After I Woke Up to Find I Had a Wife - Chapter 19
After thinking through a bunch of random things, Lin You waved her sleeves, finished signing and reviewing the documents, then impatiently went home.
The moment she thought about Monday coming tomorrow and having to go to work again, Lin You’s whole body resisted. She covered her head. She still had to hold on for twenty years before she could retire. It was so sad. Truly, tears drifted in the wind; those who heard it would grieve, and those who listened would weep.
While Fu Xinran was flipping through a book, the embarrassing and shy memory of Lin You from last night flashed through her mind.
Inspiration burst in her mind, and she spent the whole afternoon writing and drawing in her small study. She wanted to record all these memories.
With a smile on her lips, Fu Xinran placed her right hand on her lower abdomen, full of maternal glow and gentleness. “Baby, when you come out, Mommy will show you your Mami’s embarrassing moments.” Thinking of something, Fu Xinran’s eyes turned, and she lowered her head to draw again.
“Aunt Gui, where’s Ranran?” Lin You did not see her in the bedroom or living room after coming home, so she asked Aunt Gui anxiously where Fu Xinran had gone.
Aunt Gui covered her mouth, her eyes full of teasing and tolerance. She smiled until Lin You felt a little embarrassed before answering, “Madam is in the small study upstairs!”
Lin You scratched her head. She was already fearless now. Aunt Gui even seemed to prefer her relaxed and natural state, so Lin You gradually relaxed too.
“Sister Gui, the family head and Madam are becoming more and more harmonious. Back then, the old family head and Old Madam were like this too.” Uncle Li looked at the elevator moving up and down, his expression somewhat nostalgic.
Aunt Gui glanced at him, withdrew her smile, and said lightly, “They’re different. Don’t mention that again in the future. Youyou will get angry.”
The young chef carried over a bowl of clear soup that had been slowly simmered over low heat and placed it to the side. Chunsheng, who was waiting on the other side to take over, secretly scratched the young chef’s wrist, then happily carried the soup tureen toward the third floor.
Recently, Aunt Gui had promoted her to Fu Xinran’s side as a personal housekeeper, and she had been working very hard.
The young chef’s face turned red as she adjusted her chef’s hat. She was an Alpha, so she naturally knew what Chunsheng meant by doing that.
Over the past year, Chunsheng had occasionally teased her a little, but never went too far and never delayed their work. It was just that the young chef was only twenty-two, five years younger than Chunsheng, so she felt a little timid.
Although the two of them were not especially clingy, Aunt Gui was old and experienced and had long since seen through them. The Lin family also had no rule forbidding internal staff from dating. It was just inevitable that she would pay a little more attention.
Lin You changed clothes and was preparing to go to the gym when the elevator door opened with a ding. Chunsheng nodded and greeted Lin You.
“Is that for Ranran?” Lin You pointed at the soup tureen in Chunsheng’s hands.
Chunsheng said, “Yes, Family Head. This is the clear soup stewed for Madam.”
Lin You nodded. “Mm. Then give it to me.” Coincidentally, she had originally wanted to go see Fu Xinran but could not find a reason for the moment. Now, delivering the soup tureen was a perfectly good reason. Lin You nodded in satisfaction.
Chunsheng maintained just the right attitude and did not ask anything extra. She only said, “The clear soup has cooled for a while, but drinking it directly might still burn the mouth a little.”
“Mm, thank you.” A smile rose on Lin You’s face. She took the wooden tray and carefully walked toward the small study.
Chunsheng stood to the side and confirmed that the family head could steadily carry the soup away before pressing the elevator button and preparing to go downstairs.
She had to admit that the family head’s change was truly too great. She had come to work at the Lin family five years ago. At that time, Lin You had already taken over the Lin family for two years.
Back then, her sharpness had been fully exposed. In the entire Lin family, only Aunt Gui and Uncle Li could withstand the family head’s oppressive aura. Everyone else did not dare stay with her for too long.
The family head never scolded people. If someone made a mistake, as long as it did not cause an impact, she would not get angry. She would merely tell them coldly not to let it happen again.
Those who made serious mistakes would leave the Lin family the next day. Those who could serve in a family household like this were not ordinary people. For example, she and Aunt Gui had both graduated from butler schools. She came here in order to take over Aunt Gui’s position in the future.
The small study was simply decorated, even a little empty. Only the newly changed green plants in the corner added quite a bit of color to it.
Fu Xinran lay over the desk, inspiration surging in her mind. Six or seven sheets of design drawings were already placed on the desk, but she was still somewhat dissatisfied. They had not reached the effect she wanted most.
At this moment, Lin You had knocked on the door for quite a while but received no response. Holding the tray in one hand, she opened the door and saw someone lying over the desk in the middle of the empty study.
