After Being Taken Home By A Powerful, Possessive Omega - Chapter 6
When Pei Heng woke in the morning, the first thing she saw was an aloof little puppy with her back turned toward her.
She sat up, her lower back sinking into the cushion behind her, a secret soreness still lingering there.
The fabric rubbed against a certain place on her chest. Pleasure mingled with pain, making her draw in a deep breath before kicking the Alpha with her back turned straight off the bed. She lowered her eyes, refusing to look at the other woman’s wounded expression.
She had already told her there was nothing there to eat, yet Ji Chun had kept licking for so long. Pei Heng had no idea what she had even been licking.
It was almost as though she had deliberately wanted to see how disheveled Pei Heng would become.
How scheming.
Some people truly could not change the rotten parts buried in their bones, even after losing their memories.
The person who had been kicked off the bed climbed back up and rested her head against the mattress. Her bright almond-shaped eyes stared at Pei Heng, only dimming slightly when Pei Heng looked away.
The system, which had been silent for days, suddenly crackled inside Ji Chun’s mind before letting out a piercing shriek.
“Host!! What have you been doing these past two days?! Why has your intimacy level with the mission target risen so much?”
“…”
“Nothing happened. She only treats me as a kept canary. Not only does she resist my touch, she also has an unforgettable first love in her heart.”
The system crackled several times, then fell silent again.
It was the only thing she could talk to, yet it was constantly offline.
After leaving the bedroom, Ji Chun saw the outline of a slender figure through the kitchen’s frosted glass.
The Omega’s normally straight back was slightly bent, and one hand occasionally rubbed her lower back.
The moment the scent of tequila pheromones drifted over, the woman’s voice came from the kitchen.
“Go wash the underwear in the laundry room.”
In truth, they had already been soaked through the previous night, but Pei Heng had been too exhausted.
She had covered her gland with one hand to stop the highly stimulating, aggressive tequila pheromones from entering while holding back the soft sighs threatening to spill from between her lips. From time to time, she had also needed to stroke the puppy in her arms and tell her to slow down and be gentler.
In the end, she had nearly used the last of her strength to pry away the head buried against her chest before curling up and falling asleep.
Fortunately, Ji Chun’s character remained decent while her mind was impaired. She had not done anything excessive while Pei Heng slept.
Otherwise, she would not have been allowed breakfast.
Ji Chun entered the laundry room and found the clothes Pei Heng had just changed out of in the laundry basket. Fresh, damp sandalwood pheromones clung to them.
Her fingers had barely hooked around one wet corner when she noticed a black lens from the corner of her eye.
Almost instinctively, she retreated quickly, hiding the clothing behind her. Only after putting half a meter of distance between herself and the device did she see it clearly.
It was a high-definition camera equipped with the latest technology.
The camera turned to follow her movements. A cool female voice slowly came through its speaker.
“No smelling it, no tasting it, and no hiding it away. I’m watching you wash it.”
Ji Chun lowered her eyes.
Her lashes trembled against the light, casting a small shadow over her eyelids.
Obediently, she squeezed out the detergent and gently rubbed the fabric between her fingers. Occasionally, her fingertips unintentionally grazed the small area in the center.
She looked wronged and forlorn.
What a pretentious, manipulative Alpha.
After seeing Ji Chun hang the garments inside the dryer through the camera, Pei Heng turned off her phone and sat waiting in a chair.
Ji Chun was still dressed in a fluffy puppy onesie. She shuffled over slowly, and her eyes lit up the moment they passed over the food in front of her.
She sat down at the table and picked up the sandwich.
Looking at the empty plate before Pei Heng, she thought carefully for a while before finally holding her breakfast to Pei Heng’s lips and offering her the first bite.
Pei Heng had cooked herself a steak. She had only made a sandwich for Ji Chun because the woman could not use a fork properly.
She had not expected someone who guarded her food the very first day she returned home to voluntarily offer her the first bite.
Pei Heng parted her lips and took a small bite, eating only a little of the crust.
Ji Chun then bit into the sandwich herself, exposing the whole shrimp inside before offering it to Pei Heng again.
The woman looked at the sandwich, which had been bitten into even more messily than last time, and pursed her lips before taking another bite with obvious distaste.
This Alpha did not even know how to make food look presentable before feeding it to her Omega.
Pei Heng had already eaten her fill, but faced with the puppy constantly staring at her with sparkling eyes, she somehow ended up sharing the entire breakfast with her.
After sending the driver a message asking her to bring over a packet of digestive tablets, Pei Heng led Ji Chun into the dressing room.
The dressing room was enormous.
Most of it was filled with designer and luxury clothing. Some had been gifts from brands and still had their tags attached.
A smaller, separate section of wardrobes contained all kinds of matching couple outfits.
Pei Heng took out a rose-colored suit from that section and held it up against Ji Chun. After nodding in satisfaction, she picked up the matching dress beside it.
The two outfits were laid neatly across the warm-lit blanket on the living room sofa.
On the left was Ji Chun’s women’s suit.
