The Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character Alpha Decides to Go On Strike (GL) - Chapter 28.1
Shen Zhong relentlessly kept calling. Su Li, irritated by the noise, simply muted her phone and tossed it back onto the coffee table. She quickly put the unpleasant little episode out of her mind and continued to enjoy the last of the weekend with Shen Mo.
That evening, after watching a classic movie, the two of them, still sweetly inseparable, went back to the bedroom. Out of the corner of her eye, Su Li noticed Shen Mo’s lit phone screen displaying several missed calls. Finally remembering the matter, she said, “Your father called while you were taking a shower, so I answered for you.”
“Mhm,” Shen Mo replied flatly, then powered off her phone and placed it on the bedside table to charge.
Su Li was puzzled by her reaction: “Aren’t you curious about what he said?”
Shen Mo shook her head. “It’s not important.” After a pause, she added, “Next time, just ignore his calls.”
Su Li couldn’t help but laugh. “Isn’t that rude?”
“No,” Shen Mo stated calmly. “I do it all the time.”
Su Li giggled.
She raised her hand, signaling for Shen Mo to join her in bed: “The bed’s all warm, come on, President Shen~”
Shen Mo glanced out the window. “It’s summer now, no need to warm the bed.”
“Well, is President Shen going to sleep or not?” Su Li smiled, patting the bed and making a “pat-pat” sound.
Shen Mo honestly approached, and as soon as she was in bed, she expertly snuggled into Su Li’s arms, letting out a satisfied sigh like a kitten.
“He wants you to go to the company to sign some cosmetics document,” Su Li said, stroking her hair. “I told him you’d naturally take care of it when you go to work tomorrow.”
“Mhm.” Shen Mo nodded, indicating she understood.
Su Li gently tapped her cheek. “Is it tricky?”
“Mmm,” Shen Mo paused, then spoke without reservation. “Xinmu is a subsidiary of S.G, specializing in cosmetics. Recently, a batch of pressed powder was found to have excessive heavy metals. Luckily, it hadn’t been launched, and the non-compliant goods are stockpiled in the warehouse. Given the current situation, it will be difficult for Xinmu to meet its projected revenue targets this year.”
Su Li frowned in confusion. “So? Do they need HQ to help with the PR for the heavy metal issue?”
Shen Mo shook her head. She looked at Su Li. “Xinmu was a company Zhou Muxin championed when she was still at HQ. With Xinmu’s poor revenue performance this year, she wants to use it as a pretext to reclaim management control of Xinmu and return to a core position within S.G.”
“So that’s it…” Su Li realized the situation was far more complicated than she had first thought. She couldn’t help but speculate: “The subsidiary suddenly having problems—did she orchestrate it? After all, she seems to be the only beneficiary of this whole mess.”
“A few older employees in Xinmu’s management did have prior ties with her,” Shen Mo said, leaning on Su Li’s shoulder. When analyzing the situation, she lost her usual languid air, becoming completely focused and rational. “However, the situation is still unclear. I plan to take a business trip next week to inspect the factory firsthand.”
“Huh? A business trip?” Hearing the news so suddenly hit Su Li hard. “How long will you be gone? Is it far?”
“The next province over,” Shen Mo replied, naming a second-tier city in the neighboring province. “Counting travel, it’ll take about five days.”
“That long?” Su Li exclaimed.
“Is that long?” Shen Mo looked confused. “That’s quite short for my business trips.”
Su Li was both annoyed and amused, demanding, “We’re going to be apart for five days, and you don’t seem to feel a tiny bit reluctant?”
Shen Mo blinked blankly.
Su Li deliberately stayed silent, waiting to see what she would say, and then heard her wife state, “I’ll be back.”
Su Li grit her teeth and couldn’t help but pinch the soft flesh of her cheek. “Of course I know you’ll be back! Where else would you go if you didn’t come back?”
“Su Li…” Shen Mo took her hand, her expression utterly perplexed. “Why are you angry?”
“I’m not angry.” Unable to stay cross, Su Li let go and kissed the spot she had pinched. “Sigh, five days. I don’t know how I’ll get through it.”
“It’ll be quick,” Shen Mo said, calculating logically like an emotionless machine. “Five short days, gone in a blink.”
“Oh, well.” Su Li knew her temperament and sighed helplessly. She ground her teeth slightly. “I hope you’ll still be so broad-minded when the time comes.”
Shen Mo: “Hmm?”
