Chapter 66
The night was cool and clear. Su Ziqin wore a coat over her thin hospital gown, sitting with Xu Zhiqian and Princess Louise at a barbecue stand in a small courtyard behind the hospital. Watching Xu Zhiqian relentlessly pouring alcohol down her throat, she finally couldn’t take it anymore and snatched the beer bottle from her hand.
“You don’t say a word, you don’t eat, you just drink as soon as you get here. What’s wrong with you?”
Louis, who loved a good spectacle, added a sarcastic remark. “Exactly. So what if your Alpha cheated? Just find another one.”
“Can you shut up?” Su Ziqin shot her a glare. “You’re a royal princess. Is it appropriate for you to be at a roadside stall with commoners like us? You should leave.”
Louise shrugged, picked up a skewer from the table, and ate it with an air of elegance, as if she were at a grand royal banquet. “This tastes good. I may be a princess, but I’m also a person. I used to eat these all the time in school.”
“Heh, you’re so down-to-earth.” Su Ziqin’s lips twitched. She quickly checked on Xu Zhiqian, who, in that short time, had started drinking again.
“Are you sick?” Su Ziqin was furious. She yanked the beer bottle away and slammed it down on the flimsy wooden table.
Xu Zhiqian took the bottle back and kept drinking. “You don’t know what happened?” Xu Ziqian coughed twice, having drunk so quickly that she choked.
Su Ziqin quickly pulled a few tissues for her and patted her back. “Slow down, nobody’s going to steal it from you.”
“You’re not going to steal it?” Xu Ziqin gave Su Ziqin a self-deprecating smile. “You didn’t fight with your fairy?”
At these heartless words, Su Ziqin’s amber eyes darkened. She pursed her lips, grabbed the beer bottle from Xu Ziqian, and took a big swig. “Heh, that bitch!”
Louise’s eyebrows rose at the sight. She elegantly poured herself a glass. “Seeing you two like this, wouldn’t it be rude if I didn’t drink too?”
Xu Zhiqian, a little disoriented, looked at Louise and tapped her temple. “Aren’t you the princess of the Country Y, the one and only SS-rank Omega?”
“Oh, am I that famous?” Louise raised her glass to Xu Zhiqian and downed it in one go. “Then I’ll drink to you.”
Xu Ziqin scoffed and waved her away. “I don’t care who you are. You’re our Su Ziqin’s love rival anyway. If it wasn’t for the little fairy being frigid, I wouldn’t be sitting at the same table as you.”
Xu Ziqin pulled the peanuts closer to her. Her movements were sluggish, clearly showing she was a bit drunk. She almost shoved a peanut up her nose.
“Who? Fu Qingyun is frigid?” Louise’s expression was incredulous. She glanced at Su Ziqin’s unhappy look. “You’re kidding, right? Her rank isn’t low. How is that possible?”
Su Ziqin’s eyes were cold as she shot a chilling look at Louis. “Just shut up. What does it have to do with you?”
Su Ziqin tugged on her inhibitor patch, deliberately revealing a bit of it to Louis. Louis, with her sharp eyes, immediately saw the permanent mark on Su Ziqin’s neck. A permanent mark carries the Alpha’s pheromone scent and leaves a faint impression on the Omega’s gland.
“Hmph.” A sour feeling welled up in Louise’s heart. “I guess I should have just laughed off the ‘Fu Qingyun is frigid’ thing. So, a frigid person gives Miss Su a permanent mark?”
The noble princess of the Country Y had lost to an ordinary girl from China. Louise ordered more alcohol from the owner. Her alcohol tolerance was good, and she didn’t feel much after drinking one glass after another.
It was already late when they had come out, and now it was almost ten o’clock. The three of them were all troubled and got drunker the more they drank.
“She and Hua Yiqing have so much history. What am I supposed to do? How old was I back then?” Xu Zhiqian sniffled, getting sadder the more she thought about it. She didn’t even notice that her phone had run out of battery.
