After Being Taken Home By A Powerful, Possessive Omega - Chapter 3
“There’s one more thing.”
The woman’s warm, mellow voice pulled Ke Qingjue from her thoughts. Without revealing anything, she leaned back lazily and raised her eyes, waiting for Pei Heng to continue.
“Her limbs are severely uncoordinated, and her pheromones are leaking badly. She also seems to have an unusually strong sexual drive.”
A light laugh escaped the frivolous woman beside her, followed by a slightly teasing tone.
“The problem with her limbs is probably because she spent too long lying down without moving… As for her exceptionally strong desire in that area—”
“She just likes you too much.”
“And isn’t that perfect? Now that she’s back, isn’t she returning as the Alpha president of the Pei Corporation?”
Some of the ice in the eyes of the person seated upright on the sofa seemed to melt. Pei Heng nodded solemnly, taking less than a second to accept Ke Qingjue’s claim that Ji Chun simply liked her too much.
She lowered her eyes in thought, considering whether she should move the wedding date forward.
Once they were married, there would be no need to make Ji Chun curl up on that tiny sofa, nor would she have to remain guarded because of the differences between an Alpha and an Omega.
“All right, Madam President. Let her experience more modern things. It may help her brain develop faster. Or you could consider having a wheelchair made for her first.”
The aftereffects of Ji Chun’s awakening were obvious. Apart from the abnormality in 2.2 percent of her emotional regions, her mind did not seem particularly sharp either.
Pei Heng was not surprised. A brain that had gone unused for too long would naturally deteriorate.
She wondered whether she should send Ji Chun to school for a while so she could readjust.
Ji Chun had already turned nineteen before falling unconscious and was therefore a fully competent adult under the law. Consequently, the fact that Ji Chun had called her “Wife” in her current condition would still count once she had completely recovered.
“Mm. I understand.”
Pei Heng nodded in satisfaction. Every gesture she made carried an air of aristocratic elegance. From Ke Qingjue’s perspective, however, she looked more like a thoroughly pleased cat.
Pei Heng took a card from the drawer. Her slender, pale fingers resembled warm jade as she gently placed it between herself and Ke Qingjue.
“Payment for your trouble. You may go home now.”
“You’re not keeping me for dinner?”
Ke Qingjue slipped the card into her bag and swept back her hair, deliberately exposing the full gland at the nape of her neck.
The rose-scented pheromones of a top-tier Omega were like hooks, intentionally and unintentionally curling around Pei Heng’s wrist and leaving traces on the strand of Buddhist prayer beads.
The elegant woman before her raised her amber eyes. Her gaze tightened as she looked at Ke Qingjue, carrying an unmistakable warning.
She could fool around as much as she pleased ordinarily, but if she caused trouble in front of the rightful Alpha, Pei Heng would show no consideration for their past friendship.
Seeing this, Ke Qingjue did not press her luck. Muttering inwardly about what an antique Pei Heng was, she rose and strolled gracefully toward the door.
Pei Heng had been raised by her grandfather since childhood. The old man was rigid and traditional, forcing her to learn the Three Obediences and Four Virtues. He taught her that she must preserve her chastity, that anyone who had sex before marriage should be drowned in a pig cage, and that an unmarried Omega obeyed her father while a married one obeyed her Alpha.
Although Pei Heng had awakened to herself after growing up and sent everyone who had mistreated her or tried to trade her away as a bargaining chip in business straight to prison, remnants of those antiquated beliefs remained within the worldview that had once been twisted into her.
For instance, although Pei Heng had enough admirers to circle the globe three times, she had never had a single bed partner.
Even during Ji Chun’s previous brief awakenings, when Ji Chun had been in heat, Pei Heng had never even used her hand on her.
Because they were not married.
Fortunately, Pei Heng was not prejudiced about secondary gender. She had never believed that a relationship between two Omegas was somehow inferior to one between an Alpha and an Omega.
A dead person could not be surpassed.
But what if the long-lost first love who had died came back to life?
Would that person’s place in Pei Heng’s heart still remain so important?
The villa’s front doors slowly closed. Reflected in the metal surface was a pair of eyes filled with ambition.
Ke Qingjue was determined to have Pei Heng.
She actually was not. There was no romantic storyline between her and President Pei. The main couple’s feelings were mutual from beginning to end.
The villa’s kitchen had prepared two steaks and two plates of pasta.
Pei Heng took two glasses of lemonade from the refrigerator and placed them in the heater. Then she headed upstairs toward her bedroom.
Thin strands of bitterness seeped through the bedroom door, faint but unmistakable.
