Chapter 30
The door closed, and the living room returned to silence.
The night was thick as ink that could not be dissolved. Outside the window, the wind blew occasionally, as if between heaven and earth, she was the only one left.
Yun Wangqing glanced at the wall clock. Three in the morning.
It was already very late.
She picked up the suppressant patches Lin Wumo had left on the table and clenched them in her hand. The warm-cool sensation fell into her palm, and the heart that had sunk into the lake trembled along with it.
If the rut had not broken out today, was Xie Queyou still going to swallow all these things and keep them inside?
If she had not suddenly come to find her tonight, would Yun Wangqing have truly thought that Xie Queyou could handle her rut on her own?
The moment she thought of this, Yun Wangqing’s heart habitually twitched.
Even she herself had not noticed that at some unknown point, this Alpha she had only known for a month could already easily control her mood.
After sorting out her turbulent emotions, Yun Wangqing took the special suppressant patches from the research institute and pushed open the bedroom door.
The rich lime and cedar intertwined in the air. Although they were not as intense as before, they still filled the room, as if every corner had to be wrapped in their scent.
She pressed down her slightly disordered mind, closed the door behind her, and approached the woman lying on the bed.
Hearing the sound, Xie Queyou slowly opened her eyes.
In the dim room, shadows of lamplight swayed. The woman before her was surrounded by a fragrance that made her addicted.
After receiving a suppressant injection, her condition had improved a lot, but at the same time, she felt very sad.
Because the Omega had left her to see someone out. Even if it had only been a few minutes, she felt as if a century had passed.
Normally, an Alpha’s dependence on an Omega during rut was not as severe as an Omega’s dependence on an Alpha during heat. But Xie Queyou just happened to be the exception.
Before Lin Wumo left, she had also guessed that perhaps it was because both of them were S-rank, and their pheromone compatibility was above ninety percent.
Yun Wangqing pressed her lips together, placed the suppressant patches on the bedside table, and sat down at the edge of the bed.
The clean, tidy bed before she had fallen asleep was already a complete mess, with surging fragrance everywhere.
“How do you feel now?” she asked. Her voice was warm and cool, and the ending softened a great deal.
Smelling the cedar on her body, Xie Queyou’s restless feeling improved a lot. She lowered her head, even her hair seeming to reveal guilt.
“I’m sorry. I made you worry too much tonight.”
If people had fluffy ears, Yun Wangqing felt Xie Queyou’s ears would definitely be flattened backward right now.
She could not help finding this thought amusing, and softness poured from her eyes.
The Xie Queyou she usually saw was sunny, as if she took everything lightly.
This vulnerable version of her, begging to be cared for, was truly the first Yun Wangqing had seen.
It was a special side exposed only to her. A dark satisfaction flashed through Yun Wangqing’s eyes.
She favored this appearance of Xie Queyou that was shown only to her. The desire for control deep in her heart was completely pleased.
“It won’t.” Yun Wangqing smiled faintly, carrying a hint of bewitching charm.
As she spoke, she reached out and lifted the quilt covering Xie Queyou. Then she lay down on her side beside the burning-hot Xie Queyou, lying beneath the quilt filled with the fragrance of their mingled pheromones.
Xie Queyou’s whole body stiffened. Then she heard that pleasant female voice continue.
“I’m very happy you came to find me tonight.”
Xie Queyou’s eyes instantly brightened a lot. “Really? I didn’t cause you trouble?”
“Trouble?”
Yun Wangqing shook her head. Thinking of those few days when Xie Queyou had restrained herself every time they marked out of consideration for her rejection disorder, ripples appeared across the icy lake in her heart.
Her lashes fluttered slightly, and she said very softly, “That word should be mine to say.”
Xie Queyou was still immersed in the joy of Yun Wangqing saying she did not find her troublesome and did not hear Yun Wangqing’s mosquito-soft voice.
Warmth spread through her heart, and the lingering heat in her body also dissipated by more than half.
Yun Wangqing was so good. Not only had she not gotten angry at her, she had been accommodating her all this time.
She had to fulfill Yun Wangqing’s request. She had to help her completely cure her rejection disorder, so she would no longer be bound by anyone.
So she could seek her own true freedom and happiness!
However, before she could continue thinking about what she wanted to do for Yun Wangqing, an arm suddenly wrapped around her neck.
Immediately after, an irresistible force pressed her head downward.
Yun Wangqing leaned beside her ear. Her thin lips moved, and burning breath spilled against Xie Queyou’s fair ear.
“Now, do you need a mark?”
Xie Queyou’s face lit up with heat in an instant. The patch of skin brushed by that breath felt as if electricity had passed through it, spreading numbness through half her body.
She stared blankly, gazing at the woman so close before her.
Yun Wangqing had pulled the distance between them extremely close, so close that each of their breaths could spill against the other’s cheek.
“Even after receiving a suppressant injection, it won’t relieve too much rut discomfort right away.”
Yun Wangqing understood the pharmacology of suppressants best.
For a suppressant to fully relieve rut after being injected into the body, it still needed some time to take full effect.
During this period, without the comfort of pheromones, one could only force themselves to endure it.
Hearing this, Xie Queyou’s eyes lit up.
She had been enduring it all this time, afraid Yun Wangqing would notice something was wrong with her.
But in truth, Yun Wangqing had discovered it long ago and had even taken the initiative to ask if she should help.
“Can I really?” she asked in disbelief, breathing unevenly.
Her mouth was politely asking, but the pheromones overflowing from her body had already wrapped around the cold fragrance, just waiting for their owner’s command to entwine with it.
Only Xie Queyou could ask such straightforward words. Yun Wangqing’s cheeks flushed with shyness. She unnaturally moved her gaze away and cleared her throat to cover it up.