Su Ziqin patted her on the shoulder. “Don’t even get me started. My bitch is the same. She doesn’t tell me anything. At least you have a general idea of what happened to Sister Yin, right? I don’t know anything. All I can do is listen to her call other women’s names in the middle of the night.”
“What? Who’s she calling? Not me, right?” Louise teased.
Xu Zhiqian gave Louise an eye-roll. “What’s it to you? You shut up. Don’t think I won’t smack you just because you’re a foreigner.”
Louise pursed her lips. She was genuinely afraid this drunkard would have a moment of clarity and give her a slap. Su Ziqin looked a little more normal, but Xu Zhiqian was clearly out of it.
Seeing Louise fall silent, Xu Zhiqian unsteadily pulled Su Ziqin close. “Let me tell you, Fairy Fu carries everything on her own shoulders; she won’t bother you. It’s not that she won’t tell you, she’s just waiting for the right time.”
If Fu Qingyun were there to hear Xu Zhiqian’s words, she’d probably give her a big thumbs-up, as she’d hit the nail on the head.
Su Ziqin sniffled. “But who can take it, with so many secrets?”
“Don’t you have any secrets you’re keeping from her?” Xu Zhiqian scoffed. Her hand trembled as she held the bottle but still managed to pour the alcohol down her throat.
Su Ziqin froze. She hadn’t told Fu Qingyun that she was reborn. She didn’t know how to bring it up. The whole thing was so outlandish, just like the abilities Fu Qingyun had shown. And her initial intentions toward Fu Qingyun were far from pure; they were full of malice. “I…”
Su Ziqin couldn’t find the words. She just took a big gulp of alcohol to face the cold wind. “You’re good at lecturing me. What about you? Isn’t Sister Yin good to you? She’s so obedient and takes care of you. You’ve turned the formidable Tiger of Jing City into a little kitten.”
“But I’m not over it,” Xu Zhiqian said, thumping her chest hard. She showed no pity for herself, using considerable force. “She and Hua Yiqing have so much history. They dated and slept together. Every time I see Hua Yiqing, I feel like I’m the other woman.”
Louise couldn’t help but interject. “Hold on, I’m lost. That Hua-something, is she your wife’s ex-wife?”
Xu Zhiqian rolled her eyes and said, grinding her teeth, “Ex-girlfriend. They broke up ten years ago.”
“Huh?” Louise had never heard of anything so ridiculous. “How can an ex-girlfriend who broke up with you ten years ago still be clinging to your wife? Shouldn’t a good ex stay in the grave?”
When Xu Ziqin heard this, she gave Louise a big thumbs-up. “Your Highness, it’s been a whole night, and that’s the only thing you’ve said that sounds like a person!”
Louise’s lips twitched. “The way you Chinese people compliment people is truly unique.”
“You’ve been drinking all night and you still haven’t said what happened with Sister Yin. You said on the phone that she cheated?” Su Ziqin’s voice rose. She couldn’t believe Li Zhengyin would cheat.
Xu Zhiqian shook her head. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she let out a self-deprecating sniffle. “I just… when I called her, Hua Yiqing was the one who answered.”
“Hua Yiqing?” Su Ziqin was stunned for a moment. This sounded very unusual. “Where is Sister Yin today?”
Xu Zhiqian took a bottle opener and uncapped a new bottle. Maybe she was tired of drinking from the bottle, so she switched to a glass. The golden liquid slowly flowed down the glass, creating a ring of white foam. Xu Zhiqian held the glass to her lips. “She went to the Chengnan film and television city to meet a spokesperson for a project.”
“That spokesperson wouldn’t be that ex-girlfriend, would she?” Louise clinked her glass against Xu Zhiqian’s.
Xu Zhiqian shook her head and drank the whole glass. “I don’t know, because the tiger doesn’t know either.”
