After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 45
The three of them had just entered the bar when a stumbling woman, who looked quite drunk, walked towards them.
It looked like the woman was about to collide with Xu Fengwan, who was standing on the far side. From this angle, it was very likely she would land squarely in Xu Fengwan’s arms.
A stroke of luck, it should be a pleasant surprise.
But, now was not the time.
Cen Luo had originally wanted to reach out and steady the woman so she wouldn’t fall into Xu Fengwan’s arms, but Qin Ran had the same idea.
However, Qin Ran’s approach was much more aggressive. She suddenly pushed Cen Luo and Xu Fengwan apart. She even used too much force, causing Xu Fengwan to stumble.
Cen Luo was stunned and didn’t react, while Xu Fengwan stumbled a few steps, then glared fiercely at Qin Ran: “You!”
But before she could finish her sentence, she saw Qin Ran supporting the woman, gently asking her if she was okay.
Xu Fengwan: “?”
She pushed her away, only to rush to help the other woman?
Xu Fengwan felt a lump stuck in her chest.
The woman looked up at Qin Ran, then shook her head, pushed Qin Ran’s hand away, and stumbled toward the exit.
“Will she be okay like that?” Qin Ran was worried.
“Can’t you see she’s not that drunk?” Xu Fengwan was still angry about Qin Ran pushing her just now, and her tone was sharp.
Qin Ran acted as if she didn’t hear Xu Fengwan. She thought for a moment, then muttered to herself, “Her eyes are so beautiful.”
Cen Luo also saw them just now and nodded in agreement.
Xu Fengwan finally understood. Qin Ran pushed her best friend away just for those beautiful eyes.
Utterly insane.
“Are you an idiot?” Xu Fengwan rolled her eyes and walked into the bar by herself.
Qin Ran grumbled, then pulled Cen Luo and followed her inside.
As they walked closer, the loud, piercing rock music of the bar began to buzz in their ears.
The sudden increase in volume made Cen Luo instinctively cover her ears. She slowly let go after getting used to it for a while.
ST was rumored to be a bar built by the owner to commemorate her girlfriend, and the bar was only open to adult women.
Dazzling lights shone on the center of the dance floor, where women were dancing freely.
“The movements, the expression, it’s exactly the same as the first time we came to ST.” Qin Ran observed Cen Luo’s expression for a while, then clicked her tongue twice.
Only then did Cen Luo look away, a little excited: “Shall we go dance there later?”
Qin Ran looked at the center of the dance floor. It looked very stress-relieving, so she nodded.
“But you have to protect yourself. Be careful not to be hit on, and don’t drink alcohol offered by strangers.”
Finally, Qin Ran added specifically: “Even if the person is very beautiful.”
Cen Luo: “…”
“I know, I know.” She wasn’t a child. She understood that much.
The places they had been to before were relatively orderly, such as the Yunxiang Club and Yuncheng Western Restaurant.
The bar was filled with flashing lights and loud music. For a moment, Qin Ran didn’t know if bringing Cen Luo here was the right decision.
Be careful not to be hit on?
Then she would go hit on someone else.
Cen Luo thought.
The three of them found a table and ordered three cups of ST’s signature cocktails.
After chatting for a while, the drinks were served.
Cen Luo took a sip of her drink, then pulled Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan toward the center of the dance floor.
The three of them were dressed casually today. After taking off their warm coats, their attire was no different from their usual summer clothes.
From the initial discomfort to gradually getting used to it, the deafening music gave Cen Luo a sense of security.
Most of the people around were strangers. Here, it seemed they could forget all their worries.
Here, all unhappiness could be temporarily forgotten.
Cen Luo was happily swaying in the center of the dance floor, while on the other side, Jian Mu rushed into the bar, looking around, trying to find Cen Luo.
The bartender and servers all looked at them because of their sudden intrusion.
Occasionally, people who came to the bar to find someone to cause trouble at home would show up. Seeing Jian Mu constantly looking around the bar, the people around clearly mistook Jian Mu for one of those people.
Su Nian, following behind Jian Mu, noticed the stares and reminded her: “Let’s find a seat.”
Jian Mu hummed, understanding that she had been a little too impulsive just now.
Leaving aside that an adult coming to a bar was fine, even if it wasn’t, it had nothing to do with her anymore.
The thought made Jian Mu feel a pang of disappointment.
Seeing Jian Mu like this, Su Nian somewhat regretted sending her that message earlier.
