Chapter 39
“Who’s your girlfriend?!”
Si Xia let out a weak roar. Like a kitten bristling its fur, she had zero offensive power; even if pushed to her limit, she would only swat at you with soft, squishy paw pads, without even extending her claws.
She was incredibly cute.
Si Xia felt suspended in mid-air as she sat on Ming Ruixue’s lap. Lacking a sense of security and afraid she might fall if she moved too much, she found Ming Ruixue even more excessive—the Alpha deliberately swayed her legs in small movements to tease her.
Si Xia was already in pain; when the Alpha swayed, her body swayed along with her. Just as she was about to topple over, she had no choice but to loop her arms around Ming Ruixue’s neck to find a point of support.
Ming Ruixue blew provocatively into her ear. “If you’re not my girlfriend, why are you hugging me?”
The fragrance of catnip brushed against her face.
Si Xia’s whole body stiffened, and the skin behind her ears went numb. The heat period she had just suppressed began to stir again.
Si Xia gave up resisting. Her body felt uncomfortable from the inside out; going against Ming Ruixue was simply looking for trouble. Once she was fully recovered, she would definitely make Ming Ruixue pay it back twofold.
Ming Ruixue blew again. “Say something. Why are you grinding your teeth?”
Her pale toes curled up. Si Xia bit the soft flesh inside her mouth and remained silent.
Ming Ruixue scooped her up in a princess carry and headed toward the bedroom. “If you won’t talk, I’ll take it as a tacit agreement.”
“I did no such thing.” Si Xia turned her face away, but froze the moment she touched the soft bed.
Ming Ruixue’s home had a dark-themed decor, and the bedding was also dark. On the sheets, the continuous, large patches of water stains were startlingly clear.
Si Xia’s face instantly exploded in a crimson flush, which surged up violently from her neck. She truly wished she could find a hole to crawl into.
Ming Ruixue placed Si Xia on the sofa and, without a word, began stripping the bedding and stuffing it into the fully automatic washing machine.
For two days in a row, the same scene played out. Si Xia curled up on the sofa, clutching her knees, hiding her face in shame while peering through the cracks of her fingers to observe Ming Ruixue’s reaction.
From the clean sets in the house, Ming Ruixue picked a light pink set with a cat pattern and spread it across the bed.
Ming Ruixue seemed very adept at housework. The wide sheet was obedient in her hands; she flung it from the foot to the head of the bed, grabbed two corners, and with a gentle snap, the sheet spread out perfectly flat. She then folded the corners and tucked them in, and the bed was made.
The movement of changing the duvet cover was even more fluid. With a few quick flips—before Si Xia could even see how it happened—the duvet was inside.
Si Xia couldn’t help but let out a surprised “Wow~”
The remaining two pillows were simple. After Ming Ruixue finished, she looked at the amazed Si Xia and said with a smile, “Si Xia, this color of sheet is very light. No matter how much water you leak, it won’t be visible.”
Si Xia retracted her amazement. “It would be better if you didn’t have a mouth.”
Ming Ruixue licked her lips, her eyes darkening. “If I didn’t have a mouth, what would happen to my girlfriend’s happiness?”
“Ming Ruixue!” Si Xia was nearly dying of anger. She simply couldn’t out-argue her; no matter what she said, Ming Ruixue could find a reason to refute her. Si Xia had never felt her own tongue could be so clumsy; everything she said seemed to have a loophole. Was Ming Ruixue looking for trouble on purpose?!
A kitten is easy to annoy when teased too much. Although Ming Ruixue believed she was telling the truth, she wasn’t going to argue with Si Xia while she was unwell.
“Girlfriend, don’t be mad. I’ll feed you.” Ming Ruixue brought over a bowl of warm porridge, blew on it, and offered it to Si Xia’s lips.
Si Xia’s face was flushed with anger. “Not eating.”
“If you don’t eat, how will you have the energy to argue with me?” Ming Ruixue gently pried her mouth open with her hand. “Be good, eat some.”
Si Xia was forced to take a sip of the porridge, chewing expressionlessly before swallowing.
