Chapter 37.1

It was clear that Xue Wu’s sudden heat was aggressive. Although she was within the expected timeframe for a special period, which could cause hormonal instability, the fact that Luo Yan had already marked her several times should have made her less susceptible to such drastic fluctuations.

This sudden turn of events took Luo Yan by surprise. Everything had been fine just moments ago; how could this happen? It was truly unbelievable.

With the matter of the Eldest Miss Omega still unresolved and Xue Wu now in crisis, Luo Yan felt mentally and physically exhausted. She was also plagued by doubt: why had such a massive change occurred in Xue Wu?

It wasn’t until she encountered that familiar Omega flashing through the stairwell that Luo Yan, in a sudden spark of insight, connected all the dots. She understood the cause and effect of the entire situation—including why the big villain, who had been perfectly fine, suddenly entered a state of heat.

……

In the hospital corridor.

Zhao Xin was the first to find Luo Yan after she had been missing for twenty minutes, but the Alpha’s condition was far from optimistic. Luo Yan was clutching her abdomen, which had begun bleeding heavily again; she was covered in blood, and even her face was splattered with crimson from an unknown source. She looked like a demonic specter from a field of slaughter. Even her white shirt did nothing to soften the image; instead, it intensified the terrifying contrast.

Her pheromones were on the verge of total collapse, and her eyes were unfocused, unable to fix on anything. It was a frightening sight. If the hospital had an alarm even more severe than a Level One emergency, this Alpha would have been confined to the most secure, airtight isolation room.

Though Zhao Xin was a Beta, she still felt the crushing pressure radiating from Luo Yan. Goosebumps broke out across her arms—an involuntary reaction of extreme physical fear. When she finally found the courage to speak, her voice trembled: “Second Miss? How are you? Are you feeling very unwell? Should I call a doctor?”

Luo Yan reacted quickly, her eyelids snapping up to look at her, causing Zhao Xin’s breath to hitch. Though her boss looked incredibly sharp and “Alpha” at the moment, she felt as if the woman could pick up a brick and fight to the death at any second.

“The medicine… give it to the doctor treating the Eldest Miss Omega.” Luo Yan regained a sliver of clarity upon seeing Zhao Xin, but her voice remained icy, leaving Zhao Xin completely confused.

“Second Miss… what is this medicine for?” Why have you suddenly become like this? It’s truly terrifying!

“It’s for treating pheromone disorder. It’s already on record with the hospital. If she truly can’t find an Alpha, this medicine should be able to halt her symptoms.”

Even in this state, she could clearly state the name, source, and use of the medicine. Zhao Xin once again realized that her boss was truly no ordinary person.

Seeing Zhao Xin still dazed, Luo Yan felt she didn’t have time to wait. Her mind was entirely occupied by Xue Wu’s sudden heat. She shoved the medicine into Zhao Xin’s hand, oriented herself, and began walking toward Xue Wu’s ward.

Zhao Xin finally snapped out of it. Seeing that the wound on Luo Yan’s abdomen was repeatedly tearing and bleeding without any sign of stopping, her heart burned with anxiety. What had happened during those twenty minutes she was missing to cause this? And now she wanted to see Xue Wu in this state? That would only worsen Xue Wu’s heat reaction.

“Second Miss! Where are you going?!” Zhao Xin ignored formalities and blocked her path, her tone full of alarm.

“To find A-Wu. Isn’t she in a sudden heat? I can’t leave her alone… and she must have misunderstood something about me to end up like this… I need to explain to her…”

The Alpha’s tone was relatively gentle now; perhaps because she was speaking of Xue Wu, she didn’t sound like a cold, heartless war machine.

“But… Second Miss, your wound has burst open again. You’re bleeding, and you’re covered in bloodstains. Miss Xue will be terrified if she sees you like this.” Zhao Xin knew that Xue Wu was the person she cared about most; speaking to her this way was bound to work.

Sure enough, mentioning Xue Wu in front of a volatile Luo Yan proved effective. Luo Yan regained some clarity and initially intended to follow Zhao Xin to change clothes before seeing Xue Wu. However, before they reached their destination, a piercing alarm suddenly rang through the corridor. The sound made Luo Yan’s heart throb and her expression change instantly.

This alarm level seemed even more tense and severe than the previous one. Luo Yan threw caution to the wind and sprinted back to Xue Wu’s ward at top speed, leaving Zhao Xin far behind, unable to offer any further persuasion.

Luo Yan quickly returned to Xue Wu’s floor. Ignoring the blood seeping from her abdomen, she found the attending doctor outside the ward and asked anxiously, “What’s wrong with my Omega?”

The attending doctor had only just returned. Seeing Luo Yan covered in blood, he was shocked: “Miss Luo, what on earth happened to you?!”