[I heard Cen Luo really likes pretty older sisters. There are as many beauties in this bar as there is alcohol.]
Su Nian didn’t receive a reply at the time and thought Jian Mu hadn’t seen her message, so she sent that sentence. Later, she found out Jian Mu had been driving the entire time.
Jian Mu received the message just as she arrived at the bar entrance.
This led to the scene of Jian Mu rushing into the bar.
Su Nian ordered a drink for Jian Mu, then started looking around for Cen Luo.
In a moment, Su Nian vaguely saw Cen Luo’s figure in the center of the dance floor.
Just as she was about to tell Jian Mu, she saw that Jian Mu was also looking at the center of the dance floor.
It seemed she didn’t need to remind her.
Cen Luo was dancing to the music with her friends.
Looking closely, Su Nian saw Cen Luo’s face was full of smiles. Her smile toward a stranger nearby was better than her smile toward Jian Mu.
Cen Luo was very happy.
Happier than ever.
Jian Mu naturally understood what Su Nian could comprehend.
The current Cen Luo was like a kite with a broken string—relaxed and free.
Jian Mu realized once again that she had always been the string that bound her.
Su Nian tried to change the subject to divert Jian Mu’s attention, but Jian Mu’s gaze remained fixed on Cen Luo, as if she was lost in thought or contemplating something.
But Su Nian also thought, She’s just dancing and drinking at a bar. It’s nothing to fuss about.
So Su Nian decided to let it go.
She had to face what needed to be faced. She couldn’t shield Jian Mu from everything. Jian Mu had to rely on herself.
In a little while, the drinks were served.
Jian Mu started drinking, holding the glass to her face.
A few people came over to hit on her, but Su Nian rejected them all.
Jian Mu needed to pursue Cen Luo. She couldn’t be seduced by others halfway.
Su Nian, who was relieved that Cen Luo was only dancing and drinking, suddenly froze her hand holding the wine glass.
She saw Cen Luo and a tall woman with thick eyebrows and large eyes walk off the dance floor, one in front of the other.
The scene Su Nian saw was also the one Jian Mu saw.
No big deal. They didn’t walk off the dance floor holding hands.
The next moment, however, she saw the woman sit down next to Cen Luo’s seat.
And the two of them were sitting very close.
Su Nian glanced at Jian Mu next to her. She saw Jian Mu pursing her lips tightly, her hand gripping the glass so tightly that her fingers were slightly white.
Su Nian felt an ominous premonition for no reason.
She whispered to Jian Mu: “CEO Jian, why don’t we go back?”
When the two of them got even closer, Jian Mu’s eyelashes fluttered, and her lips became a straight line.
Making friends at a bar. Sitting close is very normal.
Not only did Su Nian try to comfort Jian Mu like this, but Jian Mu was also trying to explain it away to herself.
However, the next moment, she saw the woman lean forward, and Cen Luo didn’t flinch.
“What are they… doing?”
Incredulity flashed in Jian Mu’s eyes. She looked at Su Nian next to her, hoping Su Nian would tell her a different answer.
In this scenario, even the usually eloquent Su Nian was stunned.
“CEO Jian, let’s go back. There’s no rush,” Su Nian finally managed to say, trying to stop Jian Mu from going back.
“What are they… doing?”
Jian Mu acted as if she hadn’t heard Su Nian’s words, just repeating the same sentence.
Su Nian had no choice but to stutter her reply: “Maybe… maybe they’re kissing.”
From their angle, the woman leaned down and kissed Cen Luo, and Cen Luo didn’t avoid it.
Su Nian heard a clang as the glass on the table clattered because Jian Mu suddenly stood up.
Guessing what Jian Mu was about to do, Su Nian immediately grabbed Jian Mu’s arm: “You can’t go. CEO Jian, you can’t go.”
Jian Mu ignored her and shook off her hand.
“CEO Jian, your relationship is just starting to get better. If you go over there now and ruin her fun, wouldn’t everything you did before be in vain?”
Jian Mu stopped in her tracks. Hearing Su Nian’s words, she murmured, repeating: “Ruin her fun.”
Su Nian realized she had chosen the wrong words and quickly said: “That’s not the point. The point is, you have no right to go over there now. It will only make her dislike you.”
Suddenly, all her strength vanished.
That’s right. She had no right.
So, who Cen Luo was with and who she kissed had nothing to do with her anymore.
That was Cen Luo’s freedom.
