Chapter 32.1

“The winner of the first place… is a student from Li University—Luo Yan!”

“Let us all congratulate and celebrate with her!”

The host didn’t keep them in suspense and spoke directly, his voice rising several decibels, his face beaming with an obvious, contagious excitement!

“My god, Luo Yan? That Luo Yan from Li University?!”

“Did I hear that right????”

“Luo Yan is famous, but she’s only famous for being a playboy, not for having actual talent!”

“Impossible! Absolutely impossible! Did the host read the wrong list? Luo Yan has skipped as many classes as she’s attended. If it weren’t for her father and sister doting on her, she wouldn’t have even made it to her junior year!”

“Exactly! I’d accept anyone else as first place! But her? It’s impossible! I don’t believe she could take first! Her designs have always been a complete mess, anyone with eyes can see that. What is she doing? Taking first? I don’t fucking believe it. Stop fooling us! Scum who buy their way into rankings should get out! This isn’t a place for your antics!”

“Yes! You are literally my spokesperson! You said exactly what was in my heart! Damn, this is disgusting! Fuck! Luo Yan, get out!”

“I thought this competition would be a bit different, but I didn’t expect… I was blind to believe this competition had any integrity!”

“Aaah, this makes me so mad! Why am I in the same competition venue as this scum! It’s polluting the air!”

The host’s originally excited tone wavered because of the crowd. He seemed completely caught off guard by the reaction to the first-place announcement. His assistant, however, had anticipated this and quickly stepped up to whisper in his ear. Only then did the host realize that this first-place winner had quite a notorious reputation.

Although the organizers verify the eligibility of contestants, they only look at basic profiles; they don’t focus on family backgrounds or day-to-day school performance. He truly hadn’t known any of this.

Furthermore, even if he had known, he couldn’t change anything… because their competition doesn’t care about family status. They can’t investigate every contestant’s character; they only care about the work!

“I don’t know what’s wrong with the students down there, judging someone’s work without even looking at it, and not allowing for any growth. What is going on? Do you decide everything based on reputation alone?”

The host was actually one of the judges for this competition and knew the strengths and weaknesses of each contestant. This first-place winner was truly extraordinary. Not only did she draw comprehensive design blueprints, but they were also in 3D. Not only that, she even brought the finished product. When it was displayed before the judges, almost everyone was stunned; they never expected her to be this capable.

It was a piece of work that could win anyone over at a single glance—not something these losers could smear with a few words.

This little Alpha named “Luo Yan” was destined for greatness; given time, she would surely hold a significant place in the jewelry world.

“Judge, you might not know, but Luo Yan is a permanent fixture in the playboy world. She does whatever she wants because she has a billionaire father. she bullies Alphas and oppresses Omegas; who knows how many disgusting things she’s done? With a character like hers, how could she design anything good? If she really did, I’ll shave my head and let her use it as a footstool!”

This was a bold statement, and many people below cheered in agreement. It was just talk, after all—what were they afraid of? It wasn’t like it would actually happen. Regardless, they were determined to strip Luo Yan of her first-place title! Otherwise… they couldn’t accept their loss!

“Yeah! If Luo Yan can design something good… I… I’ll fucking eat shit while doing a handstand!”

“I’ll… I’ll… run ten laps around the school in women’s clothing!”

“Count me in too!”

“No matter what, anyone else can take first, but not Luo Yan! Otherwise, we won’t accept it!”

The surging emotions of the crowd finally shook the Alpha, who had been sitting silently in place, back to reality.

When Luo Yan finally snapped out of the shock of that horrific, indecent photo on her phone, she realized that everyone within a ten-mile radius had moved away; she was the only one left.

Luo Yan: “…” What on earth happened? Why did everyone move away from her?

Though she didn’t quite understand what was going on, she calmly sent the indecent photo to Zhao Xin with a clear instruction: [Investigate this photo.]

Once she sent the photo and put her phone away, she followed the loudest voice to find the person who had first started the commotion about shaving her head. It was a female Alpha, seemingly from her same year.

However, searching her memory, she couldn’t recall the original owner having any history with her. She put it aside for now and responded: “Oh? You said it. But I have no use for your ugly face as a footstool. If there’s no issue with my first-place rank, I don’t want your life—just don’t ever show your face in front of me again.”

“You—Luo Yan, who are you calling ugly? Who knows if you bought this first place with money? How dare you be so arrogant?” The female Alpha seemed half-dead with rage, her neck turning red.

“Student, you can insult me, but… it doesn’t mean you can insult this competition, the hard work of the organizers, or the efforts of all the contestants. These aren’t things you are qualified to insult.” Luo Yan felt this female Alpha was incredibly foolish. Why say things that only offended people? She was truly annoying.

“True… it’s one thing to be unhappy with Luo Yan, but why drag us into it?”

“That’s a bit much…”

“This Luo Yan doesn’t look as bad as they say. Her aura is forbidden yet charming—if you don’t like her, I do!”

“And have you actually looked at her entry? It’s truly quite good… at least, I couldn’t design something like that…”

“Heh, an Alpha of her low rank who uses her family’s power to mess with so many Omegas—only you ‘visual-obsessed’ fans would like her.”

The female Alpha was left embarrassed by Luo Yan’s retort, and seeing many people defending Luo Yan was unexpected. Her face turned various shades of red and white, making the onlookers feel conflicted.

