After Signing a Marking Agreement with the Abstinent Omega - Chapter 23
It was a simple, neat dark coat, loose in style, and it felt weighty in her hands.
Xie Queyou looked at it carefully again. It was indeed her coat. But why had Yun Wangqing folded it neatly and placed it on the bedside table?
Xie Queyou stroked her chin and frowned. She leaned forward and twitched her nose to smell it.
Her coat was also covered in Yun Wangqing’s scent!
Xie Queyou’s dog-like eyes instantly lit up. She buried her head in it and sniffed hard. The fresh scent of laundry detergent carried the cool cedar fragrance into her lungs, bringing a wave of ease.
Only after smelling it until her head went fuzzy did she let go and start thinking about why her coat was in Yun Wangqing’s room.
Perhaps Yun Wangqing had called her up today to return her clothes, Xie Queyou thought.
That had to be it. Otherwise, there was no way to explain why Yun Wangqing had put her clothes by the bed.
Thinking this, Xie Queyou could not help sniffing it again.
Could an Alpha’s dependence on Omega pheromones really be this strong? Her rut had already passed long ago, but smelling it still made her like it so much and want to cling to it.
—
Yun Wangqing was always a bit more patient toward juniors who loved acting. Shen Lisheng was also very hardworking and understood things as soon as they were pointed out.
So Yun Wangqing gave her several more improvisation exercises for her to try. Back and forth, before they knew it, it was already past midnight.
Shen Lisheng was still reluctant to leave. Discussing acting with a Best Actress-level figure like Yun Wangqing had made the level above her head soar rapidly. Hugging her script, she left excitedly while crying.
Yun Wangqing stood up and moved her sore, stiff body. The air conditioner in the living room had not been turned on. Wearing the heavy trench coat, she had broken out in a layer of sweat.
Because she had just showered, she had not applied a suppressant patch. Her gland had been exposed to the air for several hours and was already sensitive.
Her hair clung damply to her neck, strands brushing over her gland. Her eyes were half-lidded, her beautiful features slightly flushed, bringing a tremor through her body.
Her gaze shifted to the living room clock.
Nearly one in the morning. They had actually talked for more than three hours.
Thinking of the anxious look Xie Queyou had given her before leaving, Yun Wangqing’s heart softened a little. She gently pushed open the bedroom door.
The lights in the room were off. Yun Wangqing’s eyes, still adjusted to the light outside, could not see clearly inside, but she could smell the lime spreading through the air.
It was no longer domineering and invasive like it had been during rut. At this moment, the lime was especially peaceful and steady.
She closed the door and sank completely into the darkness. Her whole body was soaked in soft lime, and the brows that had been tightly furrowed all day finally relaxed.
After her eyes adjusted to the dim environment, she lifted her foot and moved closer to the source of the lime. At last, she saw the full appearance of the Alpha she had left in the room.
Xie Queyou was lying on the carpet beside the bed, curled up on her side. She had only pulled down one corner of the quilt from the bed, hugging it with her head buried inside, completely still.
The only sounds in the room were her light, steady breathing and the obedient pheromones surrounding her.
Yun Wangqing’s steps paused. A dense, sour ache spread through her heart.
She would rather sleep on the floor than sleep on the bed. This Alpha really seemed to be angry with her.
She walked closer, crouched down, and carefully looked at the Alpha curled up on the floor.
Xie Queyou was sleeping very sweetly while holding the quilt. There was even a faint curve at the corner of her lips, making it look as if she were having a good dream.
Light gathered in Yun Wangqing’s eyes, and ripples rose in the depths of her gaze. She quietly released a thread of her own pheromones, soothingly wrapping it around the lime.
Then she raised her hand and tucked Xie Queyou’s messy hair behind her ear.
“Why didn’t you sleep on the bed?” Her voice was very soft, as if asking Xie Queyou, yet more like she was talking to herself.
As if sensing someone’s touch, the sleeping woman frowned slightly and muttered something indistinctly. She hugged the quilt in her arms more tightly and subconsciously nuzzled toward Yun Wangqing’s pheromones.
