After the Scumbag Alpha Tries to Save the Love-Struck and Flips Over (Quick Transmigration GL) - Chapter 59
“Me?” Shen Su wanted to say that she hoped Lu Yan would survive. But remembering the psychological consultation from before, she hesitated for a moment and said, “I hope one person survives. Rather than dying for love, I prefer this relationship to be cherished and remembered. Many years from now, someone will still remember these beautiful moments.”
Lu Yan gave a soft “mm.” “I think so too.” She hoped the wish she had made at the temple would come true.
The two squatted down, picked up the children’s toys they bought at the convenience store, and built a sandcastle. They took a photo together in front of the castle.
They strolled along the beach until the sun set over the horizon, and only then did they leave unhurriedly. They found a locally famous open-air seafood stall. The seafood was exceptionally fresh, and it was the peak season for swimming crabs. They ordered steamed crabs, which were incredibly sweet and delicious.
Having eaten and drunk their fill, they returned to the hotel. Standing by the window, they could see the magnificent, sweeping view of the ocean—it was beautiful.
“Where to next?” Lu Yan asked. She had been held and kissed by Shen Su for quite a while, her back pressed flush against the cool glass.
Shen Su pulled the curtains shut and thought for a moment. “How about something cultural? A museum or an art gallery.”
“Okay.” Lu Yan toyed with Shen Su’s hair, twirling a strand around her finger. “An art gallery shouldn’t run into any of your acquaintances, right? Like a childhood friend or something?”
Shen Su burst out laughing, gently tapping Lu Yan’s forehead. “Why are you getting jealous over old history?”
“I heard that childhood friend of yours is abroad! And she’s a painter. What if you bump into her?” Lu Yan huffed softly, turning her head away to block Shen Su from kissing her.
“Then we won’t go to the art gallery.” Shen Su kissed Lu Yan’s cheek. “Where do you want to go? I’ll listen to you.”
“Anywhere is fine, as long as it’s the two of us…” Lu Yan wrapped her legs around Shen Su’s waist, holding her tightly.
“Then where do you want to be right now?” Shen Su pressed a gentle kiss on Lu Yan’s forehead. “Here, or there?”
“On the bed. It’s a bit cold over here.” Lu Yan looked up, licking Shen Su’s long, fair neck, leaving her own mark upon it.
…
The next day, the two didn’t wake up until noon to head to their next stop.
Museums required reservations in advance, and the lines were usually quite long. Because they had lost some time at the hotel in the morning, it was already 2:00 PM by the time they reached their fourth stop. They had missed their reservation window, and even if they queued up, it would likely be closing time soon. So, they went to the hotel to rest first.
Shen Su lay on the bed and rebooked their museum entry for tomorrow afternoon. As for tomorrow morning, she’d see if they could get out of bed first before making plans.
Just then, Lu Yan emerged from the bathroom wrapped in a towel. Shen Su had a gut feeling that they probably wouldn’t be getting up tomorrow morning.
…
As expected, they spent the entire morning lounging in bed. Shen Su was capable of getting up, but Lu Yan whined and refused to leave the bed, clinging to Shen Su to keep her from getting up either. It wasn’t until Lu Yan’s own stomach started growling that the two finally went out to explore a small street and grab some food.
In the afternoon, they arrived to line up ahead of their designated reservation slot at the museum. The queue was just as long as they had imagined. While waiting in line, they began to chat about their childhoods.
In truth, Shen Su’s memories of the host were quite hazy, and recalling them required a lot of brainpower, so Lu Yan did most of the talking. She talked about her time with her grandmother and stories from the orphanage.
Shen Su handed a thermos to Lu Yan. “Drink some water first to moisten your throat.”
Lu Yan hummed, taking small sips. “What about you? Aside from telling me about losing your New Year’s pocket money, I rarely hear you mention your childhood.”
“Me…” Shen Su almost blurted out that she had attended various extracurricular classes since she was small, but she remembered that in this world, her persona was a slacker.
“What is it?” Lu Yan capped the thermos, placed it back into her backpack, and leaned in curiously.
Shen Su gave a generalized answer: “I can’t remember clearly. I just ate, drank, and played.”
“Was there anything interesting?” Lu Yan blinked, looking at her expectantly.
Shen Su thought for a moment. “I remember one thing. When I was little, my parents were sometimes not at home, and I liked to try making tasty food myself. I wanted to make soy sauce fried rice, but I ended up frying it with raw, uncooked rice without adding any water. In the end, the fried rice was so hard it was impossible to chew.”
And then she had been scolded by her mother.
“So Sugar, who has such amazing culinary skills now, actually has a dark history of making terrible food?” Lu Yan couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Yeah…” Shen Su rubbed Lu Yan’s head.
The line moved slowly, and the two finally reached the front, entering the museum. Stepping inside, their first impression was its sheer grandeur. They strolled around slowly, and as closing time approached, they went into the gift shop to buy some souvenirs to bring back.
After all, this was the final stop of their vacation.
