After I Woke Up to Find I Had a Wife - Chapter 6
The instant the lights were turned off, Lin You lay perfectly straight on the bed. Beside her was the sound of another person breathing.
On her very first night here, she had already achieved the accomplishment of sleeping in the same bed as a beauty.
Lin You stared at the dim ceiling and let out a small yawn. Wiping away the tears at the corners of her eyes, she had thought she would be unable to sleep, that she would not be used to it. Unexpectedly, in less than a minute, she fell asleep.
Before sleeping, both Lin You and Fu Xinran had changed into new pheromone patches, and quite a bit of their respective pheromones had drifted out.
A faint trace of pheromones flowed through the air. It was slightly bitter, carrying a hint of lingering tea fragrance. The aftertaste was rich, with a little sweetness returning at the end.
This was Lin You’s pheromone scent. It was a very rare tea fragrance. When it blended with Fu Xinran’s pheromones, it was like a freshly brewed cup of tea, waiting to be tasted, making one linger and forget to leave.
Smelling this reassuring pheromone scent, Fu Xinran closed her eyes, her face rosy and her breathing light, as if she were savoring tea.
Lin You smacked her lips in her sleep, sleeping very happily. Her body turned, and she ended up facing Fu Xinran.
Warm breath was right by her ear. Fu Xinran’s heart suddenly jumped, as if it had missed half a beat. All of a sudden, she forgot how to breathe.
Her pale lake-blue eyes quietly gazed at the person sleeping sweetly. The one who usually kept strangers away now looked like an innocent child, smiling without the slightest defense. Who knew what she was dreaming about?
There was even a smile at the corner of her mouth. This was the first time Fu Xinran had lain beside Lin You while both of them were clear-headed.
Fu Xinran turned her head slightly, her gaze faint as she looked at the person who usually stayed far away from her.
“So you’re not always unchanging even when you sleep,” Fu Xinran murmured softly.
Her slender fingers traced Lin You’s features through the air, but she did not dare move closer. The moment Lin You’s breathing grew heavier, Fu Xinran immediately withdrew her fingers.
With red ears, Fu Xinran turned to the side. She bit her lip in annoyance, no longer wanting to face Lin You.
In her sleep, Lin You thought she had dreamed. She dreamed that she had transmigrated into a book. When the dream ended, she saw her beloved big dog plush pillow and happily rubbed against it.
Ahhh, I knew it! I knew it! Everything was a dream.
Lin You, whose mouth was almost splitting open from smiling, woke up right on time when her biological clock rang.
The warm, soft feeling in her arms made her love it to death. She tightened her arms and buried her head, rubbing hard. After rubbing for a while, Lin You suddenly raised her head.
Something felt wrong.
She propped herself up with her right hand and only then realized that she was holding a person in her arms. She remembered now. Last night, she and Fu Xinran had slept together.
Then the person in her arms was…
My heavens! (Yue Yunpeng shocked JPG.)
No wonder it felt so good. She was holding a soft, delicate person. How could it not feel good?
Lin You’s breathing paused. Looking at Fu Xinran in her arms, whose brows were slightly furrowed and whose eyelids were trembling, Lin You carefully bent down, trying not to wake her.
She did not want to die of social embarrassment!
This was the first time in her life that she had slept while holding a soft, sweet-smelling woman. In the past, she had only loved her dog plush pillow.
Lin You flattened her movements and lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling in despair. Her whole body felt uncomfortable.
Fu Xinran’s furrowed brows smoothed out, and she leaned against Lin You’s arms to continue sleeping. It had been a long time since she had slept so easily and felt so safe.
Half an hour later, seeing that Fu Xinran was still dreaming, Lin You finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin You held her breath and slowly, carefully pulled her arm out from under Fu Xinran’s neck. Her arm had been used as a pillow for an entire night and had long since lost all feeling.
Lin You silently screamed with a twisted expression, hugging her numb and aching arm. Just as she was about to get out of bed, Fu Xinran also woke up.
Fu Xinran rubbed her long hair and slowly sat up, leaning against the headboard.
