Chapter 72
Just as the passenger seat in Fu Qingyun’s car was always for Su Ziqin, the passenger seat in Fu Chenlan’s car was always for Gu Qingli. Yangyang pouted, looking at his affectionate sister and sister-in-law. At this moment, he felt he shouldn’t be in the back seat but on the car roof instead.
“Sister-in-law, haven’t you hugged enough? Doesn’t it get annoying hugging her like that all the time?” And why are you looking at me so warily when you hug her?
Su Ziqin’s eyes were not friendly. She looked at Yangyang with a smile. She knew what this boy was up to. He wanted to hug her wife as soon as he saw her. “Yangyang is a big boy now. He should find a wife. That way he won’t be so envious of us.”
Fu Qingyun turned her head to look at Yangyang. “Yangyang, do you like boys or girls?”
“No!” Fu Yanyang held his hands up in a big X in front of his chest. “I have no interest in trivial matters like love right now. Getting into a relationship as soon as I debut doesn’t fit my career plan. Sister Fang would break my legs if she found out.”
“You just haven’t found anyone. Don’t try to make yourself sound better than you are,” Fu Chenlan mercilessly exposed him.
Gu Qingli smiled softly at Fu Yanyang. “It’s good that Yangyang has his own plans. But when you meet someone you like, you should learn from your sister-in-law. Don’t learn from your sister.”
Gu Qingli examined Fu Qingyun’s neck. Little Yun’er was clearly the one who made the moves, yet she was being held down and bullied.
“Mom, my wife is great,” Su Ziqin said with a whine, rubbing her soft head against Fu Qingyun’s arm.
Fu Chenlan was a little sour. Sure enough, just like she had said to Li Zhengyin before, among all the married people, only her little Yun’er’s family status was so obvious. Could it be that letting an Omega kiss you while pinning you down on a sofa had this magical effect? Thinking this, Fu Chenlan couldn’t help but look at her own wife’s lips.
“Drive properly,” Gu Qingli said, turning her head and looking at her with a smile. After so many years of marriage, Gu Qingli knew exactly what Fu Chenlan was like. “Stop driving in your head. Save it for tonight.”
Fu Chenlan swallowed. Listen to my wife’s domineering tone. It wasn’t like she hadn’t done the kissing while pinning her down thing before, but her own family status was only slightly higher than poor Yangyang’s.
The silver Porsche left a white trail of light on the street, cutting through the hazy evening, until it stopped in front of a private restaurant.
“Wow.” Yangyang exclaimed. As soon as he got out of the car, he looked around curiously at the exquisite environment. The restaurant was in the old city, like a mysterious estate hidden there.
Jagged rocks and a fake mountain blocked part of the restaurant’s entrance. A pair of lifelike marble lions stood at the door. The scale looked small, like a private garden in Huaiyang. A plaque hung above the door, with two large, bold characters, “Ge Shi Fu.”
Fu Chenlan looked at her son’s actions with disdain, slapping the back of his head. “Can you stop acting like a country bumpkin?”
Fu Yanyang covered his head in a wronged manner. Fu Chenlan’s slap wasn’t light. He was in so much pain that he squeezed out two tears. “Ouch! I’ve lived in Jing City for so long, and I’ve never known there was a private restaurant like this here.”
“This is the Wu family’s property. They left Jing City more than twenty years ago and haven’t opened it since. And it’s not open to the public. It only serves the Wu family’s friends,” Gu Qingli said, stepping forward and knocking on the door. The old brass ring hit the door, making a crisp knocking sound.
“What happened that made an entire family leave? And it was before I was born, so it’s been twenty-six years.” Fu Qingyun listened to the crisp knocking sound. The rhythmic sound was a special Morse code.
Fu Chenlan stretched. “I’m not sure about that. Your godfather has always been obsessed with the battlefield and can’t pull himself away. Strictly speaking, the Wu family all moved away twenty-two years ago.”
“Giving up their own business and just leaving. This family is strange,” Su Ziqin said.
Fu Chenlan shrugged. She didn’t know much about the past. “I’m not sure. Maybe it was because of the head of the Wu family’s official business. After all, that position is not something you can control.”
“That’s true.” Su Ziqin didn’t delve into it. After all, it didn’t have much to do with her.
The door slowly opened, and a middle-aged male Alpha in a suit came out. He looked at Gu Qingli with a smile. “Qingli.”
Fu Qingyun sized up this godfather. He was very tall, at least six feet three. His skin was dark, his eyes were bright, and his back was as straight as a pine tree that never fell. His face had the marks of time, and he didn’t look like he was from the same generation as Gu Qingli.
“Old Cow, don’t call my wife so intimately. Our kids are here,” Fu Chenlan said, pulling Gu Qingli’s hand and looking at Wu Jianjun with a grumpy expression.
Wu Jianjun pushed Fu Chenlan away. “Don’t block my view of my godson and goddaughter!”
“Can you be a little gentler? Is that how you treat an old friend?” Fu Chenlan rubbed her numb shoulder. This guy’s hands are really heavy.
Wu Jianjun raised an eyebrow at Fu Chenlan. You can steal my love, but I can’t vent my frustration at you? He took out a red envelope from his suit pocket and handed it to Fu Qingyun and Fu Yanyang.
“Here, a red envelope from your godfather.”
“Thank you, Godfather,” Fu Yanyang said sweetly, taking the red envelope. Fu Yanyang had been too busy recently and hadn’t asked Sister Fang about his income, which made him the poorest person in the family right now.
