The Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Alpha Decides to Go On Strike (GL) - Chapter 24.1
“Apologize immediately!” Zhang Yipeng, emboldened by his arrogance, grew increasingly aggressive. “Do you want to get sued?”
He shook his arm: “I’m still hurting all over. Just wait, we’ll get a medical report on the injuries. I’ll make you pay until you lose everything, even your underwear.”
Su Li finally lost it and punched him in the face.
“Ah—” Zhang Yipeng was stunned, falling to the ground in disbelief that she would dare to hit him in front of several security guards. “What the fuck, are you insane?”
Su Li rubbed her wrist.
She narrowed her eyes and gave Zhang Yipeng a ‘friendly’ smile: “Since you’re making me pay compensation, I can’t let you get off easily, can I?” She then kicked his leg again: “Don’t worry, I’ll definitely deliver on the compensation.”
Zhang Yipeng scrambled backward, fear making his voice tremble: “Se-Security! Are you just going to stand there?!”
Shen Mo had already walked up to the security guards and was communicating with them in fluent English.
Overwhelmed by Shen Mo’s presence, and with the couple stating they would take full responsibility, the security guards wisely chose to turn a blind eye, only reminding them: “Don’t go too far.”
“Don’t worry,” Shen Mo looked at the man on the ground, who was starting to beg, her gaze deep. “We know where to draw the line.”
“Stop, stop hitting me!” Zhang Yipeng accepted reality, desperately trying to flee, but Su Li grabbed his collar.
“Honestly…” Su Li looked at him with disgust. “You are truly embarrassing yourself on foreign soil.”
“You, ha, how dare you say that!” Zhang Yipeng retorted tremblingly. “You just listen to that crazy woman’s nonsense! What ring? I didn’t take your stuff! How dare you hit me?!”
“This has nothing to do with the ring,” Su Li narrowed her eyes. “Your treatment of your girlfriend is disgusting enough!”
She yanked his collar, pulling the man off the ground: “If you don’t want to be hit again, go apologize to Shu Han first. As for our issues, however you want to handle the compensation, I will see it through.”
“Wuwuwu—” Zhang Yipeng cried, tears and snot streaming down his face.
He was dragged in front of Shu Han, but instead of apologizing, he yelled: “I should never have taken you on this trip! You just stood there watching me get beaten up, didn’t you?!”
The girl no longer had the patience to argue with him.
She tiredly shook her head: “Zhang Yipeng, we’re over.”
“That should be me saying that!” Zhang Yipeng bellowed. “What right do you have to be my girlfriend anymore! I’m dumping you!”
Su Li pushed him: “Be quiet!”
She reminded him: “I brought you here to apologize, not to talk tough!”
Zhang Yipeng gritted his teeth.
He didn’t dare to act up in front of Su Li, who was an Alpha, but that didn’t mean he was willing to bow down to a girl who was weaker than him, so he remained stubborn, refusing to speak.
“No need, Su Li,” Shu Han forced a smile. “I don’t need an apology from trash like him. Being able to see a person clearly on this trip is already more than worth it for me.”
She looked at Zhang Yipeng: “By the way, what about the mechanical watch I gave you before? Do you have it with you?
“I won’t pursue anything else, but the watch was a gift for our engagement. Since we’re broken up now, you should return it to me.”
“You, you…” Zhang Yipeng’s face instantly went pale. “You gave it to me yourself! Why should I give it back?!”
Shu Han didn’t bother wasting words and reached out directly to search his pocket.
“Get off me!” Zhang Yipeng suddenly struggled violently. “Don’t touch me!!!”
Su Li, caught off guard for a moment, almost let him escape. She frowned and applied more force. Zhang Yipeng yelped in pain and quickly wilted.
“Oh…” Shu Han, searching his pocket, suddenly frowned.
The next moment, she withdrew her hand, pinching a small circular object between her index finger and thumb.
The nearby bonfire flames leaped. The firelight fell onto the small object, reflecting a dazzling silver shine.
Su Li’s eyes widened instantly.
She released Zhang Yipeng, eagerly took the small diamond ring from Shu Han’s hand, checked it repeatedly, and then held it up, confirming with certainty: “This is the diamond ring we lost a few days ago!”
The silver band was set with a seven-figure real diamond. The design was exquisite and simple, custom-made to Shen Mo’s ring finger size.
Shen Mo rushed over immediately.
Su Li held the ring out to her: “Look!”
The joy of recovering the lost item instantly made the normally calm and restrained Shen Mo’s eyes well up. She gripped the ring tightly, terrified that the small thing would leave her again.
“It’s back,” she looked up at Su Li, her eyes glistening. “Finally, it’s back!”
Su Li excitedly pulled her into a hug: “Yes, it’s back!”