Yun Wangqing could not hold back and laughed softly. Looking at Xie Queyou’s sleeping profile, complex emotions spread through her eyes.
She had still hurt her.
The memory of Xie Queyou’s reply that day uncontrollably surfaced in her mind. Yun Wangqing withdrew her smile, and her mood suddenly fell.
That panicked, displeased feeling traveled through time and pierced her heart. Only then had Yun Wangqing belatedly realized that Xie Queyou was angry.
In her thirty years of life, she had grown used to distancing herself from others, used to exchanging value for everything. She had thought that money was compensation, but had not expected it to be a sharp blade stabbing into the Alpha’s sincere heart.
She had never handled an intimate relationship before. She had not expected her first attempt to be handled so badly.
Yun Wangqing laughed self-mockingly and pulled the quilt down a little, covering Xie Queyou.
It was only when she ran into Xie Queyou in the elevator today and saw her restrained, avoidant gaze that Yun Wangqing rarely tasted the feeling of panic.
She instinctively wanted to change the Alpha’s expression. So, her pheromones moved faster than her actions and spilled from her body to lure Xie Queyou.
When she saw Xie Queyou unable to withstand her pheromones and fleeing in panic, part of her found it adorable, while another part secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
That message had been her test. She was afraid the Alpha wanted to cut off their agreement.
The only fortunate thing was that Xie Queyou had not truly held a grudge against her. After receiving her message, she had still been willing to come.
Although it was because the Alpha thought she needed to fulfill the agreement.
Yun Wangqing gazed at the woman’s defenseless sleeping face. The lime spreading through the air sensed the Omega’s gentleness and took the initiative to draw closer, kissing her cheek as if trying to please her.
She sighed.
If only the owner of this lime could be as honest as her pheromones.
There had been too much work today, and on top of that, her nerves had been highly tense while facing Yun Wangqing tonight. In the bedroom, she was soaked in the warm fragrance, and her tense nerves gradually loosened. Before long, she fell asleep.
When Xie Queyou opened her eyes again, what she saw was still the dim room. She sat up, looked at the quilt covering her body, and stared blankly into space.
Suddenly, the sound of water from the bathroom faintly fell into her ears. Xie Queyou’s consciousness instantly cleared.
She hurriedly climbed up from the carpet and patted her face to keep herself awake.
How had she really fallen asleep in Yun Wangqing’s bedroom? She did not even know whether Yun Wangqing had come back.
Xie Queyou rubbed her sleepy eyes and followed the sound step by step. It was only when she reached the bathroom door that she realized who was inside.
Her footsteps paused, and even her breathing stopped. She smoothly turned around and prepared to hurry away.
But she was still heard.
“Is that Xie Queyou?”
The woman’s voice in the bathroom carried moisture, falling into her ears through the bathroom door. Xie Queyou could neither leave nor stay, so she had no choice but to stop.
She resigned herself to answering, “It’s me.”
The sound of water in the bathroom paused. Then a somewhat shy female voice came out. “I didn’t expect you to wake up, so I left my sleepwear outside. Can you help me get it?”
Xie Queyou instinctively looked around and indeed saw the silk nightdress placed to the side.
She froze, and her cheeks instantly burned red. She coughed twice in an obvious attempt to cover it up. “Okay.”
She picked up the nightdress. The silky texture felt as if it might slip from her hands at any moment, and even the sound of her knocking against the frosted glass door was clumsy.
The bedroom was dim, and only the bathroom inside had its light on. Because of that, even through the frosted glass, she could still see the general outline inside.
Including Yun Wangqing.
Xie Queyou instantly lowered her head, the tips of her ears burning. “Come over and take it. It’s already very late, so I’ll leave first.”
As she spoke, she hung the clothes on the door handle and quickly turned to leave.
When Yun Wangqing pulled open the bathroom door, all she saw were the clothes hanging on the handle and the lime that had not yet had time to dissipate in the air.
She pressed her lips together, silently put on the clothes, and walked out barefoot. Seeing the bed that Xie Queyou had restored to its original state, her dark eyes became unreadable.
She was still angry.