Lin You’s face heated up. Fortunately, she had just woken up too, so nothing unusual could be seen.
She pretended nothing had happened and stubbornly put on a smile, raising her intact left hand. “Hi. Are you hungry?”
Fu Xinran shook her head. She did not want to speak. She lifted the blanket, put on her shoes, and went into the bathroom.
Fu Xinran, who had just woken up, had not yet regained her usual cold distance. Instead, she carried the softness and charm unique to a mature woman.
Last night, after Aunt Gui learned about the doctor’s instructions, she directly made the decision for the young couple to sleep together. Without stopping for a moment, she arranged for people to move all of Fu Xinran’s things into Lin You’s room.
Lin You had been rather casual about it. After all, she had already promised to sleep together with Fu Xinran. Moving their things together was only normal.
But she had not expected herself to be so dishonest in her sleep, hugging the other person for an entire night.
Lin You used her left hand to tap open her phone. It was only a little past six. So early.
But as a domineering CEO, she had to get up. Beneath her were still a whole crowd of employees crying out to be fed.
Skipping work was impossible. Even if she was a duck being forced onto the perch, she still had to go.
Inside the bathroom, Fu Xinran’s face was bright red, so red that it had spread down to her neck and was still showing signs of continuing downward.
She had actually woken up when Lin You woke up. Thinking about how she had taken the initiative last night to pull open Lin You’s arm and lie in her embrace, her face burned.
Originally, she had only wanted to lie there for a while. She had not expected that she would actually fall asleep.
She also did not know how to face Lin You, so she could only continue pretending to sleep.
Fu Xinran took a deep breath, wanting to calm her burning face and her heart that would not stop pounding.
This was the first time she had done something so improper. Fortunately, Lin You thought she had been the one to hug her. Otherwise, Fu Xinran would not know how to face her.
No, that was not right. They were legal wives. What was wrong with hugging once?
Right. It was nothing. Fu Xinran took several deep breaths, trying hard to brainwash herself and stop the shy, unspeakable shame in her mind.
It was all because Lin You’s pheromones smelled too good. Fu Xinran pushed all responsibility onto Lin You’s pheromones being too pleasant, causing her to do such an improper thing.
This was the first time since Fu Xinran had grown up that she had taken the initiative to let an Alpha hold her while sleeping.
Lin You knew nothing about Fu Xinran’s inner conflict. She only felt that it had been a close call. Wiping away nonexistent cold sweat from her forehead, she thought she had finally muddled through it.
Otherwise, if the two of them had opened their eyes at the same time, she would probably have had to dig out an entire house just to hide from the awkward social death.
“Cough. Ranran, it’s still early. Sleep a little longer. I’ll be going to work soon. If anything happens, call me.” Lin You hesitated outside the bathroom for a while before still speaking softly to Fu Xinran. Then she left.
Fortunately, the body she had transmigrated into belonged to a rich person. The cloakroom was not inside the bedroom. Otherwise, things would have been awkward again.
There were still more than two hours before work. After washing up, Lin You went to the gym on the second floor. After warming up, she exercised for an hour.
“Tsk, tsk. I really didn’t expect it. The original body wasted such a good physique and was actually such a weakling.” Lin You complained to the system. Her arms hung limply as she walked into the bathroom, covered in sweat.
The system also felt that the original body had wasted it. In this book, Alphas were set as beings at the top of the biological chain.
High-level pheromone suppression and powerful bodies had been uniquely advantageous in the harsh environments of the past.
But that past was far too distant. Modern Alphas were only a little stronger than ordinary people and had slightly better physical qualities. The control and evolution of pheromones had also liberated Alphas quite a bit, so they did not have to worry about falling into uncontrollable fights or bonding heat at any moment.
Technology, systems, and culture were necessary conditions for social progress, as well as necessary conditions for human evolution.
Lin You stood under the shower with her eyes closed. She did not dare look. The extra flesh below actually had a physiological reaction. This was so hard. As soon as the hot water hit, it stood up. Ahhh…
If not for the curves on her upper body, she would barely have been able to comfort herself.
