Chapter 55

Su Ziqin’s heart trembled, and even the hand holding her phone shook. Remembering the conversation between Fu Qingyun and Fu Chenlan from before, Su Ziqin threw the phone onto the table and hugged Fu Qingyun again. “No, you’re my little fairy.”

Su Ziqin was very sincere. More than anything, she hoped Fu Qingyun would be happy every day and not get lost in her thoughts.

“Little fox, that’s so good,” Fu Qingyun said with a sigh of relief, hugging her back.

Seeing Fu Qingyun like this, Su Ziqin knew that she wasn’t overthinking things anymore. She patted her on the back. “But you still need to see a doctor. For an Alpha, this is a little serious.”

“Okay.”

Su Ziqin then got up and made an appointment with their private doctor for Sunday evening. Since they were using the Fu family’s private hospital, there were no issues with security or privacy. Fu Chenlan had given Su Ziqin the contact information before and had repeatedly emphasized that if either of them needed to see a doctor, they should go to a private hospital.

The two of them didn’t linger for long and went to lunch. However, for the original book’s protagonist, Su Yingying, the day was not so pleasant.

At the film and television city in the south of the city, today was the last day of filming for Su Yingying. Although Hua Yiqing didn’t like Su Yingying much these days, she had to admit that Su Yingying’s acting talent was genuine. With Hua Yiqing’s guidance, Su Yingying had improved very quickly.

Everything on set was going smoothly. This scene was a confrontation between Hua Yiqing and Su Yingying’s characters. The protagonist played by Hua Yiqing was ambushed by the villain played by Su Yingying. In the end, the protagonist realized what was happening and killed the villain.

The director looked at the two nearly perfect performances on camera and was reluctant to yell “cut.” A loud noise interrupted the filming.

“Su Yingying! Get out here!”

A man’s angry roar pulled Su Yingying out of character. The man, ignoring the staff’s attempts to stop him, rushed onto the set.

Su Yingying saw the man’s enraged expression from a distance. Every strand of his hair seemed to say, “I’m very angry right now.” This man was her biological father, Su Chengye. Su Yingying never expected Su Chengye to show up on set like this. Su Yingying grabbed the corner of Hua Yiqing’s clothes and hid behind her.

Su Chengye stepped forward, ready to grab Su Yingying. Su Yingying was quick and used Hua Yiqing as a shield. Su Chengye couldn’t stop in time, and his hand hit Hua Yiqing’s shoulder.

“Hiss.” Hua Yiqing cried out in pain. She stepped aside, letting Su Yingying out. “Your family drama, please don’t act it out in front of the cameras.”

Hua Yiqing’s face was not good. She covered her sore shoulder and followed her assistant back to the lounge. The director, who was forced to stop filming, also looked upset. Giving Hua Yiqing some respect, the director didn’t get angry at Su Yingying. He just told the crew around him, “Let’s stop filming for now.”

“Su Yingying, you and this gentleman can talk in the lounge,” the director’s meaning was clear: he was giving Su Yingying some face.

Su Yingying was uneasy after hearing this, but she thought that talking in private was better than being publicly humiliated by her biological father.

“Father, please come with me,” Su Yingying said timidly, pulling on Su Chengye’s sleeve.

Su Chengye was furious. He flung Su Yingying’s hand away and stormed off. He didn’t go to the lounge but took Su Yingying to the underground parking garage.

The father and daughter walked one after the other. The sounds of their footsteps echoed in the empty parking garage, one heavy and one slow.

“What’s wrong with you?” Su Chengye turned around. His eyes were bloodshot, showing that he hadn’t rested well recently. “Qingyun used to like you. What was your attitude towards her? And what’s wrong with you now? Do you think the Su family’s business came from nowhere?”

“I know,” Su Yingying said calmly, taking a deep breath. The Su family’s business was on the verge of bankruptcy. It was Fu Chenlan’s help after Fu Qingyun and Su Ziqin’s marriage that revived the Su family. In short, the Su family was what it was today because they had sold Su Ziqin.

Su Chengye saw her self-righteous look and was so angry that he nodded his head. “You know? I asked you if you were willing to marry Qingyun. Even though the Fu family’s business wasn’t as big as the Qin family’s, Qingyun was very good to you. What did you say? You looked down on that Alpha and wanted Su Ziqin to marry her instead.”

Su Chengye tugged at his tie, loosening the collar a bit. The weather was a bit stuffy, and he was sweating a lot because he was angry. “And you went after Su Ziqin? If you were going to go after her, you should have been cleaner about it and not involved the Song family.”

“Speak up!” Su Chengye yelled at the downcast Su Yingying. “What do you want?”

“I’m not reconciled,” Su Yingying said, raising her head and stubbornly looking away from Su Chengye.

“Not reconciled?” Su Chengye thought that was a funny thing to say. He wasn’t interested in these childish love affairs. “Your mother told me that Qingyun is doing better now, and you’re not reconciled? Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, you should try to win over Young Master Qin.”

When Su Chengye mentioned Qin Renfeng, Su Yingying’s eyebrows furrowed. She looked at Su Chengye without any emotion in her eyes. “Father, not to mention that I don’t like male Alphas, is the Qin family really a good choice?”

