Chapter 34
Burning lips touched, soft as if they were about to melt away.
Ming Ruixue’s eyes were slightly open, meeting Si Xia’s shocked pupils. Those red, moist eyes stared blankly at her, filled with astonishment and a sense of being at a loss.
Was this a mistake? Perhaps the Alpha Si Xia needed wasn’t her, but someone else.
Ming Ruixue had acted on her own assumptions, trying to soothe her, but Si Xia’s expression seemed to tell her that this was wrong.
Her lips pulled away, and Ming Ruixue released her chin. “I’m sorry. I’ll go find a doctor for you…”
As she turned to leave, Si Xia grabbed her wrist. “Don’t… it’s useless…”
The drug’s effects were becoming increasingly evident. The Omega bit her lip, her curled legs intertwining in unbearable restlessness. Si Xia closed her eyes for three seconds to steady herself. “Sister, help me.”
There was no better way. Aside from Ming Ruixue, there was no other suitable Alpha nearby to help her. Si Xia looked at Ming Ruixue with reddened eyes; their noses brushed as she offered her own lips.
Met with the scent of milk, Ming Ruixue flinched slightly, but Si Xia used both hands to lock Ming’s cheeks in place and kissed her lips.
It was like a cat discovering catnip—urgent and impatient. Being “eaten” by top-tier catnip, Si Xia felt she wasn’t the one losing out.
Ming Ruixue was grabbed by the collar, spun half a turn, and thrown into the soft mattress as the kiss deepened.
Once it began, there was no stopping.
Ming Ruixue’s body grew stiff. Wrapped in scalding body heat, her blood surged upward. Alpha pheromones began to diffuse bit by bit, the catnip scent growing denser and denser.
Si Xia’s frantic movements gradually slowed; it seemed the catnip pheromones were working, and the Omega’s emotions stabilized.
Ming Ruixue felt conflicted. This was wrong, but if she didn’t do this, Si Xia’s life could be in danger. Under this double conflict, she frowned deeply, yet as she tried to pull her lips away, she was bitten until it hurt.
Si Xia’s chaotic kissing was like a kitten gnawing, causing pain, as if she had no intention of letting her go.
Ming Ruixue was forced to endure it. After several bites, Si Xia’s symptoms briefly leveled off only to grow more severe; she hadn’t found true relief, and the drug was almost burning the Omega into a stupor.
Si Xia released her mouth, panting with difficulty. “Sister, you have to help me…”
Her entire weight pressed down on Ming Ruixue. With her palms propping up Si Xia’s waist, Ming Ruixue felt flustered. “Ho… how do I help?”
Ming Ruixue truly didn’t understand these things. This was an unprepared treatment; she didn’t dare cross the line or make a decision on her own, fearing she would trigger Si Xia’s resentment. Thus, she was willing to let Si Xia take the initiative.
“Sister, give me your hand.”
Si Xia reached out her palm. Ming Ruixue grasped it without hesitation. Si Xia’s face turned even redder as she grabbed just one of Ming’s fingers and led it downward.
Ming Ruixue understood what was coming next. Her free hand gripped the bedsheets tight, and her mind went completely blank.
Si Xia sat down gently, whispering a single word into Ming Ruixue’s ear in a soft voice.
The lights dimmed, and Ming Ruixue’s palm “juiced” a glass.
Only this time, it was salty coconut milk.
The catnip on the nightstand grew exceptionally well, becoming more and more lush.
The scent of the catnip seemed to have been watered by a shallow spray of salt water. The tender green leaves stretched, winding upward, curving into beautiful arcs at the tips.
Another spray of water came down, thoroughly drenching the leaves. As if perspiring, continuous droplets slid down the leaves, the sound of the dripping masking their breathing.
Outside the cruise ship, the seawater slapped against the windows, kicking up a tide that surged to its peak, and the ship swayed along with it.
Today was the best Si Xia had ever cared for the catnip.
A few days ago, when Si Xia transplanted the catnip, she was afraid she couldn’t keep it alive. She hadn’t expected its vitality to be so vigorous. When she planted it in the evening, half of it was withered and limp; by the middle of the night, it seemed to have absorbed some essence, gaining more and more energy and growing better and better.
Si Xia was so startled she covered her mouth, not wanting anyone to discover this plant. Because this was her secret, and now it had become the catnip’s secret as well.
