The Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Alpha Decides to Go On Strike (GL) - Chapter 27.2
Shen Mo also curved her lips, actively leaning in to touch her lips.
Just then, her phone rang. Shen Mo glanced at the caller ID and answered.
Su Li heard her telling the person on the other end: “I won’t be attending the banquet. Yes, it was a last-minute decision. Okay, mhm… arrange it.”
After a brief instruction, Shen Mo casually silenced her phone and tossed it aside.
The car sped along, quickly bringing them home.
The original plan for tonight was the banquet, so the live-in cook hadn’t prepared dinner. The two opened the door and entered the home. Everything was shrouded in darkness, completely lacking in life or warmth.
Su Li turned on the light and turned to ask her: “Are you hungry?”
Shen Mo shook her head.
“How could you not be hungry?” Su Li smiled helplessly.
She hugged Shen Mo’s shoulder: “Go sit on the sofa for a while. I’ll make something to eat.”
“Okay.” Shen Mo had no objection to this.
Su Li opened the refrigerator, found the ingredients, and quickly decided to pan-fry a steak with butter.
Western quick dishes didn’t take much effort. Soon, she brought out two plates of simply plated pasta and steak: “Here we are!”
Shen Mo was already waiting at the dining table.
Looking at the dish Su Li made, she praised: “It looks very good.”
“Wait for me,” Su Li instructed, then went to the wine cabinet, selected a bottle of red wine, and poured it into a decanter.
She swirled the beautifully shaped glass container, saying as she walked toward Shen Mo: “I made President Shen miss a big banquet meal. I hope these can make up for it a little.”
Shen Mo smiled softly.
The two clinked glasses in their home. The crisp sound of the glass was very pleasant.
Su Li took a sip of red wine: “It smells nice.”
“Do you like this brand?” Shen Mo asked.
Su Li shook her head: “I rarely drink. I don’t really understand it. I’m just drinking for the atmosphere.”
She laughed at herself, then asked Shen Mo: “How about you?”
“I studied a little wine tasting,” Shen Mo elegantly put the glass back on the table. “Enough to put on an act.”
“Pfft.” Su Li couldn’t help but laugh.
Shen Mo was curious: “Why are you laughing?”
Su Li propped her chin on her hand. Even though she hadn’t drunk much wine, looking at Shen Mo made her feel a little dizzy: “It’s not strange that you studied wine tasting, but do you actually think all that is just ‘putting on an act’?”
“Mhm,” Shen Mo nodded. “The more I deal with those cunning people, the more I feel that performing is hypocritical. Simple relationships are much more relaxed.”
Su Li smiled gently, forking a piece of steak into her mouth.
The two were both very satisfied with this meal. There were no colorful lights, no hypocritical guests, just the two of them in their warm home, leaning into each other and drawing light from one another.
Shen Mo volunteered to clear the plates. Returning to the living room, she found Su Li putting on an old record.
The elegant and soothing waltz music started, prompting her to walk towards Su Li.
When she reached her, Su Li naturally offered her hand: “May I invite this beautiful lady to dance?”
Neither of them had changed yet, still wearing the formal evening wear they would have worn to the banquet.
Seeing this, Shen Mo lifted the hem of her skirt and placed her hand on Su Li’s palm. She curtsied slightly: “The honor is mine.”
Su Li curved her lips, naturally wrapping her arm around Shen Mo’s lower back.
The two slowly began to dance in the living room, but their posture was much more intimate than standard ballroom dancing.
Su Li held Shen Mo, leaning slightly, her chin resting on the other’s delicate shoulder, essentially enveloping Shen Mo entirely in her embrace.
Their steps were unconventional, their legs occasionally brushing against each other through the fabric of their skirts.
“I imagined this scene, me inviting you to dance at the banquet,” Su Li whispered in Shen Mo’s ear.
She chuckled: “Although it’s a little different from the original expectation, I still managed to hold the beauty in my arms and dance.”
“Mmm,” Shen Mo asked, “At the banquet?”
She frowned slightly, genuinely perplexed: “Would you hug me this tightly… at a banquet?”
Their bodies were pressed closely together, almost without any gap, which was excessively intimate.
“Is that not allowed?” Su Li teased her.
Shen Mo pursed her lips, saying nothing. Although her cheeks were already flushed, she obediently rubbed her lips against Su Li’s.
Su Li felt a bit dazed.
She reached up and removed the hidden hairpins from Shen Mo’s hair, letting the pinned-up bun fall into loose, dark strands.
In the gradually deepening white musk scent, she leaned close to Shen Mo’s neck and took a deep breath.
Shen Mo sensitive skin caused her to giggle, and she tightened her arms, hugging Su Li even harder.
“The docile and adorable Shen Mo in my arms, and the intimidating President Shen in front of others, which one is the real you?” Su Li leaned into her ear and asked.
