After Becoming an Alpha, I Became a Charmer (GL) - Chapter 35.1
Every Monday was Minister Li’s busiest day, and today was particularly so.
In the past, Minister Li still had time to check his phone, but today he worked non-stop. Not only did he not look at his phone, but his lunch was even brought back by someone else. He hastily ate a few bites and went back to work.
At 9 p.m., finally finishing the day’s work and knowing he wouldn’t have overtime tomorrow, Minister Li sat in his office in a good mood. He took out his phone, wanting to see if there were any sweet moments between Ruan Wu and Xia Zhiyu in the group chat to cheer himself up.
Minister Li leaned back in his chair and leisurely opened WeChat.
He saw that the few group chats he hadn’t looked at all day were overflowing with messages.
Minister Li first went to the group that included Ruan Wu and Xia Zhiyu. Perhaps out of embarrassment, the members seemed to be subtly mentioning that Ruan Wu and Xia Zhiyu were accompanied by a cute Omega girl during lunch today.
Their vague mentioning, combined with their reluctance to ask Xia Zhiyu directly, raised Minister Li’s guard.
Something is off.
The group had been chatting for so long, but Xia Zhiyu hadn’t said anything in the group chat. This was even more suspicious.
Based on past experience, Xia Zhiyu would definitely say a word or two in the group chat. Why was she completely silent today? Is she avoiding the group for fear of being questioned about that Omega girl? Who exactly is that Omega girl?
Minister Li pressed his lips into a thin line and clicked on the original “Xia Zhiyu Complaint Group,” which didn’t include Ruan Wu or Xia Zhiyu.
Although the members had changed their opinion and no longer complained about Xia Zhiyu, they still liked to refer to her as “that fish” in the group.
Minister Li immediately scrolled to the top of the messages.
The start was normal. Only the message from the company receptionist, Yu Xiaoyue, was useful.
YuXiaoyue: Ahhhh, I’m so excited! I just helped escort a guest to the CEO’s office, and that fish actually called me by my name! She remembers my name, and I’m just a lowly receptionist!!!
Xie: I’m so jealous of you. I still haven’t spoken to that fish.
ZhouZhouDoesn’tEatFish: That fish is just that great. She remembers my name too, but I don’t remember ever interacting with her. I didn’t even go on the spring outing because of family matters. But she called me by my name in the cafeteria last Friday.
GuLi: That’s amazing. She knows the names of people she hasn’t even interacted with. Did that fish memorize the profiles of everyone in the company? I need to test her if I get the chance.
JiangMang: Me too.
BurningRose: Hand raised!
Minister Li realized that everyone was focused on Xia Zhiyu remembering their names, not on the sudden guest.
Minister Li made a mental note of this and continued to scan for useful information.
The entire morning was mostly uneventful. Group members only popped in briefly and left. It wasn’t until noon that Minister Li finally saw the information he was looking for.
JiuJiu: Company cafeteria, ladies! It’s that once-a-day welfare time again, where we get to admire the great beauty of Ms. Ruan and that fish!
YouAreKindaSmelly: Coming, coming!
GuJiMaJi: Charge! Charge! Charge!
TheReddestButtCheekInTheMountain: Ladies, I successfully took the same elevator as Ms. Ruan and that fish!
TheReddestButtCheekInTheMountain: But today, Ms. Ruan and that fish seem to be accompanied by a young Omega girl.
YouAreKindaSmelly: Ask who she is!
TheReddestButtCheekInTheMountain: I’m asking, I’m asking.
TheReddestButtCheekInTheMountain: Ah, that young lady is quite proactive. When I asked, she immediately introduced herself. She said her name is Xie Rongrong, and she’s Ms. Ruan’s assistant!
XiaoLu: What??? That fish has been doing so well. Ms. Ruan hasn’t needed an assistant for years. Why does she suddenly have one now?
MoMo: We in HR don’t know anything about this yet. It must be a private connection. She probably hasn’t been registered yet. We’ll know more tomorrow when we see her profile. Maybe she’s Ms. Ruan’s relative or something. A young Omega. Her parents were worried about her working outside, so they entrusted her to Ms. Ruan. (The above is pure speculation)
YouAreKindaSmelly: I think that’s probably close to the truth.
TheReddestButtCheekInTheMountain: They’re eating together. That young lady is sitting right next to Ms. Ruan!
YouAreKindaSmelly: See? She must be Ms. Ruan’s relative!
By the end of the workday, the group brought up the Omega girl again.
YuXiaoyue: Ooh, wow. That fish personally escorted that young lady out of the company and watched her get into a luxurious car before leaving.
YouAreKindaSmelly: She’s definitely Ms. Ruan’s relative, then.
The topic ended there. Everyone lost interest in Ruan Wu’s relative and started discussing other things.
Minister Li exited the group chat, but he felt it wasn’t that simple.
He knew Ruan Wu. She wasn’t the type to keep a relative by her side for mentoring. If she were really Ruan Wu’s relative, Ruan Wu would put her in an entry-level position for experience, not keep her by her side as an assistant.
Then there was only one other possibility: the girl had a significant background, and Ms. Ruan kept her by her side for various reasons. Little did she know she was welcoming a wolf into the house!
Minister Li frowned and sent a private message to the receptionist.
MinisterLi: Xiaoyue, how much do you know about Ms. Ruan’s new assistant?
YuXiaoyue: I only know she came to the company last Friday, just before Ms. Ruan left, saying she needed to see Ms. Ruan. She didn’t have an appointment, so she shouldn’t have been allowed to call Ms. Ruan, but she showed me a picture of her and Ms. Ruan on her phone, so I called Ms. Ruan’s extension. I didn’t expect Ms. Ruan and Secretary Xia to come down and personally escort her upstairs. Today, the girl suddenly started working as Ms. Ruan’s assistant.
YuXiaoyue: Minister Li, is there something wrong with her?
MinisterLi: Nothing is wrong. I was just asking casually.
Minister Li put down his phone and rubbed his tightly furrowed brow. He was now completely certain that the girl was absolutely not Ruan Wu’s relative. Why would Ms. Ruan suddenly keep such a cute, well-off Omega by her side? Doesn’t Ms. Ruan worry that the girl will cling to Secretary Xia?
Minister Li sighed, feeling that his role as a guardian of Ruan Wu’s love life was long and arduous.
He went home, finished dinner, and finally saw Xia Zhiyu reply in the group chat.
Minister Li immediately sent a private message to Xia Zhiyu.
MinisterLi: Secretary Xia!
XiaZhiyu: Minister Li, what’s wrong? Why so excited all of a sudden?
MinisterLi: Nothing, nothing. I just suddenly realized I didn’t look at my phone all day, and Ms. Ruan has a new assistant. Secretary Xia, you’ve been doing so well. Why would Ms. Ruan suddenly add an assistant position?
XiaZhiyu: To be precise, Xie Rongrong isn’t Ms. Ruan’s assistant. She’s my assistant.
MinisterLi: !!!
Ms. Ruan is clueless!!! How could she put an Omega next to Secretary Xia? Isn’t she just setting herself up for a romantic rival?
Since Ruan Wu had spoken to Minister Li and cleared his suspicion, Xia Zhiyu didn’t hide anything from him. Besides, this information wouldn’t be hard for a determined person to find out.
XiaZhiyu: Xie Rongrong is Xie Wuyu’s daughter.
MinisterLi: …Is that the Xie Wuyu I’m thinking of?
Minister Li certainly knew who Xie Wuyu was. The Xie family was a wealthy and powerful family second only to the Ruan family, and Xie Wuyu had a very good relationship with Ruan Wu’s parents.
