After Signing a Marking Agreement with the Abstinent Omega - Chapter 11
When Lin Wumo said this, she did not lower her voice at all. Her question filled the entire office.
Xie Queyou froze in place. Her face flushed red with a whoosh, and like a broken, slow machine, she could only shake her head.
“N-no, we haven’t. We only met again these past two days.”
Yun Wangqing was also shocked by Lin Wumo’s completely unreserved question. Rare traces of pink appeared on her cold face.
“No.”
Lin Wumo propped up her chin, looking meaningful, then pointed at the tightly shut treatment room across from them.
“Then go inside and mark each other. I need to take a look at your fused pheromones.”
Xie Queyou swallowed helplessly. “Now?”
Lin Wumo looked at her, her eyes calm and undisturbed. “Are you shy?”
Seeing that Xie Queyou beside her was about to turn into a fully cooked shrimp, Yun Wangqing frowned slightly.
“Lin Wumo.”
When Yun Wangqing called someone by their full name, it meant she was about to get angry. Lin Wumo also put away her teasing mood and tried to cover for herself.
“If you haven’t marked, then you haven’t marked. There’s plenty of time. You two can take it slow.”
“I need to extract some pheromones from both of you and see the degree of fusion.”
The last time Xie Queyou marked Yun Wangqing, she had still been in the middle of her second differentiation, and her gland had not yet fully matured. So they still did not know the current fusion state of their pheromones.
Yun Wangqing’s pheromones had already been backed up at the research institute. Xie Queyou only had the pheromones from when she had just differentiated and was not yet mature, so another extraction was needed.
Lin Wumo put on the equipment and took out the extraction needle.
“I need to extract pheromones from deep inside your gland. When the needle goes in, it’ll hurt a little.”
Xie Queyou nodded, indicating that she could begin.
Lin Wumo nodded and removed the suppressant patch from the back of Xie Queyou’s neck.
A cool alcohol cotton ball covered the area. Xie Queyou could not help shrinking back slightly. Before she could react, in the next moment, a cold, stinging pain invaded her gland.
She sucked in a sharp breath. Cold sweat instantly broke out on her forehead. The hand hanging at her side tightened, her fingertips turning white.
Fortunately, the pheromone extraction was very quick. A few seconds later, the needle was pulled out. Lin Wumo handed her a cotton ball and told her to press it against her gland herself.
Then she took the syringe and pushed open the door, walking out.
Lin Wumo was a Beta and could not smell gland pheromones. In her own words, this allowed her to study Alpha and Omega pheromones more rationally, without interference.
Because of that, she also did not know that when she pulled out the needle and turned around to process the sample, aside from the slightly bitter lime scent that emerged in the room, another fragrance also filled the air.
A cool cedar scent, extremely gentle and soothing.
Silently, even somewhat urgently, it gently rubbed against the Alpha’s gland, which was numb with pain.
Xie Queyou held the back of her neck, the pain so intense that physiological tears appeared at the corners of her eyes. She took several deep breaths, letting the refreshing, cold cedar scent fill her chest. Only then did the heart-piercing pain barely subside.
“Dr. Lin’s technique is way too ruthless.” She hissed softly a few times, her nasal voice still trembling a little.
From the corner of her eye, a pair of slender, fair hands handed her a tissue.
Xie Queyou took it. Her fingertips accidentally brushed the other person’s cool fingers, and she quietly said thank you.
Yun Wangqing did not respond. Her gaze landed on Xie Queyou’s slightly reddened neck, and complicated emotions surged faintly in her dark pupils.
The fingers hanging at her side curled slightly, because seeing the Alpha suffer this pain for her sake had caused an unfamiliar sense of guilt to arise.
And also because the fused pheromones in the air brought with them the instinctive urge to approach the Alpha.
“You’re welcome,” she said softly, her voice scattering into the air.
She stood up, walked to Xie Queyou’s side, and gestured for her to move her hand away.
“Let me look at your gland.”
Xie Queyou’s hand over her gland felt a little hot. She subconsciously dodged and said shakily, “The bleeding should have stopped. There’s no need to look, right?”
This was an Alpha’s most vulnerable gland. To expose it so defenselessly like this was far too embarrassing.
A few traces of bitterness appeared in the refreshing lime scent in the air. Yun Wangqing leaned down slightly, narrowing the distance between them. Her tone was softer and gentler than usual.
“Be good. Let me see.”
Xie Queyou failed to argue and could only blush as she obediently moved her hand away.
Yun Wangqing stared intently at that patch of skin. The area around it was red and swollen, looking especially striking against the fair back of her neck.
Her gaze seemed almost tangible. Wherever it passed, Xie Queyou felt as though fire had been lit there, and she no longer even felt the pain.
Perhaps because she could not see clearly, Yun Wangqing lowered her head slightly. Her cool breath gently brushed across that patch of skin.
Xie Queyou suddenly clenched the hem of her clothes. The pain in her gland was replaced by another kind of tingling numbness.
The cedar scent in the air, which had originally only been soothing, actually became seductive and coaxing after sensing the Alpha’s breathing, urging the Alpha to release even more pheromones.
The lime scent also broke free from its owner’s restraint, joyfully and stickily blending together with the cedar. The air in the office suddenly became ambiguous and thick.
If Yun Wangqing kept looking, things would really become unbearable. Xie Queyou sucked in a breath and hurriedly stood up, her movement so large that she even bumped into the table.
She randomly grabbed a suppressant patch from the side and slapped it onto the back of her neck.
“It r-really doesn’t hurt anymore!” She cleared her throat as if trying to cover something up, the roots of her ears completely red.
“Thank you, Miss Yun.”