She unlocked the door.
The pheromones that had been drifting aimlessly through the air instantly gathered together, like an anxious puppy squeezing through the crack beneath the door and rubbing itself against her from head to toe.
The scent of tequila quickly soaked into her.
Pei Heng exhaled slowly and opened the door.
The Alpha who had originally been sitting upright on the small sofa had somehow curled herself into a ball. Clutched in her hand was one of Pei Heng’s freshly washed undergarments, though no one knew where she had found it.
Pei Heng walked over and calmly removed the undergarment from Ji Chun’s arms.
Deprived of what she had been holding, the Alpha grabbed Pei Heng’s finger instead. Her nose wrinkled, and her almond-shaped eyes finally came into focus.
She turned Pei Heng’s wrist over and sniffed lightly at the pale skin. Her nose paused over the Buddhist prayer beads.
An unfamiliar scent of roses.
The intensely bitter tequila fragrance instantly wound itself around Pei Heng’s wrist like a creeping vine, wiping away the already faint trace of rose.
Standing before Ji Chun, Pei Heng merely sighed softly when the bitter pheromones invaded her space.
She used this sofa while reading. It fit her perfectly, but it was clearly far too small for Ji Chun.
The Alpha curled up inside it like a pitiful puppy.
Pei Heng thought that until the custom bed arrived, perhaps she could let Ji Chun share her bed, with each of them using a separate silk quilt.
Downstairs, all the table corners and sharp edges had been wrapped in soft fabric.
Pei Heng patiently guided Ji Chun step by step, letting her brace herself against the wall and inch her way downstairs.
Ji Chun’s stiff limbs creaked as she moved.
Pei Heng stood several steps away, her lips curving with satisfaction when the puppy finally staggered through the last step.
She was quite pleased to see Ji Chun like this.
Those pale eyes held only her and followed only her, as though Pei Heng were the sole support in Ji Chun’s vast world.
A steak rested on a white porcelain plate, with the knife and fork neatly placed beside it.
Ji Chun sat down and first ate the cherry decorating the edge of the plate. Then she wrinkled her nose and stuck out her tongue slightly.
Bitter.
“Mm. It’s only for decoration.”
Reading the faint grievance in Ji Chun’s eyes, Pei Heng explained gently.
Ji Chun nodded and looked at the steak and pasta on the table.
The aroma stirred a faint craving, followed by a wave of hunger, as though she had not eaten in years.
She picked up the fork with one hand. Her fingers were stiff, and the silverware clattered against the tabletop.
Ji Chun’s entire body froze.
She cautiously raised her eyes, but the instant her gaze collided with those amber ones, she quickly looked away, as though she had committed some terrible mistake.
“It’s all right.”
Pei Heng reached over to take the steak from in front of her.
Yet the moment she extended her hand, another slightly rougher hand pressed down on the back of hers.
Small scars crossed the long, sharply defined fingers.
It was difficult to describe someone’s fingers as wild, yet Ji Chun’s hands made the word come naturally to mind.
Pei Heng’s fingertips curled slightly. She withdrew her gaze from Ji Chun’s knuckles.
She was guarding her food.
Mm.
She could mention that to Ke Qingjue next time.
The Alpha had only just awakened. It seemed that the savagery encoded in her genes had suppressed a small portion of her human rationality.
Pei Heng did not know whether she would return to normal later.
A bright, smiling face suddenly surfaced in her memories.
Pei Heng lowered her gaze slightly and concealed her emotions without a trace.
She did not remove her hand. Instead, she forcefully dragged the plate of steak toward herself.
The plate scraped against the tabletop, producing a piercing sound.
The puppy’s pale eyes gradually filled with disbelief and hurt.
Then she withdrew her fingers and sat there, somehow looking as though she were about to cry.
Was one steak really worth getting so upset over?
Pei Heng leisurely began slicing the steak into smaller pieces.
She speared one piece with the fork, placed it in her own mouth, and chewed slowly.
Across from her, the Alpha looked even more aggrieved.
When Pei Heng ate the second piece, a tear suddenly slipped down Ji Chun’s face without warning, only for her to wipe it away at once.
…
Had she been driven to tears by impatience?
Amusement flashed through Pei Heng’s eyes.
At last, the third piece was bitten into the puppy’s mouth.
“Chew it at least ten times before swallowing.”
Using the same utensils she had fed Ji Chun with, Pei Heng put the fourth piece into her own mouth.
They finished both dinners this way, feeding each other.
The unfamiliar sensation of fullness followed.
Pei Heng placed one hand over her slightly rounded stomach and stared blankly for a moment.