“What do you mean?” Su Chengye’s anger changed. “If the Qin family isn’t the best choice in Jing City, is there a better one?”

“The Fu family.” The two words silenced Su Chengye. The echo lingered in the underground parking garage. A moment later, Su Chengye sneered. “Impossible. Don’t even think about it.”

Su Chengye thought Su Yingying was losing her mind. She was the one who had rejected Fu Qingyun and sold Su Ziqin. To prevent them from changing their minds, Fu Chenlan had even made Su Chengye personally promise that Su Ziqin would have no ties to the Su family in the future. In return, Fu Chenlan would help the Su family with business.

In reality, Su Chengye knew that Fu Chenlan didn’t like Su Yingying, so she used this method to prevent Fu Qingyun from having any contact with Su Yingying again.

Su Yingying sneered. “Father, Qin Renfeng is not as good as Fu Qingyun.”

“What do you mean? A double-S-class Alpha, and the young master of the Panhai Group, is not as good as that little lunatic?”

Su Yingying let out a cold laugh. “What a joke. Father, you probably haven’t been watching the news. You must know Li Zhengyin from Hujing Capital, right? She has been poached by Fu Qingyun to go to Yunshan. Qin Renfeng has been marginalized by the head of the Qin family and is not allowed to get involved in Panhai’s business.”

Su Chengye felt his blood freeze. Cold sweat ran down his neck and into his shirt. “Are you telling the truth?” This would be difficult to handle.

Seeing that his attitude had softened, Su Yingying became bolder with her words. “Of course, it’s true. I have no reason to lie to you, do I?”

“It’s too late.” Su Chengye sighed heavily, thinking about the agreement with Fu Chenlan. “We can’t have any more ties to the Fu family.”

Su Yingying’s heart skipped a beat. “What do you mean?”

Su Chengye told Su Yingying about his agreement with Fu Chenlan. He continued with a helpless tone. “It would have been fine if Qingyun still liked you as before, but now she has gone out of her way to control the Su family’s stock price to get revenge for Su Ziqin. She has acquired 30% of Huaxing’s shares for Su Ziqin.”

“So that wild child, Su Ziqin, is the second largest shareholder of Huaxing?” Su Yingying said, unwilling to accept it. Her knuckles turned white as she clenched her fists.

Su Chengye nodded, relaxed his shoulders, and let out a breath. “That’s enough. Don’t go looking for trouble with Su Ziqin anymore. Have as little to do with her as possible. She’s protected by the Fu family now. You can’t touch her, and besides…” Su Chengye stopped himself and didn’t continue.

Su Yingying saw his hesitant expression and sneered. “You’re not going to say that her life was swapped with mine and it would be better to have as little to do with her as possible, are you?”

“You…” Su Chengye’s pupils constricted. He trembled, pointing at Su Yingying. He took two steps closer and whispered in her ear, “How do you know? Did your mother tell you?”

Su Yingying gave him a mysterious smile. “I also know that Su Ziqin wasn’t adopted. You… stole her.”

Su Chengye’s blood froze. It was as if someone had choked him, and he couldn’t make a sound. Back then, he believed what the mysterious person said and brought Su Ziqin back. Even his wife didn’t know about this. “You…”

“Shh,” Su Yingying said, putting a finger to her lips. She looked at Su Chengye with a smile. “Father, don’t ask so many questions. Her life is mine, so her wife should also be mine, right? I’m not asking you for help, but don’t interfere with what I want to do.”

“No!” Su Chengye quickly stopped her.

Su Yingying raised her eyebrows and ignored him. “Why not?” She paused for a moment, thinking of a crucial point. Her eyes were sharp. “What is Su Ziqin’s background? Was she just a baby from a hospital corner?”

Su Chengye’s throat moved. His eyes darted away, and he didn’t answer Su Yingying’s question. “Don’t ask so much.”

His eyes were evasive, and he anxiously patted his pants. “I’m leaving now. Don’t get involved with Su Ziqin anymore. Your life is good enough as it is.”

Looking at Su Chengye’s departing back, Su Yingying’s suspicion grew. It seemed Su Ziqin’s background was not simple. It was clear that Su Chengye was even a little afraid. How ridiculous! He dared to steal a person back then, but now he was scared?

She looked at the time. There was no point in going back to the set now. Su Yingying took a leave of absence from the director and called Charm Palace.

“Sister Mei, it’s that same female Alpha from last time. Yes, the one with the beauty mark at the corner of her eye.”

After hanging up, Su Yingying stretched. “When can I stop eating these substitutes?” Maybe it was time to change her approach. The current Fu Qingyun didn’t like her at all.

Ultimately, she didn’t like Fu Qingyun either. It was just her possessiveness acting up. Besides, how could Su Yingying be willing not to taste such a beautiful female Alpha? And a person like Su Ziqin didn’t deserve to have good things.

“Don’t you agree?” Su Yingying murmured.

A mechanical voice answered her. “The host is the protagonist of this world. The host should get everything she wants.”
