I’m Definitely Taking This Scumbag Alpha Role! - Chapter 10
Ying Que dreamed of that day again.
The sweltering heat of summer had swallowed a five-year-old child with effortless ease.
She had been locked in the cabinet for an entire night, and finally, she saw light appear.
At that time, Ying Xu had not yet become a company president. The young Alpha still wore her hair in a ponytail, and she had not even had time to change out of her school uniform.
The short skirt could not offer her any protection. Her slender calves knelt inside, and when she came back out, several scratches had already appeared on them.
“Xiao Que, don’t be afraid. Sister is here.”
Held in Ying Xu’s arms, Ying Que felt the world gradually become real again.
The voice she had held back for an entire night burst out, sharp enough to hurt the ears. She clung tightly to her sister’s neck, buried herself in her arms, and cried loudly.
“Sister… she said you and Mom didn’t want me anymore, waah…”
“No. Mom and I both love you very much.”
Ying Xu’s gentle comfort finally gave Ying Que the courage to pour out the pain she had endured over the past few months. “But… Sister, I don’t like them… I don’t want to be friends with them… Why does Mom want me to be friends with them…”
Ying Xu looked at her younger sister’s dusty little face and reached out to wipe it clean.
But the more she did so, the more the glaring scratches stood out against that snow-white, tender skin, making her expression grow increasingly dark.
“All right. Sister will drive them all out.”
Ying Xu’s voice was firm, and from then on, she protected Ying Que’s peace for more than ten years.
But for some reason, when Ying Que watched Ying Xu open her mouth, the words that had repeated in her mind countless times as the very symbol of safety changed into another sentence—
“You can’t rely on me to solve your problems for you your whole life. Your problems should be solved by yourself.”
Ying Que’s heart dropped at once, as if someone had seized it.
She raised her head in shock, unable to believe those words had come from Ying Xu.
And the person who said them was indeed not Ying Xu.
The scene before her suddenly changed. Ying Que stood on an icy marble floor, and before her was a face she did not recognize at all.
That person had a beautiful appearance, with facial proportions so exquisite they were almost perfect.
Her eyes were languid, her long lashes like fans. At first glance, her aura was somewhat similar to Wei Zhixu’s, yet also completely different.
Wei Zhixu’s coldness belonged to a quiet, ethereal kind of chill, while this woman’s coldness was an oppressive force that made people not dare resist.
Ying Que did not remember ever seeing such a beautiful Omega, but then her body spoke beyond her control, her voice careful and trembling with tears.
“Sister…”
Ying Que had never been like this in her life, and she felt completely uncomfortable.
Sister?
Wu Lan’s sister?
Wasn’t Wu Lan an only child?
Ying Que did not understand. Then she heard the person across from her continue, “Xiao Lan, you need to have your own abilities, your own friends. You need to build your own circle. Do you understand?”
Understand my ass.
What kind of abstract nonsense were they talking about?
Everyone who knew Wu Lan knew how timid she was, yet this woman still expected her to build her own circle?
If Wu Lan had that ability, she would not have been chased and beaten until no one even knew where her soul had flown off to.
The suffocating feeling of the body synchronized with the soul, and Ying Que felt an oppressive weight she could not escape.
Yet she could also clearly feel this body’s dependence, admiration, and longing toward the Omega before her.
So… was this why Wu Lan had gone to befriend those triplets?
Even under enormous psychological pressure, she had wanted to satisfy this sister of hers?
Ying Que felt furious.
Furious at Wu Lan’s timidity and lack of resistance, and even more furious at Wu Lan’s sister’s arrogance.
Hey! Open your eyes and look! She’s trembling. Why aren’t you comforting her?
“!”
Anger broke through the dream, making Ying Que open her eyes.
A cool breeze drifted gently. She did not know whether it was because the air-conditioning was strong enough, or because the sight before her suddenly calmed her state of mind.
The blazing noon sunlight was veiled by sheer gauze, spilling gently over the bed and spreading all the way to the bedside.
Wei Zhixu once again appeared beside Ying Que’s hospital bed, holding a black fountain pen in her hand as she unhurriedly marked something on a notebook filled with printed words.
She wrote with great focus, her emerald eyes seeming to hide an entire forest.
The world had been scorched pale by the fierce sun, restless and unbearable.
But Wei Zhixu’s paleness was the complete opposite. It made one’s heart settle.
And this time, there was no third person beside Wei Zhixu handing over an apple, and there was even less of that impostor.
Ying Que gently curled her lips.
She was so happy.
“You’re awake?”
A happy person could easily get carried away. Her secretly watching gaze was utterly unrestrained, and within two seconds, Wei Zhixu caught her.
Ying Que nodded.
The soft pillow wrapped around her whole face, making her look a little obedient, as if anyone could knead her however they liked. One could not tell at all what kind of crazed behavior she had just committed in the changing room.
“Is anywhere uncomfortable?” Wei Zhixu asked, putting down the work in her hands.
After waking up, Ying Que did indeed feel pain in her elbow, and her gland was sore and swollen.
But none of that mattered. What mattered was—
“Sister, I’ll take responsibility for you.”
The Alpha braced herself up with her uninjured arm and sat up from the bed with determination.
Even after changing bodies, Ying Que was still Ying Que. The moment she found an opportunity, she wanted to tie Wei Zhixu to her side.
She was not stingy about expressing her loyalty to Wei Zhixu, and of course, she minded even less taking responsibility for offending Wei Zhixu.
It could even be said that she looked forward to it.
Wei Zhixu was somewhat practiced when it came to this sort of thing. Looking at the nonexistent word “remorse” in Ying Que’s eyes, she said lightly, “You were in your sensitive period. I don’t blame you.”
