Chapter 31.2
With Su Li, a tall Alpha, suppressing him, Shen Mingzhu didn’t cause much trouble. He had a huge appetite. As soon as he sat down, he dove into the food, eating messily with oil all over his mouth.
Su Li eyed him disapprovingly, then looked at Shen Mo, who was eating with the elegance of a noble, finding it hard to believe these two were actually related by blood.
Noticing her gaze, Shen Mo used a tissue to wipe the corners of her lips, ensuring there was no food residue before looking up: “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Su Li added a piece of fresh bamboo shoots to her plate.
After a moment, she couldn’t help but ask: “Your mother… must be a person of very refined temperament, right?”
Shen Mo thought hard for a moment: “I haven’t seen her in a long time.” The evaluation she gave was: “She is very free, like a bird that never lands.”
Su Li forced a slight smile and wisely decided to drop the topic.
After dinner, Su Li took Shen Mingzhu to the guest room and helped him connect the gaming console to the large screen so he could play comfortably.
The little fatty complained: “Isn’t there a bigger screen? I wanted to play in the living room; the projector screen there is bigger!”
Su Li didn’t look back: “No.”
After connecting the equipment, she stood up: “That’s it. Play or don’t play.”
Shen Mingzhu couldn’t resist and was already operating the device to select a game.
Su Li was about to leave, but as she reached the door, she heard him call out: “Hey!”
Su Li turned her head: “What is it?”
The little fatty’s eyes were glued to the screen. He asked carelessly: “Where’s my phone?”
Su Li turned around.
She was silent for two seconds, then said: “It must have been left in the car. Is it important?”
“…Forget it.” Shen Mingzhu rubbed his nose, completely engrossed in the game. “I just wanted to take a picture to show my buddies. Leaving it in the car is fine; I can take it with me when I go back.”
Su Li forced a smile: “Mhm.”
In reality, Su Li and Shen Mo’s phones had been ringing off the hook by this time.
To block the noise, both had turned off their phones and were quietly snuggled on the sofa, watching a classic, well-produced movie together.
At around nine o’clock that night, there was heavy pounding on the apartment door.
“Bang, bang, bang—Bang, bang, bang—”
Su Li covered Shen Mo’s ears and chuckled: “It looks like she’s gone crazy with worry.”
Shen Mo’s eyes were deep.
“Open the door! Shen Mo, you damn well open the door!” Zhou Muxin’s shouting penetrated the well-insulated building. The sounds were muffled, but Su Li could imagine how much force she was using.
She slowly got up from the sofa: “I’ll get it.”
Shen Mo instructed: “Be careful.”
No one knew what an enemy driven into a corner might do.
“It’s nothing,” Su Li smiled at her. “Her? She can’t hurt me.”
With that, she calmly walked to the door, asking knowingly: “Who is it?”
The pounding stopped.
Zhou Muxin pressed her face against the peephole: “Su Li! Where did you take Mingzhu? Su Li! Give me back my son!”
Su Li turned the lock and opened the door.
In the hallway, Zhou Muxin stood aggressively outside with two tall, strong bodyguards.
The moment she saw Su Li, Zhou Muxin immediately pushed her way into the house, screaming: “Mingzhu! My baby son! Mommy’s here to save you! Where are you?! Where are you?!”
The two bodyguards attempted to follow, but Su Li stopped them with a look.
She looked at the two of them: “She can get away with it, but if you enter now, are you attempting to forcefully break into a private residence?” She lowered her voice in a threat: “I’ll call security.”
The bodyguards exchanged glances, not daring to cross the line.
Su Li smiled, and slammed the door shut in front of them.
Zhou Muxin frantically searched the living room. Not seeing Shen Mingzhu, she turned and lunged toward Shen Mo on the sofa, but Su Li swiftly intercepted her.
Su Li crossed her arms, blocking Zhou Muxin: “What are you trying to do?”
Zhou Muxin grabbed the fabric at Su Li’s chest: “Su Li! Where did you take Mingzhu?! Give him back to me!”
