The Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Alpha Decides to Go On Strike (GL) - Chapter 20
At eight o’clock in the morning, Su Li, who was sleeping in the living room, was woken up by a knock on the door.
She put on a jacket and went to answer. Yu Shengxiao, standing at the door, politely reminded her of the time she needed to leave for the airport. Su Li then remembered that on the second day of the wedding, she and Shen Mo were scheduled to leave for a week-long honeymoon trip abroad.
Having barely fallen asleep until two or three in the morning, Su Li’s head was still throbbing faintly.
She saw off Yu Shengxiao and returned to the living room only to find Shen Mo fully dressed, standing in front of the bedroom door with her suitcase.
Their eyes met. Su Li awkwardly looked away: “Morning.”
“It’s not morning anymore,” Shen Mo said flatly, her voice sounding cold enough to frost over.
Su Li felt an inexplicable shiver.
She quickly changed the subject: “I need to go prepare for the airport.”
Just as she was about to leave, she heard Shen Mo say: “You don’t care about the honeymoon at all.” She walked over to the sofa, sat down, and folded her arms: “We might as well not go.”
“Huh?” Su Li turned to look at her in confusion.
She cautiously confirmed: “Then… should we cancel the trip?”
Shen Mo glared at her, turned her face away, and remained silent.
Su Li slowly took two steps forward and picked up her phone from the table.
The moment she unlocked the screen, Shen Mo swiftly walked over and grabbed her right hand. Su Li opened her mouth in surprise: “What’s wrong?”
“What are you doing?” Shen Mo frowned slightly, a clear look of anxiety on her face. “You are not allowed to cancel the honeymoon!”
“…I wasn’t going to,” Su Li was startled, then patiently explained, “I just wanted to order two cups of coffee.”
She looked at the faint dark circles under Shen Mo’s eyes: “Did you not sleep well last night either?”
Realizing her misunderstanding, Shen Mo looked slightly embarrassed, biting her lip as she stepped back two paces.
“I do care,” Su Li said softly, looking at Shen Mo’s awkward expression.
She resisted the urge to reach out and touch her, speaking as gently as possible: “Everything for the honeymoon was prepared long ago. I just need a quick wash-up, and then we can leave.”
Shen Mo quietly said, “Mhm.”
Su Li gave an indulgent smile, suddenly feeling like she was comforting a child.
She quickly ordered the coffee, put down her phone, and walked towards the nearby bathroom, saying as she went: “Wait for me, I’ll be fast.”
Shen Mo secretly glanced at her retreating back, then lowered her head, casually twirling the diamond ring on her ring finger.
Two hours later.
In the first-class cabin, the flight attendant served Western-style meals—dry bread, steak, and a plate of boring vegetable salad that completely killed the appetite.
Shen Mo didn’t touch it, only asking the attendant to remove it as it was.
Su Li thought for a moment and pulled out a hazelnut chocolate bar from her pocket: “Have a bite to tie you over. I’ll take you out for a proper meal when we land.”
“No need,” Shen Mo turned her head away, sulkily muttering, “I’m not hungry.”
Su Li felt she had been rebuffed, rubbed her nose, and put the chocolate back in her pocket.
Because it was an international flight, the duration was eight hours long.
Midway through the flight, Su Li felt drowsy. She put on her eye mask for a nap. In her semi-sleep, she felt something continuously tugging at her jacket.
When the small object started trying to worm its way into her pocket, she quickly reached out and grabbed it, then removed her eye mask to look.
“…” Shen Mo pretended to be calm on the surface, but a look of alarm flashed in her star-like eyes.
Su Li looked at the hand she was holding captive.
The knuckles were long and slender, and the touch was warm and jade-like. She was reluctant to let go and secretly rubbed it: “What’s wrong?”
Shen Mo stiffly defended herself: “Accidentally brushed against it.”
Su Li smiled: “Really?”
Shen Mo tried to pull her hand back: “…Let go of me.”
Su Li released her.
She didn’t go back to sleep. Instead, she took out the chocolate bar from her pocket, broke it in half, and offered the larger piece to Shen Mo.
“Here,” she called softly, “Eat it.”
“I…” Shen Mo’s lips parted.
She was slightly flushed, her eyes wandering. After several seconds of hesitation, she took the piece, quietly saying “Thank you.”
After speaking, she quickly turned her face away, deliberately avoiding Su Li’s gaze.
Su Li broke off a piece of chocolate and put it in her mouth, slowly melting it with the warmth of her tongue. Once the rich aroma filled her mouth, she turned to Shen Mo, asking the question she had been holding back all morning: “Why are you angry?”
Shen Mo looked at her half of the chocolate bar, and replied without turning her head: “I’m not.”
“You’re not?” Su Li sighed. “Then I must be too foolish to understand President Shen’s deeper meaning.”
Shen Mo finally turned to look at her.
