Chapter 30.1
Luo Yan hadn’t even gotten close enough to actually kiss her before the Omega suddenly caught her wrist. Xue Wu’s fingers slid down from Luo Yan’s palm, gripping her hand firmly before folding it back toward the top of her head—
It made the Omega before her appear weak and innocent, seemingly without any power to fight back.
Luo Yan looked with satisfaction at the Omega’s startled expression, feeling that since the woman was always thinking of playing pranks, she finally had her where she couldn’t do anything. Luo Yan slowly leaned down to kiss her lips.
Xue Wu, however, made a show of opening her mouth to bite her, refusing to let her get close. Her expression was “fierce-cute,” like a cat whose territory had been invaded, bristling and ready to strike.
“Is Sister A-Wu… being mean to me?” Luo Yan asked, slightly surprised. She backed off a little but continued to hold the wrist up, accentuating the Omega’s graceful curves—a blend of suppleness and fragility.
“…What are you doing?” Xue Wu moved her restrained wrist and asked in total confusion.
“Subduing you before kissing you.”
“…Do you think I’m a secret agent or a spy?”
“Sigh, it’s only because Sister A-Wu’s friend is so terrifying. Before she left just now, she whispered so much to you and gave me such a fierce glare. I’m scared.” As she spoke, she pouted, looking completely pitiable and aggrieved.
The friend she was referring to was, of course, Lin Ling. Recalling how she had been forced to miserably eat a huge cup of bitter gourd, Luo Yan found it funny and defended her a bit: “She was just worried about me.”
“I know. I don’t blame her. It’s really good for Sister A-Wu to have a friend like that.”
Luo Yan was genuinely happy that she had such a friend, and a sincere smile appeared on her face. She stopped holding the wrist up and instead brought it down into her own palm, playing with it gently—pinching here, squeezing there—like a child with a new toy. Xue Wu found it rather amusing.
However, when the little Alpha noticed the dense cluster of needle marks on the back of her hand, the smile on her lips vanished. Even though Xue Wu had woken up, she still had to receive many injections every day. She was naturally thin, and her veins were hard to find. A few times would have been fine, but after being in a coma for so long… with daily IV drips, the backs of her hands were painful to look at, covered in bruises.
“Why the face like you’re about to cry? I’m the one being poked, not you.”
“If Sister A-Wu hurts, I hurt too.”
Luo Yan cradled the back of her hand and kissed it tenderly, her face unconsciously revealing her heartache. Xue Wu felt the Alpha’s lips against her skin like a flicker of flame, making her heart feel so tight she could hardly breathe, pounding wildly.
In this moment, she could clearly feel the genuine distress this little Alpha felt for her.
She truly liked her, cared for her.
“Bang—”
“Sister A-Wu… mgh—”
Luo Yan had intended to just kiss the back of her hand and release her to tend to her wound. She didn’t expect that before she could let go, the Omega would suddenly reverse the hold on her wrist and push her back against the headboard of the bed. Before she could react, her hand was pinned down, and soft lips pressed against hers, rendering her unable to say a word.
…She had never expected the Omega to be even better at “playing” than she was as an Alpha.
And… did she just get “counter-attacked”? Ahem, what a glorious defeat.
Xue Wu didn’t close her eyes; instead, she stared wide-eyed at her. Those cat-like eyes were alluring to the extreme, unashamedly revealing the surging, passionate emotions in her gaze. It made Luo Yan feel that her lips were even softer, making her want to consume her whole.
Luo Yan’s heart hammered harder, and her spine went rigid. After locking eyes at such close range for a moment, she realized the gland at the back of her neck was starting to heat up. Even with the suppressant patch, she could barely hold it back. Luo Yan knew she couldn’t indulge any further; using her powerful self-control, she reached out and covered Xue Wu’s eyes, breaking the eye contact.
Xue Wu looked up at her slightly, her lips now rosy and pouted as if in confusion. After a long pause, she teased her with a smile: “Still so cowardly.”
“…” Luo Yan flushed instantly, her pheromones nearly spiraling out of control.
She didn’t dare stay in the ward anymore. She waited outside until she had composed herself before coming back in. As soon as she entered, she saw the Omega sitting comfortably on the bed, smiling at her and silently mouthing the word “Coward,” which made Luo Yan feel embarrassed all over again.
“Sister A-Wu, have mercy on me,” she pleaded, acting spoiled.
“Someone just said they were very fierce—why don’t you show me your fierce side?” The more she acted spoiled, the more fun Xue Wu found it, teasing her until she felt like she had nowhere to hide.
Luo Yan was incredibly embarrassed but helpless; she couldn’t actually be mean to her. “…My ‘fierce’ isn’t for you, it’s for the bad people. On the other hand, Sister A-Wu is ‘fierce-soft’ and even bites.”
“So you mind?” She looked at her with those alluring cat-like eyes, as if she would pounce and bite her if she dared to say “yes.”
“Mind… that’s impossible.” Luo Yan watched her slightly changing expression and laughed as she relaxed upon hearing the second half of the sentence. “Sister A-Wu turns out to be a bit childish too.”
“That’s because someone else was childish first. I’m just learning—who you spend time with is who you become.”
Luo Yan: “…” She felt like she’d been hit by a stray arrow.
Despite her teasing, Xue Wu knew Luo Yan was exceptionally good at talking. She sighed inwardly; she couldn’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t like a little Alpha like this.
“Sister A-Wu, I’m going to disinfect your forehead now. it might hurt a bit, so please bear with it.” After a short rest, Luo Yan brought up the task again. She hadn’t forgotten her heavy responsibility of changing the dressing. She had done it while she was asleep before, but now that she was awake, she had to be even more careful.