“Both are me,” Shen Mo cupped her face and looked her in the eyes. “Is there a difference?”
“There is,” Su Li smiled faintly.
She licked her lips: “To be honest, no matter which one it is, both make my heart pound.”
“Hmm?” Shen Mo didn’t quite understand what she meant.
“Tsk,” Su Li explained with a laugh. “I wanted to do this when you were confronting those two in the car.”
With that, she suddenly lifted Shen Mo into a bridal carry.
Shen Mo’s feet left the ground without warning, and she gasped instinctively.
Recovering, she clung tightly to Su Li’s shoulder, trusting her entire weight to her lover.
“President Shen looks so cool when she argues. Her authority is intimidating even when she’s not angry. Especially when she stood up for me, she looked so beautiful I wanted to hold her and kiss her,” Su Li continued.
The blush on Shen Mo’s face had spread to her ears.
She wrinkled her nose: “…Aren’t you scared?”
“Scared of what?” Su Li gently kissed the tip of her nose.
Shen Mo looked up: “They said I’m terrifying when I’m angry.”
“You are pretty terrifying. I saw those two were nearly scared senseless,” Su Li smiled, squinting as she recalled the scene.
She added slyly: “But President Shen’s anger wasn’t aimed at me, so why would I be scared?”
Shen Mo’s eyes filled with a glistening moisture. She instinctively leaned forward, her lips brushing against the corner of Su Li’s mouth.
The next moment, she buried herself tightly in Su Li’s embrace.
But Su Li was momentarily lost in thought.
“If one day we fight, maybe then I’ll understand how others feel.”
“Why would we fight?” Shen Mo looked up, asking with dissatisfaction. “Why would we fight?”
Su Li tilted her head: “I said ‘if’.”
She spun around with Shen Mo in her arms, saying over the light music: “There are no couples in the world who don’t quarrel, are there? I was just trying to figure out what to do then, so President Shen would calm down quickly.”
Shen Mo narrowed her eyes, clearly displeased.
“I don’t want to fight with you.”
“Hmm?” Su Li looked down at her. “Then what if I do something that makes you unhappy?”
“What unhappy thing?” Shen Mo asked.
She paused, then added: “Don’t do it.”
Su Li finally realized how foolish she was to worry unnecessarily and immediately stood at attention to take the blame: “I was wrong. I won’t do it.”
She let out a long sigh: “I was just teasing you. Don’t be mad.”
Shen Mo held her tightly, her actions full of reliance and affection for her.
She curled her foot, letting her house slipper slide off naturally, revealing her bare foot.
“Su Li.”
“Mhm.” Su Li had just withdrawn her gaze from her round, beautiful toes when she heard her say, “I want to go back to the room.”
Su Li lowered her head and kissed her lips: “Okay.”
She didn’t put her down but carried Shen Mo all the way back to their bedroom.
The bedroom light wasn’t on, and Su Li didn’t mind. She placed her on the bed, and the moonlight streaming through the window kissed Shen Mo’s delicate face entirely.
She reached out, her thumb trailing down Shen Mo’s jawline.
Shen Mo chuckled: “…That tickles.”
Su Li leaned in, feeling her breathing grow heavier and heavier against her face.
These quiet moments were the most beautiful. Both of them knew what was about to happen and were delighted and content about its arrival.
Shen Mo, always honest about desire, couldn’t help herself first, cupping Su Li’s face and demanding a kiss.
Su Li was naturally willing, leaning in to kiss her lips.
In the quiet, dark room, the only sound was the subtle, intimate wetting of lips, which lasted for a very, very long time.
A moment later, Su Li pulled back. Shen Mo beneath her was already panting.
She smiled and comforted her: “No rush, take a rest.”
Before Shen Mo could nod, she suddenly let out a small whimper.
She grabbed Su Li’s errant hand, frowning and unable to speak.
“What’s wrong?” Su Li asked disingenuously, continuing to light fires all over her body.
Whenever Shen Mo pressed down here, another spot would flare up, making her so anxious that tears fell.
She mumbled a curse: “…Liar.”
“Hmm?” Su Li leaned in, gently licked her cheek: “What did I lie about?”
Shen Mo bit her lip: “You said we could rest…”
Before she could finish, Su Li sealed her lips with her own.
Thus, President Shen’s last protest was forcefully swallowed, and she could only passively accept her lover’s demands.
The surge of heat produced sweat. Soon, both were sticky. Shen Mo’s hair on her temples was plastered to her face. Her gaze was hazy, making her look somewhat dishevelled.
Su Li kissed her eyelids, whispering a comforting “I was wrong,” but her hands never stopped moving.
In the end, Shen Mo was so tired she fell asleep. Su Li carried her into the bathroom to clean up afterward, meticulously wiping away the tear stains near her eyes.
