A Rich Family’s Matrilocal Alpha Married to a Vegetative Omega - Chapter 8
“What is it?” Ye Fan asked, her curiosity piqued.
Qin Shujian didn’t elaborate, simply stating: “It’s just a small favor, it won’t be difficult—right now, you should worry about how to get my mother to agree to let you out.”
“Ah… does Housekeeper Su not even have the authority to decide that?” Ye Fan was greatly disappointed, but she knew that what Qin Shujian said was the truth.
She sighed and spent some time pondering her move.
Downstairs, Su Yu was reporting to Qin Wan. Both were somewhat surprised; after all, Ye Fan hadn’t caused any trouble for the past few days.
Qin Wan frowned, sensing something was slightly off. However, she didn’t believe a powerless, neglected Alpha like Ye Fan could cause any significant waves. She decided to ignore it, merely instructing Su Yu to regularly check both their bodies to ensure optimal conditions for pregnancy.
Su Yu nodded in agreement. Just as Qin Wan was about to say more, several servants hurried downstairs, looking at Su Yu with panicked expressions. Su Yu’s face immediately darkened.
Sensing the silence on the other end, Qin Wan simply hung up the phone. In a moment of silent understanding between master and servant, Su Yu put down the phone and headed upstairs.
The moment she reached the top floor, the veins in Su Yu’s temples began to throb.
She scanned the bedroom, which was now a complete mess, and called out Ye Fan’s name in a cold, measured tone: “Miss Ye Fan, have you gone mad?”
Ye Fan, who was currently throwing a tantrum, shivered when she heard that voice. But she stole a glance at Qin Shujian on the bed, hardened her resolve, and yelled with her eyes closed: “Housekeeper Su! I am very serious. I’ve had enough of these restrictions over the past few days. I can’t take it anymore!”
With that, Ye Fan provocatively smashed a cup. The moment the porcelain shattered, Su Yu immediately called for the bodyguards to restrain her.
…Wait, this isn’t how it was supposed to go!
Ye Fan panicked. She grabbed the corner of a nearby table and screamed with her eyes shut: “Housekeeper Su! It’s useless even if you force me!”
“I have no money, no power, and I have a physical defect. You couldn’t even get money if you sold me, unless you kill me right now—but 200 million! Can you really bear to let 200 million yuan go down the drain for nothing?!”
Su Yu clearly heard that Ye Fan wanted to negotiate, but she merely raised an eyebrow, having no intention of humoring her.
Instead, she spoke to the bodyguards right in front of Ye Fan: “Is the sedative ready? Inject her the moment you catch her.”
Ye Fan: “?!”
For a split second, Ye Fan was ready to chicken out. She didn’t want to be jabbed with another needle. But just then, she clearly heard Qin Shujian let out a forceful “cough.”
Su Yu’s expression remained unchanged, but Ye Fan gritted her teeth and suppressed the urge to surrender. She remembered clearly—they were partners.
Before the chaos began, Qin Shujian had said she needed help with something. Ye Fan could only blame herself for not asking for the full details of the plan, but now that things had reached this point, stopping would make it even harder to cause a scene next time. Ye Fan steeled her heart.
“Housekeeper Su! I think you should reconsider. What good does giving me a sedative do? An Alpha’s pheromones are affected by their health. Setting aside whether I can take it, what if it affects the pregnancy?”
In a moment of desperation, Ye Fan suddenly saw the light. The one thing this master and servant pair cared about most was the child, which was exactly why Qin Shujian had suggested she make a scene.
The Qin family couldn’t find another gene-matched, easily controlled Alpha to replace her in a short time. This had been her weakness before; now, it was her strength.
Even if her Alpha body was defective, so what? At the very least, her IQ and appearance met Qin Wan’s standards. Where else could they find such a compliant Alpha on such short notice?
Ye Fan took a deep breath. She saw Su Yu pause. The woman frowned, her gaze toward Ye Fan becoming quite unfriendly.
This indicated that Su Yu truly hadn’t expected her to argue so logically at a time like this. Does this count as a small step toward success?
It must be, Ye Fan thought, nodding vigorously to give herself confidence. “Housekeeper Su, I don’t want to make things difficult for you. I don’t have to leave this place forever, but I need a way to relieve my boredom—rather than being trapped here without ever seeing the sun.”
Hearing this, Su Yu sneered. “Miss Ye Fan, I advise you not to push your luck. The life ordinary people dream of is simply having food brought to their mouths and clothes to their hands. How is your situation any worse?”
“It’s true for ordinary people,” Ye Fan retorted, using a bit of wit. “But aren’t I the mother of your Qin family’s heir? Can’t I even fight for this small right?”
Su Yu’s face was dark as she remained silent. Seeing a glimmer of hope, Ye Fan immediately resumed her tantrum.
The sound of things smashing echoed incessantly. The nearby bodyguards didn’t dare move, waiting for a sign from Su Yu.
Ye Fan was secretly peeking, but when she realized Su Yu really wasn’t going to stop her, she felt a bit uneasy. She stopped and shouted: “If you really can’t do it, then just kill me! What’s the difference between staying here forever and being dead? Anyway, if I die, you won’t achieve your goal!”
