After the Fake Young Master Ran Away with His Child, the Villain Went Crazy - Chapter 12
When Jing Ruan woke, he was lying on an unfamiliar bed. An IV patch was stuck to the back of his hand, and the drip had already finished.
Jing Ruan crawled out from under the blanket and sat up on the bed. As his gaze swept around the room, he spotted Yan Yi He near the balcony. Yan Yi He held a book in his hand, reading, with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on the bridge of his nose.
His whole person looked like a gentle young gentleman who had stepped out of a painting.
Yan Yi He heard the movement and lifted his head to look toward Jing Ruan. Seeing that Jing Ruan was awake, he lightly said two words.
“Come here.”
His tone was very gentle, but Jing Ruan knew it was an order.
After what had happened this time, Jing Ruan had thoroughly understood that Yan Yi He’s temper was difficult to predict. He never knew when Yan Yi He would suddenly turn hostile and become angry, so he did not dare show the slightest negligence toward anything Yan Yi He said.
Jing Ruan put on his slippers and walked over. He stopped beside Yan Yi He, and only after coming closer did Jing Ruan clearly see that Yan Yi He was wearing pajamas. He was tall and had a good figure, like a perfect clothes rack. No matter what he wore, it looked like formal attire.
Yan Yi He lifted his head slightly, indicating for Jing Ruan to lie across his knees.
Jing Ruan looked at his signal and thought for several seconds before understanding what he meant. So he crouched down and sat on the carpet, placing both hands on Yan Yi He’s knees.
Jing Ruan thought he seemed like a dog.
But Yan Yi He thought he was a mouse.
A mouse would not understand human speech the way he did, nor would it know how to lie obediently like this. Jing Ruan’s thoughts accidentally drifted very far, until Yan Yi He’s right hand pinched his chin and brought him back to himself.
“Do you feel wronged?”
Yan Yi He lifted Jing Ruan’s chin, making Jing Ruan look into his eyes.
Jing Ruan shook his head.
Everything he had now had been given to him by Yan Yi He.
Yan Yi He smiled. He was pleased from the bottom of his heart. His luck was good; he had picked up Jing Ruan. He liked this obedient pet that could be shaped however he wished. Unlike those lofty people, who wanted this and that, taking benefits while still wanting to keep their backbone. Even if they reluctantly submitted, they would secretly calculate little tricks in their hearts.
Yan Yi He placed the book on the nearby table. Then he picked up a necklace covered in gemstones from the table beside him. He bent down and raised his hand, putting the jeweled necklace around Jing Ruan’s neck.
The gemstones were colorful and extremely beautiful. Under the light, they refracted dazzling radiance. Anyone who saw it would be unable to keep their eyes from being drawn to its glow.
After Yan Yi He fastened the necklace for Jing Ruan, he placed both hands under Jing Ruan’s arms. With one lift, he easily picked him up and settled him in his arms.
“Do you like it?”
Yan Yi He asked him.
Jing Ruan lowered his head and looked at the necklace around his neck. This jeweled necklace was bigger and brighter than the gemstones Yan Yi He had given him before. Even an ignorant outsider like Jing Ruan could tell that this necklace was extraordinary.
“Is it valuable?”
Jing Ruan asked him.
Jing Ruan did not care how beautiful the treasure was. He only cared whether it was valuable, whether it could be exchanged for money, and whether, if he had no money in the future, he could sell it for cash.
Yan Yi He did not get angry at Jing Ruan’s blunt question. He knew Jing Ruan had grown up in that kind of environment, and because of that, he lacked a sense of security when it came to money. He needed money. He needed a huge amount of money.
As for things he did not recognize, he had no certainty about them.
Even if they were given to him, he did not know how much they were worth.
He only knew they were valuable, but where their value lay, he did not know. So he would always want to confirm again and again: was this thing truly valuable?
Yan Yi He did not answer that question. Instead, he asked Jing Ruan another one.
“Why do you want to learn academics? Didn’t you refuse to study before?”
Yan Yi He knew Jing Ruan had studied a little before, but later stopped. Recently, after listening to Tao Wan’s words, he had begun studying again.
“Sister Tao Wan said that if I learn more, I can find something to do by myself in the future. I can earn money on my own.”
Jing Ruan answered honestly.
Deep in Jing Ruan’s heart, there was always an unreal sense of panic. He was afraid. Afraid that when he opened his eyes, everything would be gone.
So he remembered the suggestion Tao Wan had given him. He wanted to work hard and learn something. That way, even if he had nothing in the future, he could still earn money by himself and fill his stomach.
Yan Yi He stretched out his index finger and tapped Jing Ruan’s heart.
“Little mouse, you don’t even have courage here. No matter what you study, you won’t learn it well. At the slightest disturbance, you’ll be afraid. What are you studying for?”
Jing Ruan felt that Yan Yi He was truly smart and powerful, as if he would always be that calm and unhurried, capable of everything. Jing Ruan raised his hands and wrapped his arms around Yan Yi He’s neck. For the first time, the thought of clinging to him rose naturally.
“Mr. Yan, teach me.”
Jing Ruan pleaded with him quietly. Seeing that Yan Yi He remained unmoved after hearing this, Jing Ruan pressed closer to him. He leaned his head forward and kissed Yan Yi He on the side of his face.
“Mr. Yan, teach me, all right?”
Jing Ruan asked again, and as he asked, he kissed him again.
Jing Ruan’s kisses were light and soft, like a dragonfly touching the water. For the first time, Yan Yi He felt a thought arise. As for raising someone like Jing Ruan, there was nothing else he could compare it to.
The skin of Jing Ruan’s lips was warm and soft.