She had originally intended to let Ji Chun eat more, since a newly awakened Alpha should have a large appetite.
Unexpectedly, Pei Heng had ended up eating several more pieces than Ji Chun.
Ji Chun clearly was not full.
Her large, round almond-shaped eyes stared at the decorative cherry on the plate. She looked as though she wanted to eat it but was afraid of its bitterness.
Pei Heng’s lips curved.
She went to the refrigerator, took out an enormous Red Delicious apple, and tossed it to the Alpha for her to hold and gnaw on.
A puppy that had not developed proper reason yet could be raised casually.
She could raise her seriously once she matured.
Pei Heng placed the used dishes into the dishwasher.
When she turned around, Ji Chun was holding the apple and staring blankly at the fish in the ornamental pond.
Her curiosity about what Ji Chun intended to do fought against her fear that the Alpha would reach in, scoop out a fish, and eat it.
In the end, she sighed and led Ji Chun away by the hand.
Perhaps she could not raise her too casually after all.
Inside Ji Chun’s head, the system crackled wildly like a machine on the verge of breaking down.
“Have you ever considered finding a colleague to repair you? You’re really noisy like this.”
Ji Chun stumbled through the longest sentence she had spoken so far.
“I’m like this because I don’t have enough energy. Please complete your missions properly, Host. Then I’ll have enough energy to repair myself!”
“You need to give me information.”
Ji Chun thought for a while.
She felt that the system should at least provide her with some information about the identity she had transmigrated into.
At present, she knew nothing.
Being only a kept canary left her unable to do many things.
For example, should she sleep in the bed now, or continue curling up on the tiny sofa?
With her back facing Ji Chun, the woman spread a second quilt across the bed.
Her slender waist, narrow enough to be held in one hand, trembled faintly with each movement, involuntarily evoking thoughts of how soft it might be.
Ji Chun’s attention, which had been drawn toward the system, returned to Pei Heng.
It settled on the soft skin at the back of her neck.
Her breathing gradually tightened.
The scent of tequila filled the room, slowly winding around Pei Heng’s slender waist and lightly teasing it.
A sudden, hurried gasp snapped Ji Chun back to awareness.
The pheromones coiled around the woman’s waist recoiled as though they had been pricked, curling into themselves.
Pei Heng looked back.
A faint mist covered her amber eyes. Her lips were moist, and her face carried a restrained, seductive flush.
She looked completely different from her earlier cold and reserved self.
Ji Chun’s eyes darkened.
She walked forward step by step and wrapped her arms around the soft body before her.
So fragile.
It felt as though the person in her arms could be snapped in half with the slightest pressure.
Ji Chun exhaled softly and rubbed her face against the side of Pei Heng’s neck until the woman’s entire body was covered in her scent.
Pei Heng lifted her swanlike neck slightly.
Her fingers found the hand pressed against her waist and clasped it clumsily.
Then, while Ji Chun was lost in desire, she pried Ji Chun’s fingers away one by one.
Contrary to her deceptively fragile appearance, Pei Heng possessed astonishing strength.
Without the slightest effort, she pushed Ji Chun away.
Then she turned around as though nothing had happened and placed a puppy-shaped pillow beside the dark-colored pillow already on the bed.
It looked completely out of place.
“Big Sister…”
Standing there, Pei Heng lowered her eyes slightly when she saw the puppy’s watery gaze.
She acknowledged her own charm.
Since childhood, enough people had pursued her to circle the globe. There had been no shortage of people like Ji Chun.
Liking her, wanting to mark her, possess her, and have her was nothing unusual.
Pei Heng curved her lips and spoke gently.
“It’s all right. You don’t have to blame yourself.”
She had merely been unable to control her feelings.
Pei Heng could understand.
She had prepared an entire set of puppy-themed single bedding for Ji Chun. She thought it suited the Alpha perfectly.
A puppy with a strong possessive streak, intense desires, and a deep fascination with her.
After finishing the bed, Pei Heng glanced at Ji Chun, whose entire body was saturated with tequila pheromones, and discreetly pursed her lips.
Ji Chun somehow looked dirty to her.
After all, she had picked her up from a national highway, and Ji Chun still had not bathed since returning.
But washing her now would not be entirely safe.
From the moment she came home, Ji Chun had constantly been craving Pei Heng’s body.
After thinking for a while, Pei Heng released her own pheromones and enveloped Ji Chun completely in them. Then she had the Alpha awkwardly remove all her clothes.
“Keep your bra and underwear on.”
Pei Heng glanced at the Alpha, who was preparing to remove the final two pieces, and spoke indifferently.
