After Becoming an Alpha, I Became a Charmer (GL) - Chapter 34.1
What Xia Zhiyu didn’t expect was that Xie Rongrong would spend the entire morning quietly studying the documents without asking to see Ruan Wu.
She is smarter than I thought.
Xie Rongrong probably knew that Ruan Wu valued work the most and didn’t want to mess up and delay Ruan Wu’s work progress.
Studying diligently now would not only win Ruan Wu’s approval but also allow her to gain genuine knowledge. The minor inconvenience now would yield greater rewards later. Smart people wouldn’t choose otherwise.
The morning passed quickly in busyness. Although Xie Rongrong was studying seriously, she still spared some energy to record the amount of time Xia Zhiyu spent in her own office. The result was that in three hours that morning, Xia Zhiyu spent less than fifteen minutes in the secretary’s office.
The rest of the time Xia Zhiyu spent elsewhere was self-evident.
At lunchtime, Xia Zhiyu returned to the office. Seeing Xie Rongrong still reading documents, she kindly reminded her, “It’s time for lunch break. The company has its own cafeteria, or you can order takeout. I can take you to the cafeteria if you’d like.”
Xie Rongrong replied, “No need. Secretary Xia should know that I’m not so poor that I can’t afford takeout.”
Xia Zhiyu nodded and smiled. “Indeed, Miss Xie certainly has the means to order takeout. Well, I won’t chat with you any longer. I need to go buy lunch at the cafeteria.”
Although Xia Zhiyu’s tone and expression were normal, Xie Rongrong inexplicably felt that she was being mocked.
Xie Rongrong called out unhappily, “Secretary Xia.”
Xia Zhiyu turned back in surprise. “Did Miss Xie have something else to discuss? Have you changed your mind and want to experience the cafeteria?”
“Ha! I absolutely refuse to go to a crowded cafeteria with a bunch of people. Forget it.”
“Alright.” Xia Zhiyu sighed with a knowing smile, seemingly a little disappointed.
Xie Rongrong immediately felt uneasy. She said, “Secretary Xia, where is Ms. Ruan? Is she in the office now? I want to have lunch with her.”
“Oh, Ms. Ruan is in the office now, but she’s about to leave. Miss Xie, you probably won’t be able to have lunch with her,” Xia Zhiyu said honestly.
“Why? Is Sister Ruan Wu going out for work at lunchtime? That’s too much work,” Xie Rongrong frowned, sounding distressed.
“No, you misunderstood, Little Xie,” Xia Zhiyu said, her tone level and a smile on her face. “The reason Ms. Ruan is about to leave the office is not to go out for work, but to go to the company cafeteria for lunch with me. Ms. Ruan has been eating lunch in the company cafeteria for quite a while now.”
“What?” Xie Rongrong’s expression cracked.
I knew it! She wondered why Xia Zhiyu suddenly offered to take her to the cafeteria. I knew Xia Zhiyu was trying to trick me! She must have been trying to make her assure Xia Zhiyu that she wouldn’t go, deliberately prompting her to make a firm promise not to go.
Xie Rongrong looked at Xia Zhiyu as if she were her enemy. “Xia Zhiyu, you…”
Xia Zhiyu chuckled. “Alright, I won’t joke with you anymore, Little Xie. Ms. Ruan sent me to ask you to join us for lunch in the cafeteria. Ms. Ruan is waiting outside. You should hurry, Little Xie.”
The situation took a sharp turn. Xie Rongrong was utterly frustrated. She had been angry just a moment ago, but the next second, Xia Zhiyu claimed she was just joking.
How can there be such a boring Alpha as Xia Zhiyu? She’s so cunning!
If I hadn’t asked about Ruan Wu, would she have just casually gone out and told Ruan Wu that I didn’t want to go to the cafeteria?
However, Xie Rongrong was overjoyed by the sudden good news. Even though she saw through Xia Zhiyu’s intention, she couldn’t stay angry any longer.
“Let’s go, Secretary Xia! Sister Ruan Wu is waiting for me~” Xie Rongrong deliberately emphasized the word “me,” stressing Ruan Wu’s preference for her.
Xia Zhiyu’s expression remained calm. She reminded Xie Rongrong, “Even during break time, it’s best not to change the way you address Ms. Ruan.”
Xie Rongrong rolled her eyes at her. “I know, Secretary Xia.”
Xia Zhiyu watched her cheerfully rush out and sighed inwardly. Xie Rongrong was too smart. She had hoped to trick her into giving up on eating with Ruan Wu.
However, Ruan Wu was right. Since she was already interning here, they had to keep up the pretense and not worry about such trivial matters.
Xia Zhiyu left the secretary’s office. Xie Rongrong was already standing obediently next to Ruan Wu, whining melodramatically. “Secretary Xia is so mean! She tried to trick me into not joining you for lunch in the cafeteria. She definitely wanted to eat with you alone! Ms. Ruan, you had no idea Secretary Xia had such a nasty side, did you?”