“Okay.” Xue Wu trusted her completely, but seeing her more nervous than herself, she couldn’t help but tease: “I’m not made of tofu; I won’t break that easily. Don’t be more nervous than I am.”
“Ahem. Yeah.” Luo Yan tried to relax, but looking at the wound on her forehead still brought a pang of sadness. She felt that the lessons Xin Jingchun and Xue Fu had received weren’t nearly enough. And that Hao Ya—who had done such things to the big villain but escaped immediate consequences due to her illness—needed to be held criminally responsible. She felt it was so unfair for the big villain.
However, she just didn’t have to face them for now. Once enough evidence was gathered, she wouldn’t escape the law. Those who do wrong must always pay a price.
But ultimately, Luo Yan felt that the big villain’s suffering this time was because of Xin Jingchun and Xue Fu.
Especially Xin Jingchun—what was she thinking? Why are there such “IQ-dropping” characters in this book? It’s truly annoying. She suspected the author felt the big villain hadn’t suffered enough in the early stages and forced in these irrational characters just to drive her toward blackening later on.
“Yanyan, am I very ugly right now?” Xue Wu asked suddenly, looking at her expression.
“Not at all. Where did your thoughts wander off to?” Luo Yan stopped her hands and looked down at her, speaking very seriously.
“Don’t coax me. With such a big scar on my forehead, how could it look good?”
“Anyone else might look ugly, but Sister A-Wu, do you have some misunderstanding about your own beauty?” Luo Yan naturally disagreed. She leaned down to look her in the eye, her tone sincere: “Some people look good even wearing a potato sack, yet they insist they’re ugly. Is this the ultimate ‘humble-brag’?”
Xue Wu: “…” She had no reply for that.
“I’m being serious. I was injured twice here; I’m disfigured.” Xue Wu sighed. “If I weren’t an actress, it would be one thing. But I am an actress; even a tiny flaw on my face is magnified. How can this work?”
“It can be removed.” Luo Yan wasn’t just comforting her; it was the truth. Her tone grew even more earnest: “I also don’t like Sister A-Wu having any marks on her.” Especially marks that reminded her of these painful experiences—she hated them even more.
These words… were spoken with a mix of ambiguity and dominance. Xue Wu’s heart skipped a beat, thinking Luo Yan was truly cunning, able to pluck at someone’s heartstrings with just a few words.
“So, Sister A-Wu, don’t worry.” Luo Yan said as she finished dressing the forehead wound.
“Then I’ll trust you.” Xue Wu stopped worrying and gave her a beaming smile that made it impossible to look away.
It was truly a mesmerizing face. Even if she were lying, Luo Yan thought she couldn’t stop herself from falling for her.
“Yeah.” She restrainedly looked away and added: “The scratches on your body need some medicine too.”
Applying medicine to the body meant Xue Wu had to remove her clothes. Previously… Luo Yan had handled all of this, but now that Xue Wu was awake, it was only right to inform her.
“Yanyan, why aren’t you looking at me?” Not only that, her ears were red.
“Ahem, proper behavior dictates not looking where one shouldn’t.” Although they were both women and she had seen her body more than once, it didn’t mean she could just look while the big villain was awake. That would be too rude.
Moreover… Alphas and Omegas are ultimately two different genders, and there should be a certain degree of avoidance.
“So who was helping me change my dressings before?” Xue Wu stopped unbuttoning her clothes and looked at her in confusion.
“…Most of the time, it was me.”
“Did you poke your eyes out to help me then?”
“No…”
“So, what are you shy about now?”
As she spoke, she released a trace of pheromones that swirled around Luo Yan’s wrist, like a comfort and a tease. Luo Yan could barely handle it.
She already loved her pheromones; the original owner had an underlying condition, and the big villain’s pheromones were the best medicine to treat it.
“I think I’ll go out and find a nurse to help you change the dressings.” Luo Yan feared that if she stayed any longer, she would do something “worse than a beast.” She fell silent for a moment, still not daring to look at her, and turned to leave.
“Are you sure you won’t be jealous if you let someone else help me?” Xue Wu naturally wouldn’t let her off, releasing even more pheromones that clung to her in a state of high dependency.
How could Luo Yan not be jealous? But she didn’t dare underestimate the Alpha instinct. Previously, she had no improper thoughts while changing her dressings; even though her body was beautiful—every inch seemingly designed for her aesthetic—it was a miracle such a top-tier Omega could grow up safely. She felt she should cherish her even more.
But now the big villain was awake, and even a sliver of pheromones could stir her thoughts. Helping her change under these conditions was a massive test of her character.
Luo Yan felt she was seeking death; she shouldn’t have impulsively offered to help. She didn’t mind the knowing looks from the doctors and nurses, but she was still an Alpha! How could she remain indifferent?
She sighed and said: “I… I’ll have a professional come in to help you.”
She didn’t even dare look at her while saying this.
If it were anyone else, Xue Wu would think they had a major problem, but looking at Luo Yan, she only found it fun. She wasn’t a mature, intellectual Omega; her personality was quite mischievous, and she loved to toy with people—especially someone like Luo Yan.
She increased the release of pheromones and intercepted her, forcing her to look at her. Caught off guard, Luo Yan nearly fell onto her, bracing her hands on the edge of the bed. She was startled, but the scent of the top-tier Omega’s mesmerizing pheromones filled her nose.
It was the kind of exquisite fragrance that made one involuntarily take a deep breath.
Luo Yan instinctively wanted to inhale deeply, but she caught herself in time. She wanted to stand up and finish what she had to do, but her eyes landed on the big villain’s jade-like collarbones, which were truly beautiful.