Shu Han let out a long sigh of relief: “That’s wonderful…”
She looked at Zhang Yipeng, who was sprawled on the ground, afraid to speak: “You deliberately hid from everyone after returning from the cave. I should have realized you were hiding something from me!”
“I, I…” Zhang Yipeng stammered, unable to speak.
The anger in Su Li’s heart finally subsided. She let go of Shen Mo and walked up to him: “Now we have witnesses and material evidence. Do you have anything more to say?
“Mr. Zhang, I must remind you that stealing someone else’s property is a crime!”
“No, I didn’t steal it!” Zhang Yipeng panicked. “The, the thing was clearly found by me! How was I supposed to know the ring was yours?
“Does it have your name written on it? That’s ridiculous!”
Su Li said coldly: “It seems you won’t accept the truth until you’re confronted with the evidence.”
Shen Mo pulled her back from behind.
Su Li turned sideways: “Mhm?”
Shen Mo shook her head.
She shook the phone in her hand: “I’ve already contacted friends nearby. Let a professional lawyer handle this matter. They will file a lawsuit against this person on our behalf.”
Su Li’s expression immediately brightened upon hearing this: “Good.”
With the ring recovered, Shen Mo was in a good mood. She curved her lips and softly asked: “Shall we go to the bonfire party? It’s about to end.”
The bonfire was roaring on the shore. People were dancing and celebrating around the firelight, seemingly forgetting all their troubles.
Su Li smiled gently.
She intimately smoothed the loose hair behind Shen Mo’s ear, ignoring the onlookers: “Yes, if you want to go, let’s go together.”
Shen Mo looked up at her and nodded softly.
Zhang Yipeng finally realized the seriousness of the situation and started begging and wailing shamelessly, but it was too late to salvage anything.
“Honestly, if you had just obediently handed over the item when Shu Han first brought it up, we might have even given you a reward,” Su Li said to him as her final word. “But now, there’s no chance. Everything that happens is your own doing.”
With that, she naturally put her arm around Shen Mo’s shoulder.
The two exchanged smiles, said goodbye to Shu Han, who decided to go back to her room to rest, and walked towards the lively bonfire area.
The firelight was intense, the music was lively. The excitement of the evening was not diminished by the previous small incident.
Su Li led Shen Mo to dance among the crowd. When she raised her arm, Shen Mo cooperated with a twirl, then laughed as she fell back into Su Li’s arms.
Wet sand clung to her feet. Shen Mo stubbornly kicked off her shoes, stepping onto the soft sand barefoot.
Su Li found this amusing. She raised her calf and gently rubbed Shen Mo’s ankle.
The surrounding noise was deafening. She had to lean close to Shen Mo’s ear to ensure she was heard: “Is it too cold?”
Shen Mo shook her head.
“It’s very comfortable,” she shouted, her voice almost lost in the massive cheers. “You try it too!”
Su Li barely heard her and smiled, taking off her own shoes.
Just as she stood up straight again, Shen Mo’s foot reached out, stepping on her foot, rubbing the fine sand against her skin.
The sensation was strangely magical. Su Li narrowed her eyes and put her hands on Shen Mo’s shoulders for support.
Just then, a wave surged in, the cool seawater covering their ankles and washing away a layer of loose sand.
“Ah!” Shen Mo gasped, wrapping her arms around Su Li’s neck, clinging to her, her feet dangling in the air.
With the soft, warm body pressed tightly against her, Su Li was momentarily lost.
Coming to her senses, she quickly wrapped her arms around Shen Mo’s waist to help her maintain balance.
“…I’m wet,” Shen Mo whispered softly.
The music and cheering pounded in her eardrums. Su Li didn’t hear what she said: “What?”
Shen Mo then leaned closer to her ear.
At one point, Su Li distinctly felt her lips brush against her earlobe.
“I said…” Shen Mo spoke, her voice deep yet carrying a touch of petulance, “My feet are all wet!”
“…Mhm,” Su Li nodded.
She hugged Shen Mo and lifted her higher: “This way, your feet won’t get soaked.”
Shen Mo looked down at her, intertwining her fingers in Su Li’s hair.
She called Su Li’s name. Her voice scattered with the wind, eventually burning into ashes in the bonfire, leaving only a trace of residual warmth that reached Su Li’s ear, a tingly, indistinct sound.
Su Li looked up, watching her parted lips.
The surrounding noise receded like a tide. At that moment, looking at Shen Mo, her world was filled only with the myriad of shining stars in the other’s eyes.
As if sensing her emotional shift, Shen Mo cupped her face, her thumb gently rubbing her cheek.
I want to kiss her.
In that moment, this was the only thought in Su Li’s mind.
I want to kiss Shen Mo.
She parted her lips, her tongue involuntarily reaching out slightly.