The catnip only needed to be watered once to learn how to grow on its own. Leaves crushed the red fruit pulp, and the juice splattered.
Ming Ruixue’s voice was husky. “Was the juicing technique you taught me… useful?”
The steps for juicing had been taught to her by Si Xia hand-over-hand; that time was a joking tease, and the lesson had been a bit heavy-handed.
Si Xia buried her face in the pillow and shook her head. “A little gentler.”
“So Teacher Si Xia also has times when her teaching fails.” Ming Ruixue looked down at her and said softly, “Coconut milk doesn’t need to be squeezed hard. It just needs a straw.”
The drug effect hadn’t subsided. Ming Ruixue felt this couldn’t go on; the effect of juicing was too slow. Hearing Si Xia’s increasingly pained sounds, Ming Ruixue made a suggestion. “The coconut milk is gone. Should I suck the pulp instead?”
Si Xia’s head buzzed. “What?”
Ming Ruixue’s palm tested the temperature of Si Xia’s forehead. Both of them were a bit “high,” not just from the drug, but from the attraction of pheromones.
And the attraction of heart to heart.
The temperature was still scalding. Ming Ruixue grew bolder, her butterfly kisses descending.
The coconut pulp and milk were poured into the glass together. As Ming Ruixue drank it all in one gulp, she accidentally bit the pulp, which instantly turned red.
Like a piece of fruit stained bright crimson.
Si Xia’s fingers ran through Ming Ruixue’s hair. As the “pulp” was pulled away, she took a sharp breath and said with a red face, “Maybe a marking would be more useful.”
When all was said and done, Ming Ruixue was still inexperienced. Her eyes flickered with a trace of bashfulness. “…”
How had she not thought of that? Why was Si Xia’s thinking still so clear at a time like this? It made Ming Ruixue look like the one with ill intentions.
Ming Ruixue nodded helplessly. “Okay.”
The latter half of the night passed, and the breathing in the empty room grew steady.
The wandering cruise ship also gradually stabilized—it was the calm after the surging tide.
With a stinging nape and traces of blood, Si Xia looked at Ming Ruixue and asked, “Was it a temporary marking?”
Ming Ruixue was picking up her clothes from the floor. Hearing the voice, she shielded her body. “Of course it was…”
The matter was over.
The Alpha awkwardly put on her clothes, looking like a completely different person from a moment ago.
Si Xia averted her gaze, biting her lower lip. “You ate all the ‘fruit pulp.’ I’m the one who should be shy, right?”
At the mention of the coconut pulp, Ming Ruixue was so nervous she bit her tongue. “I thought that would be useful. I’m sorry, I accidentally…”
Si Xia was burning with embarrassment. She wanted her to shut up, but Ming Ruixue insisted on apologizing. “I bit you until it hurt, it looks like the skin broke. I’ll go get medicine for you.”
Si Xia: “…”
It did indeed hurt. But how could she say “I’ll get medicine for you” with such a righteous, serious face?
Si Xia curled up under the blankets, her voice coming out muffled. “No…”
Ming Ruixue thought she was in too much pain to speak or didn’t want to take pills. After getting dressed, she went to the cruise’s emergency room and only took a topical anti-inflammatory ointment, refusing any oral medication.
When Ming Ruixue returned, Si Xia was limping toward the bathroom. There was nothing nearby to lean on, and she looked like she might fall from weak legs at any moment.
As if on cue, Si Xia didn’t even have the strength to step onto the bathroom ledge, her legs refusing to lift.
Ming Ruixue carried her into the bathroom and placed her on the sink counter. “What are you doing?”
Her slippers fell off. Si Xia sat on the cold sink, the pressure making the pain worse. She could only press her hands against Ming Ruixue’s shoulders and say piteously, “It hurts. Carry me down.”
“I… I’m sorry.” Ming Ruixue snapped to her senses and carried her down, but she didn’t know where to put her. Si Xia lowered her eyes. “I want to shower.”
“Oh, okay.” Ming Ruixue’s usual composure was completely gone. After what happened, facing Si Xia made her feel like a child who had done something wrong, wanting only to do more to make up for it.
After preparing the bathwater, Ming Ruixue helped Si Xia find pajamas and a towel.
Si Xia took them, her gaze skimming over Ming Ruixue’s reddened fingers. The atmosphere grew awkward once more.