Su Ziqin propped up her heavy head, blinking at Xu Ziqian. A faint blush slowly spread across her pale face. “I’m a little curious. What on earth did Hua Yiqing say on the phone that made you drink your sorrows away?”
“Heh,” Xu Zhiqian let out a very ugly laugh. “She said the tiger was taking a shower at her place, and they were going to have a nice afternoon and evening. Damn that shameless woman!”
Xu Zhiqian clenched her fist and slammed it on the table. The plate of peanuts jumped, and a few peanuts rolled off onto the table.
“So nothing happened, right? Did you ask Sister Yin?” Su Ziqin laughed. She thought Xu Zhiqian was worrying for nothing.
Louise glanced at Xu Zhiqian’s ugly face and tutted. “Looking at her, you can tell she definitely didn’t call her wife.” And this kid was saying earlier that she felt like she was the third wheel.
Su Ziqin squinted at Xu Zhiqian and gave her a poke on the forehead. “Are you stupid? You don’t ask Sister Yin about something like this, and you just sit here drinking?”
“You don’t understand,” Xu Zhiqian said sullenly. “Just like I said before, I feel like I’m the one who’s extra between them. The tiger loved Hua Yiqing very much before.”
“You said ‘before’,” Louise said, annoyed. “Do you have any idea what’s going on? She’s the third party now. You two are married, legal wives, remember?”
Although Su Ziqin didn’t like Louis, she pointed at her and said to Xu Zhiqian, “She’s right. Can’t you get your own position straight?”
“I… I was the one who took her to bed. I’ve always felt that she was just doing it to be responsible…” Xu Zhiqian’s weak words were not finished yet.
“That’s crap!” Su Ziqin wanted to slap Xu Zhiqian. “I know Sister Yin’s personality too well. If she didn’t like you, there’s no way she’d have sex with you!”
Xu Zhiqian’s heart trembled. All this time, she had thought that she and Li Zhengyin’s relationship started because of that impulsive night, believing the other person was just as impulsive as she was.
Su Ziqin didn’t stop. “Who is Li Zhengyin? Do you really not know her better than me? Xu Zhiqian, she has worked so hard, trying to build a home for you. For more than a year, if Hua Yiqing hadn’t intentionally approached her, do you think Sister Yin would have had anything to do with her?”
“I miss her,” Xu Zhiqian said, her heart aching from Su Ziqin’s words. The tears in her eyes finally fell, sliding down her cold face.
Su Ziqin took Xu Zhiqian’s phone from the table and put it in her hand. “Call her! Or just go home now.”
“What about you?” Xu Ziqin was sobered by Su Ziqin’s words. “What are you going to do? Just stay angry at Fairy Fu like this?”
Fu Qingyun’s face and voice appeared in Su Ziqin’s mind like a movie. Su Ziqin touched her irregularly beating heart. “It’s enough that I love her. I’m so in love with her. You’re right, I also have secrets I haven’t told her. I’m going to find her!”
As Su Ziqin said this, she took out her phone and called Fu Qingyun. A cold female voice came from the phone. “Hello, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable.”
“It’s off,” Su Ziqin said blankly. A moment later, she swayed and stood up. “I’m going home to find her.”
“I’m going back to find the tiger, too.” Xu Zhiqian also stood up drunkenly, unsteadily draping her arm over Su Ziqin’s shoulder.
The only sober person left was Louise. Two drunkards were a real pain. She paid the bill, walked between them, and propped them up. “I can’t believe you two! Don’t fall asleep! Hey, Su Ziqin! Xu Zhiqian!”
Su Ziqin and Xu Zhiqian were both completely out of it. Louise had no idea where they lived. “I guess I’ll just drag you both back to the hospital.”
Louise carried one on each side, slowly walking down the path back to the hospital. The warm yellow light stretched their three shadows long. Unnoticed by anyone, a figure quietly approached the three Omegas walking at night…
Louise: Is there any love rival in this world like me?