Wrong, but she’ll do it again next time!
The next afternoon, Su Li was called to her father’s office.
A brand-new gift box sat on the sofa. Hearing her father’s introduction, Su Li learned that Xu Guibo had just visited with someone, insisting on leaving the gift.
“What happened between you two that night?” Su Qian asked. “Why did an elder like him say he wanted to apologize to you?”
Su Li didn’t hide anything and briefly recounted the events of that evening.
“How arrogant, saying he’d splash wine on someone to vent his anger right to their face,” Su Qian said with lingering fear. “It’s a good thing you had your wife backing you up. In situations like that, ordinary people can only accept their bad luck.”
Su Li nodded, smiling proudly: “Yes.”
“You look quite pleased with yourself!” Su Qian smiled and looked at her sideways. “You’re happy to stand tall because of your wife, aren’t you?”
“That’s not what I meant,” Su Li rubbed her nose.
She cleared her throat: “The company’s development momentum has been good recently. Once the cooperation project with S.G is officially implemented in the second half of the year, Su’s can become a leader in the industry.”
“At that time, we won’t have to tolerate other people’s attitudes.”
“Let’s put the cooperation project aside for a moment,” Su Qian asked her. “Do you have confidence in the ‘Green Field’ order?
“I see you’ve put all your effort into that recently. Don’t let it all be for nothing.”
“Don’t worry, I know my limits,” Su Li was very confident. “As long as there’s no foul play, the ‘Green Field’ order will be ours.”
Su Qian nodded with satisfaction: “It’s good that young people have drive.”
He had been gradually relinquishing control over the recent period, preparing to hand the company over to Su Li, and barely inquired about affairs anymore. After a brief chat, he rushed Su Li out: “Oh, right.”
“Mhm?” Su Li turned back sharply at the door.
“Your mother wants you to bring Shen Mo home for a meal.” Su Qian asked, “If you’re free, why don’t you two stay for a couple of days? The rooms at home are all ready.”
Su Li nodded: “Sure, I’ll ask Shen Mo.”
Thus, on Saturday morning, the young couple arrived home with a car full of fruits and gifts.
Su Father and Su Mother lived in a small, exquisite villa. Although it wasn’t a particularly expensive sea-view property, the surroundings were quiet and perfect for retirement.
Su Mother particularly loved growing flowers. The entire yard was meticulously cared for. Even though spring had passed, several kinds of flowers were still in full bloom, vying for beauty.
She really liked Shen Mo and personally cooked a table full of dishes.
After the family ate lunch, Su Qian had an urgent matter and called Su Li into the study. Su Mother took Shen Mo to the living room to watch TV and chat.
After finishing her talk with her father, Su Li left the study, only to find that her mother and wife were no longer in the house.
She wasn’t worried. She changed her shoes and quickly walked into the garden, quickly finding the two women admiring flowers in the southwest corner.
“…A’Li was so naughty when she was little. She loved to grab this trellis and shake it. The trellis I painstakingly built was broken by her several times,” Su Mother was smiling as she recounted her little troublemaker’s childhood stories to Shen Mo. “Later, there was no other way. Her father found stainless steel pipes to make me a trellis, and the little thing only gave up when she realized she couldn’t shake it anymore.”
Shen Mo’s lips curved slightly. Hearing this, she asked: “Was she that stubborn as a child?”
“She was!” Su Mother took her hand. “Let me tell you…”
Su Li quietly approached the two. When she was close enough, she suddenly shouted, “Hey!” scaring them both.
She walked forward and pulled Shen Mo back into her embrace from her mother’s grip: “Mom, why are you talking bad about me to Shen Mo?”
“You naughty girl!” Su Mother raised her hand, pretending to hit her. “Do I have to talk bad about you?
“Look at yourself, still acting like a child!”
Su Li stuck out her tongue at her.
Su Mother wasn’t truly angry and asked with a smile: “Are you done talking with your dad?”
“Mhm.” Su Li didn’t want to talk about work right now.
She changed the subject: “Are you showing off your garden again?”
Shen Mo shook her head and chimed in: “She was talking about your childhood stories.”
“What’s so great about my childhood stories?” Su Li was rarely embarrassed. “All children are like that, being naughty and mischievous. You shouldn’t bring up old scores.”
“Nonsense. There are very well-behaved children. Old Man Zhang’s child next door is also an Alpha, and he was quiet since childhood.” Saying this, Su Mother looked at Shen Mo, “Shen Mo must have been a very good child when she was little, too, right?”
Shen Mo thought for a moment, then said, “Mhm.”
She added: “I was often locked in my room when I was little, so I didn’t have the chance to be naughty.”
“Oh my…” Su Mother was momentarily speechless, shocked into silence.