Su Li smiled, ruffling her hair. “Nothing. Being broad-minded is good, though. At least our President Shen won’t feel anxious or sad about parting.” She pulled Shen Mo into her embrace, murmuring with feigned grievance, “I’ll just suffer all by myself.”
Shen Mo didn’t seem to fully grasp what she meant, but she leaned in close to Su Li’s neck, affectionately rubbing against her smooth skin.
Su Li took a deep breath, flipped over, and pinned Shen Mo beneath her.
“…Do you want to?” Shen Mo hooked her right hand around Su Li’s collar.
Su Li countered, “Do you want to?”
“Yes.” Shen Mo was always honest. Her gaze traveled down the neckline of Su Li’s shirt, and she nodded. “I do.”
Su Li curved her lips, satisfied, and lowered her head to kiss the corner of Shen Mo’s mouth. Shen Mo parted her lips, intending to deepen the kiss, but before their tongues could meet, Su Li had already dodged downward.
Shen Mo let out a soft moan, clutching at Su Li’s clothes in dissatisfaction, but Su Li ignored her, continuing her exploration downward. Soon, Su Li slipped beneath the thin blanket.
“Mnn—” Shen Mo’s face was completely flushed. She grabbed Su Li’s long hair through the blanket. “Slow, slow down.”
The only reply was Su Li’s more urgent movements.
The weekend ended, and the reluctant lovers returned to their respective work posts.
Fang Huo didn’t take Su Shi seriously, believing that the two main headphone models Su Shi currently promoted didn’t meet “Lü Ye’s” standards and weren’t qualified to compete with Fangyuan Technology for the major order. Apart from Su Shi, Fangyuan had virtually no rivals in the current high-end headphone market.
However, reality was already different from the plot Su Li had seen—Qiao Mumu had been fired, and Fang Huo could no longer rely on cheating to obtain more inside information. Of course, what gave Su Li complete confidence was her company’s upcoming brand-new headphone model. Yes, she hadn’t planned to bid with the old models; instead, she was staking everything on the soon-to-be-released new headphones.
This week, the company received good news—Su Shi’s new K12 headphones had entered mass production.
“Thank you all for your contributions to the company. I’ve had the finance department send the bonuses to all R&D department accounts along with this month’s salary,” Su Li said, raising her glass. “Unfortunately, the headphones must remain confidential for now, so the company cannot hold a large celebratory banquet. Once everything is settled, I promise to make it up to all of you.”
The R&D personnel, led by Qian Youlin, all stood up.
“Thank you, President Su, for your recognition. The continuous progress of our R&D department is thanks to the company’s leadership and support,” Qian Youlin said, offering polite, proper formalities. “I thank you on everyone’s behalf, President Su!”
Everyone raised their glasses and drank the wine in one go.
Su Li smiled, looking at Qian Youlin. “The company’s R&D will continue to rely on you, Engineer Qian. Please come to me with any issues.”
Qian Youlin laughed until his double chin showed. “Knowing that, President Su, we can put our minds at ease.”
Su Li curved her lips. “Don’t be shy, everyone, eat more.”
The small celebration didn’t run late. Su Li was driven home by her chauffeur around 8:30 PM and found Shen Mo packing her luggage.
She leaned against the door, slightly tipsy. “Early flight tomorrow?”
Hearing her voice, Shen Mo turned around and nodded. “Yes.”
“Are the arrangements made? The hotel and everything over there?” Su Li asked. Shen Mo traveled frequently, so naturally, there should be no issues with these things, but Su Li couldn’t help but check repeatedly for peace of mind.
“It’s all ready. Xinmu’s management will pick me up at the airport, and I’ll be back as soon as the work is done,” Shen Mo said.
“That’s good.” After saying that, Su Li swayed and collapsed right into Shen Mo’s embrace.
Shen Mo held her up. “Did you drink a lot?”
“Not really.” She wasn’t lying. Su Li had only had a few drinks to go along with the atmosphere and was nowhere near drunk. She was acting weak and limp because she wanted to use the slight buzz as an excuse to be affectionate with Shen Mo.
Smelling the scent of alcohol on her, Shen Mo suggested, “Do you want to take a shower first?”
“My limbs are all soft and weak,” Su Li murmured huskily. “I don’t want to wash.”
“Alright,” Shen Mo replied, completely missing the hidden meaning. “Then go lie down on the bed and you can wash up tomorrow morning.”
“…” Su Li was silent for two seconds. “I won’t smell good if I don’t shower. You don’t mind?”
