Chapter 36.1

The nurse’s words immediately drew everyone’s attention; seeing her in such a rush made it clear that something major had happened.

Luo Yan, listening from the side, suspected that the Omega in trouble was likely the woman from yesterday, especially since the special assistant she happened to run into had told her the same.

She racked her memory and realized she truly had no impression of this female Omega, so she likely wasn’t an important character in the book and shouldn’t have any significant ties to them; still, she asked out of concern: “Is that patient’s condition very serious?”

Dr. He, being familiar with her, quickly answered her question while asking the nurse about the patient’s basic status: “Yes… this is the consequence of long-term suppressant use.” Speaking of which, he couldn’t help but look at Xue Wu: “If Miss Xue uses them a few more times, she might end up with the same side effects as that eldest miss.”

Xue Wu didn’t think much of it herself, but Luo Yan felt a chill hearing it—the side effects of suppressants were far too terrifying. But now that the big villain had her, perhaps things would be a little better?

After a few words with them, Dr. He didn’t linger; he hurried out with the nurse to see what had happened to the patient, who had supposedly been fine yesterday.

Only Luo Yan and Xue Wu were left in the ward; as a precaution, Luo Yan closed the door to prevent anyone else’s pheromones from drifting in and causing trouble.

Xue Wu found her cautious attitude somewhat amusing: “Is this necessary, Yanyan? This is a hospital; they have basic emergency protocols.”

“I don’t care about that; I just don’t want you to be affected.” Luo Yan finished closing the door and windows, then sat back down in front of her, pushing one of the separated bowls of wonton noodles toward her: “Eat while it’s hot; try my family’s cook’s handiwork.”

“My hands have no strength; I want you to feed me.” Xue Wu no longer hid her true nature; she felt she could relax in front of Luo Yan and show her “shameless” side. Furthermore, she actually wanted to see where Luo Yan’s bottom line was and how much she would indulge her.

More importantly… she still hadn’t confirmed the situation between Luo Yan and that “White Moonlight.” From last night, it seemed they weren’t together, but what about after… would they be? When would Luo Yan tell her about that person?

Or was she planning… to keep her in the dark forever?

Luo Yan was indeed surprised—she hadn’t expected her to be so direct in asking to be fed—but knowing this was a sign of trust, she said almost without thinking: “Alright, it’s my honor to take care of Sister A-Wu personally.”

Xue Wu was amused by her behavior and sat before her waiting to be fed: “What time did you sleep last night, Yanyan?”

The wontons were still quite hot; Luo Yan was thoughtful, cooling them down significantly before feeding her. It had to be said, the taste of the wontons was excellent, almost addictive.

“Around 12 o’clock, not too late. I only slept after I saw you fall asleep.” Seeing her eat with such relish, Luo Yan felt warm inside; she’d have to give the cook a raise!

“And you say that’s not late, when you came here so early.” Xue Wu gave her a reproving look, seemingly disapproving of her logic. However, she felt relieved knowing she hadn’t been with the White Moonlight last night.

“I had no choice,” Luo Yan said with mock distress. “Sister A-Wu, you don’t know—I drew a very difficult topic yesterday. I feel like I can’t design anything at all. What if I make a fool of myself on-site?”

“What topic?” Xue Wu glanced at her and asked cooperatively, though she didn’t actually believe Luo Yan was incapable; after all, her “playboy” image seemed to be an act, and she had hidden her talents deeply.

“Just the single word ‘Ink,’ as in ink for writing.” She let out a long sigh and buried her face in Xue Wu’s palm. “Sister A-Wu, if I don’t win an award, don’t laugh at me.”

“Is Yanyan truly incapable, or are you joking with me?” Xue Wu found her rogue-like behavior funny. Her palm touched delicate skin as Luo Yan rolled her face around in her hand, as if playing a game.

At this moment, she didn’t look like an Alpha who would protect her at all times, but more like a puppy acting spoiled.