Su Li leaned closer, smiling engagingly: “You’re really not mad? I feel like you’ve been sulking all morning, you haven’t wanted to talk to me.”
She tried her best to look sweet and obedient: “President Shen, tell me. I promise to fix whatever I can.”
Shen Mo’s expression softened slightly. She took a bite of the chocolate bar and wrinkled her nose: “It’s bitter.”
Su Li didn’t have anything else on her: “I’ll ask the flight attendant to get you a glass of milk…”
Before she could finish, Shen Mo shook her head to refuse.
The still-cold President Shen stared at the half of the chocolate in Su Li’s hand: “Is yours sweeter?”
Su Li didn’t know whether to laugh or cry: “I broke it from one bar. How can yours be bitter and mine be sweet?”
To prove her point, she broke off a small piece of her own chocolate and offered it to Shen Mo’s lips: “Try it yourself.”
Shen Mo’s beautiful eyes stared at the hazelnut-studded chocolate on Su Li’s fingertip. After a moment, she actually opened her lips, rubbing against Su Li’s fingertip as she took the chocolate into her mouth.
Su Li withdrew her hand, lightly pinching her slightly moist fingertip.
After a while, she couldn’t resist, broke off a piece and put it in her own mouth, deliberately licking her fingertip.
Shen Mo had, at some point, leaned against the armrest closer to Su Li, her hand supporting her chin, her cheeks puffing slightly as she tasted the chocolate very seriously.
Her cool demeanor didn’t match these actions, yet the intense contrast made Su Li stare fixedly.
Noticing Su Li’s intense gaze, Shen Mo looked back and blinked innocently.
“Well?” Su Li cleared her throat to cover her distraction. “Are they the same?”
Shen Mo licked her lips.
She said: “Yours is sweeter.”
“I told you they were all…” Su Li paused, looking at her in confusion, then looked down at the unremarkable chocolate in her hand.
Shen Mo smiled inexplicably, deliberately repeating: “Yours is sweeter.”
There were only two guests in the first-class cabin on this flight. Shen Mo’s words echoed in the enclosed space, gently tickling Su Li’s ear like a feather.
Su Li stared at her lips, which were red and wet. She couldn’t help but lean closer.
Shen Mo’s beautiful eyes reflected Su Li’s gradually enlarging face. She stayed still, not retreating.
Su Li stopped when their noses were just one finger-width apart.
Shen Mo blinked: “Hmm?”
Su Li reached out and wiped the corner of her lips, then awkwardly retreated.
She started stammering: “I, I thought I got ch-choc, ahem, chocolate on you…”
Shen Mo narrowed her eyes.
She adjusted her posture, and her foot beneath the seat unnecessarily bumped Su Li’s calf, then she said flatly: “Sorry.”
Su Li pressed her legs together, shaking her head with reddened ears: “N-No problem.”
She broke off another piece of chocolate and offered it to Shen Mo: “Want more?”
Shen Mo opened her mouth and took the chocolate, leaving two shallow crescent marks on Su Li’s finger as she pulled away.
Su Li knew her previous lapse in composure was her fault. She didn’t dare say anything, quickly pulling her hand back.
She picked up the eye mask that had been set aside, intending to close her eyes for a while to ease the awkward atmosphere, when she heard Shen Mo say: “More, please.”
“Hmm?” Su Li turned to look.
Her gaze briefly lingered on the large piece of chocolate in Shen Mo’s hand that had only been bitten once. Her dazed mind couldn’t figure out the situation, so she simply gave up trying to think and obediently broke off her own chocolate and fed it to her again.
They continued this feeding routine. When Su Li’s piece of chocolate was nearly gone, Shen Mo waved her hand: “That’s enough.”
She handed her own piece back to Su Li and pulled the blanket on her lap up to her chest, preparing to sleep.
Su Li let out a sigh of relief.
“Your taste in chocolate is much better than your taste in people.”
The voice came without warning. Su Li looked at her in surprise.
Shen Mo, with her back to her, made no movement. Su Li thought she had misheard and lowered her head to rub her ear.
The next moment, Shen Mo said again: “Thank you… The chocolate was delicious.”
Now Su Li was finally sure she was talking to her.
“Mhm,” she answered softly. After a thought, she murmured in defense: “My taste in people isn’t bad either… My standards are very high now.”
Shen Mo softly murmured something, then replied sullenly: “Oh.”
Su Li felt she was too easily pleased. She couldn’t stop the corners of her mouth from curving up simply because of one word from Shen Mo.
She rubbed her nose and looked down, right at the chocolate Shen Mo had taken a bite of. The square chocolate had an arc-shaped gap, revealing the fine white hazelnut bits inside.
She brought the chocolate to her mouth. The next moment, she accidentally bit right into the gap, turning the small curve into a complete crescent shape.
“Mine is clearly sweeter.”
Su Li muttered softly, but Shen Mo had already closed her eyes to rest and didn’t hear her rebuttal.