Clearing her throat, Ming Ruixue gave her the anti-inflammatory medicine she’d bought. “Apply it after your shower…”
“Oh.” After Si Xia took it, she immediately shut the bathroom door.
There was no sound from the bathroom. Ming Ruixue walked to the door and reminded her, “Call me when you’re done.”
This time Si Xia didn’t respond. Ming Ruixue went back to her own room for a quick shower; when she came out, Si Xia still wasn’t finished.
Listening to the rustling sounds from the room, Ming Ruixue instinctively licked her lips.
So sweet. Sweeter than milk.
While Si Xia was showering, Ming Ruixue stripped all the bedding to take it for washing. She didn’t take it to the laundry room, but to her own room. Primarily, the water stain on the sheet was not something she wanted anyone else to see.
After washing the sheets, Ming Ruixue asked the staff to bring new bedding. Once everything was set, she waited another ten minutes. The bathroom door opened, and Si Xia stood by the step, leaning against the doorframe to try and walk out.
Ming Ruixue appeared just in time, carrying her back to the bed.
The Omega had just showered, her skin was very red—delicate enough to turn crimson at a light touch. Truly, her whole body was delicate; Ming Ruixue hadn’t dared to use force earlier, for fear of crushing the “fruit pulp.”
Ming Ruixue glanced at the unopened medicine by the bed. She didn’t apply it?
Si Xia lay in the clean blankets, her skin turning a shade redder. She didn’t know where the sheets had gone; what if someone saw them? Just as she was thinking this, Si Xia’s gaze turned toward the balcony. The sheets she had washed herself were fluttering there, not yet rinsed, still damp.
Si Xia’s brow smoothed. So, she had washed them herself.
After tossing and turning for most of the night, the drug in Si Xia’s system had mostly dissipated and the heat receded, but she still had no energy; her whole body felt like mush.
Ming Ruixue saw how weak Si Xia was. She used a dry towel to wipe her hair. “Your hair is still wet. Dry it before you sleep.”
Si Xia let her rub her head, but she changed positions, lying on her side. “Tired.”
Didn’t want to dry her hair, didn’t want to move. She was going to sleep with wet hair.
Ming Ruixue found the hairdryer and instinctively blurted out, “You didn’t do any of the work, how can you be tired?”
As soon as she said it, Si Xia threw a towel into her face.
The towel covering her face slid down. Ming Ruixue caught it and tossed it on the table nearby.
Tsk, how could she just blurt that out?
Si Xia refused to show her face, so Ming Ruixue could only follow her sleeping posture to dry her hair for her. The Omega’s hair was soft; Ming’s fingertips slid through it like silk, the texture fine and delicate.
Ming Ruixue’s mind wandered. How is she so smooth everywhere?
The hair was dried quickly. The sound of the hairdryer stopped, and Si Xia had fallen asleep. Her even breathing was by Ming’s ear; it seemed she really was exhausted.
Outside the window, the sky began to turn pale. Dawn was breaking. It was time for a good sleep after a night of chaos. Even the catnip on the nightstand seemed tired, its leaves drooping as it slept.
Ming Ruixue drew the curtains. The light dimmed, yet she didn’t have a wink of sleep in her. She watched the sea view from the balcony for an hour. The sun rose from the coastline, warm golden rays piercing the clouds.
Ming Ruixue raised her hand to block the light; the soft, smooth sensation on her fingers still lingered.
Images of Si Xia biting her shoulder in pain uncontrollably filled her mind. She admitted to herself that a trace of selfishness had emerged—she wanted to possess Si Xia completely.
That unreleased, surging tide was forcibly suppressed by reason. Ming Ruixue leaned her head back against the chair. They shouldn’t have slept together so ambiguously.
It wasn’t fair to Si Xia. She owed Si Xia an explanation.
After an unknown amount of time, Ming Ruixue heard movement in the room. Si Xia had woken up. Dazed, she tried to get out of bed, but her legs went weak and she couldn’t stand.
Ming Ruixue hurried to catch her, wrapping an arm around her waist to lift her back onto the bed.
Si Xia rubbed her legs. She thought she would be fine after a sleep, but why did it feel worse?
Ming Ruixue opened the medicine, dipped a cotton swab into the solution, and said, “Why didn’t you apply the medicine? Do you want me to help you?”
