Chapter 28.1
Zhao Xin’s arrival abruptly interrupted Luo Yan’s previous thoughts, but she quickly snapped out of it, refusing to indulge in such negative musings.
Even if she were truly a substitute for the big villain’s “White Moonlight,” so what? At least the joy she felt now was real. Unless the big villain said it herself, she would live according to her heart.
Before she could fully suppress these thoughts, Zhao Xin entered with her phone. Her expression was grave and her tone anxious, causing a tightening in the chest of anyone listening—it made one afraid to approach the truth.
“Don’t worry, give me the phone first.” Luo Yan remained relatively calm. She had long been prepared, knowing that the events the big villain faced were certainly not simple and likely heartbreaking. Nevertheless, she needed to understand the problem before she could solve it.
Seeing her boss so composed, Zhao Xin seemed to calm down a bit, though her expression remained troubled. She feared this Omega named Hao Ya might say something shocking again.
“You are the second young miss of the Luo Group, right?” Before Luo Yan could speak after taking the phone, the other party spoke up impatiently. Luo Yan noticed her tone was much steadier than the hysteria she displayed this morning.
Luo Yan remained silent, seemingly waiting to see the other’s reaction.
“Do you know why I wanted to deal with Xue Wu? Because the Alpha who ruined me wanted her from the very beginning. That Alpha used so many Omegas as experiments.”
At this point, she couldn’t help but grit her teeth again: “Xue Wu ruined so many of us Omegas. If I don’t retaliate against her, who else can I target? She deserves to die! Why does she get to escape? She should be ruined too!”
“Are you finished? If you are, I’m hanging up. You don’t need to look for me again.” Luo Yan listened to the entire tirade with complete composure, leaving Hao Ya stunned on the other end: “Don’t you want to know what actually happened to Xue Wu?”
“Miss Hao, you know I am the second young miss of the Luo Group. If I want to know something, wouldn’t it be faster to send someone to investigate than to listen to your nonsense?”
“…” Hao Ya knew she was telling the truth, but she was unwilling to give up: “I know you care about Xue Wu, but if you knew she had been marked and toyed with, could you still treat her well?”
“What evidence do you have?”
“I am the evidence. Who knows how many Omegas like me were toyed with and then abandoned? I have a list here; you can ask them and see who managed to escape unscathed.”
“What exactly do you want from me?” Luo Yan was cold toward her words, seemingly indifferent, only wanting to know her purpose.
“I want you to promote me.” Hao Ya was indeed unwilling to simply vanish from the entertainment industry. She knew the power of the Luo family and knew Luo Yan was with Xue Wu. She assumed that if Luo Yan knew Xue Wu had been bullied, she wouldn’t let it slide.
In that case, this was her chance; she couldn’t back down.
“You’re dreaming.” Luo Yan found it hilarious. Using information about someone she cared about to threaten her, and then expecting to be promoted? Did she think Luo Yan was some sort of ultimate pushover?
Furthermore, at this stage, she didn’t really need Hao Ya’s help or her “evidence.” She believed in Wei Ying’s ability to uncover the truth. She just hadn’t had time to look at the results yet. Once she did, she would resolve the matter smoothly.
Hao Ya didn’t expect such a response and was left speechless, unable to react. By the time she snapped out of it, Luo Yan had already hung up, leaving only a busy tone.
Hao Ya: “…” This was completely different from what she had imagined. Luo Yan wasn’t susceptible to her threats? Or was she so magnanimous that she could accept a “flawed” and abused Omega?
“Sec… Second Miss… are we just going to hang up on Hao Ya and do nothing?” Zhao Xin had been watching and was also stunned. She wondered if her boss was too calm, or perhaps too cold…
“What else? Should I let her threaten me? Who does she think she is?” Luo Yan didn’t take Hao Ya’s words to heart at all, merely stating: “About half of what she said is likely true; the rest is probably a lie. Why should I be threatened by her in such a situation?”
Of course, that was impossible.
“…Then Second Miss, which parts were true and which were lies?”
“A-Wu… she wasn’t completely violated. She must have escaped, which is why the other party is retaliating.” Moreover, if the big villain had truly been abused, the enemy would have done more than just say ambiguous things—they would have released indecent photos.
Thus, Hao Ya’s words were nothing to fear.