Su Li effortlessly flung her aside.
She frowned: “What ‘Mingzhu’ or ‘Mingzhu’? I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”
Zhou Muxin gritted her teeth, her eyes turning red with agitation: “You still won’t admit it?! There’s surveillance at the school gate! Mingzhu got into your car!
“Where exactly did you take him?”
“Hmm, well…” Su Li looked at her with a half-smile. “If I said I gave him a ride and he quickly got off and ran away, would you believe me?”
“Where did he get off? Why would he get into your car for no reason?” Zhou Muxin was breathing heavily and lashing out wildly. “You two must have kidnapped Mingzhu! Where did you lock him up?! Tell me!”
Su Li curved her lips, scrutinizing her impolitely, and countered: “Since nothing happened in the first place, how can I give him back to you?”
“Mingzhu’s phone is unreachable, and both your phones are turned off.” Zhou Muxin was stomping her feet in panic.
Seeing that her aggressive shouting was having no effect, her expression suddenly changed: “Su Li, I’m warning you! If anything happens to Mingzhu! You and Shen Mo won’t get away with it!
“I will kill you! I will kill you both!!”
“As if you haven’t tried already.” Su Li narrowed her eyes. “Go ahead and try. I’d like to see how you plan to deal with us!”
“You, you! Shen Mo!”
Su Li was tall and long-legged, standing in front of Zhou Muxin like a mountain. Zhou Muxin couldn’t move her at all. Her bullying nature led her to target Shen Mo. She lunged forward when Su Li was momentarily unguarded.
Seeing Zhou Muxin about to claw at Shen Mo’s face, Su Li quickly pulled Shen Mo back into her arms.
Zhou Muxin was so angry she nearly went insane, shouting “Ah ah” as she lunged again.
Her target was very clear. Her sharp fingernails aimed directly for Shen Mo’s vulnerable eyes, her expression terrifyingly contorted.
Su Li could no longer hold back. The next time Zhou Muxin lunged at them, Su Li directly kicked her onto the floor.
“Ah—” Zhou Muxin crashed heavily onto the floor, several of her meticulously maintained nails broken.
“Ouch, ouch, my hand…” The pain forced tears out. She began to cry dramatically on the floor. “Ouch, I can’t live like this, you’re trying to force me to die! You’re trying to force me to die!”
Su Li and Shen Mo didn’t interrupt, quietly watching her tantrum.
Realizing that crying without purpose was awkward, Zhou Muxin choked back her tears, wiped her eyes, and stood up from the floor.
She looked at the two of them: “I’m going to call the police! I’ll have the police arrest you two crazy people!”
Su Li was completely unfazed by the threat, instead letting out a small laugh—
Su Li and Shen Mo were perfectly fine, but Zhou Muxin, thanks to her earlier performance, had messy hair and a wrinkled outfit. It was clear who was acting hysterical.
She paused, then looked at the other woman: “You’re saying you’re going to call the police right in front of us. If Shen Mingzhu were truly in our hands, wouldn’t you be afraid we’d destroy the evidence?”
Zhou Muxin froze, standing rooted to the spot, her eyes unable to move.
Su Li curved her lips and walked up to her: “So, in reality, you don’t care about your son’s life at all. You just wanted to come here and cause a scene, right?”
“I, I…” Zhou Muxin looked at her fearfully, stammering, unable to speak.
Suddenly, a door opened at the other end of the apartment. Shen Mingzhu’s voice arrived before he did: “Hey, where are you guys? Do you have any cold drinks? I’m thirsty…”
Walking into the living room, he saw Zhou Muxin and rubbed his eyes in disbelief: “Mom?!”
Zhou Muxin snapped out of her daze and ran towards him: “Darling! Sweetie! Darling, are you okay?!”
She patted and felt all over Shen Mingzhu, desperately confirming her son’s safety.
“Why wouldn’t I be okay?” The little fatty pouted. “Mom, what’s wrong with you? Your hair is a mess, like a madwoman.”
