I’m Definitely Taking This Scumbag Alpha Role! - Chapter 11
Time returned to when Wei Zhixu was still in the changing room.
The red light of the surveillance camera flashed rhythmically, like the watching eye of a god.
Wei Zhixu lifted her head unhurriedly, meeting the god’s gaze with her cold, emotionless eyes, as if she were planning something.
“Beep, beep.”
The call went out, and after two seconds, the person on the other end picked up. “Xiao Xu?”
It was Ying Que’s mother, Ying Ming.
“Auntie Ying, Queque and I may be a little late to the gathering,” Wei Zhixu calmly informed her.
“What happened?” Ying Ming was very concerned.
“We ran into something at the school. Once I’ve handled it, I’ll bring Queque home,” Wei Zhixu answered truthfully, as if casting out bait.
Ying Ming’s body slowly left the back of her chair, and she sat up straight like a fish that had been hooked. “Tell Auntie about it. Maybe Auntie can help you.”
.
Even though Wei Zhixu now had both fame and reputation, Ying Ming carried even more weight than her.
The fine brown pinstriped suit came with its own aura of keeping strangers away. When her hand rested on her knee, the slim watch revealed at her wrist was a symbol of money and status.
Ying Ming only had to sit on the sofa in the Dean’s Office, and no one dared sit beside her.
Standing at the door, Ying Que had never felt so strongly that her mommy’s aura was this powerful. The triplets’ parents were crowded awkwardly together on the small sofa to one side, and their foreheads seemed to be breaking out in cold sweat.
“If not for what happened today, I wouldn’t have known your school had this kind of atmosphere,” Ying Ming said coldly, toying with the watch on her wrist.
The dean of students looked embarrassed. “President Ying, isn’t that putting it a little too seriously? This kind of thing is only an isolated case.”
“So isolated cases are allowed to exist?” Ying Ming asked in return, giving the dean no face at all. Even Xiao Li, watching from the side, could not help clenching her fists nervously.
What kind of background did this Wu Lan have?
Not only did Wei Zhixu support her, but even the big boss of a listed corporation had come personally to handle things for her.
After leaving the school clinic, Xiao Li had gone to Wu Lan’s class to investigate at Wei Zhixu’s request.
Almost everyone in Wu Lan’s class could tell that Wu Lan had long been softly bullied by Fang Yiyi.
How strange. Before the Wu family went bankrupt, no one had taken care of Wu Lan. Yet after the bankruptcy, all sorts of powerful figures had appeared to support her.
“Interactions between students inevitably lead to situations like this. After all, even we adults sometimes find it hard to explain mutually beneficial matters clearly,” the dean said, trying to smooth things over after seeing the look Fang Yiyi’s parents gave her.
“President Ying, look, many students have said that things like treating everyone to afternoon tea and movies were all suggested by Student Wu Lan herself. There was no coercion involved. So perhaps Student Wu Lan’s way of making friends was also somewhat wrong?”
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to make friends!” Ying Que said loudly.
Originally, Ying Que had wanted to stand at the doorway and watch how Madam Ying would back her up.
But the moment she heard the dean say this, she could not endure it anymore.
She was proud enough and wild enough.
Even if she was not Wu Lan, since she was now staying in Wu Lan’s shell, she could not tolerate Wu Lan suffering even the slightest grievance.
The little girl’s confident retort was clearly at odds with the “timid” and “silent gourd” descriptions that had appeared many times in Xiao Li’s investigation.
Ying Ming lifted her head and glanced at the child standing by the door, her brow obviously raising slightly. Then she took the initiative to back her up. “So your school advocates victim-blaming?”
“President Ying, of course our school doesn’t advocate such logic.” The dean immediately smiled apologetically.
“Director Wu, Xiao Lan is here now. I do not wish to hear another sentence that could cause her secondary harm. Please watch your words,” Ying Ming warned without mercy.
In the past, Ying Que had been used to being arrogant and domineering. When she was with Ying Ming, she was either being lectured or criticized.
