Chapter 48

The familiar nickname pulled Fu Qingyun back to reality. Before Fu Chenlan could get close, Fu Qingyun hugged Fu Chenlan’s waist tightly. The dying terrorist breathed his last after firing his gun. The bullet cut through the air and went through Fu Qingyun’s lower back.

She didn’t feel any pain. Fragments of memories about the person in front of her appeared in her mind. Most of them were of her being held in her arms when she was still a baby. She would call her, “Little Yun’er.”

Fu Qingyun wanted to open her mouth and call her “Mom,” but the memories from that other world appeared in her mind at an inopportune moment.

“Her parents must have found out she was a monster and threw her away.”

Fu Qingyun let go of Fu Chenlan. Her long eyelashes hid the fleeting disappointment in her eyes. “Let’s save the person first.”

“Okay,” Fu Chenlan held back her emotions and helped Fu Qingyun.

Fortunately, Fu Qingyun had 12138 as her little assistant. They quickly gathered the necessary items, and the little girl was successfully saved.

Fu Qingyun picked up the little girl and was about to leave. Fu Chenlan held her back. “Little Yun’er, you’re hurt.”

Fu Qingyun shook her head. “It doesn’t hurt.”

“I’ll carry her,” Fu Chenlan said, reaching out her hand, stubbornly wanting to share the burden. Fu Qingyun nodded and handed the little girl to Fu Chenlan.

As soon as Fu Qingyun walked out of the hotel, Louise saw her from a distance and breathed a sigh of relief. She really wanted to go up and give Fu Qingyun a hug, but someone was faster than her.

When Su Ziqin saw Fu Qingyun, she quickly rushed towards her. “Are you okay?” Su Ziqin quickly examined Fu Qingyun’s body and saw that her lower back was bleeding. “You’re hurt!”

Su Ziqin was about to go and find Lu Nian to take a look. Fu Qingyun held her back. “I’m fine,” Fu Qingyun said, reaching out and pulling the bullet out of her lower back. She casually threw the bullet on the ground.

“Why are you pulling it out with your hand?” Su Ziqin was so anxious that tears were about to fall. She pulled Fu Qingyun to go find Lu Nian to get things to bandage the wound.

Fu Qingyun saw her flustered look and said calmly, “It’s fine. It’ll heal on its own. There’s no need to bandage it.”

Su Ziqin didn’t pay attention to what she said. She lifted her clothes. The bullet had hit Fu Qingyun’s left dimple of Venus. “Are you out of your mind from not feeling pain? Can a wound heal on its own without being treated?”

Alcohol was sprayed on the wound. Su Ziqin used a gauze to wipe away the blood around it, but the wound was already beginning to heal, just as Fu Qingyun had said. “This…”

“You forgot I’m SSS-grade,” Fu Qingyun said helplessly. In fact, it had nothing to do with her grade. Her brain would simply quickly mobilize cells to repair her body.

Su Ziqin gave Fu Qingyun a punch on the shoulder. The punch was light and had no force. “I worried about you for nothing.”

“You worried about me?” Fu Qingyun looked at her. She didn’t expect her relationship with Su Ziqin to be this good.

Su Ziqin rolled her eyes at her. “What are you talking about? You’re my wife. If you die, wouldn’t I be a widow? But you have a big family and a big business, so I won’t lose out.”

After Su Ziqin finished speaking, she kissed Fu Qingyun’s lips. Her eyes were full of smiles as she looked at Fu Qingyun. “It’s just hard to find a wife this pretty.”

“I’m sorry,” Fu Chenlan walked up to them. She said to Su Ziqin, “Can you lend her to me for ten minutes? Just ten minutes.”

Fu Chenlan’s eyes were very serious and sincere. She even looked at Su Ziqin with a hint of pleading. Su Ziqin’s heart trembled. She nodded blankly and then retreated to a distance.

Fu Chenlan looked at Su Ziqin’s distance and confirmed that she couldn’t hear her conversation with Fu Qingyun before she spoke.

“Little Yun’er, it’s you, isn’t it?”

Fu Chenlan couldn’t help but reach out and touch the beauty mark under Fu Qingyun’s eye. Her eyes were full of love and longing.

Fu Qingyun turned her head away, avoiding her hand. “Mom, you didn’t want me because I’m a monster, right?”

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Fu Chenlan’s heart felt like it had been clenched tightly by her words. She held Fu Qingyun’s shoulders. Her eyes were red and full of heartache. Fu Chenlan gritted her teeth. “Did someone say that to you over there?”

Fu Qingyun was stunned by Fu Chenlan’s expression. “You didn’t abandon me?”

Fu Chenlan directly put her forehead against Fu Qingyun’s. “See for yourself.”

Fu Qingyun’s brain automatically operated, reading the memories in Fu Chenlan’s mind related to her…

When she was still in the womb, Fu Qingyun heard Fu Chenlan’s hopeful voice… “Little Yun’er, come out early. Your mother will give you all the good things in the world.”

When she was just born, she was gently held in Fu Chenlan’s arms. She kissed her baby’s forehead like all mothers. “My little Yun’er is so beautiful.”

When she was one, Fu Chenlan would put Fu Qingyun on her shoulders and take her to the zoo. “Little Yun’er must love pandas. Your mother will adopt one in your name later.”

These memories were all beautiful. When she was five, Yanyang was born. Fu Chenlan was very busy every day and would work late in the study. Five-year-old Fu Qingyun pushed open the study door and handed the business plan in her hand to Fu Chenlan. “Mom, this is my business plan. I don’t want you to be so tired.”