That slender, fair wrist was drawing rapidly. Lin You quietly approached with the tray. Today, she wore a loose racerback tank top and sports shorts, with two simple wrist guards on her hands.
Her whole person looked sunny and confident, carrying the bright texture of early spring. Her tall and slender body, paired with such clean and neat clothing, gave her a somewhat androgynous handsomeness.
Lin You stretched her head to look at the drawing. It looked like a pair of hands, yet also like intersecting wings. From another angle, it seemed like a deeply affectionate eye.
On the other few sheets were a combination of an angel and an infant. Looking diagonally, it became two hands, one on each side, protecting the angel and holding her from behind.
When Fu Xinran saw a shadow suddenly appear on the drawing, the pencil in her hand paused. She lifted her head back and saw Lin You seriously looking at the drawings on the desk.
The tray in Lin You’s hand was held high, and her whole body was twisted as she earnestly looked at the drawings on the table. She felt that Fu Xinran truly deserved to be the woman who dominated the whole field in the end. Her drawings were too beautiful.
From these design drafts, she saw love: a child, romance, and the self. Were people who played with art all this amazing? They could express their thoughts in another way.
When she turned her head, she saw a pair of smiling eyes looking at her, full of surprise. Lin You also smiled along. She lowered the tray she had been holding high and placed it in front of Fu Xinran.
“You draw really well. Are you hungry after drawing so much?” Lin You did not know what words to use to express her praise. In the end, she could only squeeze out one sentence: you draw really well.
Fu Xinran nodded and put down the pencil. “Are you staying with me?”
“All right.” Lin You looked around the small study but could not find a stool. The barren little study was full of artistic emptiness, but apparently could not accommodate a chair.
She lowered her head and looked at Fu Xinran’s chair. It was made of plain wood and was very upright, but sitting for too long would easily make the waist ache. Lin You began thinking about adding some comfortable sofas and stools for her, but without destroying this artistic feeling.
Fu Xinran opened the soup tureen, and a light, clear soup fragrance drifted out, making her feel a little hungry.
“Did the baby trouble you today?” Lin You leaned against the desk and watched Fu Xinran drink soup in a refined and elegant manner. Her movements were graceful without being affected.
“No. Our baby was very good today.” Fu Xinran glanced up and down at Lin You in her racerback tank top.
Being swept over by Fu Xinran’s gaze made Lin You feel uncomfortable all over. Could it be that what I’m wearing doesn’t look good enough? Lin You lowered her head and glanced at herself. There was no problem.
“You look rather distinctive dressed like this. I’ve only seen you dress like this when you played basketball. Is there finally going to be one more person using the gym at home?” Fu Xinran smiled.
Lin You looked at Fu Xinran’s bright eyes and white teeth, her lips red and soft. She swallowed unnaturally and lowered her head to touch her wrist in concealment. The past few days of exercise had produced a little result.
Lin You answered softly, “Mm.”
“Then go. Later, we’ll be going back to my family’s home. Before you leave, I’ll trouble Family Head Lin to bring this down for me.” Fu Xinran had drunk about half a cup and could not drink anymore.
Lin You swept a glance over it and frowned. She stared at Fu Xinran. “Drink a little more. Aunt Gui said you barely ate lunch.”
Fu Xinran shook her head. She really could not drink anymore. Lin You also could not force her, so she could only tell Aunt Gui to prepare small meals more often and make delicious things for Fu Xinran to eat at any time.
“Do you want fruit?” Lin You picked up the tray and asked dryly.
Seeing Lin You being so careful, stretching her head around near the wall and looking everywhere, Fu Xinran only found her cute. She waved her hand. “Hurry and go exercise.”
“All right.” Lin You reluctantly closed the door and walked downstairs. “Xiao Zhao, later, cut some fresh fruit and give it to Chunsheng so she can bring it to Ranran.” The young chef heard Lin You’s instruction and poked her head out from the kitchen, agreeing cheerfully.
Fu Xinran watched the study door close. After waiting for a while and seeing that no one pushed it open again, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and pulled out two pages of four-panel comics from under the six or seven design drawings.
On them was a chibi version of Lin You hugging someone, and a miserable figure sliding down from under the bed. There was also a person sleeping sweetly with arms wrapped around her waist. Fu Xinran tapped the Lin You on the drawing.
“Hmph. Your performance today wasn’t bad, so I’ll let you off.”
In the gym, Lin You first warmed up, but her attention was never focused. Fu Xinran’s figure kept floating through her mind.
The system hid in its own space and felt that this could not go on. The progress was too slow. If everything relied on Fu Xinran taking the initiative alone, Fu Xinran would become tired after a while too.
It had to think of a good method to advance the mission line. Otherwise, who knew how long it would take to complete the mission?