Luo Yan didn’t want to discuss Hao Ya anymore. She could only say that pitiable people often have their own reasons for their plight. Being schemed against and toyed with by an Alpha to such a degree was tragic, but it wasn’t anyone else’s fault.
Luo Yan told Zhao Xin to go back to work, but Zhao Xin remained hesitant, clearly worried.
Luo Yan sighed: “Why are you more worried than I am?”
“That’s because… because…” Zhao Xin didn’t know how to put it. She couldn’t very well say she found her boss unreliable and didn’t trust her.
“Zhao Xin, I know I did many terrible things in the past. But if an Alpha can’t even protect their own Omega, how can they talk about being together?” Luo Yan added a few more words: “I have a handle on this situation. You don’t need to worry too much.”
Though still worried, Zhao Xin finally left. Once she was gone, Luo Yan clicked on the investigation results regarding Xue Wu’s car accident that Wei Ying had sent. She skimmed through it quickly and found that, as Wei Ying said, the cause was several degrees more complex than she had imagined.
It was also quite unexpected.
The person who rear-ended her was indeed the Alpha Xin Jingchun. Regarding this female Alpha… she recalled that her older sister was the powerful one. She relied entirely on her sister’s protection to act like a tyrant in the entertainment industry—a total playboy.
Because of her sister’s pampering, she was bold enough to do such a thing to Xue Wu and even slandered her, claiming Xue Wu was pregnant with her child…
Just thinking about it made Luo Yan want to use her pheromones to discipline the woman. What a mess. How dare she target Xue Wu.
Alphas are possessive; the higher the rank, the higher the possessiveness. Luo Yan looked calm on the surface, but in reality, she wanted to find Xin Jingchun and teach her a harsh lesson.
Furthermore, Xin Jingchun’s actions didn’t stop there. Unlike the original owner, she was a true player who had bullied and ruined many Omegas. In all likelihood, Hao Ya was one of them.
That was why Hao Ya had claimed so confidently over the phone that Xue Wu was no longer “pure.”
But she might have underestimated Xue Wu. She didn’t know the big villain’s strength—that she was someone who would rather get hurt and perish with her enemy than ever submit.
Thus, Luo Yan surmised that… that day in the hotel garden, Xue Wu must have encountered Xin Jingchun. Xin Jingchun had intended to assault her, but she saw through it and disciplined her directly.
She didn’t expect to suddenly walk by and see the scene, only to then be schemed against by Xin Jingchun, nearly falling into a trap herself.
However, she must have escaped from the woman at that time. Otherwise, Xin Jingchun wouldn’t still be living so comfortably; she would have been ruthlessly retaliated against by the big villain.
…
Because Xin Jingchun failed that time, she let her malice grow and rear-ended the big villain to cause the car accident.
…
…
Although Xue Wu’s life wasn’t in danger from the accident, the truth still made Luo Yan furious.
She closed the report and took several deep, difficult breaths, forcing herself to calm down. However, the surging pheromones in her body were uncontrollable, and they shattered a nearby Huanghuali chair into pieces.
This Huanghuali wood chair was priceless; she would have to charge its value to Xin Jingchun.
However, she knew the priority wasn’t to punish the woman but to resolve the news online. Otherwise, Xue Wu’s reputation would truly be ruined.
It wasn’t that Luo Yan wasn’t worried before; she just felt the matter hadn’t reached a tipping point yet. Solving it too early wasn’t the optimal solution.
She either wouldn’t do it, or she would do it perfectly.
So, after reading the results, she suppressed her anger and forced herself to remain as calm as possible.
Moreover… she had to tell Xue Wu the truth about the accident so she would be aware. Otherwise, it would be too terrible.
She was currently heading back to the company to handle some matters, and she had classes later. Talking to the big villain about this would have to wait a little longer.
Thinking about what she had endured without her knowing made her heart ache. What kind of mess had she made in the past just to distance herself and break off the engagement?
Luo Yan was busy until her lunch break after class, finally finding some free time for her own affairs.
She found a quiet corner in the cafeteria to eat and took the opportunity to call Xue Wu.
Just as she was about to call her to tell her the news and that she would help handle it, her classmate Gong Lin suddenly arrived, sat across from her with her food, and called her name with some confusion, “Luo-luo…?”
Then, Xue Wu answered the phone.
