A OO Love After Officially Announcing with the Best Actress - Chapter 13
The Li family in town was hiring workers?
Chu Feng looked at Chu Qiu, not understanding what she meant.
The two sisters stood facing each other. Beside them, a tall, sturdy man leaned against the wall, smoking in a careless, swaggering manner.
Chu Feng withdrew her disgusted expression and said, “What do you want me to do?”
Chu Qiu carried a basket out from the main room and lifted the white cloth covering it. Inside were some duck eggs, tea leaves, and a cured duck that had already been prepared.
“Take this to the Li family and say a few nice words.”
Chu Feng carried the basket on her back. Before leaving, she glared fiercely at the man beside them.
Chu Feng said, “Labor reform criminal!”
The man’s gaze instantly sharpened. His bulging muscles looked as if he might beat Chu Feng at any moment.
Chu Qiu screamed and quickly pressed down on the man’s forearm. She urged Chu Feng to leave quickly, then went back into the house with the man in her arms.
Chu Feng carried the basket to the Li residence. The Li family’s front gate was open. She looked around outside the door and was spotted by the butler, who loudly asked what she was there for.
Chu Feng showed him the basket and said, “I came to bring some food for the master and the young miss.”
Hearing this, the butler could not help smiling. “The Li family has no young miss. Who are you looking for?”
Chu Feng froze. It had rained at dawn, and the blue stone tiles beneath her feet were damp. She stood uneasily outside the door, so anxious her face turned a little red.
The butler smiled and said, “Come in.”
Chu Feng went inside and gave the duck eggs and tea leaves to the butler. On the very top was a duck wrapped in oiled paper.
Chu Feng’s eyes showed reluctance.
“Can’t bear to part with it?”
“This is everything left at home.”
The butler asked, “What do you want?”
Chu Feng said respectfully, “I want to find a job.”
The butler nodded, asked her name, and told her to come work in two days.
When Chu Feng returned, she saw the man standing outside the wall.
Chu Qiu was washing clothes in the yard. Suddenly, she heard the muffled thud of a wall of flesh hitting the ground.
Chu Qiu quickly stood up and ran outside. Chu Feng had fallen to the ground.
The man strode away. Chu Qiu kept wiping away tears as she used her clothes to wipe Chu Feng’s nosebleed.
“Jie.” Chu Feng held Chu Qiu’s hand, the veins at her temple bulging. She held back her tears. “Don’t stay with him anymore.”
Chu Qiu’s tears immediately fell like rain.
Lin Bingran held an umbrella and took a walk near the set. Group B had not started filming yet. The coordinator was using software to check today’s cloud movements.
Group B needed to film a scene with sunlight, but that morning, Water Town had suddenly been hit by rain. Even now, the sky was still overcast.
Shen Feng returned from Group A, with Lin Ke following behind her. Lin Ke looked disheveled, her face covered in “wounds” and “blood.”
Lin Bingran curved her lips slightly. Her expression seemed to be smiling, but it was very faint.
Lin Ke wiped her mouth in confusion. “Director, what’s wrong with Teacher Lin?”
Shen Feng quietly watched Lin Bingran for a while. Lin Bingran’s steps as she wandered through the Li residence were sometimes light, sometimes hurried. She wore a qipao, and a few times, she even circled around the beams.
“She’s getting into character,” Shen Feng said. She lit a cigarette for herself and told Lin Ke to observe Lin Bingran’s state. “Xiao Lin, you still have a lot to learn. Show proper respect to Teacher Lin. If she’s willing to teach you, you’ll become very good.”
Lin Ke turned her head and let Lu Tu wipe the bloodstain at the corner of her mouth. Once Lu Tu was done, Lin Ke quickly turned her head back.
At noon, the sun came out. Shen Feng immediately had everyone start work, and Lin Ke gave up the makeup room for Lin Bingran.
After the floor dried in the sun, Group B officially started filming.
This was Lin Ke’s first time sitting behind the monitor and watching Lin Bingran act.
After Shen Feng called start, she saw a figure pass beneath the corridor.
A guest had come to the Li family, and Ji Fengling had been called to receive them. In the dining room, she knocked over the bowls and chopsticks, fell from the table, scraped her elbow and knee, and then used that as an excuse to leave the dining room.
Everyone was in the dining room attending to the guest. Even Granny Zhou was not there. Ji Fengling returned to her room alone. When she reached the corridor, she suddenly looked back at the square courtyard roof.
Sunlight shone down from above. She covered her wound, as if she did not know pain. Her skin was snow-white, and she looked so thin and fragile she seemed as though she might melt beneath the sunlight.
Chu Feng pushed open the courtyard gate. She came in carrying a slop bucket and was about to go to the kitchen when she saw Ji Fengling behind the pillar.
She froze, then quickly put the slop bucket in the kitchen, took off her apron, washed her hands, and hurried toward Ji Fengling.
Ji Fengling looked at her somewhat blankly. Only when Chu Feng ran over did she react and try to return to her room as quickly as possible.