Su Li quickly said: “No wonder your room was full of books.”
She asked: “You read those to amuse yourself back then?”
Shen Mo nodded.
Su Li smiled: “President Shen is so obedient. If I were locked in a room with those books, I would just tear them up and fold paper planes.”
Su Mother finally recovered, smiling and chiding: “You child!”
The two stayed for one night. On Sunday afternoon as they were leaving, Su Mother prepared two potted plants as gifts for them to take home.
With the new flowers at home, Shen Mo followed Su Mother’s instructions, placing them on the balcony and meticulously watering them thoroughly.
“Do you like them that much?” Su Li hugged her from behind, leaning her head out to look at the two lush green potted plants.
Shen Mo had just finished shoveling soil. Her hands were dirty with mud, and there was dust on her clothes.
She warned Su Li: “Dirty. Don’t hug me.”
“Where is it dirty?” Su Li boldly kissed her cheek. “Being dirty can’t stop me from snuggling with my wife!”
Shen Mo expressionlessly moved the flower pots away, but her ears were secretly red.
“Are you done?” Su Li asked. “It’s almost time for dinner.”
“Okay,” Shen Mo nodded.
She turned around in Su Li’s embrace, showing her dirty palms: “I’m going to take a shower first.”
“So much mud,” Su Li smiled and leaned closer. “Can President Shen wash herself clean alone?”
She winked at Shen Mo: “Do you need my help?”
Shen Mo froze, then said very seriously with a blush: “I can wash myself clean. No need for help.”
Su Li sighed inwardly at her lack of romance, then leaned down and began to kiss her.
Shen Mo was clearly uncomfortable. She usually liked to hold Su Li’s neck to cooperate, but this action was inappropriate right now.
She could only hold her hands up high, trying her best to meet Su Li’s demands.
When the kiss ended, both of her arms were aching.
Su Li pulled her hands down: “Why are you so worried about it? If it gets dirty, it gets dirty. You don’t have to pay for it.”
Shen Mo pursed her lips, sticking to her principles: “Don’t stain your white clothes.”
Su Li smiled.
She pushed Shen Mo toward the room: “Alright, hurry up and shower.”
Shen Mo nodded.
She walked forward, then suddenly turned back at the corner: “Are you coming?”
Su Li’s breath hitched: “Didn’t you say you don’t need help?”
“I don’t need help,” Shen Mo repeated.
The next second, she lowered her head. Su Li could only see her pink profile: “…But we can shower together.”
“You…” Su Li’s smile froze on her face. She bit her lip, restraining her foolishly escalating desire.
She cleared her throat and looked away: “No… If we shower together, we won’t have dinner tonight.”
Shen Mo stood still, giving a blank “Oh,” and turned to disappear down the hallway.
Su Li’s heart was fluttering, still dazed by her invitation. She sat back on the sofa, pondering the feasibility of her plan to go find Shen Mo now and reheat dinner two hours later.
But before she could act, the phone on the table rang.
The ringtone was the default model. Su Li initially thought it was her phone, but when she picked it up, she realized it was Shen Mo’s.
The caller ID showed “Shen Zhong,” Shen Mo’s father.
Shen Mo was showering, so she certainly couldn’t be interrupted by this call. Since Shen Zhong wasn’t a stranger, Su Li thought for a moment and pressed the connect button.
Before she could even state her identity, she heard Shen Zhong launch into a furious tirade on the other end.
“What do you mean by not answering your phone for two days? I can’t find you at the company, the whole building is quiet. What the hell are you trying to pull?”
“And hurry up and sign that document for Xin Mu Cosmetics. The entire project department is waiting for you, and you’ve disappeared without a trace. Is that appropriate? Huh?”
The tone was harsh, not sounding like a father speaking to his daughter, which made Su Li frown.
She cleared her throat and spoke: “Father, this is Su Li. Shen Mo isn’t available to take the call right now. I’ll pass the message on to her later.”
“Su Li?” Shen Zhong was stunned for a moment, then realized. “It’s you?”
He said: “Tell Shen Mo to come to the company right away. I need to talk to her.”
“Now?” Su Li frowned. “It’s the weekend. Of course, Shen Mo isn’t at the company. Can’t you wait until a workday for your business?”
“Weekend? What weekend does she have? Will S.G survive if she rests like that?” Shen Zhong yelled furiously. “Tell her to come immediately!”
Su Li rolled her eyes: “Fine, she’ll be there soon.”
Shen Zhong pressed further: “How soon is soon? I’ll wait for her for thirty minutes at most. Tell her to hurry.”
“Let me see,” Su Li stretched lazily. “Soon is… nine o’clock tomorrow morning.”
Before Shen Zhong could react, she added into the phone: “We’re in a hurry. Gotta go. See you ‘soon.'”
With that, she hung up the phone.
