Chapter 27.1
Luo Yan had originally left the hospital after finishing breakfast with Xue Wu.
However, she received another call from Wei Ying while on her way. Despite being in a hurry, she returned to the hospital, intending to see the Omega who had previously lost control and attempted to escape.
She should have visited her sooner; after all, the woman’s actions were far too concerning to ignore. Investigations showed this Omega’s name was Hao Ya. She had a high rank and strong pheromone levels but came from a common background. In the entertainment industry, she had faced cold shoulders due to a lack of connections. Even when she landed roles with few lines, she performed them well, earning respect.
Yet despite her efforts, she was still looked down upon and received little attention until she met an Alpha who appreciated her. That Alpha gave her many opportunities, allowing her to start making a name for herself.
One would think everything was moving in a positive direction, but that Alpha—who had treated her like a precious treasure—spoke hurtful words in front of friends, claiming she was merely a plaything. The Alpha then thoroughly crushed a cake Hao Ya had made by hand underfoot, saying cruelly: “Such low-quality cake… even a dog wouldn’t eat it… and she gives it to me? Does she really think she’s someone important?”
The Alpha’s “fair-weather friends” laughed and chimed in to flatter her, agreeing that the other person’s heart was worthless. They didn’t treat the Omega as a human being at all; they were truly just playing with her.
Initially, Hao Ya couldn’t handle it, but later she began to take revenge on this Alpha, extracting every possible benefit from her while never letting her heart be moved again.
The story should have developed into a “chasing the wife at the crematorium” trope or a “cannon fodder’s counterattack,” but the subsequent events were beyond Luo Yan’s expectations and had nothing to do with those themes.
In the end, this Omega named Hao Ya was no match for the ruthless Alpha. She was played until she was dazed, and her glands were nearly destroyed, almost losing her status as an Omega.
That was why she had been admitted to the hospital under strict supervision to monitor her pheromone levels.
Luo Yan watched her through the ward door, seeing her tied to the bed and still acting delirious, feeling a sense of pity. It wasn’t her fault, but rather that of the deceitful Alpha. However, why was this matter connected to the big villain? The big villain shouldn’t have time to play “crematorium” games with them, right?
There was no such plot in the book, making it difficult for her to straighten out the whole situation.
“Tell me who the Alpha is that harmed you; I can help you teach her a lesson,” Luo Yan said suddenly after watching her for a while.
The Omega, who was under Level 1 isolation in the ward, heard this and suddenly looked up at her with a poisonous gaze: “I recognize you. You are Xue Wu’s lover. Both of you will die a horrible death!”
“What did Xue Wu do to offend you? Why curse her like that?”
Luo Yan was unhappy hearing the other’s malicious words, but she didn’t show it. She silently observed her and suddenly realized that this Omega named Hao Ya… shared a slight resemblance to the big villain. It was only a subtle resemblance; there wasn’t any specific feature that looked identical.
She felt she might have discovered a major clue, but she couldn’t be certain yet.
“She deserves to die! Hahahaha, just because I can’t deal with her doesn’t mean others can’t. She’s dead! As soon as you leave her, she’s dead! As we speak, she might already be dead! You’ll all be buried with me—”
Luo Yan remained expressionless, but her heart suddenly jolted. She felt the other woman might know something, but she couldn’t be sure. If what she said was true, the big villain might really be in danger right now.
“You’d better hope so,” she said coldly. She stopped talking to her and turned to leave, but the woman’s curses echoed behind her, making her skin crawl.
Luo Yan suddenly felt that she couldn’t bear to hear anyone speak ill of Xue Wu. After moving away from the ward, she went straight to a doctor to get a dose of suppressants to stop her surging, violent pheromones. The doctor looked at her hesitantly, appearing as if she wanted to say something.
Luo Yan glanced at her. “Doctor, you can speak plainly.”
“You can’t take too many suppressants, otherwise it will affect your fertility.”
Luo Yan: “…”
She couldn’t worry about that now. Once her pheromones settled, she went to the big villain’s ward to confirm her safety, deciding to send two more bodyguards to stand watch while she was at it.
