After Divorcing My Omega Ex-Wife - Chapter 3
Warm breath spilled over her cheek. Her ear was burning, and a strange itch spread soundlessly.
The kiss she thought would happen never fell. Time seemed to freeze. Hope and nervousness echoed in Shi Yun’s heart, and she unconsciously bit her lower lip.
The warmth of the first ray of sunlight falling over her body overlapped with the heat of Xie Qingyun leaning close. It lasted so long that Shi Yun felt as if hundreds of millions of years had passed.
Shi Yun opened her eyes, her pupils shrinking slightly. Xie Qingyun’s enlarged face was right before her.
Xie Qingyun took half a step back. Her right hand held Shi Yun’s jaw, and her fingertips brushed over her lips, rubbing back and forth. They grazed the peeling corner of her mouth before Xie Qingyun finally leaned close to Shi Yun’s ear.
“Ah-Yun, do you really feel nothing for me anymore?”
A trace of confusion flashed through Shi Yun’s eyes. Half a second later, she immediately came back to herself and shoved Xie Qingyun’s shoulder.
She had been played by Xie Qingyun.
She lowered her head and gave a cold laugh, returning once more to the cold-hearted, unfeeling demeanor of the Shi family’s eldest daughter.
What did desire prove, anyway?
If she, Shi Yun, truly wanted someone, who knew how many omegas would throw themselves at her?
Shi Yun wiped the place Xie Qingyun had just touched. She used so much force that a patch of red appeared there. “Miss Xie, aren’t you thinking a little too highly of yourself?”
Shi Yun gave a soft sneer. “No one would refuse an omega who throws herself at them.”
“Especially—
when the other party is a big celebrity.”
Xie Qingyun felt a kind of humiliation.
This was a Shi Yun she had never encountered before: sharp-edged, fully exposed, unwilling to give anyone a pleasant expression.
Her brows furrowed slightly. She stopped speaking and instead looked somewhat hurt. After a second, she curved her lips again and smiled at Shi Yun.
“If you accept me, then of course I can.”
After throwing out that harsh remark, Shi Yun did not feel any satisfaction. Seeing Xie Qingyun like this only made her feel irritated.
Xie Qingyun had clearly been the one who came to provoke her, so who was she putting on this wounded act for now?
And what did she mean, “If you accept me, I can”? It was not as if this was back when Shi Yun used to like someone else.
She really was an actress.
Shi Yun said, “No need. I don’t like your type.”
Xie Qingyun composed herself. “Ah-Yun, I like you. I can wait.”
Without waiting for Shi Yun to answer, Xie Qingyun picked up the bowl and walked toward the kitchen. “Thank you. I have to go to the company today. I’ll come back later.”
Why are you reporting your work schedule to me? What does it matter whether you come back or not?
Shi Yun had just been about to speak when Xie Qingyun realized what she was going to say and immediately interrupted her. “This house has my name on it too, doesn’t it?”
Shi Yun was stumped. “Fine. Live here if you want.”
After Xie Qingyun left Heyuan, the driver was already waiting at the entrance.
“Take me to the company.”
The celebrity van drove smoothly. Thinking back to what had just happened, Xie Qingyun pinched the bridge of her nose.
The words Shi Yun was saying now were not even one ten-thousandth of what Xie Qingyun had once said to her.
She laughed self-mockingly. Looking at it now, she deserved this.
After the van came to a steady stop in the underground parking lot, Xie Qingyun put on sunglasses, a baseball cap, and a mask. She even took out a mirror to check herself carefully before finally opening the car door.
There were people staking out their company’s parking garage all year round. She was not in good condition and did not want anyone to notice.
Her manager was already standing beside the car. Seeing her come out, she quickly went up to meet her.
The moment Xie Qingyun stepped onto the ground, her legs went weak. She staggered twice and nearly fell sitting onto the floor.
She instinctively held onto the person beside her. Her manager reacted quickly, reaching out to catch and support her.
