After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 51
When Zhao Zhao replied to the comment, Cen Luo happened to be browsing her Weibo. Seeing the reply, Cen Luo read it to herself and couldn’t help but sigh that she hadn’t guessed wrong—Zhao Zhao truly did treat her like a real sister.
By then, it was already late, and Cen Luo was feeling sleepy. She asked Zhao Zhao for the specific time she would be coming over tomorrow, only to realize that the previous message she had sent to Zhao Zhao still hadn’t received a reply.
She put down her phone and waited and waited, eventually falling asleep by accident.
The next morning, Cen Luo was woken up by her phone ringing.
She let out a weak “hello” and heard a cheerful voice on the other end: “Sister, get up quickly! I’m downstairs at your apartment.”
Cen Luo’s eyes snapped open at those words, and she sat up in bed.
“Where are you?”
Cen Luo checked the time display at the top of her phone; it was only seven in the morning. Zhao Zhao was already downstairs?
Is she joking with me?
“Don’t joke around,” Cen Luo lay back down and let out a yawn. “If you really came this early, I definitely wouldn’t open the door for you. Go find a breakfast shop and eat something first.”
Zhao Zhao seemed to have anticipated this and let out a light chuckle. Through the receiver, Cen Luo heard the noisy sound of car horns.
There were usually no traffic jams near her place, so it seemed Zhao Zhao hadn’t arrived yet. Cen Luo felt relieved.
“I’m still on the way. I just saw it was seven o’clock and thought it was time to get up, so I gave you a call.”
Earlier, Cen Luo had noticed faint dark circles under her eyes. They weren’t very heavy, but for the beauty-conscious Cen Luo, they were unbearable.
While in the hospital, her sleep quality had been poor due to the environment and physical issues. Since returning home, she had planned to catch up on sleep to make the dark circles disappear.
Lately, Cen Luo had been sleeping an average of over ten hours a day, which had become a habit. Today’s amount of sleep wasn’t quite enough, so her brain was still a bit foggy.
She rolled over and said lazily, “Didn’t we just chat last night? It’s not like we won’t see each other later.”
The other end was silent for a moment before Zhao Zhao spoke again: “Sister, you definitely haven’t bought groceries, right? Come downstairs, let’s go to the supermarket together.”
Cen Luo refused without hesitation. She didn’t want to browse a supermarket early in the morning—it was only seven, so the supermarket might not even be open yet—and more importantly, she’d be with a big star.
What if she gets recognized?
For groceries, she could just order delivery.
Zhao Zhao seemed to understand Cen Luo’s concerns and told her she had made full preparations today and would definitely not be recognized.
“And Sister, I’m joining the film crew soon. It’s quite far away, and our next meeting might not be for another half a year.”
Under Zhao Zhao’s relentless pestering, Cen Luo reluctantly crawled out of bed, washed up, and headed downstairs.
It was more than ten minutes later when she finally made it out. The nearby supermarkets didn’t open until eight.
Given Zhao Zhao’s identity, Cen Luo decided to take her to a nearby wet market instead.
In the morning, the stalls there were mostly frequented by older people.
Compared to younger groups, older people were less likely to recognize Zhao Zhao, and the risk was greatly reduced.
The meeting point was just outside the wet market. Cen Luo spotted a red sports car parked in a space, walked over, and tapped on the window.
Zhao Zhao stepped out of the car.
Only then did Cen Luo see Zhao Zhao’s “gear” for today.
Except for her eyes, no part of her face was exposed. She wore a pair of framed glasses over her eyes, and her hat was pulled down very low.
Cen Luo believed that if they weren’t going to a wet market today, Zhao Zhao would have definitely swapped the framed glasses for sunglasses to hide herself even more thoroughly.
A female celebrity—it was understandable.
However, it seemed Cen Luo was the only one who understood, because everywhere they went in the market, they were followed by the stares of a crowd of elderly people.
There were even whispers in her ear.
Finally, while Cen Luo was buying tomatoes, a white-haired grandmother couldn’t help but ask her:
“Little girl, is your friend a local?”
After speaking, the old grandmother couldn’t help but lean closer to Zhao Zhao, trying to see her face.
Cen Luo frowned. She didn’t understand why the grandmother would ask such a question, but seeing her constantly trying to peek at Zhao Zhao’s face made her feel uneasy. She stood in front of Zhao Zhao, blocking the grandmother’s view, ignored her question, and asked directly how much the tomatoes were.
After Cen Luo paid her in cash and was about to leave, the grandmother called her back.
She saw the grandmother take out her phone, squint her eyes, look at the phone, and then at Zhao Zhao, as if comparing something.
Cen Luo, helpless, leaned over to look at the grandmother’s phone screen. She saw a Most Wanted notice.
And the outfit in the photo looked quite similar to what Zhao Zhao was wearing now.
Cen Luo: “…”
“I think you’d better explain a little.”
Zhao Zhao was surprised. She followed Cen Luo’s gaze, looked at the grandmother’s phone, and paused for a second. Then, she pulled down her mask and gave the grandmother a radiant smile: “Grandma, have you ever seen a bad person as beautiful as me?”
The grandmother was stunned for a moment before hesitating: “It does look like you’re not one.”
“Grandma, why do you have this on your phone?” Zhao Zhao pointed to her phone.
“Haven’t you received the notice? Recently, a criminal gang has appeared nearby, specifically cheating people out of money. This woman was captured by a surveillance camera scouting the area. There are many people behind her. Anyway, you two be careful.”
“How long has this been going on?” Zhao Zhao asked.