Su Li suspected her mind had been corrupted. She had never desired Shen Mo this intensely, like a person who had traveled far and longed for a life-saving sip of sweet dew.
Shen Mo slowly lowered her head, her thumb massaging Su Li’s lips.
Five centimeters—she could smell her breath. Two centimeters—they could feel each other’s heat. The distance continued to close…
“Wow—”
The music switched to a more passionate drumbeat. The crowd began moving clockwise, waving their arms and tossing their heads in delight.
Su Li was nudged by a young girl on her right. She snapped back to reality, holding Shen Mo as she moved to the left.
Shen Mo’s face was flushed with a beautiful color.
She held Su Li’s shoulder, struggling slightly: “Put me down.”
Su Li heard her clearly.
She leaned into Shen Mo’s ear: “If you get down, what if your feet get wet again?”
“It doesn’t matter,” Shen Mo squeezed her earlobe, raising her voice to counter, “Aren’t you tired carrying me?”
Su Li shook her head vigorously.
She tightened her arms, turning in a circle with Shen Mo to prove her words were true.
“Hahaha—” Shen Mo laughed gleefully in her arms, her lips brushing against Su Li’s cheek and earlobe in the movement.
After finally calming down, she tentatively lowered her feet and stepped onto Su Li’s feet.
The sensation of her delicate skin on her feet was completely different from the sand. She instinctively curled her toes, looking down with a sense of novelty and satisfaction.
Su Li’s feet were two sizes larger than hers. Both were fair-skinned, but only Shen Mo’s toes were a beautiful pink.
She looked up and asked: “Does it hurt?”
“It doesn’t hurt,” Su Li held her waist and lifted her slightly higher.
Shen Mo nodded in satisfaction.
For the duration of this song, she participated in the revelry entirely by standing on Su Li’s feet.
Su Li suspected Shen Mo was treating her like some kind of vehicle, a small boat they could sail on. The two were riding the waves amidst the firelight and the flow of people. But Su Li couldn’t remain as unconcerned as a vehicle. Several times, she hugged Shen Mo tightly, wishing she could melt the other person into her own embrace.
This obvious possessiveness couldn’t be hidden. Shen Mo would look back at her each time, her gaze clear, but her face showing no specific emotion.
Su Li worried that her crude desire would taint her. She simply closed her eyes and buried her face in Shen Mo’s neck.
Then, the cool white musk scent from Shen Mo entered her body with every breath, filling her starved ambition.
The feeling was not entirely comfortable, a difficult combination of hot and cold sensations.
Taking advantage of the end of the song, Su Li carried her away from the crowd, to the outer edge of the party.
The cool breeze carrying the moisture from the sea blew past. Su Li took a deep breath, put Shen Mo down, and tried to calm her agitated body.
“Aren’t you dancing anymore?” Shen Mo asked.
“I’m a little tired,” Su Li didn’t dare to look at her, looking up at the distant lighthouse instead. “Let’s rest for a bit.”
“Mhm,” Shen Mo wiped her forehead.
She took a step forward and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Su Li: “I’ve never been like this before.”
“Hmm?” Su Li tilted her head, looking at the top of her head.
After her emotions settled, Shen Mo blushed slightly, embarrassed: “Was that too reckless? I didn’t act like my usual self.”
Su Li recalled everything since meeting her and smiled: “Indeed.”
Shen Mo frowned, seeming to contemplate something, and after a while, she uttered: “It’s strange.”
“Strange?” Su Li tilted her head. “I think it’s quite nice. The whole point of coming out is to relax and unwind. The happier you are, the more worthwhile the trip is.
“Besides…”
“Besides what?” Shen Mo looked up at her.
Su Li rubbed her nose: “And I think you were much better just now than your usual cool demeanor…” She turned to look at Shen Mo and said boldly: “You should smile more. Your smile is very beautiful.”
Shen Mo froze, then curved her eyes to confirm: “Really?”
Su Li nodded heavily.
Shen Mo leaned closer to her, her chin almost touching Su Li’s shoulder: “Then shall we come again next time?”
“Come again for what?” Su Li hadn’t caught on.
Shen Mo: “Can we go on a honeymoon again?”
“A honeymoon only happens once,” Su Li blinked.
She understood Shen Mo’s meaning: “You mean travel together next time?”
Shen Mo nodded.
“Of course,” Su Li said immediately, then felt a bit surprised.
She looked at Shen Mo and asked: “You, you want to travel with me again?”
“Mhm,” Shen Mo’s fingers climbed onto her forearm.
She initially touched her tentatively. Seeing no reaction from Su Li, she directly linked her arm through hers, hugging Su Li’s arm to her side.
“I can,” Su Li managed a small smile.
She tried her best not to dwell on Shen Mo’s movements, turning to look at the waves ahead: “Whenever you’re willing, I can go.”
