After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 43
The next morning, Cen Luo woke up early for a change.
After several days of consecutive takeout breakfasts, Cen Luo decided to make this early rise more meaningful.
So, Cen Luo wrapped herself in a big white cotton jacket, wore a red knit hat, and a long red scarf, planning to go to the breakfast shop downstairs for breakfast.
Cen Luo left the house and walked towards the elevator.
She checked the time; it was only eight in the morning. She could eat breakfast, take a walk, and still come back for a second nap.
The time agreed upon with Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan was 2 PM. After getting her hair done, she could go straight to the bar.
Cen Luo couldn’t help but compliment herself on how well she managed her time.
After waiting for a while, Cen Luo noticed the elevator hadn’t come up yet. It was still stuck on the first floor.
Logically, given how early it was and that it was a public holiday when most people were still sleeping in, the elevator should be running quickly.
Just then, Cen Luo heard a door close behind her.
Usually, at this time, Auntie Zhang and Auntie Wang were already up and going downstairs for a walk, so Cen Luo’s first reaction was to turn around and greet them.
A few days ago, Cen Luo encountered the two aunties coming up from their walk. She wanted to hide before they noticed her while they were chatting, but she was spotted as soon as she turned around.
In the end, they complained that since they were neighbors, she should at least greet them before leaving.
Cen Luo knew the two aunties meant no harm. They would occasionally look after her and bring her things.
However, every time she met Zhang Ming, Cen Luo would be questioned about her thoughts on the Nanyang Yulou apartment matter.
That’s why Cen Luo occasionally felt the urge to hide.
She didn’t expect that just as Cen Luo fixed her expression and turned around to greet them, she found that the person wasn’t Zhang Ming and Wang Zhen.
It was Jian Mu.
The words Cen Luo wanted to say caught in her throat, and she silently swallowed them.
The words “Why is it you” were practically written all over Cen Luo’s face.
Jian Mu also saw through Cen Luo’s thoughts, feeling a little bitter inside.
The opportunities to run into her these past few days had been scarce. When she heard the faint sound of a door closing just now, Jian Mu decided to try her luck.
Even just a glance would be good.
“Good morning.”
Jian Mu was the first to speak and greet her.
She even slightly curved her lips when she spoke. The arc wasn’t obvious, but compared to her cold face, Jian Mu appeared much friendlier now.
Cen Luo hummed in response. Just then, the elevator arrived at their floor.
The elevator was empty. Cen Luo went in and pressed the first-floor button. She stood in front of the buttons and looked up at the display screen. The elevator was slowly descending.
Jian Mu stood to Cen Luo’s left and slightly behind her. She turned her head slightly and saw Cen Luo burying her chin in her scarf.
Her large, grape-like eyes darted around quickly, sometimes looking at the display screen, sometimes looking down and moving her chin around in the scarf, searching for a warm and comfortable angle.
Against the red scarf, Cen Luo’s face looked even fairer.
In a moment, the elevator reached the first floor.
Cen Luo left the elevator and went straight to the breakfast shop not far away.
Jian Mu, on the other hand, walked straight ahead and didn’t follow her.
Cen Luo entered the shop and looked at the menu hanging on the wall. She went down the list and ordered one of everything she liked.
After she placed her order, the boss couldn’t help but remind her: “Little sister, are you expecting other friends?”
The boss looked behind Cen Luo and didn’t see anyone else, so he spoke up to remind her that she might have ordered too much.
Cen Luo thought about it. She really did seem to have ordered too much.
She had ordered one of every item on the menu that had the two small characters “Recommended” next to the name.
“Then I’ll take one less basket of buns. Which of the other things I ordered isn’t tasty?”
Cen Luo asked the boss directly.
The boss was silent for a moment, then smiled: “All the breakfasts in our shop are delicious, and the noodles are very good too.”
Right, which shop owner would say their own food is bad?
Cen Luo realized her question was indeed putting the boss in a difficult position.
But she had a slight fear of making choices. Everything she chose was something she wanted to eat. How was she supposed to decide?
Difficult.
So, Cen Luo placed the order according to her original plan.
In a short while, all the items Cen Luo ordered were brought to her.
They were all common breakfast items, but because the names were creative, they sounded much fancier.
Cen Luo used disposable chopsticks to pick up a small bun from the plate.
She turned it around 360 degrees and finally murmured, “Tian Hua Luan Xiu Bao (Heavenly Flower Splendor Bun) doesn’t seem any different from a regular small steamed bun.”
Then she ate it in one bite.
Fortunately, the taste wasn’t bad.
Other customers who came into the shop all glanced at Cen Luo’s table.
But no one sat around her.
Because Cen Luo’s breakfast alone occupied half the table.
Cen Luo didn’t notice this and just focused on eating her breakfast.
Eating too fast can lead to indigestion, so Cen Luo tried to slow down.
She tasted a bite of every type of food first. The best-tasting ones were eaten first.
What was supposed to be a simple breakfast was turned into a game by Cen Luo.
Cen Luo was halfway through tasting when someone came to the seat opposite her.
The person stood in front of her, blocking a lot of light.
Cen Luo was taking a bite of a baked flatbread. She looked up and froze.
“What do you want to eat?” The boss saw Jian Mu enter and asked from the kitchen window.