Its color was not a garish pink, but a pale rose gold like the first ray of dawn soaking through the clouds before sunrise. The fabric was an expensive blend of wool and silk, with an exceptionally delicate texture.
On the right was Pei Heng’s long dress.
It belonged to the same rose-gold palette, though its saturation was lower, closer to faded dried rose petals. It was quiet and carried the texture of passing years.
The dress was a simple, long slip design. Its lines flowed downward like a waterfall, made from heavy silk crepe with an excellent drape and a subtle texture resembling the grain of skin.
There were no unnecessary decorations. Only one shoulder strap carried a minimalist vine motif embroidered in nearly matching thread, echoing the hidden pattern inside Ji Chun’s suit lining.
“I had someone speak to the family. They’re very satisfied with you. Put on the clothes. We’re going to register our marriage.”
Pei Heng lifted her dress and walked gracefully toward the dressing room.
It seemed she had laid the outfits there for those few moments solely to let Ji Chun admire how perfectly matched and special they were.
Ji Chun stared.
Register their marriage?
Wasn’t she a kept canary?
Did kept canaries also register marriages with their benefactors?
A powerful unease seeped from her bones like corrosive acid, slowly spreading outward and carrying a hidden pain through her internal organs.
Her fingers clenched the fine fabric until an ugly crease appeared across it.
Only then did she snap out of her daze and hurriedly smooth it flat as though trying to make amends.
The suit still fit as though it had been tailored specifically for her. It cinched perfectly at the waist, making her appear tall and straight.
Some of the gentleness vanished from her pale almond-shaped eyes. Standing alone without expression, the moment the light fell behind her, she seemed buried in darkness.
Then Pei Heng emerged from the room in the rose-colored dress.
Ji Chun’s pale pupils suddenly focused and followed her at once.
Pei Heng ordinarily preferred darker clothing. It was rare to see such a bright color on her.
Unexpectedly, the dress suited her perfectly.
Her already snow-white skin, set against the rose color, resembled a mound of fresh snow surrounded by an endless sea of flowers.
The lines of the dress gathered around her waist, which seemed narrow enough to circle with one hand.
Soft.
Tempting.
The tequila fragrance in the air began faintly winding toward her again.
Under Ji Chun’s nearly entranced stare, Pei Heng curved her lips, walked over, and hooked one finger through the dog tag around her neck.
Then she pressed a button.
The tag tightened, securely suppressing the scent escaping from Ji Chun’s gland.
It was one thing to release her pheromones carelessly at home.
Outside, especially somewhere like the Civil Affairs Bureau where many Alphas and Omegas would be present, she needed to behave and guard herself properly.
An Alpha had to maintain her virtue.
The car was already waiting downstairs.
Pei Heng accepted the digestive tablets from the driver and swallowed two.
When getting dressed earlier, she had almost been unable to fasten the dress around her waist.
It should improve once she had digested the food.
“Do you know how marriage registration works?”
Ji Chun shook her head, then nodded.
“I’ve… seen it on television. This is my first time getting married.”
“Of course it is.”
Had there been a previous time, Ji Chun would not be sitting there alive.
Pei Heng would have chopped her into pieces and thrown her into the sea for the fish.
“It’s my first time too.”
The woman lowered her eyes, concealing the darkness that flashed through them. Her smile was lazy and seductive.
“So you must treat me well from now on.”
The puppy nodded firmly.
“I will.”
Because they had made an appointment, the entire process moved quickly.
During the photograph, Ji Chun stared directly at the woman beside her. Her pale almond-shaped eyes were filled with absolute trust.
It looked like a young animal depending on its mother.
The staff member studied the photograph and felt something was strange.
What newlywed looked at her partner that way?
She showed the photograph to Pei Heng and was about to ask whether they wanted to take another.
The woman suddenly laughed softly, her voice warm and mellow.
“We’ll use this one.”
Pei Heng did not care whether Ji Chun saw her as a lover or a mother, especially now, when the woman had not yet regained her full mind.
She only wanted this person firmly trapped beside her while she was alive.
Even after death, Pei Heng’s name would be carved onto her gravestone.
She wanted their souls to merge until they bled, new flesh growing over old wounds and binding them together.
To live and die together.
To remain entangled for all eternity.
The staff member nodded.
A few minutes later, two red booklets were stamped and handed to them.
“Congratulations, President Pei. Congratulations, Madam. Happy marriage.”
Ji Chun held the warm booklet in her hands and stared at it blankly.
“Happy… marriage.”
The feeling was unfamiliar.
It was as though she had glimpsed something she was not meant to see, or stolen something unstable.
Her heart felt sour and uneasy, like gripping the thorns on a rose’s stem after plucking the flower.
Painful, yet satisfying.
She raised her eyes.
Before the corner of her mouth could lift, she watched Pei Heng casually hand the glaring red booklet to her assistant, pick up her bag, and walk toward the exit.
“To the prison.”
Ji Chun lowered her gaze.
She hurried over, took the marriage certificate back from the assistant, stuffed both booklets into her own pocket, then crossed in front of Pei Heng and climbed into the car.
