After Becoming an Alpha, I Became a Charmer (GL) - Chapter 36
When filling out the form, Xie Rongrong saw that the internship period was only thirty days. She frowned and looked up. “Secretary Xia, I want to intern for three months.”
What can I possibly achieve in just one month? She needed to stay by Ruan Wu’s side for at least three months to leave a sufficiently deep impression on her heart.
Xia Zhiyu was surprised. “But Little Xie, the time Ms. Ruan and your father agreed upon is only one month. Anything longer might not be Ms. Ruan’s decision to make. Of course, if you can convince your father within a month, you might be able to stay and intern longer.”
Xie Rongrong said angrily, “How could my dad do this? He said he wouldn’t interfere with me!”
After finishing the internship paperwork, the first thing Xie Rongrong did when she returned to the secretary’s office was not ask Xia Zhiyu to assign her work but call Xie Wuyu to argue.
Xia Zhiyu tactfully left, allowing her to argue comfortably.
Half an hour later, Xia Zhiyu came to the office to get documents. Xie Rongrong had already hung up, her face dark as she stared at the desk in front of her. Clearly, she failed to convince her father.
Xia Zhiyu had intended to quickly grab the documents and leave without disturbing her. Unexpectedly, just as she opened the door to go out, Xie Rongrong’s gloomy voice suddenly emerged from behind. “Secretary Xia, you still haven’t assigned me work.”
Xia Zhiyu turned around and smiled. “Little Xie, have you finished your personal business?”
She easily shifted the responsibility back to Xie Rongrong. It’s not that I don’t want to assign you work; it’s that you were busy.
Xie Rongrong’s aggressive momentum to assign blame immediately subsided. She stood up and said, “I’m done.”
“That’s good. Now, follow me to the CEO’s office.”
Hearing that she was going to see Ruan Wu, Xie Rongrong’s mood finally improved a little.
The two arrived at the CEO’s office together. Xie Rongrong was surprised that Ruan Wu wasn’t there. “Where’s Ms. Ruan?”
“Ms. Ruan is in a meeting. I’m here to grab some documents for her,” Xia Zhiyu said. She then pulled out a few documents from Ruan Wu’s desk and handed them to Xie Rongrong. “Ms. Ruan has already signed these documents. Please deliver them back to the respective departments. I appreciate your help.” Xia Zhiyu gave her an irresistible smile.
Xie Rongrong was about to get angry after hearing Xia Zhiyu ask her to do such a trivial task. But she was suddenly stunned by Xia Zhiyu’s smile. Before her anger could flare up, Xia Zhiyu had already hurried out of the CEO’s office to deliver documents to Ruan Wu.
“…” Xie Rongrong stared at the documents, feeling that Xia Zhiyu had tricked her.
When she comes back, I’ll definitely complain to Ruan Wu!
After the morning meeting, Xia Zhiyu and Ruan Wu returned to the CEO’s office together. Minister Li ran up to them. “Ms. Ruan.”
Ruan Wu’s sudden refusal to talk to him last night, showing that she didn’t believe his warnings, had nearly kept Minister Li awake all night. Even hearing the news of his promotion and raise during the morning meeting couldn’t cheer him up.
He had to try one more time for Ruan Wu’s happiness.
Ruan Wu didn’t stop walking. “Minister Li, no, Vice President Li, I know what you want to say, but I’ve already made my stance clear to you. So, there’s no need to waste your breath. You’ve just been promoted and have a lot of work to adjust to. You should spend your time on work.”
Vice President Li could only stop, watching Ruan Wu and Xia Zhiyu get on the elevator.
Vice President Li returned to his old office to pack his things. After his promotion, he was given a larger, better office on a floor much closer to the CEO’s office.
Yu Qingyi and others had just heard about his promotion and all came over to congratulate him happily.
Vice President Li forced a smile and thanked them, then went into the inner office to pack.
Yu Qingyi, who had built a deep revolutionary friendship with him during the spring outing, followed him in and asked, “Vice President Li, you don’t seem very happy. Did something happen?”
Vice President Li saw Yu Qingyi and immediately thought of Xie Rongrong. If only Xie Rongrong were as easily discouraged as Yu Qingyi.
“Qingyi, did you hear that Ms. Ruan has a new Omega assistant?”
Yu Qingyi nodded. “I heard. She seems to be Ms. Ruan’s relative.”
“She is not Ms. Ruan’s relative,” Vice President Li said.
“Actually, she isn’t even Ms. Ruan’s assistant.”
“What?” Yu Qingyi was surprised.
“Didn’t she say she was Ms. Ruan’s assistant in the elevator? Ms. Ruan and Secretary Xia were both there, and they didn’t contradict her.”
“Alas, you don’t know,” Vice President Li sighed, putting on a gossipy posture. He first checked that the door was closed, then said to Yu Qingyi, “That Omega’s name is Xie Rongrong. She’s the eldest daughter of the Xie family, the second richest family in A City. She’s also the only Omega child in her family. She came to our company to intern because she admires Ms. Ruan.”
Yu Qingyi still didn’t understand what Vice President Li was worried about. “That’s great, isn’t it?”
“The problem is, Ms. Ruan assigned that Miss to be Secretary Xia’s assistant!”
“Think about Secretary Xia’s charm. An innocent Omega spending every day by her side—how can she not fall for her? If Xie Rongrong falls for Secretary Xia too, and the Ruan and Xie families turn against each other because of it, wouldn’t that turn a good thing into a bad one?”
Yu Qingyi, who had once harbored feelings for Xia Zhiyu, deeply understood this concern. “Indeed. It’s too dangerous for Xie Rongrong to be by Secretary Xia’s side. Why would Ms. Ruan arrange that?” In Yu Qingyi’s eyes, Ruan Wu and Xia Zhiyu were a definite couple. If the person who was ambiguous with Xia Zhiyu hadn’t been Ruan Wu, he wouldn’t have given up so quickly.