Looking at her mommy’s completely protective attitude toward her now, Ying Que felt an indescribable happiness. This was the first time the two of them had stood on the same side.
“The surveillance footage and the evidence from student interviews have already been placed here. I don’t have much time to handle this matter, so I’ll give you ten more minutes. If you cannot come to a decision, we will pursue legal channels.” Ying Ming issued the final ultimatum, then raised a hand to signal Ying Que and Wei Zhixu to come to her side.
To be honest, in all these years, Ying Que and Ying Ming had rarely shared such a warm moment.
She walked over, and Ying Ming actually took the initiative to pull her hand over, holding it steadily in her own.
Ying Ming’s hand was soft and warm. Under the cool breeze of the air-conditioning, it seemed especially gentle.
Ying Que stared at her and Ying Ming’s overlapping hands for a long while, so focused that she did not even notice Wei Zhixu looking at her.
It was almost laughable. She had to rely on someone else’s shell before she could clearly feel maternal love.
“President Ying, isn’t expulsion too severe as a punishment?” Fang Yiyi’s mother was rubbing her hands so anxiously sparks might as well have flown out.
“Then the school and the three parents can speak with my lawyer,” Ying Ming said, rising as if to leave.
In the upper circles of City A, everyone knew that the Ying family had its own legal team, and that team had never lost.
Ying Que really did want to see the scene of cannons being used to blast mosquitoes.
But the dean would not let the situation develop in an uncontrollable direction and immediately said, “President Ying, I agree to your request. The school will handle the three students’ expulsion.”
Ying Ming sat back down. The assistant beside her caught her gaze and entered the next step of the process. “The three students must apologize to my client, Miss Wu Lan, in person, and return the money they extorted and occupied from Miss Wu over the past year.”
“It was clearly her—”
“Shut up!”
Expulsion was already ugly enough, and when Fang Yiyi heard that they had to return the money, she grew even more unwilling.
Her mother could clearly see the situation better than this daughter of hers. She could not change the expulsion, so a small matter like this was even less worth offending Ying Ming over.
“Miss Wu was frightened this time. How about we all go out for a meal later?” Fang Yiyi’s mother forced out a very strained smile.
“No, thanks.” Ying Que did not accept the courtesy and directly cut off Fang Yiyi’s mother.
Ying Ming was so reliable that Ying Que had completely forgotten she was supposed to show Wei Zhixu her acting skills. She was entirely being herself.
When had Ying Que ever given face to people she disliked?
She only lifted her chin and warned the triplets, who had already turned into quails. “Apologize, return the money, and take a detour whenever you see me from now on. Did you hear me?”
Ying Ming looked at the child beside her with the arm sling, her expression complicated.
She had read the materials Xiao Li gathered and could not help wondering what exactly a child had to experience to separate herself from the word “timid” in such a short time.
So even though Ying Que’s behavior at this moment was rude and overbearing, Ying Ming still supported her to the end, silently allowing Ying Que to bring out her phone’s payment QR code and settle accounts with the three families.
In the end, the incident concluded with Ying Que’s side achieving a complete victory.
When Ying Que walked out of the Dean’s Office, she looked like a little leopard flushed with success, head held high and chest out.
And Ying Ming followed behind Ying Que like the little leopard’s source of confidence.
The sunlight drifted across the corridor, making the girl’s figure look long but thin. At a glance, one could tell she had suffered quite a bit.
Ying Ming looked her over and, for some reason, always subconsciously cared about this child. “Xiao Lan, Auntie Wang told me you lost your memory. Did what just happened make you uncomfortable? Your arm…”
“It’s fake.” Ying Que nimbly took her arm out of the bandage. “I originally wanted to scare them, but I didn’t expect there was no need at all.”
“Actually, I also know they weren’t sincerely apologizing to me, but that’s exactly why it felt satisfying.” Ying Que smiled brightly, holding her phone and admiring the spoils of her victory.
But this pride did not last long. With a ding from a text message notification, Ying Que let out a miserable scream. “Ah!”
“What’s wrong?” Seeing Ying Que’s miserable expression, Ying Ming could not help worrying.
