about the same height as Ji Zhou, wore glasses, and looked very refined—one of the more outstanding-looking people in the crowd. He held a cup of iced watermelon juice and offered it to Yu Chucheng with a smile. “Hello, my name is Xin Yihuan. Let’s be friends.”
Ji Zhou looked at the drinks in his own hands. “?”
How did someone manage to swoop in like that in the blink of an eye?
Yu Chucheng took a small step to the side. “Sorry, I’m happy to be friends, but I already have a drink.”
Xin Yihuan paused. “Oh?”
Ji Zhou ran over. “Exactly, exactly! I already got one for him.”
“I see.” Xin Yihuan gave a charming smile and then added, “I’d like to take the liberty of asking a question: is Duan Huaijin your boyfriend?”
“Pfft—!”
Yu Chucheng sprayed out a mouthful of water before he could even swallow.
Ji Zhou frowned. “What kind of crazy question is that? Does my bro look like someone who’s taken?”
Xin Yihuan quickly explained, “Because I saw Duan Huaijin and the Second Young Master acting so intimately at the Zhang family banquet, I had that misunderstanding. My apologies.”
Yu Chucheng coughed a few times. “It’s fine.”
“As long as you’re not a couple.” Xin Yihuan smiled warmly and extended a hand of friendship to Yu Chucheng. “I hope you and your friend have a great time here these next few days. If you need any help, you can find me.”
Yu Chucheng shook his hand awkwardly. “Thanks.”
He didn’t have much of an impression of this Xin Yihuan; the guy shouldn’t be an important character.
Regarding Xin Yihuan’s sudden approach, Ji Zhou’s evaluation was: “He’s interested in you.”
Yu Chucheng got goosebumps all over. “Stop talking nonsense, that’s impossible. Besides, he’s not my type.”
Ji Zhou: “Then what is your type? Still the cute and sweet girl style?”
“I…” Yu Chucheng was about to speak when the image of Duan Huaijin pulling his hand to his lips and blowing on it gently flashed through his mind.
What the hell? Why am I thinking about Duan Huaijin?
Yu Chucheng bit his straw and said vaguely, “Probably.”
In the evening, the group was enjoying the fragrant roasted lamb when someone suggested: “Since it’s a party, we definitely need to play games. Young Master Zhang, surely you prepared something?”
Zhang Hanzhou stood up, raising his glass. “I’ve already prepared several board games. It depends on what you want to play.”
“Let’s play something simple, but the loser has to face a penalty!”
“Good suggestion, I agree.”
“Sure, sure! How about the simplest one—Liar’s Dice?”
Zhang Hanzhou gave a look to the resort manager nearby, who immediately sent someone to bring out ten dice cups.
“We’ll go two by two. The winner gets to pick a penalty for the loser. The winner of the round can continue to challenge the next person until they lose,” Zhang Hanzhou explained the rules and then looked at everyone with a smile. “Who’s first?”
One of them was quite good at dice and volunteered immediately. “I’ll go first, then we’ll go clockwise from me!”
Seeing no objections, the game began.
That person was indeed a master; in just a few minutes, he had taken down three people in a row, coming up with very creative penalties. One person drank a glass of super-sour lemon water in one go, another held their nose and spun around ten times, and another had to find someone of the opposite sex and gaze into their eyes affectionately for one minute.
When it was Yu Chucheng’s turn, the guy didn’t follow the usual pattern and announced his intended penalty beforehand.
“See that pile of snacks on the table? If I win, you have to find someone here and feed them a Bugle snack, mouth-to-mouth.”
Yu Chucheng’s skills were lacking, but he had to keep his momentum up. Hearing this, he didn’t back down. “Fine. And if I win, you have to find someone to kiss.”
The crowd cheered, and the atmosphere peaked instantly.
Yu Chucheng didn’t really know how to play; he just copied the people before him and called out some numbers. When the cups were lifted, everyone craned their necks to see the points.
“I won! That’s four people in a row including you!” the master at the start slapped the table excitedly. But no one was looking at him; all eyes were focused on Yu Chucheng.
After all, everyone there knew his identity. They were curious and harbored a secret excitement, wondering who Yu Chucheng would choose.
Yu Chucheng picked up the bag of Bugles nonchalantly. It’s just feeding a snack mouth-to-mouth. Before transmigrating, he had played this game with friends during dinners. He’d just let Ji Zhou take one for the team.
However, when Yu Chucheng opened the bag of Bugles, he was stunned.
Aren’t normal Bugles usually fairly large? Why were these so small?! They were barely the size of his fingernail.