Shen Mo leaned in, seriously sniffing her neck, then looked up and countered, “It doesn’t smell. There’s a faint scent of wine and a little mint. It’s not unpleasant.”
Su Li hugged her tightly, rubbing her lips against Shen Mo’s cheek. “How can our President Shen, who’s so clean, sleep with someone who hasn’t showered? Absolutely not! I can’t allow it.”
Shen Mo listened blankly, pondered for a moment, and confirmed, “So, you mean…”
Su Li winked at her, her eyes practically overflowing with amusement.
“Then I’ll sleep in the guest room tonight,” Shen Mo said, pursing her lips. Her expression was slightly displeased, and after a thought, she added pleadingly, “Actually, I’d rather sleep with you.”
“…” Su Li completely surrendered. She finally realized that Shen Mo was simply like this; subtle hints and indirect suggestions were utterly useless on her.
After taking a deep breath, she leaned close to Shen Mo’s ear, enunciating every word clearly to express her need: “I mean, C-E-O S-h-e-n, c-a-n y-o-u w-a-s-h m-e?”
Shen Mo belatedly looked up at her, a beautiful blush rising on her cheeks. But two seconds later, the responsible President Shen honestly shook her head. “…I don’t know how.”
“I’ll teach you.” Giving Shen Mo no time to react, Su Li pulled her toward the adjacent washroom.
The bathroom was very spacious, equipped with both an oversized jacuzzi and a shower system. Su Li flipped the automatic switch, and the tub began to fill itself. She pulled the still-bewildered Shen Mo beneath the showerhead, pressed the switch, and appropriately warm water streamed down onto both of them.
Poor Shen Mo had just showered; her long hair, dried less than an hour ago, was now wet again. But she didn’t show any sign of annoyance, merely cooperating by shaking her head to fling away the water droplets around her eyes.
Under the curtain of water, Su Li hugged her through the thin nightgown.
Shen Mo clung to her shoulders. “Are you cold?” She rested her chin on Su Li’s shoulder, checking her lover’s body temperature through their tightly pressed bodies.
“A little,” Su Li lied brazenly. “Hold me tighter; I think I’m going to slip.”
Shen Mo did as she was told, making their already close bodies even more seamlessly pressed together. She then reached out to turn up the water temperature, but Su Li grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.
“Hmm?” Shen Mo looked up, confused.
“Don’t worry about that.” Su Li chuckled. “How does President Shen usually get all clean and fragrant?”
Shen Mo pointed to the bath pouf and shower gel nearby. “…With those.”
Su Li’s hand gently stroked her face. “How do you use them?”
Shen Mo tilted her head. “You don’t know?” She wasn’t easily fooled, and looked Su Li in the eye. “You clearly use them, too.”
“I forgot.” Su Li said the word with righteous confidence. “I’m drunk, remember?”
Shen Mo still hesitated. “But…”
“No buts.” Su Li lowered her head and sealed her mouth, which was always uttering such clueless words. “Mnn.” Shen Mo’s lips were sealed, and all the words she was about to say were pushed back down.
She struggled to keep up with Su Li’s advance, unable to even deal with the mischievous water droplets clinging to her eyelashes.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—”
Amidst the roar of the water, Su Li could still hear the faint sounds of their lips and tongues entwining. It felt as if only the two of them existed in their world, sensing nothing but each other. Their clothes were completely soaked, clinging tightly to their skin, with ridges and valleys formed where the warm water flowed.
Whether the water temperature was too high or their body temperatures were out of control, both were breathless when their lips finally parted.
“It’s so hot…” Su Li took a deep breath and took off the bothersome outermost layer of clothing. Then, she turned her back to Shen Mo. “Shen Mo, pull down the zipper on the back.”
Shen Mo had asked Su Li to do the same thing for her on their wedding night. At that time, Su Li had nearly used up all her self-control just to keep her eyes from wandering. She was somewhat anticipating how Shen Mo would react in the same situation.
Shen Mo didn’t move for a long time. Su Li couldn’t see her expression and prompted her impatiently, “Hmm?”
The next moment, Shen Mo pressed against her, embracing her from behind. The water continued to pour down, soaking all their exposed limbs, making them wet and clingy with an exquisite sensation.
Su Li wiped her face. Her vision was clear for only a moment before it was quickly shrouded in steam again. Thinking Shen Mo hadn’t heard her, she grabbed the arm wrapped around her waist and repeated, “I said, President Shen, help me pull down the zipper of my dress.”
“Mhm.” This time, Shen Mo finally responded.
