After I Became A Scumbag Alpha, the Female Lead Omega and I Both Fell Hard (Transmigration Into A Novel) - Chapter 12
“Hiss… my mouth…”
Ruan Tang regretted speaking the moment the words left her lips.
After hearing her voice, Song Chenxi immediately stopped drinking and looked at her in confusion.
Her master never spoke to her while eating because she disliked doing so.
Moreover, her master did not want to hear Ruan Tang speak.
“You bitch, you’re so damn noisy. Can’t you show some manners? No talking while eating or sleeping, understand?”
At the time, Ruan Tang had merely called her “Master,” yet she had been subjected to endless abuse. In a fit of rage, her master had even smashed a bowl. She then crossed her arms and legs and watched with pleasure as Ruan Tang knelt on the floor, miserably gathering the broken pieces.
“I-I’m sorry.”
After apologizing, Ruan Tang lowered her head and looked at her tiny reflection in the tea.
She could feel the Alpha’s gaze prickling against her back.
She did not know how her master would punish her this time.
Would she throw the tea in her face? Or would she smash several more bowls and force Ruan Tang to crawl across the floor collecting the pieces?
“What’s wrong, Ruan Tang?”
Song Chenxi had already noticed that something sounded wrong when Ruan Tang spoke. Her speech seemed slightly slurred.
Ruan Tang shook her head vigorously, making her straight bangs sway.
The little Omega was the most stubborn person Song Chenxi had ever met.
The more she insisted she was fine, the more certain it was that something was wrong.
She always acted as though she did not want to trouble anyone and would rather endure everything silently.
Such excessive obedience was heartbreaking.
Song Chenxi put down her bowl and spoon, then asked anxiously, “Ruan Tang, are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”
Ruan Tang raised her eyes. Her black irises were surrounded by bloodshot whites, making her look as though she had been suffering—or had not slept properly for several days.
The longer Ruan Tang remained silent, the more worried Song Chenxi became.
She moved closer.
“Don’t be afraid…”
Before she could finish, Ruan Tang immediately shook her head.
“I-I’m not… uncomfortable.”
She spoke very slowly, like a child who had only recently learned how to talk.
After answering, Ruan Tang fearfully lowered her head, her entire body remaining on guard.
She pronounced the word “comfortable” strangely, making it sound slightly different.
Song Chenxi frowned. Her beautiful phoenix-shaped eyes were filled with concern.
She gently grasped Ruan Tang’s arms with both hands and leaned closer.
“Ruan Tang, look at me.”
Ruan Tang blinked rapidly in nervousness. Not daring to defy the command, she shakily straightened her neck and looked at Song Chenxi.
“Don’t be afraid. I won’t blame you. Tell me where you’re uncomfortable.”
Song Chenxi’s expression was peaceful, and her voice was gentle.
“I-I’m sorry, Master. I didn’t mean to. I-I was wrong…”
Yet when Ruan Tang finally opened her mouth, her words once again became an apology.
She did not dare say anything else. She stared at the pale tea inside her bowl and quietly awaited the storm of her master’s anger.
One second passed.
Then two…
“Ruan Tang, you haven’t done anything wrong. Truly.”
Song Chenxi lowered her voice as much as possible to avoid frightening her.
She quietly watched Ruan Tang without urging her.
Looking into the Alpha’s sincere eyes, Ruan Tang parted her lips slightly and mumbled, “There… seems to be something… inside my mouth…”
Song Chenxi immediately tensed, and the crease between her brows deepened.
“Something grew there?”
Ruan Tang hesitantly murmured, “Mm,” then hurriedly shook her head.
“It-It doesn’t matter. I-I’m fine.”
“Open your mouth and let me look.”
Song Chenxi released Ruan Tang’s arms and cupped her face instead.
“Ah…”
“Ah…”
Ruan Tang obediently copied her.
Using the light, Song Chenxi saw a small blister on Ruan Tang’s tongue, caused by the hot tea she had just drunk.