—
After Xie Queyou returned, she had thought that after everything that had happened today, she would not be able to sleep.
She had not expected that the moment her head touched the pillow, she would fall into a deep sleep. In her dreams, the pheromones that haunted her thoughts soothed all of her nerves.
Unexpectedly, she slept very well.
Early the next morning, she stretched, her whole body feeling relaxed.
She checked her phone. Yun Wangqing had not sent her any messages, so she settled her heart and prepared to go downstairs for breakfast. Before leaving, her gaze swept over the clothes placed by the bed, and her eyes suddenly darkened.
These were the clothes she had taken back from Yun Wangqing’s room last night. They were still stained with a faint cedar scent. Xie Queyou’s heart stirred slightly.
In the end, her dependence on Omega pheromones won out.
After breakfast, Xie Queyou went to the set.
The scene they were filming today was an important one. The female doctor realized that the little wife she had picked up was hiding something from her, so she confronted her. But the little wife still refused to speak. The doctor felt betrayed and left in tears.
This scene tested an actor’s explosive ability. It could even be said to emphasize strong emotions in the moment.
Likewise, it was Han Si’s first major scene since joining the crew.
When Xie Queyou rushed over, the crew’s snow machines were already wildly making snow. Artificial snowflakes flew all over the sky. From a distance, it really looked as if snow was falling in June.
She instinctively wrapped her coat tighter around herself and walked toward Shi Ziyi.
The actors and director were sitting together, discussing the script. Xie Queyou sat beside Shi Ziyi and nodded in greeting to Lu Yu, who played the fallen princess.
She looked around. “Where’s Han Si?”
Shi Ziyi said, “She should be here soon. This scene is an important one for her.”
But Shi Ziyi’s “soon” turned into an hour of waiting for the entire crew.
Xie Queyou frowned, looking at the snow on the set that was already one foot deep. “Where is she?”
Shi Ziyi’s brows also drew together. “She called just now and said she got an upset stomach from eating something during the night shoot yesterday. She’s on her way now.”
Xie Queyou took a deep breath and sat in her chair. The humming of the snow machines made her somewhat irritated.
After sitting there and waiting another half an hour, Xie Queyou’s head was covered in fallen snow. She stood up and shook it off hard.
“We’re not waiting for her. Check if there are any other snow scenes in the script and shoot those first.”
The whole crew had already been sitting and waiting all morning. Their progress was already behind schedule.
Shi Ziyi had no choice either and only said, “Usually, Xiao Han is quite obedient. Maybe she really did get an upset stomach this time.”
Xie Queyou did not speak, but unease throbbed faintly in her heart.
Fortunately, the script also had several snow scenes for the princess, so everyone hurriedly changed locations, built the set, and started filming.
But things were just that coincidental. Just as the props team had finished setting up the scene and was about to begin filming, Han Si arrived.
“I’m truly sorry. I ate something bad last night. Everyone, take a break first. I bought milk tea for everyone and also found a chef to prepare extra dishes for lunch.”
She wore a perfectly apologetic smile and walked over with several cups of milk tea in her hands.
“Director, let everyone rest first. I’ll go change now and we can start filming right away.”
“Well… I was just about to shoot the next scene.” Shi Ziyi hesitated as well and looked for help toward the silent Xie Queyou standing nearby.
Xie Queyou said, “Shoot the princess’s scene first. We can’t waste the snow. Rest after filming it.”
Han Si said, “What if the milk tea I bought for everyone gets cold? Let’s rest first.”
Xie Queyou glanced at her and spoke again. “Film first.”
The staff members nearby, who had already been about to put down their props, could only pick up their tools again. Their expressions did not look too good, but since Xie Queyou was the boss, they could only continue.
The smile on Han Si’s face paused for a moment, then quickly returned to normal. She handed over the milk tea in her hand. “Then this one is for Producer Xie first.”
Xie Queyou looked at the milk tea in her hand and took it. In the next second, Han Si turned and left without looking back, completely different from her polite and courteous appearance just now.
Xie Queyou lowered her head and looked at the warm milk tea in her hand.
Peach flavor.