However, Fu Chenlan took the business plan, and her eyes were not filled with joy, but with shock and fear. “Why is this happening? Little Yun’er, who taught you this?”

The little Fu Qingyun didn’t know why her mother was a little angry. She just tilted her head and said, “No one taught me. I just understand it after reading it once.”

Fu Chenlan hugged the little Fu Qingyun tightly. That day, her mother’s hug was very tight.

At eight, Fu Chenlan’s eyes were red as she touched Fu Qingyun’s head. “We’ll wait for you to come back. Little Yun’er won’t forget the way home, right?”

“She’ll lose her memories before she was eight.” Fu Qingyun recognized this voice. It was the voice of the person who adopted her. As usual, Fu Qingyun couldn’t see the person’s face through her memory.

“Come back,” Fu Chenlan said with a choked voice.

“At eighteen, she’ll come back.”

The memory retrieval was complete. Fu Qingyun threw herself into Fu Chenlan’s arms. It was as warm as the memory. “Mom.”

“How could I not want you? How could I not love you?” Fu Chenlan stroked the top of her head, holding back the tears in her eyes. “I thought you wouldn’t come back, but it’s okay. You’re back.”

“Little Yun’er, can you tell me how you’ve been all these years?” Fu Chenlan remembered what Fu Qingyun had said before. Her heart felt like it had a lump in it.

Fu Qingyun shook her head, not wanting to talk about these unpleasant things with Fu Chenlan right now. “It’s been too long. I don’t remember.”

“Tsk,” Fu Chenlan pinched Fu Qingyun’s ear. “You’ve really grown up. You’ve even learned to lie to your mom. You won’t forget.”

Fu Qingyun’s dark eyes sank. She knew that Fu Chenlan probably knew about her brain’s power. “It’s nothing. People are always afraid of the unknown. I was just called a monster by others.”

“You’re home. No one will say that to you anymore. It’s been seventeen years. I thought I’d never wait for you.”

Fu Qingyun looked up from Fu Chenlan’s arms. Her dark eyes had a rare look of confusion. “Who is she? That person.”

“Are you talking about that BBQ pork?” Fu Chenlan’s tone was obviously colder when she mentioned the original owner. “She was just a clone made by your mother and the mysterious person who adopted you to temporarily take your place. Her consciousness was also coded by the mysterious person according to the plot before he left, but then she became detached.”

A cold glint flashed in Fu Chenlan’s eyes. Fu Qingyun tried to read more of Fu Chenlan’s memories, but Fu Chenlan stopped her. “You can’t read it. Your mom set up a so-called firewall in our minds to protect us.”

“Mom is the same as me?” Fu Qingyun asked.

Fu Chenlan pinched her face. “Isn’t she just like you? How else would she have given birth to such a beautiful Little Yun’er?”

“Speaking of which, you get along with that Omega quite well,” Fu Chenlan said, thinking about Su Ziqin. She could tell that Su Ziqin genuinely liked Fu Qingyun, and Little Yun’er wasn’t completely indifferent to her.

Fu Qingyun tried to tell Fu Chenlan about Su Ziqin’s rebirth, but… it was still blocked. “It’s okay. We get along quite well.”

“Little Yun’er, I know you still have some questions, but because of the limitations here,” Fu Chenlan said, pointing to her head, “I can’t tell you too much. When you see your mom in a while, she can tell you slowly.”

Fu Qingyun tilted her head. “Can’t I see Mom now?”

Fu Chenlan shook her head and sighed. “Your mom has already had her second heart. A while ago, her second heart also started to fail. The doctor said she can’t have too many emotional changes recently.”

“Because of this?” Fu Qingyun asked, pointing to her head. Fu Chenlan nodded. “Yes, because of this, her body is getting worse. She might… not have much time left, but it’s okay. Qingli will be very happy to see you again.”

“I have a way,” Fu Qingyun said, not letting Fu Chenlan fall into sorrow. This made a ray of hope flash in Fu Chenlan’s eyes. “Really? Little Yun’er?”

Fu Qingyun nodded. “The place I went to was almost a hundred years ahead of here. Using the knowledge from there and the resources here, I can research a medicine. As long as she uses it for a while, her body won’t collapse because of this.”

“That’s great,” Fu Chenlan said, looking up and sighing heavily. Her wife’s illness and her child’s departure were the heaviest burdens on her heart, but today, she felt complete. Her child was back, and there was hope for her wife’s illness.

The sky in Country Y was finally clear. The sun shone on the ruins, giving the broken walls a golden coat. The clear weather was like hope, bringing hope to this city that had just been ravaged.

Su Ziqin hid behind a truck, covering her mouth so she wouldn’t make a sound. Tears fell uncontrollably from her eyes. Every word of Fu Qingyun and her mother’s conversation reached her ears. Su Ziqin’s hearing had improved a lot. Their dialogue was so clear to her.

Fu Qingyun was Fu Qingyun, not the person from her previous life. A taut, invisible string in her heart snapped at this moment.

“This is so good,” Su Ziqin leaned against the truck. The person she thought of and loved was the current, real Fu Qingyun. She hadn’t loved the wrong person.

But… Su Ziqin lowered her head. Her amber eyes showed a hint of complexity. Fu Qingyun and Fu Chenlan said many things she couldn’t understand.

Su Ziqin looked at the sky in a daze. “Did people call Fu Qingyun a monster in the other place?”