Both of them were startled. Her manager was the loud, dramatic type and immediately blurted out, “Aiyo, my dear ancestor. When I got Dr. He’s call this morning, I was so scared I practically launched myself out of bed. I came straight to the company without even washing my face. With you in this condition, why did you come? What would it matter if Xiao Cui and I ran over to deliver the scripts to you?”
Her manager’s name was Qian Can. She was the one who had brought Xie Qingyun into the industry. Back then, Qian Can had already been somewhat famous as a manager, yet out of so many people, she had chosen Xie Qingyun.
In her early years, Xie Qingyun had been very difficult to get along with. She had a kind of forced aloofness that came from not being properly socialized, and many people were not optimistic about her. The two of them had worked together for ten years, and their relationship was now closer to sisters.
Only Qian Can had been certain that Xie Qingyun could make money for her.
And later, Xie Qingyun had not disappointed her.
Except—
when it came to Shi Yun.
Qian Can had already earned enough money and was preparing to slowly withdraw from the industry and retire. Xie Qingyun respected her decision and supported her enjoying life. Yesterday’s event had been handled by the newly arrived assistant. Xie Qingyun had not wanted to trouble anyone, especially not with something as private as a heat period.
All night, she had only one thought: she wanted to go home.
So she endured it all the way. She endured until she reached Heyuan, until she smelled the reassuring scent of green sandalwood.
Xie Qingyun said, “I already read the character biographies in advance. I happen to have some thoughts I want to discuss with everyone.”
Qian Can knew she had always had many ideas, so she pressed the elevator button. “Fine. It’s still early right now, and a few of them haven’t arrived yet. Go sit in your office for a while first.”
After arriving at the floor where Zhongxing Entertainment was located, the two separated. Qian Can went off to handle other work first.
Xie Qingyun went to her own office. She did not come here often, and she disliked other people touching her things even more. A thin layer of dust had accumulated on the desktop.
She opened the window, wiped the desk clean with wet wipes, then sat on the sofa and took a long while to recover. She breathed in small, shallow gasps, and a cold sweat had broken out on her back.
The chain reaction caused by the suppressant was becoming a little too much for her to handle. Over the years, she had worked very hard when filming. She never used a stunt double for fight scenes or water scenes. When she was younger, she had not felt it, but as she got older, small problems always started appearing in her body. Not to mention, she had been taking suppressants for years. No matter how healthy a body was, it could not withstand that forever.
She glanced at the time. It was still early.
She had originally wanted to open a little game to pass the time, but her finger unconsciously tapped open the monitoring app instead.
Half a year ago, the cat Chen Su raised had been temporarily fostered at their home, and Shi Yun had installed the camera to check on the cat’s condition. At that time, Xie Qingyun and Shi Yun’s relationship had already eased somewhat, and she would also help take care of the cat, so she had downloaded the monitoring app too.
After the cat was returned to Chen Su, Shi Yun had not removed the camera, so it had remained there ever since.
As if possessed, Xie Qingyun dragged the surveillance footage back to last night.
She only remembered politely refusing Xiao Cui’s help to send her inside. She had staggered home, opened the password lock from memory, and then fallen into a stretch of gray darkness.
When she woke up again, she was on the sofa, and Shi Yun was pacing beside her.
A huge joy had wrapped around her. Then her body had been swallowed by a tide of desire. Her longing had overwhelmed her reason, and everything afterward had been driven by what was in her heart.
When she grabbed Shi Yun’s hand and was not refused, she became even bolder.
She had thought Shi Yun was also sinking into it.
As long as everything went smoothly, everything would naturally fall into place, and she would be able to win Shi Yun back.
Until she was pushed away.
In that instant, she remembered everything she had done to Shi Yun before. She had once treated Shi Yun so terribly.
Xie Qingyun had thought that since Shi Yun had lost her memory, she would also forget all those awful things along with it. But the rejection from Shi Yun’s body left her unable to face it.
