A Fishing-Type Omega Always Wants to Possess Me - Chapter 16
Love?
At the sound of that word, the corner of Jiang Zhi’s eye lifted slightly. Then undisguised mockery spread through her pupils.
The smile was as cold as something tempered in ice. It flashed through her eyes and vanished in an instant, as though the word were too cheap to deserve another moment of her attention.
“Without my permission, don’t even think about moving out of this house.”
Jiang Zhi’s voice was soft, yet exceptionally certain.
She released Yu Mianzhou’s lips, but her fingers slowly slid down along the line of her jaw and stopped against the artery at the side of her neck, feeling the pulse beating beneath the skin.
“You know I have plenty of ways to make sure of it.”
Yu Mianzhou had never doubted Jiang Zhi’s methods.
She had been born at the very top of the pyramid and raised within the coldest and most ruthless of families. That frail, harmless face and those eyes that always seemed veiled in faint moisture were nothing more than beautiful skin wrapped around a vicious heart.
Yu Mianzhou sighed softly.
The sound was almost inaudible, yet in the deathly silent room, it rang with remarkable clarity.
She asked with almost perfect calm:
“Then what do you want me to do before you’ll agree?”
That insignificant sigh was like a fine needle unexpectedly piercing Jiang Zhi’s heart, sending a dense wave of sour, stagnant pain through her chest.
She stared blankly at Yu Mianzhou as an absurd sense of grievance churned inside her.
Why wasn’t she angry?
Had Yu Mianzhou lost her temper, frowned and scolded her, or even spoken coldly, Jiang Zhi could have used it as an excuse to make an even greater scene and force her to stay with sharper, crueler words.
But Yu Mianzhou had no temper at all.
She behaved as though she were soothing an unreasonable child, and that made Jiang Zhi feel unbearably uncomfortable from head to toe.
The tear inside her heart seemed to widen further and further. A freezing wind poured through the crack, nearly penetrating every limb and bone in her body.
Even her voice grew colder when she spoke again.
“Break up with that woman.”
Yu Mianzhou’s eyelashes did not so much as move.
“Impossible,” she replied lightly.
Jiang Zhi seemed to have expected that answer. There was no surprise in her eyes, only a deep, oppressive darkness.
Her fingers slid down from Yu Mianzhou’s neck. Then she seized her hand and forcefully, irresistibly pressed it against her own slender throat.
“You know how to put me in a good mood.”
Holding Yu Mianzhou’s hand, Jiang Zhi guided her fingers into slowly tightening.
The pressure was not particularly strong, but it was enough to create a distinct feeling of suffocation.
Jiang Zhi’s gaze immediately became unfocused. Her long lashes trembled violently, and all her usual coldness and venomous resentment faded away, leaving behind something close to devout intoxication—
Only beneath Yu Mianzhou’s palm could she react this intensely.
Only then could she feel that she was alive.
The lack of air made her breathing quicken. Her chest rose and fell faintly, and her lips turned a delicate pink. She resembled a succubus who had crawled back from hell as she whispered weakly beside Yu Mianzhou’s ear:
“If I’m in a good mood, perhaps… I’ll agree.”
Yu Mianzhou watched Jiang Zhi take her hand and begin playing with it in this way.
No matter how calm her face remained, she still could not stop the faint tightening of her lips.
She was about to speak when—
Knock, knock, knock—
A sudden series of knocks came from outside.
Yu Mianzhou’s back instantly stiffened.
The knocking continued for several seconds before Gu Wanlan’s uncertain voice came through the heavy door.
“Mianzhou, are you in your room? I have a few things I’d like to discuss with you regarding last night’s project proposal. Could you open the door?”
Yu Mianzhou instinctively tried to pull her hand away.
But Jiang Zhi held it tightly, her fingertips nearly digging into the back of Yu Mianzhou’s hand.
Not only that, but her other hand slipped directly beneath the hem of Yu Mianzhou’s shirt and accurately pressed against the hollow at the small of her back.
Her little dog was always so disobedient.
But that was all right.
Jiang Zhi had endless patience. She would teach her to behave again and make sure her eyes held no one except Jiang Zhi.
Soft lips landed lightly against Yu Mianzhou’s neck, carrying a faint coolness as they kissed and rubbed against her with deceptive tenderness.
Just as Yu Mianzhou understood Jiang Zhi’s body, Jiang Zhi knew every one of her weaknesses.