Yan Yi He stared at Jing Ruan’s lips for a few seconds.
Then he wondered inwardly whether different people would offer the same experience. But then he thought that, up until now, he had not yet taken a liking to the next person who suited his wishes.
Yan Yi He reached out and pressed his finger against Jing Ruan’s lips, as if investigating some serious question. His fingertip slowly felt the soft flesh of Jing Ruan’s lips.
Then his finger moved inward toward Jing Ruan’s teeth.
He examined and observed carefully.
Jing Ruan’s lips parted, unable to close.
Saliva gathered in his mouth and clung to the intruder’s finger.
Yan Yi He withdrew his finger and wiped the saliva on Jing Ruan’s collar, leaving a dark, damp mark on the fabric.
“I can teach you, but I don’t want what happened yesterday to happen again. I don’t like seeing marks from other people on a pet I’m raising, and I dislike even more seeing thoughts shaped by someone else.”
Yan Yi He clearly told Jing Ruan what his position was in his eyes. He disdained using grand-sounding words to placate Jing Ruan.
If he wanted to raise a pet, naturally, he would raise one that was obedient and could clearly understand its own place. He already dealt with enough matters and enough people every day. He had found Jing Ruan only to relax his mood and please himself.
Jing Ruan nodded to show he understood.
Yan Yi He stood while holding Jing Ruan. Jing Ruan was startled by his movement and hurriedly wrapped his arms around his neck to keep his balance and avoid falling. Only when Yan Yi He carried him out with one arm did Jing Ruan realize that Yan Yi He’s arm strength was frighteningly powerful.
Carrying an adult like him, Yan Yi He walked without the slightest effort. His breathing did not become the least bit disordered. It was truly as if he were carrying a small cat or dog.
In ordinary times, Yan Yi He’s outward image was gentle and refined, so everyone overlooked the sharpness of his own body. Or perhaps it was something he intentionally hid away.
Yan Yi He carried him to the study. He set him down by the desk, then walked around to the chair behind the desk and sat. After sitting down, he searched for something in the lowest drawer.
After searching for a few minutes, he finally found a folder.
Yan Yi He opened the folder, then indicated for Jing Ruan to come over and look. Jing Ruan jumped down from the desk and walked to stand beside Yan Yi He.
“This is the smallest subsidiary company under the Yan family. One week from now, I’ll have someone take you there. From now on, you’ll be the person in charge of this company.”
“I’ll assign two bodyguards and one assistant to follow you there. They won’t make any decisions for you. Whether you can gain a firm foothold will depend on your own ability.”
Yan Yi He spoke as lightly as though it were nothing.
Jing Ruan looked at the document and felt as if a pie wrapped in poison had been placed before him, forcing him to make a choice. He did not know anything. How could he manage a company well?
Would those people scold him? Would they make things difficult for him?
“I’ll shape a human skin for you and let you borrow the tiger’s might. Why are you thinking about whether you can do it? You should be thinking about how I can make them obey.”
“As for disobedient people, just throw them out.”
“Jing Ruan, this is your first step.”
“A coward is worse than an arrogant idiot. Anyone can step on the former. As for the latter, people will only keep a respectful distance and maintain surface-level friendliness.”
“Even if you don’t know anything, you can still shout and tell everyone that if you’re bullied, you’ll come back and complain to me.”
Yan Yi He slowly taught Jing Ruan. Power would allow a person to slowly transform from the inside out. Once one tasted the power to control others, desire would push them forward step by step.
Jing Ruan stared blankly at the file under his hand. At some point, his hand had gripped it tightly. Yan Yi He’s words were like candy wrapped around arsenic, bewitching the heart.
Jing Ruan could not bear to refuse that piece of candy.
Jing Ruan thought back to the street where he had once lived. There had been a thug on that street. He had a weapon in his hand, one he had picked up from who knew where. He had been lucky enough to find that weapon.
Because of that, everyone on that street feared him and hid from him. He had even deliberately locked a chain around an adult’s neck and led that person around like a dog.
If anyone disobeyed, they would immediately lose their life and become a corpse with no breath left.
Yan Yi He watched Jing Ruan slowly come back to himself, then hug the folder tightly in his arms as if afraid someone would snatch it away.
A smile appeared in Yan Yi He’s eyes. He pulled Jing Ruan over and held him in his arms, lowered his head, and kissed Jing Ruan’s forehead. Then his kisses moved downward, all the way to Jing Ruan’s eyes.
“So obedient.”
Yan Yi He felt soothed inside. He had never been as excited as he was now. It had been a long time since he had felt this kind of emotion.
“I’ll teach you how to write your own name.”
“The first step is that you have to know how to write your own name. That way, it’ll be convenient for you to sign contracts and documents. As for how to distinguish what should be signed and what shouldn’t be signed, that depends on how you figure it out yourself. I won’t teach you everything.”
Yan Yi He took a pen. Holding Jing Ruan in this posture, he had Jing Ruan grip the pen, then wrapped his own hand around Jing Ruan’s and taught him how to write.
Jing Ruan had taken a tiny bit of lessons before. On the first day, he had learned how to write his own name. He did not write it very well; it came out crooked and uneven.
Yan Yi He taught him with great patience.
And so, in Yan Yi He’s study, Jing Ruan wrote the two characters of his name again and again. He practiced for three hours. The floor and desk were covered with discarded sheets of paper, all filled with Jing Ruan’s name.
Outside, the sunlight was bright. It shone through the window and into the study. Inside the study, there was only the sound of breathing and the soft scratch of the pen tip falling on paper.
Jing Ruan wrote with great seriousness, not finding it dull at all.
The name under his pen—
Jing Ruan.
It was the key to his next step.
