After Transmigrating as a Scum Alpha, a Cold Omega Stole My Heart - Chapter 11
Because of the incident at the library, Xie Shuyun didn’t know how to face Cheng Lingxue, let alone deal with a certain someone next to her who lived for gossip.
“Hey, Yun-zai, I heard from Liang Wenjie’s friend that you and the School Beauty really…”
“We didn’t, there’s nothing going on, stop talking nonsense.” Xie Shuyun pushed away Shang Yan’s constantly encroaching head. Just thinking about the gossiping eyes focused on her gave her a headache. Even though she had denied it, people didn’t believe her; the looks they gave her and Cheng Lingxue were becoming increasingly ambiguous. She had no idea what kind of scenarios they were imagining.
“But I heard your child is already a year old, walking, and calling you Mom and Dad,” Shang Yan said relentlessly. Her words almost made Xie Shuyun cough up blood.
They say news travels fast and gets distorted along the way, but this was clearly beyond the realm of reality! A one-year-old child… they were only sixteen!
“Shang Yan, stop listening to these people’s nonsense. There’s really nothing between us,” Xie Shuyun said with a heavy sigh and a serious tone.
What troubled her more was that these rumors made it difficult for her to get close to Cheng Lingxue. She feared even more outrageous claims would surface, yet she was also worried that the stubborn “bad peach blossoms” still on her contact list might go looking for trouble with Cheng Lingxue.
“Oh, right, Yun-zai, I have these. Do you want them?” As she spoke, Shang Yan took two movie tickets out of her pocket and waved them in front of Xie Shuyun.
“You want to go with me?” Looking at the title and design on the ticket stubs, it was clearly a movie about a romance between an Alpha and an Omega. Xie Shuyun looked at Shang Yan with a bizarre expression.
“What are you thinking? There’s no way I’d go with you.” Shang Yan rolled her eyes and then motioned with her gaze toward Cheng Lingxue, who was currently bent over her desk diligently solving problems, appearing completely unaffected by the surrounding whispers. “You can invite the School Beauty.”
“Huh? What are you thinking? Lingxue would never agree.” Xie Shuyun’s eyes widened slightly as she shook her head without hesitation. Given the current situation, inviting her to watch this kind of movie—wasn’t that just seeking an early grave?
Seeing Xie Shuyun being such a coward, Shang Yan could hardly stand it. Where was the “Master of Romance” who used to take the initiative? How had she become so timid! However… Shang Yan’s eyes narrowed with a mischievous glint.
Doesn’t this mean it’s true love?! She used to bully her relentlessly, and only now does she realize she likes her. Now that she wants to pursue her, she’s acting as pure as a child. What a middle-school-style love story. Thinking of this, Shang Yan couldn’t help but let out a “shipping” grin, which gave Xie Shuyun goosebumps.
“What are you laughing at?”
“Ahem, anyway, just give it a try. If you’re afraid to speak at school, don’t you dare be afraid at home. Besides, no one will see you two going out on the weekend. Don’t worry, I looked into it for you—Omegas love these kinds of romantic movies. Good luck.”
Grinning, she stuffed the tickets into Xie Shuyun’s hand and gave her a thumbs-up. Without waiting for a reaction, she turned around and ignored Xie Shuyun no matter how much she poked her.
Xie Shuyun looked at the tickets in her hand and sighed. Cheng Lingxue wasn’t an ordinary Omega. At home, she mostly stayed in her room. They did eat together, but the meals were quiet affairs, after which she would immediately leave. Their communication was practically zero. Forget going to the movies; Xie Shuyun barely dared to ask her to go shopping.
All day, Xie Shuyun unconsciously touched the tickets in her pocket, appearing completely distracted. She didn’t even say a word during the car ride home. This caused Cheng Lingxue—who had grown somewhat accustomed to the other girl’s constant chatter and attempts to find topics—to glance at her several times in surprise.
Once they arrived home, watching Cheng Lingxue’s back as she headed upstairs without hesitation, Xie Shuyun scratched her head. Ultimately, she walked over to Qin Yu, who was currently inspecting the maids’ work.
“Qin Yu, these are for you,” Xie Shuyun said, stuffing the tickets from her pocket into the butler’s hand.
“Eldest Miss, this is…”
“Someone gave them to me. Didn’t you mention you recently got a girlfriend? Go watch it with her.” After saying this, Xie Shuyun didn’t wait for a response and ran upstairs, her footsteps thumping on the wood.
Standing at the top of the stairs, Xie Shuyun patted her chest. Having given the tickets away, she felt the weight on her heart finally lift. Now she could give Shang Yan an answer about what happened to the tickets.
What Xie Shuyun didn’t know was that Qin Yu was looking at the tickets forced into her hand with a thoughtful glint in her eyes.
That night, after finishing her homework and showering, Xie Shuyun lay lazily on her bed. If it weren’t for the “Scum Alpha” identity, this life would be so comfortable. Unfortunately, she couldn’t relax until she had corrected her image in Cheng Lingxue’s heart.
As for the timeline… she remembered that Cheng Lingxue meets the “Destined” Alpha in university. From then on, with that person’s help, she starts crushing her enemies, trampling over the scum, and enters a “soaring to the top” mode.