It was not easy to run in a qipao, and besides, Ji Fengling’s leg was injured. Chu Feng caught her by the hand and dragged her upstairs as she limped along.
Chu Feng opened the door she had secretly watched for so long and pushed it open. For the first time, she stepped into Ji Fengling’s territory.
But very quickly, she dragged Ji Fengling to the side of the bed and asked where the medicine was.
Ji Fengling lowered her head. Her hand gripped one side of her qipao, wrinkling the fabric.
So Chu Feng searched by herself. She found a medicine kit, knelt on one knee on the ground, and applied medicine for Ji Fengling.
“Does it hurt?”
Ji Fengling shook her head.
Chu Feng applied the medicine seriously. A ray of sunlight came through the window and fell on Chu Feng’s face. Her skin was a healthy wheat color, very smooth, and one could see the fine fuzz on her face, as well as her black-grape-like eyes.
Ji Fengling suddenly reached out and touched the corner of Chu Feng’s mouth, where dried blood had formed a scab.
Chu Feng paused. When she raised her head, Ji Fengling was clearly avoiding her gaze.
So Chu Feng rubbed the corner of her mouth hard, reopening the wound, and blood flowed out again.
Clumsily, Ji Fengling copied Chu Feng’s movements and applied medicine to her. Every time, she hurt Chu Feng, making Chu Feng grimace in pain and making Ji Fengling laugh several times.
Ji Fengling pressed her lips together, withdrew the cotton swab, and carefully looked at the corner of Chu Feng’s mouth. Then she touched it with her hand. When she wiped off the medicine, she reapplied it.
For an instant, Lin Ke felt a little dazed. Once again, she confused Lin Bingran with Ji Fengling. Lin Bingran was completely immersed in the scene. When Lin Bingran repeated the action of touching her lips again, Lin Ke’s lips parted slightly without meaning to. Lin Bingran’s finger slipped inside and touched the moist inside of her mouth.
Shen Feng did not call cut, so Lin Bingran continued acting.
Chu Feng raised her head and looked at Ji Fengling. She saw the folded collar formed by Ji Fengling slightly bending over, revealing a tiny gap connected to her snow-white neck.
Her gaze moved upward. Ji Fengling looked earnestly adorable. She repeatedly applied medicine to one small wound at the corner of Chu Feng’s mouth for several minutes.
Chu Feng uncontrollably looked into Ji Fengling’s eyes. When their gazes met, both of them smiled.
By reflex, Ji Fengling touched the corner of her own mouth with the same hand that had touched Chu Feng, as if curious about the taste of the ointment.
Chu Feng’s gaze followed her movement. The two of them looked away, then coincidentally looked at each other’s wounds again. The next moment, their evasive gazes met and tangled once more.
“Cut.”
Shen Feng called stop and raised both thumbs behind the monitor at Lin Bingran and Lin Ke.
Lin Bingran instantly came out of character. She sat up from the bed and took the tissue prepared by her assistant, repeatedly wiping her finger.
Lin Ke, on the other hand, was dazed for several seconds before slowly coming back to herself. Distractedly, she thought that Lin Bingran’s finger must have the scent of her pheromones.
Shen Feng was very satisfied with this scene. The shy, inward feeling between the two young girls had been captured perfectly.
“Very good. Xiao Lin got into character,” Shen Feng said. Then she turned to Lin Bingran and raised her thumb again. “As expected of Lin One-Take.”
Lin Bingran smiled leisurely, the pear dimple by her lips appearing faintly. “It’s Director Shen’s credit.”
Shen Feng laughed loudly. “We’re wrapping early today. Want to go eat?”
Lin Bingran thought for a moment and asked, “Eat what?”
“Your manager left,” Shen Feng said. “Hotpot? Producer Liu is here too.”
Lin Bingran casually said, “Bring Xiao Lin.”
Shen Feng turned to look over, somewhat surprised.
Lin Ke sensibly declined. “No, no. I still have a scene I want to go back and read over.”
Shen Feng patted her shoulder and smiled. “You can’t go anyway. You secretly went out for late-night snacks a few days ago. Don’t go eating yourself fat.”
Lin Ke immediately smiled. That Moments post had already been several days ago. Shen Feng definitely did not know that Lin Bingran had secretly run out that same night and eaten several jin of crawfish with her at a roadside barbecue stall.
That girl, who looked like she did not eat much, was terrifyingly skilled at eating crawfish. Perhaps because she had too much experience secretly eating, Lin Bingran did not get her mouth dirty at all.
Lin Ke lay on the bed, the script placed to one side. She held her phone and only realized after a moment that she had clicked into an interview video related to Lin Bingran.
Her phone dinged, and a message popped up.
Zhu Mo: “After filming so many days of high-intensity scenes, how are you?”
Lin Ke: “I’m doing pretty well.”
Zhu Mo asked, “Did something happen with Lin Bingran?”
Lin Ke scrolled through the screen and found the message where she had said she would become more popular than Lin Bingran and make the film queen buy her breakfast.
Lin Ke long-pressed the message and replied by quoting it:
“This message has been withdrawn.”