She merely brushed lightly against Yu Mianzhou’s collarbone, and Yu Mianzhou’s breathing grew heavier beside her ear. Her attempts to struggle slowed, and the strength gradually left her movements.
The person outside appeared to be losing patience.
Perhaps Gu Wanlan had confirmed someone was inside yet could hear no response, because the knocking grew increasingly urgent.
“Mianzhou? Are you there? Did something happen?”
Anxiety entered Gu Wanlan’s voice.
The next second came the click of the door handle turning.
The person outside was actually trying to push her way in.
Jiang Zhi glanced at the shaking handle.
Rather than showing the slightest panic, she lifted one hand and lightly rested her slender fingers upon the cold metal lock.
She raised her eyes and looked into Yu Mianzhou’s, which had already become slightly dazed.
Her voice dropped extremely low, like a devil’s private whisper against the shell of her ear.
“This is not the time for you to hesitate.”
“If you refuse, I’ll open this door and let Gu Wanlan see what we look like right now.”
Again.
Jiang Zhi was always like this.
She spoke and acted entirely according to her own desires, never considering the consequences.
And yet every one of her kisses landed with perfect precision, light as a dragonfly touching water, each one finding exactly where Yu Mianzhou was sensitive and sending ripples through her body.
Separated from them by only a thin door, Gu Wanlan’s repeated calls behind her seemed like some forbidden aphrodisiac.
The desire Yu Mianzhou had forcibly suppressed for so long was nearly ready to burst through the earth.
Feeling how hot the body before her had become, Jiang Zhi lifted her head and moved to kiss those lips again.
But at that moment, Yu Mianzhou suddenly raised a hand and pulled a small blister pack of pills from her pocket.
Her movement was astonishingly quick.
She efficiently peeled one tablet free, tipped back her head, and swallowed it.
Just as before, the medicine took effect almost immediately.
The desire surging through her eyes vanished in an instant, leaving only the silence of a glacier.
The bitter scent of medicine spread between them.
Jiang Zhi lost focus for only a second.
In the next instant, their positions were reversed.
Yu Mianzhou covered Jiang Zhi’s mouth with one hand, suppressed the itch in her throat, and spoke toward the door in a low voice.
“Sorry, Miss Gu. I was packing and didn’t hear you. You—”
Before she could finish, she suddenly let out a faint gasp, her breathing dropping heavily.
Lowering her eyes, she saw Jiang Zhi slowly and gently licking the center of her palm with the tip of her tongue.
The heat was astonishing.
It traveled from the pads of Yu Mianzhou’s fingers upward, leaving a wet, burning sensation. At the same time, Jiang Zhi looked up at her through reddened eyes, her gaze seductive and silky, desire and provocation intertwined within it like poisoned honey.
The soft sweetness of lychee spread from Yu Mianzhou’s palm through every part of her body, causing the end of her sentence to tremble despite her efforts to control it.
Outside the door, Gu Wanlan froze when she heard the sound.
Packing?
But that voice…
Why did it sound wrong?
As an Alpha, her instincts were extraordinarily sharp.
A very faint scent lingered beneath her nose—
The pheromones of another Alpha.
They had been suppressed to an extremely low level, yet for one instant just now, they had abruptly intensified before rapidly disappearing again.
How could that be?
Hadn’t Aunt Jiang told her that Yu Mianzhou was merely a Beta?
Or was there someone else inside the room?
And perhaps it was only her imagination, but she also seemed to detect the faintest trace of sweet lychee…
Gu Wanlan lowered her eyes, her lips tightening into a straight line.
“I see.”
She paused.
When she spoke again, her tone had lost its previous gentleness.
“Could you open the door so we can talk?”
She knew that insisting someone open their door was extremely impolite.
But Jiang Zhi’s room downstairs had not responded at all…
Driven by an instinct she could not explain even to herself, she felt that she had to make Yu Mianzhou open this door and confirm the situation with her own eyes.
Otherwise, this strange sensation would haunt her day and night and never allow her peace.
Her fingers tightened around the door handle until they turned white.
Inside, silence fell once again.
The air on the third floor seemed to have been filled with cement. Time and space became motionless, and even breathing grew difficult.
Gu Wanlan stood outside, uncertain and alarmed.
Her fingers had already left the handle, yet they remained suspended in the air.
The unease in her heart grew stronger and stronger, nearly overpowering reason and giving rise to the impulse to break down the door.
Then—
Click.
A soft sound.
The lock opened from the inside.