“You’ll sleep under this puppy quilt. Do you understand?”
Ji Chun parted her lips.
“Can’t we… sleep together?”
“No. Alphas and Omegas must maintain propriety.”
Ji Chun lowered her eyes. Her long, thick lashes cast shadows beneath them.
Pei Heng remained unmoved, even appearing somewhat weary.
According to everything she had been taught since childhood, allowing an Alpha onto her bed before marriage was already highly improper.
If the puppy on the bed dared push for even more, she…
She could still forgive her.
Ji Chun simply liked her too much.
A secret trace of anticipation arose unconsciously in her heart.
Yet the person beside her turned off the light, rolled onto her side, and left Pei Heng with nothing but the back of a fluffy head.
Pei Heng huffed softly from the other side and rolled away with her quilt wrapped around her as well.
Inside her mind, Ji Chun was wailing miserably.
“My benefactor… doesn’t seem to like me.”
The system was silent.
According to the information it had gathered, every transmigrated mission-taker had a long journey ahead of them before they could reach their target’s bed.
Yet this dim-witted Host it had bound had already been cared for in every possible way by her mission target on the very first night.
What exactly was she crying about?
“As an Alpha, you must be strong and take the initiative. Get beneath the target’s quilt and hug her from behind. It works very well!”
“No. I can’t.”
“Then wrap yourself in your quilt and move a little closer to her.”
“I can’t do that either.”
…
“You’re really difficult to deal with,” the system choked out speechlessly.
Ji Chun fell silent.
There were certain things concerning Pei Heng that caused her pain the instant she thought about them.
It felt like a bone that had once been injured. Although the flesh had healed, a fragment had been left behind, hidden deep within.
The pain was faint, but impossible to ignore.
Her mind seemed capable of thinking more deeply, yet something always blocked it.
Eventually, exhausted, she fell asleep.
The scents of sandalwood and tequila blended together, intimate and inseparable, as though they had merged countless times before.
When Ji Chun woke the next morning, the quilt beside her was already empty.
The one covering her had been wrapped tightly around her, with even the corners carefully tucked in.
Her clothes from the previous day were gone.
Perhaps a housekeeper had taken them away, or perhaps Pei Heng had simply thrown them out.
After all, her benefactor was extraordinarily wealthy. She would not care about such a small expense.
With difficulty, Ji Chun used her stiff fingers to put on the brand-new clothes placed beside the bed.
The top was a pale cream-colored cotton sweater made from an exceptionally fine material. It was loose-fitting, yet the shoulder line and sleeve length had been cut with astonishing precision, as though she had been measured countless times.
The trousers were a slightly darker linen color, wide-legged and made from soft, flowing fabric.
They had no buttons, only cotton ties in a matching shade. Every seam that might create pressure had been carefully concealed on the inside.
The outfit fit as though it had been tailor-made for her.
Wearing it, Ji Chun stepped out of the bedroom.
The moment she reached the doorway, she saw a floor-length mirror as tall as a person.
The figure reflected in it had slightly messy hair from going too long without proper care, yet the strands were glossy and clean.
Her pale almond-shaped eyes were completely clear, making her resemble a disheveled puppy.
The overall light-colored outfit softened the pallor of her almost translucent skin, giving her some of the brightness appropriate for someone her age.
Ji Chun’s gaze quickly fell upon the figure holding a book in the lower-left corner of the mirror.
Through the reflection, her eyes followed her.
Pei Heng waved a hand.
The floor-length mirror, which had been deliberately placed there, descended into the floor.
When the puppy lost sight of her, she hurriedly turned around.
Pei Heng wore an ivory knitted cashmere sweater that looked like a matching couple’s outfit with Ji Chun’s.
It fit just as perfectly.
Ji Chun’s gaze unconsciously traveled downward and settled on the small cluster of dark orchids beneath the hem of Pei Heng’s top.
“Let’s eat.”
Pei Heng raised the book to conceal the slight curve of her lips.
Her efforts had not been wasted.
She had begun personally designing these two outfits the previous year and had knitted them stitch by stitch herself.
Ji Chun had noticed.
Not only had she noticed, she even appeared attracted to Pei Heng.
Pei Heng had spent the entire morning carefully styling herself. She had even taken out a financial book she had memorized years ago and reread it page by page.
Breakfast consisted of sandwiches she had personally toasted.
They could be eaten by hand.
Ji Chun was exceptionally serious when facing food. She ate quickly but elegantly, bite by bite.
She even looked a little afraid that Pei Heng might come over and steal some.