Now, no one was sure if this “notorious” Alpha was truly the playboy from the rumors. Her tone didn’t sound like someone who used the back door to get ahead.

“Alright, let us take a look at the design of the first-place winner, Luo Yan. In my opinion, there is truly nothing to criticize in terms of design sophistication. The only ‘problem’ is… such craftsmanship cannot be mass-produced; it must be handcrafted, making it an absolute luxury item—yet one that everyone would want to own.”

The host, unaffected by the crowd, continued his passionate introduction. Many people below began to feel an inexplicable sense of anticipation, and some even started to change their opinion of the “playboy” Luo Yan.

“Talk is cheap. Let’s take a good look at Student Luo Yan’s design. I guarantee you will all be stunned!”

As he spoke, he projected Luo Yan’s entry onto the giant public screen, allowing everyone to view and appreciate it from a full 360-degree perspective.

“My god… This… Luo Yan designed this? That second-generation heir??? Am I seeing things?!”

“Incredible. It’s designed so well; the gap between this and second place is huge, isn’t it? Is there even a competition?”

“By the way, can someone explain what kind of craftsmanship she used? It’s stunning at first glance.”

“She designed it in gold… gold… gold is not only expensive but hard to design well. It’s very difficult; if the design is off by even a bit, it looks tacky. She’s really bold! No wonder it can’t be mass-produced, it’s so beautiful!”

“Yeah, this gold bracelet probably used filigree inlay techniques, and this kind of setting… I don’t think I could manage that even if someone gave me an extra pair of hands.”

“I… I feel like my face is stinging  wuwuwu.”

“Even the 3D design looks this good; if there were an actual finished product, wouldn’t it be even better?!”

“I’m bowing down. If there’s a real product, I’ll be the first to buy it!”

“Didn’t the host say she brought a finished product? Is she a monster? Does she have to be this competitive!”

The discussion on-site rose in waves, and for some reason, the previous random insults were replaced by praise and admiration. It felt like people changed their minds very quickly!

Meanwhile, a minor streamer had been broadcasting since the middle of the event. When Luo Yan’s work appeared, the streamer’s traffic exploded, jumping from 30,000–40,000 viewers to 100,000 in an instant, hitting the trending spot on the platform and drawing in even more viewers.

—My god, this is too beautiful!

—I never knew gold and gemstones could make such a beautiful bracelet!

—Who is the designer? She looks a bit familiar?

—Seems to be a student at Li University, but her reputation is apparently not very good?

—It’s definitely not good, but that doesn’t stop her work from being beautiful!

—Wuwuwu, if only I were rich!

As Luo Yan’s work became an unexpected hit, Xue Wu found out in a timely manner. This was mainly because Chen Jia had been keeping an eye on Luo Yan’s movements. She knew Luo Yan was participating in this competition, but she hadn’t been sure if she would win anything.

So she hadn’t told Xue Wu, fearing that if Luo Yan failed to advance, she would lose face.

But now the bullet comments were flooded with news of Luo Yan taking first place. Combined with the streamer’s commentary, Chen Jia knew Luo Yan had successfully advanced. It was truly a cause for celebration.

“Boss, Miss Luo advanced!” Chen Jia immediately showed her phone to Xue Wu, her voice unable to hide her excitement.

“Advanced in what?” Xue Wu hadn’t reacted yet, unaware of what had happened.

“Miss Luo participated in this national jewelry design competition for students, and her design took first place! She successfully advanced!”

Chen Jia was so excited she forgot that Xue Wu didn’t know Luo Yan had entered. After hearing the explanation, Xue Wu asked, “The results are only known at the venue?”

The people in the bullet comments were now discussing not only the work but also the Alpha, Luo Yan. They were all spamming “I can handle this little Alpha sister,” which, for some reason, made Xue Wu feel a bit unhappy.

Luo Yan was her Alpha, after all. They had shared a temporary mark, and she was in her dependency period—how could she be indifferent to such words?

“Probably not. They’re told if they advanced beforehand, but the specific results are only announced on-site.” Chen Jia only knew from the streamer’s commentary; this jewelry competition was handled quite interestingly.

“Then… why didn’t Yanyan tell me earlier? She must have known she was coming here to find out her rank before going to school this afternoon.” But she hadn’t mentioned a word.

Xue Wu didn’t want to control everything Luo Yan did, but this was clearly huge news. Her Alpha hadn’t told her first; she had to find out from others that she had entered and won.

This feeling of being overlooked… it made her feel unvalued and mistrusted. Did she really like keeping everything from her that much? This wasn’t the first time; it was inexplicably painful.

“Maybe she didn’t want to make you too emotional… Miss Luo definitely didn’t do it on purpose.”

Chen Jia tried to speak up for Luo Yan. In fact, now that she had calmed down, she also felt that Luo Yan hadn’t handled it well. Knowing she had advanced but not saying anything, letting them find out from others—it felt like there was a barrier between them.

It was inexplicably uncomfortable.

“I think she might really be tired of me. She said I was her White Moonlight, but it doesn’t look like that at all.”

Chen Jia didn’t know what to say to that. She felt something was wrong between Luo Yan and Xue Wu, but she didn’t know what it was. It could only be resolved by the two of them.