Lin You raised her head and let the water wash over her sore, tired body. She was a little dissatisfied with this body’s condition. In the future, she had to train properly. At the very least, she could not lack the muscles she should have.
Although she had retired, she still had a heart ready to charge into battle at any time.
But right now, she even felt disgusted washing it by hand. She suddenly understood the original body just a tiny bit. Seeing such a troublesome body really did make one feel disgusted.
The system expressed that it could not see anything. Everything was covered in mosaics. But it sensed that the host’s mood was not very good. Unable to understand, it could only hide.
After showering for half an hour, the alarm on her phone rang again and again. Only then did Lin You grit her teeth and, feeling like some kind of pervert, quickly wash herself once.
Last night, she had not felt much because she had not showered. Dressing and undressing had not given her much feeling either. Going to the bathroom was barely tolerable. But once she showered—wu, the feeling was far too obvious.
She was very familiar with the human body, but only limited to other people’s bodies or corpses.
With great difficulty, she kept her head tilted back and finished washing. Then she put on a well-fitted suit and applied light makeup. Once her hair was blow-dried, the handsome and dazzling Lin You came back to life.
She remembered someone once saying that if one day they woke up with a certain extra thing, the first thing they would do was something indescribable.
But for someone who had been single since birth for over twenty years, it was too difficult.
“Family Head, there is still one hour until the first morning meeting. Shall we depart now?” The personal assistant, who had been waiting in advance, stood half a meter away from Lin You and bent slightly as she asked.
“Let’s go. I’ve eaten almost enough. Aunt Gui, Ranran is still sleeping, so keep the porridge warm.” Lin You put down her chopsticks, took the coat Aunt Gui handed over, and went out.
Hearing Lin You’s words, Aunt Gui’s face filled with smiles. She happily agreed and sent Lin You out.
Sitting inside the specially customized Rolls-Royce felt truly comfortable.
However, Lin You had to maintain the original body’s persona. She sat perfectly upright, noble and cold, with her eyes closed, listening to the assistant report today’s work schedule.
At the Lin Group headquarters, twenty people sat in the large conference room. They were all project leaders of the Lin Group.
Today, they were here to report the progress of their work to Lin You. Lin You arrived at the conference room exactly one minute before the meeting began.
The assistant pushed open the door, and everyone stood up in unison. Lin You gently raised her hand, signaling for everyone to sit. Only then did they sit down one after another.
She sat at the head seat. Once the bell rang, the meeting began.
“President Lin, and all executive directors, good morning. This is the report for the Sirius Project…”
“President Lin, and all directors, good morning. This is the report for the Anshi Project…”
“President Lin…”
For the entire morning, Lin You sat upright in the head seat, listening to everyone’s reports. Occasionally, she put forward the opinions and questions given by the system, and even pointed out data errors and reprimanded people.
By the end, if the meeting had not concluded quickly, she would have wanted to faint.
With so much data, project procedures, and progress, just listening to it all made her want to sleep.
The more exhausted she was, the more casual and effortless she appeared. Lin You had long been used to never letting others see through her true state, no matter how tired she was.
Only after all the assistants and secretaries had left did she weakly lean back against the comfortable chair.
“Wasn’t it said that domineering CEOs only needed to say embarrassing lines like, ‘Woman, you have successfully angered me’?” Lin You asked the system listlessly. Even the strands of hair on her head drooped down.
“Is that so? Look at the richest people in your world. Don’t they all have less hair the richer they get? Look, they’re nearly bald. That proves being a domineering CEO isn’t easy, right?” The system perfunctorily comforted Lin You. It was about to finish upgrading soon.
“Don’t fool me. Bill Gates has less hair because he’s old.” Lin You waved her hand weakly.
“Host, I’ll finish upgrading tonight. After the upgrade is complete, I’ll fall asleep for two days to patch myself. You must hold on by yourself.” The system swished its tail and poked its head out from the spatial passage, giving Lin You a mechanical smile.
From that smile, Lin You somehow saw ingratiation. Heaven knew how she managed to see ingratiation from a ball.
“What if I encounter an emergency?”
“…Persistence is victory?”
Lin You: “…”