Two days later, carrying their gifts, the two returned to the Shen residence first. The four of them had a meal together, chatting about being trapped by the snow on the mountain. Shen Mother still felt a lingering sense of dread. “At the time, we saw the local news and couldn’t contact you. We were already prepared to send a helicopter to pick you up.”
“But we came back safe and sound! Set your mind at ease!” Shen Su comforted her with a smile.
While peeling shrimp for his wife, Shen Father said, “Right, right, right, aren’t they back now? Don’t dwell on it. Next time we go skiing, I’ll definitely check the weather carefully.”
Shen Su: …I have a reasonable suspicion he’s lifting himself up by putting me down.
Lu Yan helped explain, “Actually, we checked the weather in advance. The forecast didn’t say it would snow.”
“So that’s how it was. Then there really was nothing to be done.” Shen Father chuckled, continuing to peel shrimp. “How are the arrangements for your engagement banquet coming along?”
Shen Su: “Progressing in an orderly manner.”
“That’s good.”
After a harmonious family dinner, they took a stroll in the courtyard. It wasn’t until past eight o’clock that they returned to their respective rooms. Shen Su secretly slipped into Lu Yan’s room again. However, the two did nothing, simply sharing a pure conversation beneath the covers.
“Do you want to visit the orphanage?” Shen Su asked. When buying souvenirs, she had purposely bought a few extra sets.
Lu Yan shook her head. “I went before; that orphanage has already closed down. But we can go visit the director together. She lives in a nursing home now.”
“Okay, but we’ll probably have to wait until the weekend.” Having taken a long block of leave, a significant amount of work had piled up.
“Same here,” Lu Yan smiled helplessly.
Saturday
The two packed the museum souvenirs into the car, stopped by a florist along the way to buy a bouquet, and bought some seasonal fruit at the neighboring fruit shop. When Shen Su met the director Lu Yan had spoken of, the older woman was looking at the fresh flowers in her garden.
“Director—” Lu Yan waved to her, her eyes full of smiles.
The director was a female Beta in her sixties. Her legs weren’t very good, so she sat in a wheelchair.
“Yan Yan is here?” The director beckoned Lu Yan over with a kind smile. “Come closer and let me look at you—”
Lu Yan walked up to her. “Director, how have you been lately? Are you feeling well?”
“Very well,” the director said with a smile, looking up at Shen Su standing behind Lu Yan. “And this is…”
Shen Su stepped forward and presented the flowers. “Hello, Director. I am Yan Yan’s Alpha, Shen Su. Our engagement banquet is in about ten days. Are you free to attend?”
“Thank you.” The director took the flowers with a smile, inhaling their fragrance happily. Hearing Shen Su’s invitation, she paused slightly. “Me? But my legs make it inconvenient for me to move around…” She knew who Shen Su was—the sole daughter of the capital’s Shen family, an S-rank Alpha. She looked at Lu Yan with a touch of worry.
Shen Su said warmly, “That won’t be a problem. When the time comes, we will arrange for someone to pick you up.”
“Yes, Director!” Lu Yan linked arms with Shen Su, smiling. “If you don’t come, I’ll feel it’s a regret. This is a once-in-a-lifetime engagement, please promise me!”
Seeing how close the two were, the director smiled and agreed, “Alright.”
“The sun is getting a bit strong. Shall I push you under the pavilion to cool off?” Shen Su asked.
The director nodded. “Okay, thank you, young Shen.”
Lu Yan stayed to chat with the director, mostly talking about things that had happened at the orphanage. Shen Su had heard most of it before, so she simply kept them company in silence.
As lunch time approached, the director didn’t insist on keeping them. “It’s getting late. Go have your lunch, don’t mind me, I’ll stroll around a bit more on my own.”
Lu Yan knew the director didn’t want to trouble them, but she said, “It happens to be lunch time anyway. Why don’t we push you to the cafeteria before we go?”
“That works too.”
Before leaving, Lu Yan leaned close to the director’s ear and whispered, “Director, rest easy and just come. We’ll have everything prepared. You just need to wait to eat the wedding candy.”
The director nodded. After a brief hesitation, she finally asked the question she cared about most: “Does she… treat you well?”
Shen Su was standing not far away by the flower bed, offering the two a soft smile.
“Yes, she treats me exceptionally well,” Lu Yan smiled too.
“Ah, I remember a long time ago, you told me there was someone you liked but couldn’t win over. It couldn’t be her, could it?” The director still remembered the absolute certainty in Lu Yan’s eyes back then.
Lu Yan said with a laugh, “Yes, my luck is truly amazing.”
“That’s good, that’s good.” The director was finally at ease. “Go on, I’ll definitely be there for your engagement banquet.”
Shen Su and Lu Yan said in unison, “Goodbye, Director—”
“See you next time.”
Leaving the nursing home, Lu Yan still felt a bit sentimental. However, upon entering the restaurant, she quickly gathered her thoughts and enjoyed the food.
As the date of the engagement banquet drew closer, the unease in Lu Yan’s heart grew stronger. She thought to herself that she might truly just be too anxious, so she went to have another psychological consultation.