Who was she to be jealous? What right did she have to be angry?
Su Nian watched Jian Mu slowly squat down. In the noisy bar, the dazzling lights didn’t reach her.
It made Su Nian feel a sense of sadness and brokenness that belonged to her.
Perhaps what was broken was her heart, or perhaps it was the dream that the two of them could reconcile.
Su Nian glanced at Cen Luo, who was sitting at the bar, chatting happily with the woman again, raising their glasses to toast each other.
The scene was harmonious and beautiful.
In the same bar, Jian Mu and Cen Luo were two extremes.
For a moment, Su Nian didn’t know if the message she sent was right or wrong.
Cen Luo watched An Qi finish her drink and said, “I told you, you wouldn’t be able to charm me.”
An Qi chuckled softly, took another sip of her drink, and said, “Sitting that close, few people don’t fall for me.”
Cen Luo raised her eyebrows. An Qi suddenly leaned in just now. She almost slapped her face.
Remembering their bet and seeing that An Qi didn’t move again, Cen Luo held back.
An Qi said she would make her fall in love with her in one minute.
How was that possible? How could Cen Luo believe that?
Although she was in a bar now, she still had Sister Xu in her heart.
“But, what you said just now was very hurtful,” An Qi muttered.
“Huh? Which part?”
“You said my contact lens was sliding.” It was because of this sentence that An Qi’s efforts failed. She looked away in less than a minute.
In the end, she lost.
She lost because she chose the wrong contact lens.
This person is quite interesting, Cen Luo thought.
In the noisy bar, she couldn’t even focus on looking at her, let alone falling in love in one minute.
At one o’clock in the morning, Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan dropped Cen Luo off downstairs at her apartment building.
Cen Luo swiped her access card, entered the apartment, and took the elevator up.
She just arrived at the thirteenth floor and exited the elevator. The light was dim. From a distance, Cen Luo saw a dark shadow next to her door.
It looked like a person, or maybe a pile of black trash.
Trash?
No one would be that unethical, would they?
Cen Luo fumbled in her bag and finally found the pepper spray Qin Ran gave her before. Then she walked toward her door.
When she got closer, Cen Luo realized it was a person.
When she was less than a meter away, the person moved.
She saw the person look up at Cen Luo: “You’re back.”
Her voice was slightly hoarse. It seemed she had been waiting here for a long time.
Cen Luo took two steps back and frowned: “Why are you squatting here?”
She was wearing all black, hugging her knees, curled up here. Was it warm leaning against the wall?
Cen Luo didn’t understand what Jian Mu was thinking.
Jian Mu didn’t stand up, but looked up and said: “Today is the first day of 2024.”
Cen Luo knew what day it was since she had just returned from New Year’s Eve celebrations. She just didn’t understand why Jian Mu was squatting here in the middle of the night.
Jian Mu was still looking up, pulling at the corner of her mouth to reveal a smile: “Happy New Year.”
She was looking up, smiling, and saying “Happy New Year.”
Cen Luo stared at her for a long time, then replied: “Thank you.”
“Can you say ‘Happy New Year’ to me?”
Jian Mu hadn’t expected a simple greeting, which used to be so common, to be something she craved so much now.
Jian Mu’s eyes were cautious, as if she knew she would be rejected.
It was then that Cen Luo noticed Jian Mu’s abnormality.
She could smell a faint scent of alcohol.
At first, Cen Luo thought it was the smell coming from herself. Only now did she realize that Jian Mu had been drinking.
After a long time, Cen Luo didn’t reply.
It seemed she didn’t even deserve a “Happy New Year” now.
Jian Mu slightly lowered her head. After a few seconds, she stood up, took a jewelry box from her coat pocket, and held it out in her palm for Cen Luo to see.
She smiled faintly: “Can you accept this New Year’s gift?”
Cen Luo shook her head without any hesitation: “No.”
Any exchange was unnecessary.
Including the conversation they were having now.
Cen Luo ignored Jian Mu, took out her key, and prepared to open the door.
However, Jian Mu put the jewelry box into Cen Luo’s coat pocket. Cen Luo heard her say:
“Just throw it somewhere I can’t see it.”
Cen Luo paused. She wanted to say, Why bother? But she saw Jian Mu had already turned around.
Perhaps she was drunk. Jian Mu’s steps were a little unsteady.
Cen Luo looked down at the jewelry box. She didn’t understand what Jian Mu was doing.