Zhou Muxin froze at his words, then pushed his head in irritation: “You child, how do you talk to your mother?”
With red eyes, she said: “Mom was so scared when I couldn’t find you!”
Shen Mingzhu: “You just love drama.”
Zhou Muxin gripped his shoulders: “Sweetie, tell Mommy, did Su Li kidnap you? Did they lay a hand on you? Are you hurt?”
Shen Mingzhu looked speechless: “…What are you talking about? What kidnapping?”
He pointed at Su Li: “Didn’t she invite me here as a guest?” The little fatty then questioned Su Li: “Didn’t you tell my mom?”
Su Li leaned against the sofa armrest, shrugging: “I thought you would tell her yourself.”
“I, I…” The little fatty scratched his face. “I gave you my phone. How could I tell Mom?”
Su Li spread her hands: “It seems it was all a misunderstanding.”
“A misunderstanding! You call this a misunderstanding!” Zhou Muxin’s eyes were wide. “I asked you about Mingzhu’s whereabouts just now, why didn’t you say anything?”
“Ah, that.” Su Li walked closer, smiling as she met her gaze.
She politely reached out and straightened Zhou Muxin’s clothing: “I was just playing a joke on you.”
Under Zhou Muxin’s murderous glare, Su Li remained composed, curving her lips: “What’s wrong? You can’t even take a little joke?”
Zhou Muxin nearly shattered her teeth.
She grabbed her son: “Let’s go! We’re going home!”
Shen Mingzhu was reluctant, pulling back: “Hey, Mom! Mom! My gaming console, I didn’t get my gaming console!”
“What gaming console! You are not taking it!” Zhou Muxin practically screamed a warning. “Shen Mingzhu, I’m telling you, stay far away from these two in the future! Don’t let me see you associate with them again! Understand!”
Shen Mingzhu shouted: “Tyranny! You are a dictator!”
Zhou Muxin opened the door and, with the help of the two bodyguards outside, restrained Shen Mingzhu.
She turned back, glaring resentfully at Su Li and Shen Mo.
Su Li walked to the entrance to see them off: “It’s getting late. Take care.”
Zhou Muxin sneered: “Hmph, you…”
She had just started when Su Li interrupted: “Auntie Zhou, we genuinely don’t want to stoop to your level.”
Zhou Muxin pursed her lips, her face so ugly that her features were slightly distorted.
“But everyone needs to know what they can and cannot do,” Su Li whispered close to her ear.
Finally, she straightened up: “I hope you enjoyed this ‘joke’ today. If you ever have the chance, I don’t mind continuing to ‘play’ with you.”
Cold sweat broke out on Zhou Muxin’s forehead.
She turned her head, no longer looking at Su Li. She signaled the two bodyguards, and quickly disappeared from the apartment door with her son.
Su Li closed the door, humming a cheerful tune as she returned to Shen Mo.
Shen Mo was still sitting casually on the sofa, turning her head to smile at her.
Su Li deliberately walked behind the sofa and hugged Shen Mo tightly from the back.
She let out a long sigh: “I hope today’s events taught her a lesson so she’ll think twice before pulling stunts next time.”
Shen Mo smiled: “She will.”
Her bright eyes were full of amusement: “How did you think of bringing Shen Mingzhu here? She must have been very scared.”
“Her being scared? Hah, can it compare to the harm my dear President suffered?” Su Li said dismissively.
Shen Mo rested her head on Su Li’s shoulder.
Su Li thought for a moment: “I’m just worried this stunt was too big. Do you think Zhou Muxin will start considering sending Shen Mingzhu away?”
She narrowed her eyes: “Like sending him abroad or something?”
Shen Mo shook her head: “No.”
“Hmm?” Her response was too natural, making Su Li suspicious. “How do you know?”
Shen Mo blinked, her gaze still clear: “Do you think she hasn’t thought of that already?” She shrugged: “She had that idea when Shen Mingzhu was in third grade.”