“Can you guess, Sister A-Wu?” She looked up at her, her hair a bit messy, appearing even more playful.

Xue Wu felt her heart stir at this cute, unconscious display and flicked her cheek: “I think it’s definitely fake.”

“You believe in me that much, Sister A-Wu?”

“Of course. Or what? Am I supposed to doubt my own taste in people?”

“Ahem, well, not exactly…”

Seeing she couldn’t play the “misery card” effectively, Luo Yan let the matter drop, though her mood grew even better; it really did feel good to be trusted.

She sat up straight and continued feeding Xue Wu the small wontons. Xue Wu didn’t want her to keep feeding her indefinitely, as the breakfast was her own after all, and she didn’t want her to go hungry.

Luo Yan didn’t mind: “I’ll eat after Sister A-Wu is full.”

“Such a stubborn little puppy.”

“Sister A-Wu, if I’m a stubborn puppy, then what are you?” Luo Yan’s gaze suddenly turned mischievous. “Are you a tsundere Siberian Forest Cat?”

“Why a Siberian Forest Cat? Wait… what even is that? Can’t I be a fat orange tabby?”

“…Do you look like a fat orange tabby?”

“…Well, not really.”

“Exactly!”

“…”

This nonsensical conversation.

The two looked at each other and burst into laughter. Luo Yan couldn’t resist Xue Wu’s smile; she realized the big villain was completely different before and after her amnesia. Before, she was unsmiling and could intimidate anyone with a look—which was true, as Luo Yan was scared to death by her at the start. She hadn’t dared to be out of line, let alone speak freely.

But after the amnesia, it was different; [bailiantales.com]her true emotions flowed, and she frequently showed unique sides of herself. Luo Yan found this experience incredibly novel.

She also liked this version of the big villain very much.

It felt as though this version was much more real.

She truly hoped she could continue like this in the future, without encountering those annoying things, living according to her heart and doing whatever she wanted.

As they laughed, they unknowingly moved closer until their noses touched, leaving only slow smiles on their lips. Luo Yan naturally leaned down to kiss her, and the atmosphere became increasingly harmonious—only to be suddenly interrupted by a violent knocking at the door. Luo Yan frowned and instinctively shielded Xue Wu behind her. Seeing that the person knocking was the special assistant she saw this morning, she felt quite displeased.

However, she didn’t show it clearly, only reassuring Xue Wu: “He’s probably looking for me.”

“Who is he?” Xue Wu was curious; she hadn’t seen this male Beta before.

“He’s the special assistant of that female Omega who went into heat.”

Luo Yan didn’t have time to explain more and didn’t notice Xue Wu frowning behind her. A White Moonlight wasn’t enough, and now another female Omega? How many “little lovers” did her Alpha have?

Luo Yan walked over and pushed open the door. Assistant Lin was already impatiently stepping forward to speak: “Miss Luo, please save our eldest miss!”

“What’s happened?” Luo Yan sensed something was wrong and pulled the door shut to speak to him outside, her brow furrowed.

“It’s just… our eldest miss’s heat is out of control, but her pheromone compatibility with you should be quite high, so I had no choice but to come here for your help.” Assistant Lin was in a great hurry, almost wanting to drag Luo Yan away to find Xin Jingqiong immediately. But recalling the scene he just saw through the ward window—this Miss Luo actually already had an Omega?!

And it was the popular Movie Queen Xue Wu!

Because of this, he couldn’t force her away.

“What do you mean by ‘help’? I’m not a doctor; how can I help her?”

“…Could you give our eldest miss a temporary mark once?” Assistant Lin made the request with some difficulty.

“What do you think?” Luo Yan felt as though he’d lost his mind. She already had an Omega; how could she possibly mark someone else? How was that different from betraying Xue Wu?

Besides, marking an unidentified female Omega would lead to an even bigger mess.

“Miss Luo, I know this is a lot to ask, but we truly have no other options. If possible, please help us just once.”