This fellow could laugh when she wanted and cry when she wanted. With a bitter expression, she raised her phone. “The money. It’s gone.”
The text message notified Ying Que that one million had been deducted from her bank card.
The money she had just gotten had not even had time to warm in her hands before it vanished in the blink of an eye.
“Because there’s debt, the bank automatically deducted it,” Wei Zhixu explained calmly to the two of them after glancing at the contents of Ying Que’s phone.
This was the first time Ying Que truly felt the enormity of the Wu family’s debts.
A mere one million was nowhere near enough to fill that bottomless pit.
Even though Ying Que had no real concept of money, this number still frightened her.
The little leopard who had been so smug moments ago became full of worry in an instant.
“I’ll help with the Wu family’s debt problem,” Ying Ming said. She did not like seeing the child before her look disappointed. She preferred the way Ying Que had looked in the Dean’s Office just now, composed to the point of flamboyance. “Making a child who just came of age take responsibility for it is far too unreasonable.”
“Thank you, m… you.”
There was no helping it. Ying Que still wanted to call the person in front of her “Mom.”
But this body would not agree, and that damned lightning would agree even less.
Her thanks got stuck, making her seem like a child at a loss.
“You can call me Cousin,” Ying Ming said gently.
“That doesn’t seem good.” Ying Que scratched her head, collapsing a little inside.
How could she call her mother “Cousin”?
Although taking advantage of the impostor felt very good, she did not want to call her mother a fellow sister either!
Ying Ming did not understand. “What’s wrong with it? That way, we’ll seem more like family.”
But we were family to begin with…
Ying Que looked at Ying Ming, and her eyes visibly lowered.
Her acting skills really were not very good. Clearly, this was a moment when she should hide her emotions, yet she exposed them completely.
Wei Zhixu noticed. “Auntie…”
But unexpectedly, Ying Ming interrupted her. “Ah, look at me. I almost forgot the important thing. When I came, Auntie Wang asked me to ask you, Xiao Lan, what you’d like for dinner today.”
“Sweet-and-sour pork ribs, I guess.” Ying Que was not in high spirits and casually named a dish she liked.
“All right. I’ll arrange it right away. Don’t feel pressured at home.” Ying Ming stroked Ying Que’s head and personally opened the car door for her, as if apologizing for having brought up the matter of family to this child who had just lost both parents.
“But Xiao Lan, there is one thing you must remember. In the future, you cannot use something like a box cutter to attack people. An Alpha holding a weapon is a very serious matter. When Zhixu sent me the surveillance footage, even I was frightened,” Ying Ming reminded Ying Que.
“Oh. I know.” Ying Que nodded, her expression a little distant.
She turned to look at Wei Zhixu. Only then did she realize that Ying Ming had come not because the school had notified her, but because Wei Zhixu had helped her.
“Sister, why didn’t you tell me on the way here?” Ying Que slowly looked toward Wei Zhixu, and at last, a slight smile reappeared on her face.
“You were very focused on wrapping your bandages,” Wei Zhixu said lightly, as if she did not want Ying Que to take it to heart.
But how could Ying Que not take this matter to heart?
“Repaying a favor” was her best excuse to get close to Wei Zhixu.
No one knew when this person had started to smile like a fox too. “Sister helped me so much this time. I’ll definitely repay Sister properly! I absolutely won’t repay kindness with hatred!”
Wei Zhixu looked at Ying Que’s fox-like eyes. No one knew what she was thinking. She only seemed to smile without quite smiling and answered Ying Que, “All right.”
With her mother protecting her, and Wei Zhixu agreeing to let her repay her, Ying Que felt that today, she was simply the luckiest Alpha in the world.
When they reached the entrance of the house, her steps were light as she jumped out of the car, looking forward to dinner later with Sister and Mom.
But as soon as she pushed the door open, Ying Que ran straight into her own face.
After not seeing her for a few days, this person had dressed herself up much more obediently. Her golden hair had been dyed back to black, and there was no half-draped, half-exposed robe, only a proper set of pure cotton house clothes.
“Young Aunt, you’re back.”
