After Divorcing My Omega Ex-Wife - Chapter 1
“Whoosh—”
The curtains of the VIP ward were pulled open, and dazzling sunlight shot into the room.
Shi Yun rolled her shoulders a couple of times. After staying in the hospital for over a month, even her bones felt stiff.
A month ago, she had gotten into a minor car accident while she was out—the kind that even passersby would only stop to watch for five minutes.
Speaking of which, she really had been unlucky.
In order to avoid a baby stroller that had suddenly darted out, she stepped backward, tripped over the curb, and knocked her head against a roadside trash can.
After the world spun around her, she fell heavily to the ground.
In the second before she closed her eyes, many thoughts ran through her mind.
What was that big-eared dog that suddenly rushed out? Why was someone walking a dog without a leash? My head hurts so much! Does this count as a car accident?
“Ding.”
The phone on her bedside table lit up.
[When are you coming down?]
Shi Yun glanced at it. It was a message from Chen Su.
She walked around the ward once, making sure she had not left anything behind, then raised her hand and replied.
[Soon.]
[OK. I reserved a spot at Wildfire. We’re celebrating your rebirth.]
After finishing the discharge procedures, Shi Yun dragged her suitcase to the hospital entrance. Only then did she remember that she had forgotten to ask which car Chen Su had driven today.
Walking out of the hospital gates, Shi Yun took a deep breath of air. Was this the taste of freedom?
So fresh.
She had just been about to open her phone and ask Chen Su when, out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of something glaringly eye-catching. She looked up and saw a strawberry-red Panamera parked across the street.
Now there was no need to ask.
Not many people were willing to drive a car like that around the city. Chen Su was one of them.
Not to mention in such a flashy color.
After crossing the road, Shi Yun walked over to the driver’s side and knocked on the window.
The window slowly rolled down. Chen Su had long since prepared her pose, half-taking off her sunglasses. “Beautiful lady, need a ride?”
Shi Yun rolled her eyes, left behind the words, “Who else is coming today?” and went around to the trunk. She neatly shoved her suitcase inside.
She opened the car door, slammed it shut, and plopped herself into the passenger seat.
“Hey, hey, be gentle! I just picked up this new car!” Chen Su glanced at the door in distress and shot Shi Yun a fierce glare.
“Come on. As if Miss Chen would ever be short of money.”
The car started. Chen Su fell silent for half a second. “My thing with Lu Yi… we couldn’t hide it. My mom cut off my allowance.”
The car instantly fell quiet, leaving only the noise outside.
Shi Yun pursed her lips, wanting to ease the atmosphere. Before she could say any comforting words, Chen Su stepped on the gas and merged into the lane, speaking first. “What are you going to do about you and Xie Qingyun?”
Shi Yun choked.
The most melodramatic part of her accident was the amnesia.
She remembered everyone—except Xie Qingyun.
According to Chen Su, she and Xie Qingyun had been married for a year, and Shi Yun had chased after Xie Qingyun as if possessed. Xie Qingyun found her annoying and disliked her, yet Shi Yun still kept throwing herself at her.
That was too terrifying. Had the person who lost all reason really been her? Why had no one found someone to take a look at her?
At the thought of this, Shi Yun shook her head and shivered. After composing herself, she spoke again. “What else can I do? I’ll just treat her like a friend.” She paused for half a second and looked out the window. “Anyway, I don’t have those kinds of feelings for her now. After some time passes, I’ll see whether we can get a divorce.”
“Then how will you two get through your heat periods?”
Chen Su asked very bluntly. Shi Yun thought of the faint sweet peach scent on the blanket that had been brought over a few days ago when the housekeeper from Xie Qingyun’s home delivered soup. In a muffled voice, she said, “She said there are suppressants at home. Besides, the two of us have never done that kind of thing.”
Although Shi Yun had lost her memory, she was still clear on whether she had ever marked Xie Qingyun.
Not even a temporary mark had ever happened.
By the time they arrived at Wildfire, it was almost evening.
This was a bar Chen Su had invested in years ago. It operated by reservation, and at the moment, it had not yet opened for business.
When it was renovated, privacy had been taken into consideration, so a private room had been specially set up on the second floor for their gatherings.