“Then why…” Su Li was confused.
Shen Mo smiled charmingly, giving a simple explanation: “I stopped her.”
She rubbed her nose against Su Li’s cheek: “Shen Mingzhu can only stay in A City.”
Su Li’s slightly furrowed brow smoothed out, and her expression went from confusion to understanding: “I see…”
She laughed softly: “Of course. President Shen is so capable; how could she not have ways to control people?” She buried her face in Shen Mo’s neck: “Then was my approach today too reckless?
“Did I mess up your plan?”
Shen Mo shook her head: “No.”
She took Su Li’s hand: “I was just wondering how to give her a warning, and you acted.
“It was perfectly timed.”
“Really?” Su Li’s eyes widened in delight.
She curved her lips: “It seems I am quite useful, after all. Even without discussing it beforehand, I helped President Shen solve a problem and got some revenge at the same time.”
Shen Mo nodded: “Mhm.”
She reached up, gently stroking the top of Su Li’s head, and praised her: “Well done.”
Su Li felt a little shy, her face immediately flushing.
She rubbed her nose: “Just that? There won’t be only verbal praise, will there?”
Shen Mo tilted her head, looking at her innocently.
Su Li leaned in and kissed her on the corner of her lips: “President Shen, I did such a big thing. Is there any practical reward?”
“You want a reward?” Shen Mo confirmed.
Su Li licked her lips: “Of course!”
Shen Mo picked up her phone, pulled up the payment interface, and handed the phone to her: “Here.”
Su Li was growing accustomed to her extremely direct thought process: “Tsk, just letting me enter the amount myself?”
“Mhm.” Shen Mo nodded, very generously. “Don’t be shy.”
“I’m so nervous.” Su Li took the phone and walked around to sit next to her on the sofa. “Hiss, this is my first time living off someone. How much should I fill in?”
She feigned deep thought, agonizing over the amount on the screen.
Shen Mo leaned in to advise her: “There is a transfer limit.”
Su Li raised an eyebrow: “So I should fill in the maximum amount?”
Shen Mo tilted her head: “If that’s not enough, you can do it a few more times.”
She wrapped her arm around Su Li’s wrist, her thumb pressing right on her pulse: “You can transfer as many times as you like.”
Su Li faced her and deliberately entered a long string of “9”s.
“Press ‘Confirm’.” Seeing Su Li hesitate, Shen Mo even guided her hand. “No password is needed. Just tap this, and it will be transferred.
“Then you can initiate another transfer, mmm…”
Before she could finish, Su Li stopped her mouth with a kiss.
“Smack.”
Their lips separated quickly. Shen Mo was still processing it, blinking and saying: “If you want to kiss, first put the mmm…”
Su Li kissed her again.
After that, whenever Shen Mo opened her mouth to say something clueless, Su Li blocked her lips with a kiss.
“Smack.”
“MUA!”
“Kiss.”
After a few times, Shen Mo learned her lesson. She kept her lips slightly pursed, only staring at Su Li with her bright eyes.
Su Li was satisfied and rewarded her with a kiss on the forehead.
“Transferring money is so boring.” She bit Shen Mo’s earlobe, saying in a husky voice, “I want something else, something I want more.”
Shen Mo whispered softly: “What…”
Su Li leaned close to her ear and mumbled a few secretive words.
Shen Mo’s face instantly turned bright red upon hearing it.
She shyly glanced up at Su Li: “…Does that count as a reward, too?”
Su Li nodded: “Of course.”
She lifted Shen Mo’s chin: “It just depends on whether President Shen is willing to cooperate.”
Shen Mo nodded slightly, staring at her own round toes, and said obediently with a red face: “I am willing.”
Su Li took a deep breath, her soul soaring with wild joy, as if it had left her body and flown above the clouds.
She quickly picked up her own phone: “I’m placing the order! No take-backs!”
Shen Mo bit her lower lip, looked up at her, and nodded gently again.