And as the leader of the scum, that was when the original Xie Shuyun began to taste the bitter fruits of her own actions. She rubbed her chin and clenched her fist in the air. There’s less than three years left. I can definitely do this…
On the other side, in contrast to Xie Shuyun’s laziness, Cheng Lingxue’s desk was already neatly tidied, and her items for tomorrow were packed. She stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in her room, the curtains pulled back slightly. The moonlight spilled softly over her.
Cheng Lingxue lightly raised her hand, looking at the moonlight in her palm. She closed her hand and opened it again; naturally, she caught nothing. She lifted her lowered eyes to look at the garden below. Illuminated by the moon, it was strikingly bright even without the lights on, showing clear signs of meticulous care.
Her usually calm dark eyes held a hint of daze. She seemed to think of something as a slight glisten appeared in her eyes, looking exceptionally bright under the moon. The tips of her fingers gripping the curtain turned slightly white. Her cold aura was now tinged with a bit of sadness and loneliness.
Buzz… The phone on the nightstand vibrated slightly, making the girl startle. she closed her eyes briefly and opened them again, returning to her usual state. She pulled the curtains shut and walked slowly to the bed to pick up her phone.
Seeing the message, her eyes flickered. She turned back to the desk, pulled her laptop from the drawer, and retrieved several files from her email. After a quick scan, her fingers began to move rapidly across the keys.
Page after page of documents was typed out and sent immediately, followed by replies. This back-and-forth continued for an unknown amount of time. Cheng Lingxue was so focused she nearly lost track of time.
Suddenly, a knock on the door made her fingers freeze and her brows knit slightly. She closed the laptop and pushed it deep under the desk, ensuring it couldn’t be seen from the doorway, before standing up to answer.
Cheng Lingxue opened the door a crack and quickly scanned the person outside. Seeing it was the butler, Qin Yu, she felt a slight sense of goodwill. Qin Yu treated her fairly and didn’t kick her while she was down despite Xie Shuyun’s past actions; sometimes, she even helped her.
“Butler Qin, is something the matter?”
“Ah, Miss Cheng, some strawberries were just imported today. I brought some for you; would you like to try them?” Qin Yu, who usually carried a sharp, professional air, now wore a brilliant smile. This expression caused Cheng Lingxue to pause before she could speak.
She looked at the small fruit plate in Qin Yu’s hand. It held seven or eight beautiful, bright red berries. Beside them were two thumb-sized small dishes, likely containing condensed milk and honey. It looked innocent enough.
“Thank you.” Cheng Lingxue took the plate. Just as she was about to close the door, Qin Yu spoke up quickly:
“Miss Cheng, please wait. I have to give you this as well.” As she spoke, Qin Yu pulled a pink envelope from her pocket, adorned with a rather fancy red ribbon tied into a large bow.
Looking at this object that clearly didn’t match Qin Yu’s professional image, Cheng Lingxue eventually reached out to take it.
“The Eldest Miss wanted to give this to you. She hopes you’ll like it. When you’re finished with the strawberries, you can leave the plate in the hallway and someone will collect it. I won’t disturb you further. Goodnight, Miss Cheng.”
“…Mhm… Goodnight…” Gently closing the door, Cheng Lingxue looked at the pink envelope. she glanced at the wall to her left—the direction of Xie Shuyun’s room. Xie Shuyun gave this to me?
A mocking smile surfaced on her face, yet she didn’t throw it in the trash. Sitting back at her desk, her fingertips lightly pulled the bow. The ribbon fell to the desk, ignored. She opened the envelope and took out the contents. Looking at the stack of papers, Cheng Lingxue’s eyebrows arched slightly.
It was two movie tickets, a couple’s limited set meal voucher for a Western restaurant, and a double-person discount coupon for a luxury drink shop.
Holding these four thin slips of paper, her expression showed no clear emotion. Suddenly, her eyes caught the address on the vouchers, and her fingertips tapped the desk for a moment.
She pulled out her phone to verify something. As she did, her tense face gradually relaxed. Joy, excitement, nostalgia, and guilt swirled within her until she finally broke into a brilliant smile, the likes of which almost no one had ever seen.
Moving her hand, she picked up a strawberry from the plate. Without dipping it in condensed milk or honey, she took a small bite. The initial tartness didn’t dampen her mood, and the sweet aftertaste that followed made the light in her eyes even brighter.
Forgetting her rule about not eating after dinner, Cheng Lingxue finished the entire plate of strawberries before letting out a long sigh.
She carefully wiped her hands clean and then gently smoothed out a corner of the voucher she had accidentally creased. She tucked them carefully back into the envelope and placed it inside a book. Once satisfied, she reopened her laptop and returned to her work.
Outside, Qin Yu looked at the closed door, then passed by Xie Shuyun’s room. She flashed an encouraging smile and pumped her fist toward the door.
Eldest Miss, this is as far as I can help you. The rest is up to you.
Xie Shuyun, who was just about to fall asleep, suddenly shivered. She rubbed her arms and looked around in confusion. She felt… a premonition that something was about to go wrong.