The two entered the private room and stood before the one-way glass, looking down at the booths on the first floor. Standing beside Chen Su, Shi Yun lifted her chin toward the bar counter. “I want that most expensive bottle.”
Chen Su rolled her eyes at her. “Dream on.”
“When you throw your divorce certificate in my face one day, I’ll treat you to it.”
“Really?”
“When have I ever lied to you? It’s just that, judging by the way you were before, I don’t believe you’d be willing to divorce Xie Qingyun.”
Shi Yun wanted to defend herself. She opened her mouth, but when she thought of how she had been before, she really had no persuasive argument. So she threw down a ruthless line instead. “Just wait to drink that wine!”
“Ding—”
The phone on the table lit up, and a notification popped up saying that a flight was about to take off.
Shi Yun glanced at it, took a small sip of the lemon water in her glass, then turned and asked, “When are they coming?”
Chen Su froze for a moment. “We agreed on nine. I just asked, and they’re all on the way now.”
Shi Yun waved her hand to show that she understood, then sat down on the long sofa. Today, she was wearing a black halter-neck dress with a high slit. Her legs were crossed, revealing her smooth thighs as she started fiddling with her phone.
She opened her social media apps one by one. They were all just entertainment industry news, more or less the same. She was just about to swipe up and close the app when she saw a notification from a special follow.
It was an airport departure photo posted by Xie Qingyun’s fansite account, probably one she had followed before losing her memory.
The photo had been taken from far away, so only a blurry figure could be seen. It was raining in Beicheng. Xie Qingyun was hidden beneath a black umbrella and was also wearing a black dress, but its style was completely different from Shi Yun’s.
It was a tight black long dress that wrapped around her waist. A shawl hung loosely over both sides of her arms, and the tassels swayed with her steps. Her long, wavy hair fell down her back.
Mature and distant.
Those were the only words Shi Yun could think of.
She set the glass down on the marble table.
Uncrossing her legs, she stood up and waved her phone at Chen Su across from her. “I’m heading back first.”
“Hey! What’s with you? They’re not even here yet! Today is supposed to be a celebration of your rebirth.”
Shi Yun pointed at her head. “I’m tired. The DJ downstairs is so noisy it’s giving me a headache.”
By business hours, people had already started entering the bar one after another.
Chen Su pouted, somewhat speechless. “You weren’t like this before! Forget it, I’ll have someone send you.”
Shi Yun did not refuse. She thanked her and said, “Send me to Heyuan, then.”
When she reached the door, she turned back again. “Put today’s bill on my tab.”
/
Heyuan was a villa complex located by the riverside. It was within walking distance of the city center, quiet despite being in a bustling area, and was a well-known wealthy district locally. Back then, they had bought the place because it was convenient.
This was the marital home the two of them had jointly purchased after getting married, and Shi Yun had always been the one living there. Xie Qingyun rarely came over. Because of work, she usually stayed in hotels long-term.
When Shi Yun got home, she tossed down her bag and collapsed onto the sofa.
She turned on the television, randomly played an old movie, and turned the volume to the maximum. Then she told the smart home system to turn off the main lights, leaving only the warm-toned floor lamp at the side.
When she was home alone, she liked doing this. It gave the empty villa a little trace of life.
She went into the walk-in closet, picked out a set of pajamas, and entered the bathroom. The steaming hot water washed away the fatigue of the past few days. The days in the hospital had not been pleasant. Her movement had been restricted, and only Chen Su had come to keep her company. For someone like her, who loved liveliness, it had been like being in prison.
Xie Qingyun had come once too, but she had only stood at the door of the ward for a while.
Shi Yun’s hair had not dried yet, and water was dripping down from it. In the end, she simply walked out of the bathroom in her bathrobe.
The moment she pushed open the door, a strong wave of pheromones rushed into her nose.
The scent was both unfamiliar and familiar. She sniffed, carefully taking in the smell, and suddenly remembered the faint sweet peach scent on Xie Qingyun when she had come to visit some time ago.
With such intense pheromones, Shi Yun quickly realized that Xie Qingyun had arrived—and that she was in heat.
She looked around. The warm light illuminated most of the living room, but some shadowed corners remained.
Looking again, she still could not see Xie Qingyun. Only the faint blue glow from the electronic screen shone in the room.
Shi Yun anxiously pinched the space between her brows. For an omega, a heat period was no small matter.