Since most of the customers were residents from the neighborhood, there were no other staff in the shop.
Jian Mu looked around, staring at the menu and the walls, which were stained black from the cooking fumes.
The disposable chopsticks on the table were slightly damaged, and there were noticeable grease stains on the tabletop.
Jian Mu was silent for a moment, then ordered a portion of noodles.
The boss: “Do you want chili?”
Jian Mu: “Mhm.”
Cen Luo thought Jian Mu was someone who didn’t eat chili at all. Wasn’t she like that before?
But this was something Cen Luo only heard from Qin Ran.
Also, were there no other seats around? Why did she have to sit next to her? Wouldn’t that ruin her appetite?
Cen Luo thought while looking around and realized there really were no other seats in the shop.
“…”
The situation she thought would ruin her appetite didn’t happen. Cen Luo was eating happily and even burped halfway through.
Jian Mu’s noodles were served by the boss now.
However, Jian Mu didn’t immediately pick up her chopsticks to eat the noodles. Instead, she stared at Cen Luo and asked her:
“Can I try one of your buns?”
There were nine buns in one basket. Cen Luo had only eaten five.
There were still four left on the plate.
Cen Luo was full and couldn’t eat anymore. If it were anyone else asking, she might have agreed, but Jian Mu? Forget it.
Not only did she refuse, but she also mocked her:
“Can’t you even afford twenty dollars?”
A basket of buns was only twenty dollars. For a prominent CEO to ask for someone else’s bun, wouldn’t that be a joke?
Jian Mu lowered her eyes: “I don’t want to waste it.”
Cen Luo, who was full and couldn’t eat the remaining food: “…”
Was she implying that Cen Luo was wasteful?
Cen Luo was speechless and decided not to talk to Jian Mu anymore.
Cen Luo bought two takeout containers, preparing to pack the remaining breakfast to eat later.
Just then, she heard Jian Mu’s voice: “Boss, which one is the vinegar?”
“The bottle on the far right.”
While Cen Luo was packing, she inadvertently glanced at the two similar bottles placed in the corner of the table.
One bottle was soy sauce, and the other was vinegar.
However, the labels on the bottles were all torn off, and the two bottles looked almost identical.
It was hard to distinguish them.
“Right side?”
Cen Luo heard Jian Mu muttering.
But she saw her pick up the bottle on the left.
Cen Luo, who witnessed all this unintentionally: “?”
Does she not know left from right?
“The one on the right, okay? Don’t grab the wrong one,” the boss repeated.
Jian Mu’s hand paused, then she put the bottle she was holding back in its place.
“Boss, are there no other vinegars?”
The boss was the only one in the shop. He was in the kitchen cooking noodles for customers, so busy that he let customers prepare their own breakfast condiments outside.
“It’s over there. All the vinegars in the shop are the same taste. They’re all aged vinegar.”
Jian Mu mumbled “oh” and then picked up the same bottle she had picked up earlier.
“The one with the red cap.”
Cen Luo heard the boss’s voice again.
Cen Luo frowned. Was Jian Mu not only unable to tell left from right but also colorblind?
Qin Ran didn’t tell her about this.
She tied a knot in the takeout bag she placed in her pocket. Cen Luo hesitated for a second, then chose to say nothing and left the breakfast shop with the takeout bag.
The moment Cen Luo left, Jian Mu put down the bottle of soy sauce she was holding. She was silent for a few seconds, then picked up the other bottle.
She poured a lot of vinegar into her bowl.
She lowered her head and began to eat the noodles in silence.
She shouldn’t have been unable to resist going to the restaurant where Cen Luo and Xu Yanyan were.
She shouldn’t have pretended to pass by and saw the scene that made her so uncomfortable.
Xu Yanyan’s hand touched Cen Luo’s mouth, and Cen Luo didn’t flinch.
Cen Luo even blushed under Xu Yanyan’s gaze.
Does she like Xu Yanyan now? Are they together?
Will she treat Xu Yanyan the way she treated her in the future?
Maybe even better.
She had seen Cen Luo follow Xu Yanyan in high school and heard about what happened between them.
She had never imagined that one day she would once again be an outsider, watching Cen Luo and Xu Yanyan’s relationship.
Jian Mu belatedly understood that she was jealous.
She was actually jealous.
The thought made Jian Mu feel very suffocated.
The noodles she had just started eating had already become tasteless in Jian Mu’s eyes.
She remembered the breakfast items Cen Luo ordered just now.
They must have been delicious.
Delicious enough to make her eat so happily, and even make her forget the person she hated sitting right in front of her.
So, Jian Mu also ordered the same breakfast Cen Luo ordered.
After Jian Mu left, the boss was confused and wondered: These two ate enough for two people’s breakfast. Are girls now eating this much?
The time Cen Luo agreed to meet Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan was 2 PM, which was still a while away.
So, after breakfast, Cen Luo took the takeout bag and walked around downstairs for a bit. It was a rare time she felt like exercising, but she didn’t expect to run into Zhang Ming and Wang Zhen in the park.
As expected, as soon as Zhang Ming saw her, she started asking about the progress of the apartment matter.
Cen Luo: “…”
Suddenly, an idea flashed through Cen Luo’s mind.