Who knew whether that meant she did not blame her, or whether she was drawing a clear line between them?
Daylight outlined Wei Zhixu’s figure in a few light strokes, gently pushing away Ying Que’s shadow as it leaned closer.
After being rejected for who knew how many times, Ying Que was not disappointed. Still unrepentant, her eyes turned, and another idea appeared. “Sister saved me. I don’t know how to repay you.”
“How about Sister lets me act in your next script? I’ll definitely perform the best female lead in the world and win Sister a major award!” Ying Que pushed her luck, her sly gaze falling on the script in Wei Zhixu’s hands.
The Omega’s long, slender fingers brushed over the cover, carrying a touch of cherishing.
Wei Zhixu had been revising this script for a very long time. She had been conceiving it almost since she entered the industry, and only recently had the sudden thought of filming it appeared.
Wei Zhixu lowered her head to look at her notebook, then followed Ying Que’s gaze on the notebook back to this person.
After a long while, her lips moved slightly, and she slowly spat out four words. “Repaying kindness with hatred?”
If anyone else had said those four words about Ying Que, she would have cursed them out long ago.
But today, the person who said them was Wei Zhixu.
Ying Que turned and leaned against the railing at the side of the hospital bed. Using this posture, she moved a little closer to Wei Zhixu and worked even harder to sell herself. “Sister, saying that really hurts me. Don’t look at me and think I’m only a freshman. My acting is very good. Look, if I say I’ll cry, I can cry right away.”
The most important thing in a sales pitch was to let the buyer see the product’s value.
Ying Que was not stingy about showing herself off to Wei Zhixu. She stared at the face before her, and without even taking two seconds, tears fell the moment she wanted them to fall.
An Alpha’s tears were rare and clean.
No one knew from which second onward Ying Que’s eyes had already reddened, and tears slowly gathered in them, more precious than pearls.
It truly was a tear beautiful enough to be praised. Round and large, and the instant it fell, her lower lashes still tried to hold it back.
No one would bear to make such a beautiful person cry.
Except Wei Zhixu.
She quietly watched the way Ying Que looked at her. As a screenwriter, she did not indulge in admiring beauty.
The teardrop fell from Ying Que’s chin and dampened a small patch of skin on the back of the Omega’s hand.
Wei Zhixu ignored it. Instead, she reached out and brushed Ying Que’s eye socket. “What were you thinking about when you cried?”
Ying Que had never imagined in her dreams that Wei Zhixu would take the initiative to touch her.
Now that the scorching confusion of her sensitive period had faded, Wei Zhixu’s warm-cool fingers felt even more real than they had in the changing room earlier.
They pressed against Ying Que’s eye socket as if they were pressing against Ying Que’s heart.
Wei Zhixu asked what she had been thinking about in order to cry.
In the past, Ying Que would definitely have blurted out, “Sad things, of course.”
But at this moment, Ying Que felt that this current body was much easier to make cry than her previous body.
Wu Lan seemed to have so, so many tears suppressed in her heart, tears that had never been allowed to be released. Ying Que had barely thought of anything sad, yet the tears had fallen first.
So Wei Zhixu saw through her. As she spoke, the finger that wiped away the tears at Ying Que’s eye withdrew. “Tears carry emotion.”
Even outside her sensitive period, Ying Que’s longing for Wei Zhixu’s palm still existed.
Her heart felt empty for a moment, and she did not want Wei Zhixu to think she had no acting skills. “Sister, this time was an accident. I can cry with more emotion.”
Some trace of mountain grape that had not fully dissipated brushed past, then was scattered by the wind.
The finger stained with tears was damp and warm. Wei Zhixu gently rubbed it once, avoiding Ying Que’s gaze with a restrained distance.
—This person’s tearful panic was prettier than her crying.
Thinking this, Wei Zhixu decided not to tease Ying Que anymore, lest she drag herself into it.
“Clean yourself up. Come out with me.” Wei Zhixu placed the notebook into her bag and stood, signaling to her.
Ying Que did not know what Wei Zhixu had just thought. She simply followed Wei Zhixu obediently out of the hospital room. “Where are we going, Sister?”
“The Dean’s Office,” Wei Zhixu said, not keeping it secret.
The performing arts department’s Dean’s Office was in the office building, separated from the school clinic by only a small plaza.
Ying Que’s mind worked quickly, and she immediately guessed why Wei Zhixu was taking her there.
Wei Zhixu was Ying Que’s backing right now. Ying Que attentively pushed the door open for Wei Zhixu. “Sister, do you think I should act a bit more seriously injured and hang this hand up?”
“If you can keep up the act,” Wei Zhixu said, not dampening Ying Que’s enthusiasm.
Ying Que received this as if it were an imperial decree and was eager to try.
No one knew where this fellow had picked up a roll of medical gauze. As they walked, she fiddled with it, and in the end, she actually managed to sling her bandaged arm in a fairly convincing manner.
“Sister, look. How is it?” Before entering, Ying Que proudly showed Wei Zhixu her masterpiece. “I can also wrap a few circles around my head.”
“Oh right, Sister. When we go in later, should I make my mouth crooked and my eyes slanted, speak unclearly, and look like I have serious psychological trauma?” Ying Que was simply bursting with inspiration.
Wei Zhixu glanced at her phone. Facing this Alpha’s performance in front of her, her tone carried a smile. “I advise you not to.”
“Why?” Ying Que did not understand.
Wei Zhixu did not answer. She raised her hand and knocked twice on the door.
The door was opened by the dean of students. Ying Que looked inside and saw that the triplets’ parents had already arrived.
And sitting across from them was Ying Ming, her face solemn.