“Crash!”
A crisp sound of shattering glass came from the foyer.
Shi Yun quickly walked to the entrance garden and turned on the light. A scene of startling impact unfolded before her eyes.
A black suitcase had been thrown to the side. A vase had been knocked over on the ground, with flowers and broken shards scattered everywhere.
And Xie Qingyun was lying right in the middle of it all.
There were traces of cuts on her arm. Drops of blood slid down, mixing with water and diluting as they spread.
Shi Yun even forgot to breathe. Flustered, she crouched down and gently tugged at Xie Qingyun’s hand.
Seeing that the person still reacted, she did not hesitate at all and decisively picked her up.
Once again, the sweet peach scent grew even stronger, drilling through her nasal cavity and into her head. Shi Yun shook her head, suppressing her desire for the omega.
Xie Qingyun was very thin. Even through the thick shawl at this moment, Shi Yun could still feel the sharpness of her shoulder blades pressing against her hands.
Shi Yun carried her to the sofa. Just as she was about to put her down, Xie Qingyun began twisting uneasily. Shi Yun lost her balance, and the two of them fell onto the fabric sofa together.
Shi Yun instinctively raised a hand and braced it against the backrest. The velvet fabric was soft and slightly cool to the touch, but soon, heat seeped through her palm in waves.
She lowered her head and saw that Xie Qingyun’s cheeks were flushed an abnormal red. Shi Yun immediately stood up, cleared her throat, and raised a hand to touch her forehead. The scalding heat made her let go at once.
Shi Yun had never experienced an omega’s heat period. Xie Qingyun did not often live here, so there was no habit of keeping suppressants prepared. At this moment, she was completely at a loss and hurriedly contacted the family doctor.
She grabbed Xie Qingyun’s hand again, then seemed to remember something and let go.
Just as she stood up, she felt a force tugging at her.
On the sofa, Xie Qingyun half-opened her eyes. Her gaze was dazed, but her hand held Shi Yun tightly. “Don’t go.”
The warmth of their palms kept overlapping. Shi Yun’s heart felt as if it had been tugged too. She crouched down halfway again and smiled at the person on the sofa. “I’m not leaving. I’ll stay right here with you. I’m just going to get a bottle of ice water to cool you down, okay?”
Xie Qingyun pouted slightly, her brows furrowing in grievance. “Then you have to come back right away.”
Shi Yun lightly patted the back of Xie Qingyun’s hand to soothe her and responded in the tone one would use to coax a child.
Opening the refrigerator door, Shi Yun turned back to check Xie Qingyun’s condition. She was lying there obediently, as if nothing had happened just now.
The ice water touched her skin, as if it was cooling Shi Yun down as well.
She shook her head, throwing away those strange thoughts, and walked back to Xie Qingyun’s side.
Under the light, Xie Qingyun’s fluttering lashes cast shadows on her face. From time to time, she bit her lip in pain. When she sensed Shi Yun’s gaze, she turned her face to the side.
It was almost the end of September, but the summer heat had not yet faded. Shi Yun lowered the air-conditioning temperature a little more.
The ice water was placed against Xie Qingyun’s cheek. Relying on instinct, she leaned toward the coolness. Her burning heat eased for a brief moment, but soon another wave of scorching heat surged up again.
In her tossing and turning, the hem of her long dress had already ridden up, revealing her fair, delicate calves pressed together.
Shi Yun glanced at the clock on the wall and sighed. She took out her phone, preparing to call the family doctor again.
“Mm~”
A soft moan stole away her chance to make the call. Helpless, she could only release her own pheromones first to comfort her.
As the scent of green sandalwood spread through the room, Xie Qingyun’s tightly furrowed brows eased a little.
Xie Qingyun gained a brief moment of clarity and half-propped herself up. Seeing this, Shi Yun hurried forward to support her.
The skin where the two of them touched sent a wave of heat through them. Xie Qingyun’s eyes grew dazed once more. She paused for two seconds, as if having made up her mind, then took the initiative to climb up around Shi Yun’s neck, hooking both hands together behind it.
Their breaths intertwined. It was so quiet that they could hear each other’s panting. The pleasant sweet peach scent surged over again, mixing with the scent of green sandalwood, making Shi Yun’s face heat up.
“Help me.”