Her steps were stiff.
Seen from behind, she resembled an angry penguin.
Pei Heng withdrew her gaze and entered from the other side.
For the first time, the two of them sat so far apart.
Ji Chun curled into the corner beside the car door, gripping the two brand-new marriage certificates while looking through the window.
Who cared about her?
She was merely a freeloading Alpha who became angry because Pei Heng had casually handed away their marriage certificate.
It was not as though Pei Heng did not want it.
Pei Heng also sat stiffly, watching the scenery move backward outside the window.
After only a few minutes, she turned slightly and looked from the corner of her eye at the thin, pale figure.
She had certainly grown bold.
So much time had passed, yet Ji Chun had not come looking for her.
What a delicate little thing.
Ji Chun gripped the two certificates and stared blankly at the vehicles outside.
In the distance, helicopters waited at a red light overhead.
Was technology really this advanced now?
While she stared in fascination, a warm body pressed against her back.
Sandalwood pheromones enveloped her completely, and a soft sigh sounded beside her ear.
“Delicate little thing. Why do you become angry so easily?”
“I only asked someone else to keep it safe. It wasn’t that I didn’t want it. Are you planning to hold it the entire time?”
“You don’t even have pockets.”
Ji Chun turned back.
Only then did she remember that she was angry.
“This is very important.”
It was important.
Among all the doubts and uncertainty, this was the only thing proving that they shared an irreplaceable connection.
Pei Heng took one of the red booklets from Ji Chun’s hands.
Under Ji Chun’s clear, confused gaze, she slowly slipped it inside the soft whiteness beneath her undergarment and smoothed it down until no outline remained.
“How about now? Are you satisfied?”
The Alpha’s barely visible Adam’s apple moved.
Her fingers curled, as though for an instant they had touched that softness.
In the end, she lowered her eyes and nodded.
“I’m satisfied.”
In truth, she was not.
It would have been better if she could go inside instead.
The marriage certificate was cold.
She was warm.
“Then what are we… doing now?”
“Why are we going to prison… after getting married?”
Ji Chun stumbled over her words. Pei Heng listened for a while before understanding what she meant.
“We’re going to… meet the family.”
Because they had made an appointment, someone was already waiting outside the prison early that morning.
The instant they saw Pei Heng, their faces filled with smiles as they bent forward respectfully.
“President Pei, please, allow me to lead the way.”
“President Pei truly is filial. Even after everything your father did, you still insist on visiting him every year.”
Pei Heng sighed softly, her face carrying exactly the right amount of sadness.
“It is only proper. He is my father, after all.”
“I was just married, so I brought my family member to meet him.”
Pei Heng had an excellent public reputation.
She was always seen as a young, capable, beautiful, and approachable person in power.
Now she had suddenly appeared with an Alpha.
The escorts exchanged glances, but none dared say anything beyond offering smiling congratulations.
They led them to a cell.
The escort remained outside and closed the soundproof door behind them.
The man inside had messy hair that had not been cut in a long time.
A filthy odor clung to his entire body.
His murky eyes moved.
They passed over Pei Heng without interest, but when they landed on Ji Chun, they widened slightly.
The next instant, his face twisted in fury.
He lunged forward and gripped the bars with both hands.
“Ji Chun! Xiao Chun, why are you here? How can you stay beside the woman who ruined your father?”
Ji Chun stepped back, avoiding the hand reaching toward her.
Pei Heng moved forward, took the marriage certificate from Ji Chun, and opened it directly before the man’s bloodshot eyes.
“I’m terribly sorry, Pei Shan. We’re married.”
The man’s gaze dimmed for an instant.
He stared blankly at Ji Chun’s face.
Only after a long while did he mutter and force out a strange laugh from his throat.
“Xiao Chun, why don’t you go die?”
His voice was soft, sticky, and sinister, like a poisonous snake crawling from a swamp and winding upward.
“If you stay beside her, one day she’ll torment you until you’re neither human nor ghost, just like me…”
“Go die. Die!”
The man violently shook the bars of the cage.
Pei Heng stood there and watched him calmly, as though admiring a flawless creation.
“Die?”
“Pei Shan, look at the Alpha you once gambled your life on. Do you regret rescuing her from that den of scum?”
“Of course, perhaps you don’t know that she has already died once.”
“This time, whether I love her or not, whether I need her or not, she will remain beside me.”
“While she lives, she belongs with me.”
“Even after death, she will rot in my arms.”
In the dim cell, flames seemed to consume the surrounding stench of decay.
In Ji Chun’s vision, the woman’s features were exquisitely defined, her face illuminated by firelight and calm to the point of cruelty.
Yet for no apparent reason, Ji Chun’s heart began beating faster with obsessive intensity.
She wanted to kiss her.
Right here.
Pei Heng had said that even in death, Ji Chun would die in her arms.
She loved her so much.
In the other corner of the room, the man’s eyes bulged as the life gradually faded from them.
Only after witnessing her biological father’s death did Pei Heng turn around and meet the puppy’s desire-filled gaze directly.
Her red lips parted.
“Pervert.”