Her older sister, Luo Xi, knew she was moving personnel again. Although she didn’t stop or question her, she teased: “If you keep moving people like this, the hospital will be surrounded by bodyguards.”
“Ahem, Sister, don’t tease me.” Luo Yan blushed slightly, feeling the bashfulness of having her thoughts exposed.
“Ahem, I don’t care what you do, but remember one thing: you mustn’t bully the Omega.” After a pause, she added, “And make sure to use protection.”
Luo Yan: “…” What is going on! Their progress isn’t that fast!
She had originally intended to peek at the big villain and then leave without disturbing her, but she didn’t expect Xue Wu to notice her immediately. She called out loudly toward the corner where she was hiding: “Yanyan, I’ve found you! Don’t hide!”
Luo Yan: “…” Was her hiding that bad? Caught again.
She only felt relieved after seeing that the “misfortune” Hao Ya spoke of hadn’t happened.
“Yanyan, why are you back? Did you sense that I missed you, so you turned back to stay with me all day?” Xue Wu was about to get another IV drip. Her eyes visibly lit up when she saw her appear, and she held her with her free hand, asking.
Luo Yan opened her mouth, suddenly finding herself unable to say anything.
Her heart felt warm; she couldn’t describe the feeling. She only knew that the big villain really relied on her at this moment.
—Not long ago when she left the hospital, the big villain had already unintentionally shown reluctance to see her go. This felt too novel to her, almost unbelievable.
The image of Xue Wu in her mind had always been independent, clear-headed, and not relying on anyone, but now… she had overturned her original perception. She still wasn’t quite used to it.
But on the other hand, this wasn’t bad. She also liked the feeling of being relied upon by the big villain; it made her feel more like an Alpha.
Yet, she also felt a bit sad because she couldn’t be by her side every moment and might leave her to face difficulties alone. Just thinking about the malicious words Hao Ya said made her furious.
“Sister A-Wu, can you give me a hug?” Luo Yan couldn’t do anything else at this moment. She felt a surge of helplessness and desperately wanted validation from her Omega.
Xue Wu was a bit surprised by the request. Her returning had already been a surprise, but this request… made her wonder if she had encountered some unsolvable trouble.
“Yanyan is really clingy,” Xue Wu couldn’t help saying, but she followed through and hugged her with one arm.
Only after falling into her embrace did Luo Yan feel some peace of mind. She buried her face in the crook of her neck, calming down only after smelling her fragrance.
“Sister A-Wu, why do you smell so good?” she murmured.
“Only Yanyan would say I smell good. Others only say I’m a seductress who uses pheromones to climb the ladder,” Xue Wu rubbed against her temple, showing some attachment.
“That’s because they don’t know quality—and fortunately, they don’t.”
After holding the big villain for a while, Luo Yan finally felt like she had come back to life. She let go, affectionately kissed her fingertips, and then pulled away completely.
“—Yanyan seems like a completely different person since I got injured.” Xue Wu looked at her—looking abstinent yet tinged with a certain sexiness—and couldn’t help but throw the words Luo Yan said earlier back at her.
Luo Yan was between laughter and tears. “How am I different?”
When she had left for the first time earlier, her original words were: “Sister A-Wu seems like a completely different person after falling ill.”
When she said that, she had released a trace of pheromones onto her, slowly enveloping her to make the big villain feel a bit more relaxed.
At this moment, Xue Wu was indeed reluctant to let Luo Yan go. She attributed this to the “dependency period” rather than anything else.
She held her hand and slowly shook it, looking up at her for a while with a hint of sorrow and reluctance.
This inadvertently revealed expression prompted Luo Yan to say what she just said.
—The “big cat” turning into a “spoiled kitten” was quite something.
She felt like taking her heart out and presenting it to her.
So, before leaving, she gave her a restrained kiss. “I’ll see you tonight and bring you some nice soup.”
“You’re making it?” In Xue Wu’s memory, there were hardly any Alphas who knew how to make soup.
“…I don’t know how to cook.” She was an expert at blowing up kitchens. Before transmigrating, she was never allowed in the kitchen. If she made soup, she might end up being seen at the fire station.