Luo Yan: “…”
“Is Yanyan eating with some little lover and accidentally called me instead?” Xue Wu had clearly heard Gong Lin’s call and teased her with an unreadable tone.
“…I’ve been wronged.” Knowing she was at fault, Luo Yan spoke in a pleading tone.
“Hmph.” Xue Wu didn’t truly hold it against her. She let out a soft snort that sounded like acting spoiled, making Luo Yan’s heart feel a bit fluttery.
This was a feeling she’d never had before. The big villain always gave her new experiences.
It was truly surprising.
It also calmed her originally anxious mood, settling her down.
“I was eating by myself just now, and my classmate Gong Lin suddenly came over. I didn’t know what was happening when you picked up.”
“Oh? Is Miss Luo blaming me then?”
“Now I’m even more wronged. How could I blame you? I’m saying it was a coincidence. Don’t take it to heart.”
“Fine, I’ll reluctantly accept that explanation. You go ahead and eat. While you’re at it, ask your classmate Gong Lin what major business she has with you.”
“Sister A-Wu… you’re not actually jealous, are you?” There was a hint of a smile in her voice as she said this.
“Me? Jealous over this? You underestimate me too much.”
“Sigh, this proves… I’m not important enough in your heart.” Luo Yan had no intention of talking to Xue Wu in front of Gong Lin, so she nodded to her and indicated she was leaving. Gong Lin couldn’t even stop her.
Meanwhile, Gong Lin thought… Luo Yan had been so busy lately, often smelling of hospital disinfectant. Combined with that phone call, she felt… something had likely happened between Luo Yan and Movie Queen Xue Wu.
…Maybe they were together.
At the thought of this possibility, Gong Lin felt terrible. She liked Luo Yan too! She hadn’t even confessed and she was already with someone else. Didn’t that mean she didn’t even have a chance?
But what could she do now?
Gong Lin looked in the direction Luo Yan left, feeling conflicted and unsure of what to do.
Luo Yan had no idea Gong Lin was thinking about all these things. After parting ways, she continued her call with Xue Wu. “Sister A-Wu, have you eaten?”
“No, I have no appetite.” She sounded like she was being petty.
“Then… do I have to feed you for you to have an appetite?”
“If Miss Luo is willing to condescend to do so, it wouldn’t be impossible.”
“Ahem, are you serious? Fine, I’ll buy a bowl of porridge tonight and feed you.”
Xue Wu was amused by her helpless yet indulgent tone: “If you’re unwilling, don’t force yourself. I don’t have a habit of forcing people.”
“I’m willing, very willing! How could I not be? It is an Alpha’s honor to serve their Omega.”
“Hmph, sweet talk again.”
“Do you like it though?”
Xue Wu stopped talking. She felt she was being “handled” by this little Alpha, which was unprecedented, especially since she was slightly older than her.
“Okay, okay. If you don’t like it, I won’t say it anymore. I promise.” Feeling her silence, Luo Yan recalled that she also didn’t like the sweet talk this morning, so she would just stop.
“Why are you so obedient with no temper at all?” To some extent, Xue Wu felt she was being unreasonable. Given an Alpha’s personality, she should have retorted or denied it, but she didn’t expect her to just say she wouldn’t do it again.
The little Alpha was obedient, yes, but Xue Wu felt… something was off.
“Hm? Is this being obedient? I’m actually very rebellious.” Luo Yan didn’t consider herself obedient. If she were truly obedient, she wouldn’t be with her; she would have followed the plot and stayed away.
How could she be with her?
“Tell me then, how are you rebellious?” Xue Wu felt if an Alpha like her was rebellious, then no Alpha was obedient.
“Ahem, isn’t being with you very rebellious?” Luo Yan spoke her mind: “We don’t seem very compatible from any perspective. You are so excellent, yet you are with me. I definitely have to listen to you more.”
“I didn’t realize you were such an insecure Alpha.” Xue Wu sighed softly, seemingly surprised. The Luo Yan in her impression wasn’t like this, but she couldn’t remember the details clearly. She felt something was wrong but couldn’t put her finger on it.
“It’s not insecurity; it’s self-awareness.” Luo Yan didn’t feel insecure. She was telling the truth. After transmigrating, she never thought of being with Xue Wu and even tried to escape the plot, but in the end, she couldn’t escape the AO pheromone instinct—she was still attracted to her.