“The most urgent task now is to let Xie Rongrong know that Secretary Xia already has an Omega she likes. But Ruan Wu and Secretary Xia’s relationship is a secret, so it’s not convenient to tell her directly. I’m worried sick about this.”
Yu Qingyi looked at the distressed Vice President Li and thought for a moment. “If you can’t say it directly, then use gossip. Let her investigate herself and discover the truth.”
“That’s easier said than done. My work is even busier now than before. I don’t have time to make those arrangements.”
Yu Qingyi said, “Perhaps I can.”
“What?” Vice President Li was stunned. “Qingyi, you’re willing to do this?”
In everyone’s eyes, Yu Qingyi was a cold, god-like figure. Minister Li was just complaining to him because he knew Yu Qingyi was trustworthy. He hadn’t expected Yu Qingyi to have a solution and be willing to execute it himself.
“Actually, ever since I learned about Ms. Ruan and Secretary Xia, I’ve been somewhat… obsessed with their relationship,” Yu Qingyi said shyly. “I really enjoy seeing Ms. Ruan and Secretary Xia together, watching their intimate little gestures. It excites and thrills me. It even makes me want to scream. I looked it up online, and they call this symptom and behavior ‘shipping a couple.’ I’m shipping Ms. Ruan and Secretary Xia’s couple. My couple must not be broken up by anyone.”
Vice President Li’s eyes brightened.
The company’s list of people Ruan Wu is protective of will not increase by one!
Xie Rongrong spent the entire morning running errands assigned by Xia Zhiyu. Although she had the chance to see Ruan Wu, she had to leave immediately and never had a chance to spend time with her. Xie Rongrong wanted to complain, but Ruan Wu was too busy to listen. Xie Rongrong wanted to argue, but Xia Zhiyu was busy, and she would smile at her, making her flustered before leaving every time she tried to speak up.
Xie Rongrong was about to explode from frustration. This internship was completely different from what she had imagined. Not only did she not get to work by Ruan Wu’s side, but she also had to helplessly watch an Alpha follow Ruan Wu everywhere. It was pure torture for her.
It was finally noon. Xie Rongrong thought she could finally eat and chat with Ruan Wu. But Xia Zhiyu said Ruan Wu was too busy today to go to the cafeteria, and she had to stay and help as well. Xia Zhiyu asked her to go buy food and bring it back.
Xie Rongrong stared at the meal card in front of her. She nearly choked on her own blood.
Does Xia Zhiyu even know who she’s talking to? She’s the prestigious Miss Xie, and now she’s been reduced to a lunch lady?
“Secretary Xia, I can’t…”
“Thank you for your hard work, Little Xie. You can buy whatever for Ms. Ruan and me,” Xia Zhiyu said, seeing her hesitation. She immediately put the meal card into Xie Rongrong’s hand. Their fingers accidentally brushed. Xie Rongrong snatched her hand back as if she were burned, the meal card still clenched in her hand.
Xia Zhiyu took her silence as agreement and smiled. “I’ll treat you today. Use my card for everything. Don’t worry about rushing back. You can eat in the cafeteria first before buying our meals. Thank you, Little Xie~”
Xia Zhiyu finished speaking and immediately turned back to the CEO’s office to immerse herself in busy work, leaving Xie Rongrong holding the meal card, her face alternating between red and white.
In the end, Xie Rongrong went to the company cafeteria herself. She couldn’t cause trouble for Ruan Wu when she was busy. At least I can personally deliver the food to Ruan Wu and get a thank you from her.
Xie Rongrong walked into the elevator with a tense expression. People around her curiously observed her. If it were yesterday, she would definitely have chatted with them to let them know her close relationship with Ruan Wu, but she wasn’t in the mood today.
The people around her probably sensed her reluctance to talk. They all played with their phones until they reached the cafeteria.
Xie Rongrong got off the elevator and first bought her own meal. She chose the dishes Xia Zhiyu and Ruan Wu had mentioned yesterday as being delicious.
I want to see how good they actually are.
After buying her meal, Xie Rongrong sat down, took a bite, and found it was indeed better than the food she bought yesterday. She couldn’t help but nod slightly.
“Your food looks great,” a clear, gentle voice suddenly said from across the table.
Xie Rongrong was a voice enthusiast. She instinctively looked up and saw a good-looking male Omega sitting across from her.
“Hello. My name is Yu Qingyi. I’m in the Design Department. I know you. You’re Ms. Ruan’s new assistant, Assistant Xie Rongrong, right?”
Don’t hit a smiling person. Xie Rongrong noticed his nice clothes, which were all designer brands, and his excellent demeanor. She nodded. “Hello.”
“Actually, we have a WeChat group where Ms. Ruan and Secretary Xia aren’t present. Are you interested in joining? It has a lot of company gossip and fun stories.”
Xie Rongrong’s attention was on the first part of his sentence. “I understand why Ms. Ruan isn’t in it, but why isn’t Secretary Xia in it either?”
Yu Qingyi’s smile became a little strange. He chuckled. “Because if Secretary Xia knows what we’re talking about, it means Ms. Ruan knows.”
Xie Rongrong was slightly stunned. She felt there was something off about that statement. But Xia Zhiyu was Ruan Wu’s secretary. It seemed normal for her to report things to her superior.
“And sometimes we discuss gossip about Ms. Ruan and Secretary Xia. There are people from all departments in the group, so someone shares whatever Ms. Ruan and Secretary Xia do in any department. Assistant Xie, are you interested in joining?”
Yu Qingyi threw out a temptation Xie Rongrong couldn’t refuse.