A blister on the tip of her tongue meant that the surface tissue had already been damaged, which would cause intense pain.
Ice could relieve the pain and reduce the severity of the burn.
Song Chenxi immediately crossed the kitchen in several strides, retrieved an ice cube from the refrigerator, and held it out.
“Here. Lick this.”
Her master had ordered her to lick many things before, but this was the first time one of them had been an ice cube.
In the past, ice cubes had not been used like this either.
Ruan Tang did not know what to do. Still, afraid of upsetting her master, she obediently extended the tip of her tongue.
When her pink tongue touched the ice, Ruan Tang instinctively recoiled. Then she cautiously licked it again.
It truly felt much better.
The ice cube rapidly melted, and transparent liquid slowly ran down Song Chenxi’s fingers.
Song Chenxi suddenly met Ruan Tang’s gaze.
Her enormous, watery eyes looked exceedingly obedient.
This scene felt extremely… strange.
Song Chenxi immediately looked away, the tips of her ears turning faintly red.
After a while, Ruan Tang drank the rest of her tea in one gulp.
Gulp.
“How was it?” Song Chenxi asked expectantly. “Was it all right?”
Whenever Song Chenxi had gotten her period in the past, she would buy packets of instant ginger and brown-sugar tea. If the pain became particularly severe, she would drink two packets at once.
Now that she had tasted a batch made with her own hands, she found that it was not bad either.
After finishing, Ruan Tang licked her lips and blinked shyly.
“It’s very sweet. It tastes good,” she said in a soft, milky voice.
“Right? Thank you for the compliment. I’ll keep working hard.” Song Chenxi laughed brightly. “When you do things yourself, you’ll always have everything you need.”
Ruan Tang unconsciously tightened her fingers around the bowl until her fingertips turned white.
Did that Alpha truly think this way?
After drinking, Song Chenxi did not leave the kitchen. She braced both hands against the marble island, rested her chin between them, and watched Ruan Tang wash the dishes.
Suddenly, Ruan Tang gave a tiny sneeze.
Concern immediately returned to Song Chenxi’s previously relaxed face.
“Ruan Tang, did you actually catch a chill?”
After saying this, she quietly spat to the side and cursed herself inwardly for jinxing it.
Ruan Tang sniffled.
“No. I-I don’t… have a cold.”
Her voice quickly grew slightly hoarse.
“I’m… not sick.”
Omegas already had weak constitutions, and an S-class Omega’s physical condition was even worse. Combined with her pheromone disorder, malnutrition, and prolonged inhumane abuse, Ruan Tang’s body could not withstand the slightest strain.
A little wind and rain could easily overwhelm her.
Song Chenxi approached Ruan Tang and placed a hand against her forehead.
It felt slightly cool.
Fortunately, she did not have a fever.
“All right. Our Ruan Tang isn’t sick. She’s perfectly healthy!”
After speaking, Song Chenxi took the bowl and spoon from her hands, bent down, and arranged them neatly in the dish rack.
When she saw Song Chenxi’s brows furrow slightly again, Ruan Tang visibly panicked.
“I really… don’t have a cold.”
Seeing how desperately Ruan Tang denied it, Song Chenxi had no other choice. She gently stroked the top of her head and nodded.
“Mm. All right.”
Ruan Tang’s hair was still wet, carrying the lingering dampness of her recent bath.
Song Chenxi gently pinched her cheek.
“Come here. I’ll dry your hair.”
“Huh?”
Ruan Tang’s eyes widened slightly, and she hurriedly shook her head.
“There’s no need… to trouble yourself with something like that…”
“Ruan Tang, be good. It isn’t any trouble at all.”
Warm yellow light fell over Song Chenxi, making her thick, long eyelashes cast faint shadows across her face.
Ruan Tang obediently sat on the sofa as the sound of the hair dryer came from above her head.
She kept her back as straight as possible, placing both hands flat upon her closed legs.
She did not dare move at all.