Fu Qingyun pulled Su Ziqin’s hand, signaling her to take the red envelope. Su Ziqin reluctantly stepped forward and took the red envelope from Wu Jianjun. “Thank you, Godfather. Fu Qingyun is my wife.”
However, Wu Jianjun unconsciously squeezed the red envelope. He stared at Su Ziqin with a dazed expression. His mind had drifted off somewhere, as if he were looking at someone else through Su Ziqin’s face. “A-Jing.”
Su Ziqin was a little awkward. She didn’t know whether to let go or to pull the red envelope out. If she pulled it out, this guy was holding it a bit too tightly. If she let go, it would seem disrespectful. “What should I do?” Su Ziqin whispered to Fu Qingyun.
Fu Qingyun stepped forward and held Wu Jianjun’s hand. “Godfather?” Her brain automatically started to work. She had discovered something incredible. Godfather is related to the little fox…
“Sorry. I lost my composure.” Wu Jianjun let go of the red envelope. He hadn’t yet snapped out of his surprise. His throat was a bit choked up. He looked at Su Ziqin. “Child, what’s your name?”
Su Ziqin looked at Fu Qingyun with some doubt. Fu Qingyun nodded, indicating that it was okay to say. Su Ziqin didn’t think much of it and replied, “My name is Su Ziqin.”
“Ziqin?” Wu Jianjun repeated the two characters. “As in qīngqīng zǐjīn?”
Fu Chenlan looked at Wu Jianjun impatiently, put her arm around his shoulder in a friendly way, and said, “I’m telling you, Old Cow, you can’t have a crush on my daughter-in-law. She’s only in her early twenties.”
“Get out of here, Fu Chenlan!” Wu Jianjun snapped out of his daze and pushed Fu Chenlan away. “Your mouth is always spouting nonsense. I just think the girl looks like my sister.”
Fu Chenlan regained her balance, frowned, and looked at Wu Jianjun with some disgust. “You, a goof, have a sister?”
“Fu Chenlan!” Wu Jianjun kicked Fu Chenlan. The two of them were playfully bickering like two little kids in kindergarten. Fu Chenlan ran ahead while Wu Jianjun rolled up his sleeves and chased after her.
Fu Yanyang watched in amazement. His mother had always been a serious figure in front of him. When did she become so lively? Fu Yanyang turned his head, his puppy-dog eyes looking at Gu Qingli with some sympathy. “Mom, you’ve suffered all these years.”
“Yangyang is really so disrespectful now,” Gu Qingli said with a gentle smile.
But Fu Yanyang felt that his mother’s smile contained a hidden threat. He unconsciously leaned back, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “I’m sorry, Mom.”
“Let’s go,” Fu Qingyun said, patting Fu Yanyang’s back. She looked at Gu Qingli with a gentle, chiding look.
Gu Qingli shook her head helplessly and pinched her daughter’s cheek. “You’re going to spoil your brother.”
“I think so too,” Su Ziqin chimed in. This little golden retriever, Yangyang, was too clingy to Fu Qingyun. When they got out of the car, he even secretly told her that he wanted to stay with them for a few days during their vacation. That’s a definite no! She loved being intimate with Fu Qingyun in every corner of the house. What was the point of having a third person there?
“Sister-in-law! You’re getting revenge!” Fu Yanyang knew very well that his words from before had gotten on Su Ziqin’s nerves.
Su Ziqin smiled and hugged Fu Qingyun’s arm tightly. “Wifey, look at him. He’s so mean to me. Don’t let him stay at home.” I want to be intimate with you everywhere. Don’t let him come!
“Alright, Yangyang won’t be staying at home forever,” Fu Qingyun said soothingly.
Su Ziqin didn’t like the sound of that. “No!”
“My sister loves me after all.” Fu Yanyang whined and was about to hug Fu Qingyun. Su Ziqin quickly blocked him and whispered in his ear, “Have you forgotten your agreement with Grandpa? My sister and I have only made a little progress these past few days. You want to come and watch?”
Fu Yanyang shuddered and had an “I get it” expression on his face. “Sister-in-law, you should have just said so. I thought you guys weren’t doing anything for a year.”
“Get out of here!” Su Ziqin pinched Fu Yanyang’s waist. “Is it because I’m not trying hard enough?”
Fu Yanyang let out a cry and bounced three meters away from Su Ziqin. “Sister-in-law, you’re so cruel! I can’t have kids!” Fu Yanyang ran away after saying that.
Su Ziqin gritted her teeth, a hint of anger in her amber eyes. “Fu Yanyang! You’re going too far!” She quickly chased after Fu Yanyang. The little kids’ game of “he runs, she chases” now had two more participants.
Gu Qingli chuckled, looking at her daughter’s helpless expression. “Little Yun’er, you’ve been through a lot.”
Fu Qingyun was speechless at her mother’s words. The phrase sounded a little familiar, but it wasn’t appropriate for her to say anything disrespectful to Gu Qingli. “It’s not hard.”
“I know. It’s all for your wife,” Gu Qingli said.
“Mom!” Fu Qingyun never thought her usually gentle mother would say such brazen things. A playful glint flashed in Gu Qingli’s eyes. “My little Yun’er has grown up. She can even understand dirty jokes now.”
Fu Qingyun mumbled, “Your daughter-in-law taught me.”
“Hahaha,” Gu Qingli laughed out loud when she saw her daughter’s innocent and bewildered expression. The family was bustling with life in this small courtyard… As night fell completely, a completely different story was unfolding on the other side of the city.