Yun Wangqing’s gaze froze in midair for a moment. Looking at the suppressant patch Xie Queyou had messily stuck on the back of her neck, a trace of regret flashed through her eyes, one even she herself did not notice.
Her long lashes fluttered slightly. Yun Wangqing took two steps back and nodded.
“Mm.”
Then she turned around. While Xie Queyou was too flustered to pay attention to her, Yun Wangqing raised her hand and tore off the suppressant patch at the back of her own neck, which had already been dampened by pheromones and had completely lost its effect.
With her back to Xie Queyou, she replaced it with a new one.
Just then, the door opened. Lin Wumo came in with the results. Seeing that both of them were standing and that the atmosphere was very strange, she asked in confusion,
“Why are you standing? Sit.”
She placed the results on the table first, not noticing anything unusual in the office, and explained,
“I just went to run the test. Miss Xie, you still don’t know that you’re an S-rank Alpha, do you?”
Xie Queyou sat upright, suppressing her boiling heartbeat and trying to make her tone normal.
“Mm. I didn’t ask at the time. Is there a problem?”
Lin Wumo shook her head. “Yun Wangqing is also an S-rank Omega. S-rank Alphas and Omegas naturally have a relatively high compatibility rate.”
She spread the examination results out in front of the two of them.
“I checked the data entered in the research institute. The pheromones of Alphas who undergo second differentiation contain some genes that are different from ordinary Alphas. On top of that, you were induced into second differentiation by her. Your pheromones are naturally compatible, and you also became an S-rank Alpha.”
Lin Wumo pushed up the glasses on the bridge of her nose.
“That’s why Yun Wangqing doesn’t reject your pheromones.”
S-rank Alphas were already rare. Betas who underwent second differentiation occurred only once in a million. And among Betas induced into differentiation by Yun Wangqing’s pheromones, Xie Queyou was the only one.
Aside from fate, Lin Wumo could not find any other possible explanation.
Xie Queyou’s expression became increasingly shocked as Lin Wumo explained. It was actually such a coincidence. She secretly glanced at Yun Wangqing and saw that her expression was still cold and composed. Xie Queyou sighed inwardly.
Compared to Yun Wangqing, her own emotions really were written all over her face too easily.
Lin Wumo looked at Xie Queyou and continued,
“I extracted pheromones from your gland, so your rut period may come early in the next few days. Remember to prepare properly.”
Then she looked at Yun Wangqing.
“I remember your heat should be coming soon too, right? Although your gland condition has improved somewhat, don’t use suppressants. It would be best to use Alpha pheromones directly. You’ll get twice the result with half the effort.”
Yun Wangqing did not answer. She stared closely at the documents spread out on the table.
Lin Wumo suggested, “You two had better discuss the timing of your next marking. Ideally, it should line up with your rut and heat periods.”
After the examination, the two left. Xie Queyou had to go to the company in the afternoon, and Yun Wangqing also had work, so they parted there.
Aside from that, the two of them also had to discuss the timing of their next marking.
The contract did not specify the exact time or number of markings. Yun Wangqing suggested, “Your rut period is coming soon too. Would next Wednesday work?”
Xie Queyou asked, “At night?”
As soon as she said this, both of them froze at the same time.
Right. Marking was something that would happen at night, wasn’t it?
Realizing that she had thought of messy things again, Xie Queyou hurriedly shook the thoughts out of her mind and nodded.
“I’m free at night.”
Yun Wangqing’s breathing unconsciously paused for a moment. “Then at night. Come to my home.”
Xie Queyou said, “Okay. About your work this afternoon, do you still need my pheromones?”
Yun Wangqing had not expected her to be so attentive, even remembering something she had casually mentioned. She shook her head.
“It’s all Omegas this afternoon. No need.”
Xie Queyou relaxed slightly. “Okay. If you need them later, message me.”
—
Watching Yun Wangqing’s car drive out of the underground garage, Xie Queyou did not go to the company as she had said. Instead, she returned to the research institute.
She knocked on the office door. Hearing a response from inside, she pushed the door open and entered.
Lin Wumo raised her head. “Why are you back again? Where’s Yun Wangqing?”
Xie Queyou said, “I came to see you by myself.”
Lin Wumo asked, “Is something wrong?”
Xie Queyou sat in the chair and spoke awkwardly.
“Dr. Lin, among the Alphas you’ve seen who underwent second differentiation, how well could they control their glands?”
She said, “I seem to be… a little unable to control how much pheromone I release. I keep overwhelming Yun Wangqing.”
Lin Wumo thought for a moment and said, “I didn’t think you were unable to control it. Weren’t you and Yun Wangqing fusing quite well in the office just now?”
Xie Queyou froze. “How did you know?”
Lin Wumo curled her lip speechlessly and placed a badge-like instrument that had been clipped to her chest in her palm.
“The research institute’s newest result. A small pheromone detector, specially designed for Betas.”
Xie Queyou stared at the tiny, delicate object for a moment, then was greatly shocked.
“You knew, so why didn’t you remind us?”
So embarrassing. Doing something like that openly in front of someone else—how was that any different from having an affair?
Lin Wumo: “…”
Lin Wumo said, “Why would I remind you? I can’t wait to watch you two hurry up and fuse.”
She cleared her throat and brought the topic back.
“Controlling pheromone release is a matter of time. Most Alphas and Omegas who have just differentiated don’t know how to control it. You only differentiated recently too. After releasing them a few more times, you’ll become familiar with it.”
Finally, she said earnestly, “Get more practical experience with Yun Wangqing. Slowly, you’ll learn how to control it.”
Xie Queyou’s face turned red as she listened. She really wanted to ask how Lin Wumo could say such suggestive things with such a blank face, but before she could speak, she was chased out.
Before the door closed, she still heard Lin Wumo say,
“You must get more practical experience!”