Her gaze fell toward the corner of the bedroom. Even without looking back, Yun Wangqing could clearly feel the scorching gaze of the person behind her, full of undisguised longing.
That gaze was in no hurry either. If Yun Wangqing did not answer or look at her, it would approach Yun Wangqing on its own.
It fell on her forehead, brow bones, the tip of her nose, and her lips, carefully tracing each part. Wherever it moved, Yun Wangqing felt as if that part being stared at was about to catch fire.
She should not have asked.
Yun Wangqing complained inwardly as the temperature on her face grew higher and higher. In the end, left with no choice under the Alpha’s gaze that almost wanted to swallow her whole, she nodded very slightly.
“Mm.”
Her voice was very light, almost inaudible, soft and gentle. If someone else heard it, they would only think they were hallucinating. How could this possibly be the voice of that cold and aloof Yun Wangqing?
As soon as she agreed, she hurriedly added, “But you can’t use too much force. Last time you marked me, you broke the skin. It only just healed.”
The Alpha had used too much force, making her hurt for a long time. Every time she applied a suppressant patch, when the edge of the patch brushed over that area of skin, it would cause an uncontrollable tremor.
Her tone carried reproach, accusing the Alpha of not cherishing delicate beauty.
Xie Queyou pressed her lips together, her eyes filled with sincere apology.
“I’m sorry.”
Now was not the time to apologize. The temperature in the room was growing higher, and Xie Queyou’s body temperature was becoming hotter and hotter.
The places where they touched seemed to be igniting with heat too. Yun Wangqing reached out, took Xie Queyou’s wrist, and without allowing refusal, placed it over the back of her own neck.
It seemed this action made her especially embarrassed. Just placing the other woman’s arm on her shoulder was enough to make her fair cheeks turn thoroughly red.
The next words made the roots of her ears burn even more.
“The suppressant patch… tear it off yourself.”
Xie Queyou’s heartbeat stopped for a moment. All the blood in her body seemed to gather in the fingertips touching the suppressant patch.
Even though she had only just transmigrated, she knew what the suppressant patch covering the back of the neck meant to Alphas and Omegas.
Even for the most intimate AO pair, asking the other party to help put one on was already extremely ambiguous.
Let alone actively inviting someone else to tear it off.
Did Yun Wangqing know what she was doing?
Thousands of words blocked her throat, as if no matter what she said, it could not express her current feelings.
Xie Queyou simply closed her mouth and used actions to express herself.
Her palm covered it, and her fingertips pinched the edge of the suppressant patch. Slowly, bit by bit, she tore off that patch hiding the Omega’s most fragile gland.
Immediately, cold fragrance rushed into her nose.
The instant the pheromones met in the air, both of them froze.
It was too rich. So rich it almost drowned people in the cedar scent rushing toward them.
Xie Queyou even kept her breathing extremely light, afraid of disturbing the beauty of this cold fragrance.
It was Yun Wangqing’s first time taking the initiative. Her cheeks were flushed. She hugged the back of the person before her, trying to bury her face in Xie Queyou’s neck so the other woman would not see her.
“It’s all right. Counting the days, I do need marking today too. You don’t have to feel too much psychological burden.”
She comforted her sentence by sentence, though it was unclear whether she was comforting Xie Queyou or herself.
Xie Queyou did not answer. Her vigorous heartbeat traveled from where their chests pressed together into Yun Wangqing’s every limb and bone.
It was violent, alive, just like the Alpha now being tempted by her.
The exposed gland was watched by a scorching gaze. Burning breath spilled onto the fragile skin. She could not help letting out a soft whimper and shrinking her shoulders.
But she was pressed back down.
She instantly panicked and instinctively struggled to push the Alpha’s shoulders, but she could not move her.
“Xie Queyou…” Her voice carried a little timidity. She suddenly regretted saying those words.
“Yun Wangqing, I’ll be obedient.”
Xie Queyou no longer waited. She leaned down and kissed her.
The soft tip of her tongue swept carefully over the skin. Yun Wangqing’s body immediately stiffened, and she could not help crying out, though only broken breaths came out.
She grabbed the clothes on Xie Queyou’s back, her fingertips so forceful they nearly turned white.
“Don’t keep… Hurry… bite.”
Her gland was still too fragile. It could not withstand even the slightest stimulation. Before the true marking had even begun, it had already made her whole body tremble.
Receiving the Omega’s urging, Xie Queyou finally moved. She no longer suppressed her instincts as she had in the past. She parted her lips, and her canine teeth pierced the skin she had bullied until it turned red.
Clear lime poured into the gland, forcefully washing through every inch of blood, domineeringly declaring possession.
Cool pheromones spread through her whole body. The pain of her skin being pierced made Yun Wangqing unable to stop herself from hugging the person in her arms tightly.
But what followed along with it was pleasure enough to make one faint.
The high compatibility of their pheromones was displayed to the fullest in this moment. Yun Wangqing’s pupils trembled. Even her whimpers disappeared with it, and her mind went blank.
Xie Queyou was still injecting pheromones without regard for anything else, as if she wanted to compensate Yun Wangqing for all the grievance and guilt of these past days, like a mad dog.
More than ten seconds later, Yun Wangqing finally came back to herself, but Xie Queyou was still biting her gland with no sign of letting go.
She finally could not help crying. She reached out and pushed Xie Queyou’s shoulders hard.
“Go away, go away. It’s too much. I really can’t take it.”
Hadn’t Lin Wumo already given her a suppressant injection? Why was the intensity still killing her now?
She regretted it. She did not want marking anymore.
This Alpha was a mad dog. Given a pole, she would immediately climb up it.
She should not have been soft-hearted. She should not have pitied her. She should have let her curl up alone in the quilt and endure it herself!