“Over a month.”
After leaving the wet market, Zhao Zhao fell into silence. Cen Luo was the only one talking along the way.
Finally, when they arrived downstairs at the apartment, Cen Luo noticed Zhao Zhao’s unusual behavior and asked her what was wrong.
“Sister, how about I stay here and accompany you for a few days?”
“Or should I hire a few bodyguards for you?”
Cen Luo’s head was full of question marks. Bodyguards? Hire them for what? To watch her sleep outside her door and wake her up to eat at set times?
But those thoughts were just a flash in her mind. Cen Luo suddenly remembered what the grandmother at the market had said.
She realized Zhao Zhao was worried about her.
“It’s fine, I’ll be careful myself,” seeing Zhao Zhao’s skeptical look, Cen Luo quickly added, “I have a very high IQ; I won’t be cheated. Besides, Xiao Ran bought me a lot of things to protect myself. Don’t worry.”
After speaking, she reached out and patted Zhao Zhao’s shoulder.
She was secretly happy inside. The title of “Best Sister” definitely belonged to Zhao Zhao—she actually cared about her this much.
Seeing Cen Luo so optimistic, Zhao Zhao stopped talking. Just as she was about to suggest going upstairs, she noticed someone standing not far away. Zhao Zhao instinctively looked up.
The person was very familiar—she had seen her many times, and it was someone she didn’t particularly like: Jian Mu.
“Sister, is she here for you?” Zhao Zhao asked Cen Luo.
Only then did Cen Luo notice Jian Mu.
Cen Luo’s hand was still resting on Zhao Zhao’s shoulder, and Jian Mu’s gaze was also fixed on her hand.
Many complex emotions flickered in her eyes, but Jian Mu eventually suppressed them. She lowered her eyes, then looked up again, slightly pulling at the corners of her mouth to say to Cen Luo: “Good morning.”
Zhao Zhao’s gaze remained on Jian Mu. She didn’t understand why she would appear here.
She was even greeting Cen Luo, and her tone sounded quite casual.
Did something happen that she didn’t know about?
Cen Luo gave a hum as usual. Seeing Zhao Zhao looking completely confused, she pulled her by the sleeve and walked toward the stairwell.
As the two passed by Jian Mu, Jian Mu heard Cen Luo say: “I’ll explain to you later when we get back.”
Explain…
Why did she have to explain?
And they were carrying groceries as if they had just returned from the supermarket. It was only a little after eight—had she come in the middle of last night or this morning?
Regardless of which it was, neither was an answer Jian Mu wanted to hear.
The two figures had already disappeared from her line of sight.
Jian Mu, who had originally intended to go for a morning run, turned around without hesitation.
By the time Jian Mu ran to the elevator, it happened to be stopped on the first floor. Cen Luo and Zhao Zhao had just entered.
When Cen Luo saw Jian Mu not far away, she pressed the close button inside the elevator without a second thought, trying to shut Jian Mu out.
Zhao Zhao caught a glimpse and felt a secret second of satisfaction; it seemed Cen Luo’s attitude toward Jian Mu hadn’t changed at all.
Why only one second? Because in the next second, the closing elevator doors reopened due to the automatic sensors.
Jian Mu walked in and said “sorry” to Cen Luo. She was holding her phone, and she was heard saying into the receiver: “I’ll give you the file in a moment.”
Then she hung up the call—which hadn’t actually connected—and stepped to the side.
Seeing her apologize and hearing what she said to her phone, Cen Luo truly believed Jian Mu had come back for an urgent matter, so she didn’t think much more of it.
Zhao Zhao, however, kept staring at Jian Mu, seemingly guessing the truth.
Due to Jian Mu’s sudden addition, Cen Luo also lost the mood to chat. She didn’t want their conversation to be overheard by Jian Mu.
Soon, the elevator reached the thirteenth floor.
Although Cen Luo had briefly explained to Zhao Zhao just now that she lived somewhat close to Jian Mu, Zhao Zhao hadn’t expected it to be this close.
Living on the same floor of the same building—it truly was a bizarre twist of fate.
Even more coincidentally, Zhao Zhao discovered that Jian Mu didn’t just live on the same floor as Cen Luo; she lived in the apartment right next door.
Heh, so it was her.
That day, after finding out which floor Cen Luo lived on, Zhao Zhao had searched online and seen an advertisement for an apartment for sale.
She called only to be told she was a step late and the house had already been sold to someone else.
Under Zhao Zhao’s persistent pleading, the other party finally gave her a contact number and told her to get in touch with that person.
However, the answers Zhao Zhao received were all rejections. Even though she had increased the price several times, the other party still wouldn’t budge.
Finally, the other party asked for her surname. Although Zhao Zhao didn’t know what she wanted to do, for the sake of the apartment, she honestly sent her surname over.
The result was that she never received another reply from the other party.
Zhao Zhao had never told Cen Luo about this, originally wanting to give her a surprise after buying it. Since she didn’t succeed, there was naturally no need to mention it.
She didn’t expect the person to be Jian Mu.
Thinking about her days of persistent pleading, Zhao Zhao felt a lump in her chest.
As Cen Luo was opening the door, Zhao Zhao stood behind her and said to Cen Luo in a coquettish tone:
“Sister, is it okay if I sleep at your place tonight?”
Jian Mu, standing nearby, paused while turning her key because of Zhao Zhao’s words.
Cen Luo opened the door, took the groceries from Zhao Zhao, and chuckled: “Sure.”
Jian Mu stood there for a long time, not reacting again until the two of them entered the room.
