After Transmigrating as a Scum Alpha, a Cold Omega Stole My Heart - Chapter 17
For the next few hours, Xie Shuyun and Cheng Lingxue were treated like literal dress-up dolls. It was only after trying on countless outfits that they were finally let go.
The two watched as Violet kept her head down, her expression serious as her pen flew across the paper, sketching and doodling, completely ignoring everyone else.
“That is the state she enters when inspiration strikes. No one is allowed to disturb her then. Once the design sketches are finished, we will show them to you. Your work for today is over; you may go home,” the Beta assistant said as she led Xie Shuyun and Cheng Lingxue out.
As the door closed behind them, Xie Shuyun scratched her head. Her gaze fell on Cheng Lingxue. Perhaps due to the high-intensity session of changing clothes—which was quite a bit of physical activity—a faint flush had colored Cheng Lingxue’s porcelain skin, making her look even more radiant.
This caused Xie Shuyun to involuntarily recall their earlier physical contact. She felt a sudden wave of bashfulness. Pursing her lips and nervously fidgeting with a stray lock of hair by her ear, she said softly:
“Lingxue, the driver had an emergency today. Qin Yu mentioned she could come pick us up, but I thought we could walk back for once… but if you’re tired, I’ll call her to come over.”
In truth, Xie Shuyun wasn’t the only one remembering the earlier scene; the outwardly calm Cheng Lingxue was as well. Looking at the silly girl in front of her, she gripped the handle of her schoolbag a bit tighter, her knuckles turning white. Only then did she suppress the rising frustration in her heart. Gritting her teeth, she slowly uttered two words:
“…No need…” After speaking, Cheng Lingxue turned around. Her ponytail swept across Xie Shuyun’s arm due to the momentum, leaving a trail of itchiness that made the words die in Xie Shuyun’s throat.
Xie Shuyun stared at her own arm for a while. By the time she snapped out of it, Cheng Lingxue was already a good distance away. She quickly jogged to catch up.
“Wait for me! It’s quite a walk home, you’ll get tired fast. Here, give me your bag.”
“I can manage myself,” a cold, low voice drifted back. Xie Shuyun belatedly realized that the person beside her seemed to be in a bad mood. She blinked in confusion.
It shouldn’t be my fault, right? She tried hard to remember if she had offended her, but after thinking for a long time, she couldn’t find a reason. If it wasn’t her, could it be that Violet’s joking had made her unhappy?
Thinking she had found the right direction, Xie Shuyun spoke up quickly:
“Lingxue, Designer Violet didn’t mean any harm. Don’t take her words to heart. You…” Halfway through, Xie Shuyun paused.
She couldn’t help but scan Cheng Lingxue up and down. She honestly thought the girl’s figure was already excellent for her age, but she didn’t dare say that out loud—it felt like it would be taken as sexual harassment.
However, things didn’t go as planned. In the silence, Cheng Lingxue stopped abruptly. The look she swept over Xie Shuyun was full of faint mockery and anger:
“Why stop? Go on.”
Watching the person in front of her shrink her head back like a coward under her gaze, Cheng Lingxue felt speechless. This person completely missed the point. But as for herself… she shook her head, took a deep breath, and thrust her schoolbag directly into Xie Shuyun’s arms. Since she wanted to carry it so badly, she could have it.
Subconsciously hugging the bag to prevent it from falling, Xie Shuyun blinked. She felt the other girl was even angrier now. What on earth was she supposed to do?
And so, a surprising scene appeared on the road: a cold, beautiful Omega girl walked gracefully like a noble princess, followed by a dashing Alpha girl who looked humble and acted as her personal bag-carrier.
This made the Omegas on the street look on with sparkling eyes, secretly glaring at their own unthoughtful partners. When they saw their Alphas looking at the “Alpha-servant” with a “you’re an embarrassment to us all” expression, they got even angrier. Some pulled ears, others pinched arms, deciding they needed to “re-educate” their partners once they got home.
Ignoring the groans and muffled cries around them, Xie Shuyun scanned her surroundings, hoping to find something that would cheer Cheng Lingxue up. Suddenly, her eyes lit up, and she ran to Cheng Lingxue’s side.
“Lingxue, it’s so hot. Let me buy you ice cream!” Her tone was pleading, and her brown eyes were full of anticipation, like a big dog wagging its tail, pawing at the ground for its master’s attention.
Seeing that head almost nuzzling into her face, Cheng Lingxue frowned and took a step back.
“Speak properly.”
Seeing that she was finally willing to talk, Xie Shuyun’s eyes sparkled. She pointed to an ice cream shop with a long line and said excitedly:
“That shop—I heard from Shang Yan that their Mixed Berry Sundae is amazing. Do you want to try it?”