Actually, Ye Fan wasn’t sure if Su Yu would actually take action; she was just talking big. To her surprise, it actually bluffed Su Yu.
Su Yu hadn’t expected to be slapped in the face so quickly after telling Madam that “Ye Fan has been very well-behaved lately.” She certainly didn’t dare to “dispose” of Ye Fan. No matter what trouble Ye Fan caused, one thing was absolutely true.
—She was, after all, the mother of the future Qin heir. Even if they wanted to “keep the child and discard the mother,” that had to be predicated on the child being born successfully first.
Clearly, the Qin family didn’t have the technology to bypass the need for her yet, and Imperial Law wouldn’t allow such a blatant disregard for Alpha human rights.
Thinking of this, Su Yu looked at Ye Fan with a cold face. “I will report this to the Madam. But until then, Miss Ye Fan, please wait patiently and stop damaging the Eldest Miss’s personal belongings. Otherwise, your liquidated damages will increase several times over.”
That’s a threat, isn’t it? That’s definitely a threat!
Ye Fan’s usually slow brain worked at lightning speed. Without thinking, she blurted out: “I’m sorry, but I’ve already waited a long time. I can’t wait any longer.”
“Even if I have to pay damages, there’s nothing I can do. Housekeeper Su, you investigated me, so you should know best—I don’t have a penny to my name, only my life!”
Having said her piece, Ye Fan held up a vase, looking at Su Yu defiantly.
With an ashen face, Su Yu finally relented. She personally called Qin Wan and reported: “Madam, Miss Ye Fan wants to go out.”
The response from the other end was decisive: “Refuse her. Isn’t it clearly stated in the contract? She doesn’t have that freedom. Su Yu, how can you not even handle such a small matter now?”
Before she could finish, Ye Fan smashed the vase directly onto the floor. The sound was clearly transmitted through the phone to Qin Wan’s ear. She fell silent instantly.
Ye Fan stood with her neck stiff, looking at them without saying a word. Soon, Qin Wan’s voice returned: “Tell her to wait there.”
It didn’t take long for Qin Wan to rush over. Ye Fan was still in the room facing off against Su Yu. Beside them lay the seemingly oblivious Qin Shujian. The floor was a mess, littered with various fragments that the servants didn’t dare come up to clean.
Qin Wan couldn’t even find a place to step. She looked up and glared at Ye Fan, her expression uncharacteristically losing control: “Ye Fan! Have you truly gone mad? Every single item on this floor—even if I took you apart and sold you, you couldn’t afford to pay for them!”
Truth be told, Qin Wan’s aura was much more imposing than Su Yu’s. That single sentence made Ye Fan’s scalp tingle.
But if she gave in now, wouldn’t all her effort go to waste?
She gritted her teeth and retorted: “I couldn’t afford them anyway! I couldn’t pay back even a cent of that much money, so why should I care about this?”
Qin Wan sneered and threatened: “You can play the ‘broken pot’ if you want, and it’s true you can’t pay, but then you can go to jail. Do you really think my Qin family can’t deal with a rogue?”
Jail… JAIL?!
Ye Fan’s pupils shook. She thought: Qin Shujian didn’t mention this!
And was this contract actually legal?!
She had always felt that a contract involving this much coercion should be illegal, which was why Qin Shujian had dared to say the Qin family wouldn’t dare kill anyone…
Ye Fan was panicking inside, but she maintained her facade.
“So what? At worst, I’ll lose my freedom for half my life. Isn’t it the same staying with you? Compared to being here, at least in jail I wouldn’t have to get jabbed every day, and I’d have time for activities and sunshine! I’d rather go to jail!”
She stuck to her guns, arguing with Qin Wan like a total rogue. The tactic Qin Shujian had taught her was being realized in a slightly different way.
Fortunately, the effect seemed decent. Qin Wan’s expression was extremely ugly as she glared at Ye Fan. “Don’t push your luck!”
That means there’s hope for negotiation!
Ye Fan perked up and took the opportunity to push further. “I don’t think I’m pushing my luck. Am I wrong? How is this place any different from a jail cell? Aside from being bigger and having a better environment?”
To hear the Qin house described as a jail cell made Qin Wan’s nose twitch with rage. She suppressed her anger to renegotiate with Ye Fan.
It seemed that only now did Qin Wan finally take Ye Fan seriously. After several rounds of back-and-forth, she finally compromised.
Seeing this, Su Yu stepped forward tactfully to conclude: “You may go out. But give up on the idea of going out alone; that is non-negotiable. Also, you cannot eat whatever you want. All your meals are strictly calculated by the nutritionist.”
Ye Fan’s expression didn’t change as she stuck to one line: “If I go out and can’t eat, there’s nothing to talk about.”
The group fell into a momentary silence.
Qin Wan truly didn’t have the time to keep haggling with Ye Fan. She gave her a fierce glare. Deep down, Ye Fan was terrified, constantly chanting to herself for courage.