Seeing Xia Zhiyu come out, Xie Rongrong immediately glared at her.
Ruan Wu looked at Xia Zhiyu, her heart stirring slightly.
I also want to continue having lunch alone with Xia Zhiyu, but with Xie Rongrong here, that was basically impossible.
Xia Zhiyu shrugged. “Ms. Ruan, I’m innocent. Little Xie must have misunderstood me.”
“Hmph! It’s definitely not a misunderstanding!”
Ruan Wu chuckled. “Alright, stop arguing like children. People in the company will think I’m running a kindergarten.”
“Let’s go. If we go too late, all the good food will be gone.”
The three walked toward the elevator. Xie Rongrong turned back to glare at Xia Zhiyu. She thought Ruan Wu must have been charmed by Xia Zhiyu’s smooth talk to be so biased toward her.
My compliments are sweet too. I just haven’t had a chance to show them off. Once she finished studying the documents, she would be able to follow Ruan Wu every day and shower her with compliments. Then I’ll definitely be able to push Xia Zhiyu out.
There were a few employees waiting by the elevator. Seeing Ruan Wu and Xia Zhiyu approach, they quickly greeted them. “Ms. Ruan, Secretary Xia.”
Xie Rongrong’s face fell. She strongly disliked seeing Ruan Wu and Xia Zhiyu standing side by side.
“May I ask who this is?”
Finally, a bold employee looked at Xie Rongrong curiously. “Who is this young lady?”
Xie Rongrong quickly said, “My name is Xie Rongrong. I’m Ms. Ruan’s assistant. You can call me Assistant Xie.”
“I see. Hello, Assistant Xie.” Xie Rongrong was finally satisfied. They knew who she was and that she was Ruan Wu’s assistant. Next time they greeted them, they would definitely address her and Ruan Wu together.
It would be best if no one paid attention to Xia Zhiyu.
When they arrived at the cafeteria, Xie Rongrong realized that Xia Zhiyu was incredibly popular. Almost everyone’s eyes lit up when they saw Xia Zhiyu, and they happily greeted her. The smile on Xia Zhiyu’s face barely faded.
Xie Rongrong gnashed her teeth inwardly. That vixen! Seducing people everywhere!
How can she smile at so many people? Is she trying to turn the entire company into her harem?
My Sister Ruan Wu is the one who should be loved more. How dare she steal Sister Ruan Wu’s thunder so blatantly?
Xie Rongrong quickly checked Ruan Wu’s expression. Seeing Ruan Wu slightly frown, Xie Rongrong thought, See! Sister Ruan Wu can’t stand her behavior of fluttering around and spreading her charm either!
While they were queuing, Xie Rongrong looked surprised. “Ms. Ruan, you’re the CEO. Do you still need to queue?”
These employees are so oblivious! Employees at her family’s company would speak to her respectfully and barely stand straight when they saw her accompanying her father to the company. Every single one of them was perceptive.
Ruan Wu said, “I’m just an employee of the company, too. Nothing special.”
Xie Rongrong felt awkward for a moment, but her eyes shone even brighter as she looked at Ruan Wu. As expected of my idol! She’s different from everyone else.
If those employees heard Sister Ruan Wu’s words, they would be so excited that they would run over and worship her.
Xie Rongrong thought proudly.
It’s a shame these people have such vulgar taste. They only cared about looks and gender, not substance. They smiled brightly when greeting Xia Zhiyu but barely looked at Sister Ruan Wu when greeting her. They have no taste!
When it was finally their turn, Xia Zhiyu bought the meals for herself and Ruan Wu. Xie Rongrong stood behind her, separating her from Ruan Wu. After Xia Zhiyu left to find a seat, Xie Rongrong immediately smiled and turned back to Ruan Wu. “Ms. Ruan, what would you like to eat? I can buy it for you with my meal card~”
Ruan Wu smiled. “Thank you, Rong Rong, but there’s no need. Secretary Xia has already bought mine.”
Xie Rongrong: “…” It’s Xia Zhiyu again!
Why is she so hateful and annoying!
I must get rid of Xia Zhiyu and take her place by Sister Ruan Wu’s side.
Fortunately, Ruan Wu didn’t leave immediately after buying her meal but waited for Xie Rongrong to finish ordering before taking her to find Xia Zhiyu.
Xie Rongrong saw Ruan Wu sitting across from Xia Zhiyu and immediately rushed over to sit next to Ruan Wu with her tray.
She gave Xia Zhiyu a challenging look. So what if she came early and reserved a seat? Sister Ruan Wu still wouldn’t sit next to her!
“Ms. Ruan, this dish is good,” Xia Zhiyu said, focused on her food and not paying attention to Xie Rongrong.
Ruan Wu sat down. Xia Zhiyu habitually tasted all the dishes first, then recommended the best ones to Ruan Wu.