But luckily, as long as Shi Yun had forgotten those bad memories, she still had a chance.
She would never give up.
Because the surroundings were too dark, the surveillance footage was not clear. Shi Yun came out of the bathroom with her hair still dripping wet. Drops of water slid down her skin and disappeared into the depths of her clothes, leaving a damp patch across her chest.
The belt of her bathrobe was loosely tied, and her underwear was faintly visible.
Xie Qingyun swallowed and licked her dry lips.
Her body began heating up again. Today, she was wearing a pale blue shirt, with the cuffs rolled up to her forearms. Unnecessarily, she had fastened cufflinks to them.
They were a gift from Shi Yun on her birthday.
When she watched further, she saw Shi Yun carry her to the sofa. The instant Shi Yun lost her balance, a flash of exposed chest appeared.
Xie Qingyun felt a wave of dampness in her body, slightly sticky.
Her cheeks flushed.
Just as she was about to keep watching, her hand unconsciously clenched into a fist.
“Hiss—”
A strange pain came. She raised her hand and found a small bandage stuck to the outer side of her palm. It had a cartoon design, obviously the sort of style Shi Yun liked.
Her memory flowed back. Last night, when she opened the door, she seemed to have crashed into the cabinet and knocked over the vase on top of it.
Xie Qingyun tore open the bandage. The wound was not large, just a shallow cut.
But because she had squeezed it just now, blood was beginning to seep out a little.
“Qingyun.”
It was Qian Can’s voice, accompanied by a knock on the door.
Xie Qingyun fiddled with her hair twice, stuffed her phone under a cushion, adjusted her breathing, and tried her best to make herself look calm. “Come in.”
Qian Can pushed open the door and handed a stack of scripts to Xie Qingyun. She stared at her for a while. “Strange. Why is your face so red?”
She reached out and pressed her hand against Xie Qingyun’s cheek. Xie Qingyun wanted to dodge, but Qian Can held the back of her head in place. “Do you have a fever?”
“N-no!” Xie Qingyun hurriedly stood up and broke free. “I’m fine. Maybe the temperature is a little high today.”
Qian Can looked her over for a while, then nodded in confusion. She tightened the blanket around herself, then turned and opened the window even wider. “As expected of the young. You can still say it’s hot in this temperature.”
“Oh, right. Take the scripts back and go through them first. The publicity team went to the platform, so they won’t be here for the next few days. Once they’re back, we’ll go over them together, all right?”
“Publicity is mainly for the later-stage work. I’m still considering whether to accept this script. I want to hear everyone’s opinions. We can discuss it first, and when they come back, I’ll find them again.”
Xie Qingyun was not very optimistic about the quality of this script. She only wanted to settle it quickly. Dragging things out was not her style.
“Ding!”
The phone stuffed under the cushion rang.
Both of them looked over at the same time. Qian Can gestured for her to check it first.
Xie Qingyun took her phone out from under the cushion. The surveillance video was still playing, showing Shi Yun tucking the throw blanket around her. She curved her lips into a smile.
Shi Yun did not completely lack feelings for her, did she?
“Ding!”
The notification from just now popped up again. It was from the password lock’s camera. The facial recognition showed a stranger lingering at the door.
Xie Qingyun enlarged the image, and her expression changed slightly.
The person who had come was Zhao Zhilin.
She was someone who had been pursuing Shi Yun all this time!
When Shi Yun had been hospitalized before, Zhao Zhilin had kept trying to visit her, but Xie Qingyun had asked bodyguards to stop her outside the door every time.
After guarding against everything, she really had not expected this person to dare come straight to their home.
Xie Qingyun stood up, stuffed the scripts into her bag, and grabbed the sunglasses on the desk. “Sister Qian, I’m going back first. Something came up. I’ll read this script when I get back. Once publicity returns, we can continue going over it.”