“The line is too long.” Cheng Lingxue glanced over. Her gaze lingered on the sign’s illustration for a few seconds before she looked away. She shook her head, not immediately giving in. Compared to eating ice cream here, she just wanted to get home faster.
“It’s okay, it’ll be fast! Wait for me!” Xie Shuyun shouted as she ran toward the shop, occasionally looking back to make sure Cheng Lingxue hadn’t abandoned her. That “scared of being left behind” look made Cheng Lingxue’s breath hitch. Ultimately, she didn’t leave; instead, she found a spot in the shade and stood there quietly.
However, her looks soon brought trouble. A few loitering thugs spotted her. Unlike others who stayed away due to her “thousand-miles-away” icy aura, they approached with playful smirks, nudging each other.
“Hey, beautiful. I see you’re all alone. Want to come hang out with us?” The man pushed forward had a messy head of hair dyed emerald green. He grinned, revealing yellow-stained teeth. Cheng Lingxue turned her head away in disgust.
“Hey, don’t be like that. Hanging with us will definitely make your life more colorful.” The man wouldn’t take no for an answer, making several crude gestures. The other thugs laughed, their lewd gazes lingering on Cheng Lingxue.
“Hey, Da Hei, don’t say that. I recognize that uniform—she’s a rich miss from that noble school, isn’t she?” A red-haired man hooked his arm around the green-haired one’s neck and chuckled.
“Even better. We’ve been a bit short on cash lately. Maybe she can pay for the privilege of our company?” The green-haired man’s eyes flickered with lustful greed as he reached out to grab her.
A disgusting scent wafted toward her. Cheng Lingxue’s grip on her skirt loosened. Just as she was about to grab the “salty pig hand,” she caught something out of the corner of her eye. A flash of a smile crossed her eyes, and her tensed hand slowly relaxed.
The thugs mistook her lack of resistance for submission. The green-haired man let out a boisterous laugh, but in the next second, an intense pain in his abdomen made his face contort. His body buckled into a “V” shape as he was sent flying several meters, taking the red-haired man down with him.
The others watched in shock as their companion curled up like a shrimp on the ground, his face twisted in agony, unable to even scream. They looked up to see a long leg beside the girl they had just been leering at.
The leg retracted, and a spirited girl appeared. Her hair was a bit messy, she was panting slightly, and her cheeks were flushed—clearly, she had sprinted here. But looking down, her hands were carefully holding a glass cup.
Inside the glass were three large scoops of pink ice cream topped with a mountain of whipped cream, a heart-shaped berry filling in the middle, two wafer rolls, and surrounded by strawberry slices drizzled with chocolate sauce and sprinkles.
“Whoa…!” The girl stared intently at the whipped cream, moving her hands as the cream wobbled. Once she confirmed it was safe, she breathed a sigh of relief and turned to Cheng Lingxue with a brilliant smile:
“Are you okay? Are you hurt? I got the sundae! Thankfully it didn’t spill. Hurry and eat it before it melts.”
Looking at the thin layer of sweat on Xie Shuyun’s forehead and her sparkling eyes, Cheng Lingxue looked down at the sundae and finally reached out to take it.
It wasn’t light; it must have been a struggle to sprint while holding this. Cheng Lingxue let out a silent sigh. She could feel the coolness through the glass.
The condensation on the cup slid down her hand, causing a slight itch. She picked up the spoon, scooped a bit of cream and ice cream along with a strawberry slice and chocolate sprinkle, and carefully put it in her mouth.
The sweet, tart, and icy berry ice cream blended with the smooth cream, melting slowly on her tongue. The strawberries were handled perfectly, without any of the usual tartness, leaving only the fresh fruit aroma. Combined with the chocolate, it created a unique texture.
“It’s delicious.” The cold girl actually allowed her lips to curve into a rare, slight smile.
It was like ice melting into a gentle breeze—a different kind of beauty. Though she was always beautiful, this rare moment was even more captivating, making one instinctively want to chase and record every second of the change.
Xie Shuyun was exactly like that—she was completely dazed. Her slightly pink face slowly turned a deep crimson. She lowered her head, her voice stuttering:
“If you like it… that’s good… eat slowly… um… eat slowly…” As she spoke, she secretly fumbled for her phone in her pocket. She desperately wanted to take a photo of this scene to keep forever.
The two girls were surrounded by a “pink bubble” atmosphere, causing the passersby who had been watching the conflict to break into “shipping” smiles. Unfortunately, there were still a few here who couldn’t read the room…
The red-haired man, who was used to being the local bully, had never suffered such a loss, especially with people he had intimidated watching. Their mocking gazes felt like needles in his back. Flushed with shame and rage, he scrambled to his feet.
He waved his hand for the others to check on the green-haired guy. Facing Cheng Lingxue and Xie Shuyun with a vicious, furious expression, he roared:
“You bastards! Do you have any idea who I am? You dare hit my man? You must be tired of living!”