Luo Yan didn’t care about herself. “I’m fine, it just looks scary.”

The doctor couldn’t possibly believe her, but seeing the determination in her eyes, he could only compromise and turn to Xue Wu’s situation: “After you left, Miss Xue suddenly had a breakdown. She tried to force herself to remember things from the past but found she couldn’t. I told her to let nature take its course, but she seemed to get stuck in a dead end. Furthermore, because you weren’t here, she lost the emotional pillar that keeps her stable, and she started to spiral.”

Dr. He spoke with great worry. Luo Yan never expected that her brief absence would cause Xue Wu such distress. Perhaps it wasn’t just that she missed her, but that there was still a lack of trust and security, leading to this consequence.

Therefore, this sudden heat… was entirely her fault.

“Other than that, did anything else happen?” Luo Yan was deeply worried, but she forced herself to stay calm to get the full story from the doctor.

“I stepped away for a moment and another doctor was watching her. I don’t know the specific details of what else might have occurred.”

“Then how can I help her now…?” Luo Yan’s brow was tightly knit, feeling that something was off. She watched the distressed Omega through the ward window and asked.

“You are her Alpha, and you have marked her before. You can go in and see if you can stabilize her. If not, we will have to use a strong suppressant.” Dr. He gave her the advice.

“…Alright, I’ll do my best.” Luo Yan didn’t want Xue Wu to be injected with suppressants again. According to the logic of this world, there is a limit to how many times suppressants can be used; the more they are used, the less effective they become. Just like that Eldest Miss Omega, who had used too many and now found her heat uncontrollable.

She couldn’t let Xue Wu repeat that mistake; otherwise, what right did she have to be her Alpha?

With these thoughts in mind, Luo Yan pushed open the door and entered. However, Xue Wu’s assistant, Chen Jia, suddenly appeared and blocked her way with a cold face: “Miss Luo, please go back. Sister Wu doesn’t want to see you right now.”

“Why wouldn’t Sister A-Wu want to see me?” Luo Yan’s heart went cold; she had an even worse premonition now. She had to explain everything that had happened recently, or the misunderstanding would only deepen.

Luo Yan no longer cared about formalities. She bypassed Chen Jia and continued further into the room. In that instant, she was met with the incredibly thick scent of an Omega’s pheromones. If the people guarding here weren’t all Betas, it likely would have driven Alphas mad and forced other Omegas into heat.

Even Luo Yan had to use extreme self-control to stay conscious and not be completely lured away by the scent.

Luo Yan suppressed her own pheromones which were threatening to burst out. Ignoring the heat in the gland at the back of her neck from the other’s scent, she forced a path through the dense cloud of pheromones, stepped quickly to Xue Wu’s side, and released her own pheromones to wrap around her and soothe her.

“Sister A-Wu… I’m back. I’m sorry.”

Xue Wu was lying on her side on the bed, struggling to control her pheromones. Her entire body was shaking. Upon hearing Luo Yan’s voice, tears began to fall uncontrollably. “What are you apologizing for?”

She didn’t turn to look at her. Even though the heat had clouded her mind, she remembered why she had entered this state. She restrained herself from getting close, even though she was in agonizing discomfort—as if ants were biting her entire body. She desperately wanted to cling to her Alpha and let her mark her, regardless of anything else.

Whether a temporary mark… or a complete mark… no matter which, as long as there was physical intimacy, she would be satisfied.

The tension in her mind was harrowing, but she refused to compromise. If it were anything else, she could turn a blind eye, but this involved a question of loyalty. She couldn’t let it go so easily.

Furthermore… it seemed she had forgotten many things. Her little Alpha said she had no so-called White Moonlight and had loved her from the start—could those words be trusted? She didn’t dare believe them.

She had believed before, but now she didn’t dare. She was afraid it was all her own delusion, all fake.

Moreover, after the things that female Omega had shown her in her ward just now, she found it even harder to trust Luo Yan. Days of doubt and suppression finally exploded at this moment. She couldn’t control herself and only wanted to wait for Luo Yan to get a clear answer!

“I shouldn’t have left you to see another female Omega and let your thoughts run wild.” Luo Yan admitted her mistake obediently. Seeing Xue Wu’s hands clenched tight, she felt heartbroken. Ignoring the other’s anger, she forced her hands open. Her pheromones swirled around Xue Wu’s waist as if to tease her.

This caused Xue Wu to lose her composure, making her feel even more bitter. She tried to fling Luo Yan’s hands away but couldn’t. Instead, her hands were held open, revealing deep nail marks in her palms. It pained Luo Yan to see.

“Sister A-Wu never cherishes her own body.” Luo Yan was slightly angry. She lifted one of Xue Wu’s hands, intending to kiss the palm gently, but was stopped by a sharp burst of Xue Wu’s pheromones.