“Is it that you don’t know how, or you don’t want to make it for me?”
“I really don’t know how… if you don’t believe me, ask my sister; I almost blew up the kitchen.”
This was the truth, without a hint of deception.
The original owner was also unskilled at cooking. Once, knowing Xue Wu liked double-skin milk, she went specifically to learn. She was fine while learning, but when she went home to do it, she almost blinded Luo Qing’s eyes with an explosion. Although the original owner felt no remorse and thought she deserved it, Luo Qing cried to Luo Debai. Coupled with her two-faced mother’s help, she was loathed even more by Luo Debai.
However, it was likely because the original owner was an Alpha; although a “trash” Alpha, she had shown talent as a child and was the youngest daughter of his deceased first wife. No matter how heartless or disgusted he was, he wouldn’t truly give up on her.
Thus, the original owner lived more and more absurdly over the years. Although there was an element of acting involved, she truly couldn’t handle kitchen work; she had zero talent for it.
That time she wanted to make double-skin milk for Xue Wu, it was simply self-inflicted humiliation. Perhaps the original owner also realized she couldn’t do anything well and was completely unworthy of the big villain, so she never approached her in the end, instead choosing to monitor her silently and gather all intelligence on her without doing anything else.
She didn’t even hang around in front of her. It could be said the original owner was actually an extremely insecure person.
She was different from the current “her,” who was merely over-cautious.
“Then next time I can let you taste my cooking,” Xue Wu said after thinking about it.
“Sister A-Wu… what can you make?” Luo Yan didn’t expect the big villain to know how to cook; no such setting was written in the book. She only knew that after turning evil, she was very skilled at manipulating hearts, and almost no one could escape her “beauty trap.”
“I’ll make whatever you want to eat.”
“That amazing? Then it’s a deal.”
Luo Yan saw that time was really running out and couldn’t stay any longer. She didn’t say anything else, just told her to send a message or call immediately if anything happened.
She could have maintained a good mood for the whole day, but the information brought by Wei Ying completely ruined it. Coupled with how strange the Omega named Hao Ya was, she couldn’t be happy no matter what.
What she didn’t know was that after she left, Xue Wu wasn’t feeling very relaxed either.
The smile on her face almost completely vanished once Luo Yan was gone. Her entire being turned solemn and quiet, a cold and beautiful aura emanating from her that drew even more attention.
Chen Jia happened to enter from outside at that moment, pouring warm water for Xue Wu to take her medicine. She couldn’t help but steal a few glances, because this Xue Wu was actually the one she was familiar with, yet there was something unfamiliar about her as well. The feeling she gave off was far too complex; she couldn’t figure out what was going on for the time being.
She just quietly stayed by her side, waiting for her to take the medicine.
While taking the medicine, Xue Wu asked her: “Do you have any idea who planned my car accident?”
There were some things she didn’t have time to deal with when she first woke up, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t investigate and pay attention.
This accident wasn’t a fluke but an inevitability. She wouldn’t easily let go of the person who harmed her.
What Xue Wu found ridiculous was that since her rebirth, she hadn’t once looked for trouble with those who had harmed her before, yet these people always came looking for her for no reason, giving her opportunities for revenge.
In that case, she would play along to the end.
Chen Jia, having followed her for so long, naturally knew what she meant. She was asking if she had investigated the cause of the accident, because such a serious accident couldn’t have happened for no reason, especially since their car wasn’t going fast at the time.
It was obvious someone wanted to deal with them—more specifically, to deal with her.
“Boss, do you remember that before your accident, that bitch slandered you by saying you were pregnant?” Chen Jia was still indignant speaking of it. “I think it must have been her doing.”
“Are you talking about… that Alpha, Xin Jingchun?” Xue Wu didn’t quite remember previous events. She thought for a while before naming the Alpha.
“Yes, it was her.” Chen Jia gritted her teeth. “After your accident, Miss Luo also immediately started investigating. By now, the results should be mostly out. In all likelihood, it was her taking revenge on us.”
“Aside from her, I really can’t think of anyone else who would do such a disgusting thing.”