Ming Ruixue offered another spoonful. “Is it too bland? Want some sugar?”
Si Xia ignored her. “I’ll drink it myself.”
Tsk.
The little kitten who was clinging to her last night was giving her the cold shoulder today. As expected, she was being tossed away after being used.
Ming Ruixue pinched her lips, making Si Xia’s mouth pout. “Mmph… what are you doing?”
“Do you have a conscience?” Ming Ruixue questioned softly. “You threw me away after using me, and you used up my grass too. Now you’re still sulking with me—I’m the one who should feel wronged, okay?”
After Ming Ruixue finished her rant in one breath, Si Xia blinked. “So?”
“So… ‘So’?” Ming Ruixue almost laughed from anger. “So how do you plan to compensate me?”
Last time, the deal was for the kitten to sleep with her, but the kitten never showed up. Instead, there was this temperamental little kitten who threw her away after use.
Ming Ruixue released her hand and grazed Si Xia’s cheek with her thumb. “I can actually accept you giving yourself to me as compensation.”
Si Xia’s cheeks were soft and smooth, feeling great to the touch. Ming Ruixue couldn’t help but pinch them a few more times.
“Mmph—” Si Xia batted her hand away. “Don’t touch me.”
As if not touching her were possible. Ming Ruixue gripped the back of her neck, forcing her close to her face. “Do you agree or not?”
Their breaths mingled, the scent of milk and catnip intertwining.
Si Xia looked into Ming Ruixue’s beautiful eyes and quietly held her breath. “I… don’t…”
“Don’t agree?” Ming Ruixue interrupted her first. “If you don’t agree, then I’ll pursue you.”
“Huh?” Si Xia swallowed. She had expected Ming Ruixue to use force.
“If you don’t agree after I pursue you…” Ming Ruixue said impatiently, “Then I can only take you by force.”
Si Xia: “…”
I knew it.
“Are you always this impatient when pursuing someone?” Si Xia’s expression was one of shock. “Talking so aggressively.”
Ming Ruixue indeed had no experience in pursuing anyone. She softened her tone and said, “Then I’ll give you a one-week buffer period, and then I’ll pursue you?”
Si Xia calmed down, but before she could speak, Ming Ruixue remembered something and added, “Your legs should be healed in a week.”
So that was the reason for the buffer period.
Si Xia had never seen such an unreasonable person. “I’m not listening to you.”
Ming Ruixue, determined to win her over, opened the ointment and dabbed it on her fingertip. “If you still don’t agree in a week, I guarantee your legs will stay weak for another two weeks.”
Si Xia had provoked a catnip spirit that was not to be trifled with. How could Ming Ruixue even make a confession of pursuit sound so overbearing?
She hated it.
Yet, a kitten inherently relies on catnip to find relief; catnip had a natural attraction for Si Xia. Si Xia couldn’t bring herself to reject Ming Ruixue completely.
Ming Ruixue melted the ointment with her fingertip. “Come here, medicine time.”
Si Xia ground her teeth and retreated. “Ming Ruixue, don’t come over.”
“It won’t heal in a week if we don’t apply the medicine.” Ming Ruixue said with ill intent, “How will you run away then?”
“Wuwuwu…” Si Xia clutched her pant legs. “Ming Ruixue, take me home today.”
“I’ll take you back once you’re better.” Ming Ruixue gripped Si Xia’s ankle, pulled her into her arms, and grumbled, “Pants are such a hassle. Change into a skirt later.”
Si Xia lay on the sofa with her face turned up, her hands clutching the hem of Ming Ruixue’s clothes, crying for mercy. “Sister, I can apply it myself.”
“Now you know how to call me ‘Sister’? Weren’t you just calling me by my full name?”
The pants fell to a corner of the sofa. Ming Ruixue bent Si Xia’s knees upward, and a cool breeze rushed underneath.
“Calling me ‘Sister’ is useless now.” Ming Ruixue gripped Si Xia’s pale, tender knees with one hand. “Be good. Spread your legs.”