Pei Heng withdrew her gaze from Ji Chun.
That morning, she had discussed it with Ke Qingjue.
The moment Ji Chun became willing to share a bite of her food with Pei Heng, it would mean her reason had properly awakened.
Once that happened, they could send her to school to study and teach her how to become a good Alpha, a good wife, and a good mother.
There would still be plenty of time.
Ji Chun had been nineteen when she fell unconscious.
The three years she spent in the restoration pod had been like being frozen in time. Now that she had awakened, she would still be treated as nineteen.
It was the perfect age to attend school.
The Alpha beside her, who had already finished eating, turned around.
Holding a small piece of sandwich she had saved—though it had been bitten into rather messily—she walked over.
“Big Sister, do you want some?”
Ji Chun felt that, as a kept canary, she ought to offer politely.
The piece she had saved contained shrimp and egg. It was the richest, most delicious part from the very center.
But someone as wealthy and powerful as Pei Heng should not actually take food from her…
Under Ji Chun’s gaze, Pei Heng paused slightly.
Then she parted her lips and ate the unattractively bitten piece directly from Ji Chun’s hand.
Her warm lips unintentionally brushed Ji Chun’s fingertip.
The Omega quickly turned away to conceal the redness spreading over her ear.
Only after a long moment did she nod to the completely stunned Ji Chun.
“Mm. Thank you.”
Wait—
What?
Pei Heng actually ate it?
Wasn’t she disgusted by Ji Chun?
The Omega, who had just been feeling somewhat shy, turned away.
Catching Ji Chun’s shocked expression from the corner of her eye, she became satisfied.
As expected, Ji Chun was embarrassed.
She had been reluctant to eat the best part herself and had deliberately saved it for Pei Heng.
In that case, Pei Heng would reluctantly taste it.
Even though it had been bitten into rather messily, she did not mind.
“I had a mobility vehicle custom-made for you.”
The woman elegantly wiped her lips.
Beside her, the Alpha’s eyes brightened slightly.
Custom-made?
A mobility vehicle?
A sports car!
Pei Heng controlled the world’s economic lifelines. It had to be an incredibly cool sports car.
The next second, a wheelchair rolled out from a side room and stopped beside Ji Chun’s feet.
“You’ll use this to follow me to work later. Familiarize yourself with the working environment.”
Pei Heng did not look at Ji Chun. She lowered her eyes and continued processing information on the work screen before her.
Ji Chun pursed her lips and sat in the dazzling wheelchair, which appeared to have been inlaid with gold.
“I-I have to go… to work too?”
“Mm.”
“But I don’t know how to do anything.”
In her previous life, she had fallen ill just after being admitted to university.
In this life, she had inherited none of the original owner’s memories.
At present, she only possessed a little high-school-level knowledge.
“You’ll naturally learn in time.”
Had the accident never happened, Ji Chun would have been Pei Heng’s strongest rival in the struggle for the family fortune.
Pei Heng’s nominal father had always raised Ji Chun as a puppet.
She did not understand why he had wasted so much effort.
She and Ji Chun could simply marry.
Then their future children could inherit the family business, ensuring that not a single portion of it passed into an outsider’s hands.
“For now… practice gripping your hands two hundred times each day. Try to restore your fingers as much as possible.”
As though something had occurred to her, Pei Heng offered the reminder casually.
There were far too many things fingers needed to do.
As for Ji Chun’s arm joints and brain, once the second phase of the restoration pod was complete, Pei Heng could simply have her lie inside it again for treatment.
Ji Chun nodded, looking so obedient it seemed almost unreal.
It would have been perfect if one ignored the pheromones constantly curling around Pei Heng’s waist.
There was still plenty of time before work.
Pei Heng sat gracefully on the sofa reading. Her slender back was perfectly straight, and sunlight fell naturally across her, creating a magnificent scene.
Ji Chun also took a book and sat beside her, imitating her posture seriously.
Pei Heng spared it a glance.
The Complete Handbook for Alpha Canaries.
She withdrew her gaze and unconsciously tapped her fingers against the screen.
Indeed, being a kept canary was a profession that required considerable skill in caring for someone.
She had not expected Ji Chun to begin thinking about how to care for her before she had even recovered.
They already had housekeepers, of course…
Still, a willingness to study was ultimately a good thing and might aid her recovery, so Pei Heng did not interfere.
Another day, she would have Ke Qingjue compile a childcare manual for Ji Chun.
Pei Heng herself did not require care, but she would not feel comfortable entrusting their future children to outsiders.
They would inherit the family fortune one day.
Naturally, they had to be raised properly.
