After Being Transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder Scum Alpha - Chapter 6
Is it the decay of morality? Or the distortion of human nature? What was it that made Her Grace the Duke—who had barely slept all night and had been in bed for less than an hour—reappear in the living room?
It was “Yun Qi’s” confidante—the Omega megastar, Jin Mo.
The guards informed Yun Qi of Jin Mo’s arrival. After a moment’s thought, Yun Qi told them to let her in.
During the birthday banquet, Jin Mo had waited and waited, but that aloof and proud woman never appeared at the entrance.
She had stood at the center of the party, appearing calm and indifferent on the surface as if she didn’t care at all whether Yun Qi showed up. When other Omega stars inquired subtly or overtly, she only gave a faint smile, suggesting the Grand Duke might have been held back by other matters. But only she knew how hard it was to maintain that facade!
After “Yun Qi” had promised to come, Jin Mo had “accidentally” leaked the news while chatting with her Omega star friends, causing a stir of envy and excitement in the Omega circle. One had to know that “Yun Qi’s” Alpha chauvinism was never hidden; she looked down on social activities between Omegas. She had only ever appeared at birthday banquets for Omegas of the Imperial Yun family; she ignored everyone else’s.
Though “Yun Qi” had many ambiguous relationships with Omegas, she never participated in their private social circles. Jin Mo was her only exception.
Jin Mo originally thought “Yun Qi” was truly delayed by something else, or simply wanted to sleep and didn’t feel like going—anything, as long as she didn’t appear at the Lin family home, in the place where Lin Chen was.
But after Yun Qi appeared at the Lin house, Jin Mo’s juniors began calling her one after another under the guise of asking for acting advice, only to “casually” bring up Yun Qi’s whereabouts.
Since they weren’t face-to-face, she had been unable to maintain her dignified smile on her end of the line.
After staying home for a few days without Yun Qi coming to find her, she finally couldn’t restrain herself and came looking.
Yun Qi looked at the Omega before her. Her large brown waves were as thick as seaweed, and her light gray eyes appeared somewhat indifferent. Her skin was ivory white, and she wore a pure white off-the-shoulder gown that teased a glimpse of her beautiful collarbones.
She truly lived up to the title of the Empire’s number one beauty. However, in Yun Qi’s eyes, she wasn’t nearly as comforting as her own little Omega. The person in the bedroom was usually dull or indifferent, yet in her sleep, she would subconsciously rub her cheek against the back of your hand. When held, she would keep squeezing into the depths of the embrace. When she woke up, her eyes were dewy and bright like a dazed little hamster. To Yun Qi, the person who had been startled by her pushing the door open was much more pleasing and satisfying to look at.
“Little Scum, my treasure, are you there?”
[Whatcha want?]
“!” Yun Qi was shocked. “Why has the way you talk changed?” Through that mechanical electronic voice, Yun Qi actually detected a thick Northeast Chinese accent. She had felt it during the conversation before sleep, but it was even more obvious now.
[You’re allowed to hold your little cutie, but I’m not allowed to watch dramas when I’m bored? Did you consider my feelings when you were kissing and hugging last night?] The system blasted Yun Qi like a machine gun.
“Uh…” Thinking of last night’s scene, Yun Qi suddenly felt a bit guilty.
[Good thing my senior prepared a lot of movies for me, otherwise I wouldn’t know what to do in this little black room.] The system sighed with emotion. A senior is indeed a senior, planning ahead so well. At first, it hadn’t understood why movies were included in the prep.
The topic was drifting, so Yun Qi decided to pull it back.
“A Scum Alpha should be heartless to everyone, right, Little Scum?”
[Of course.] The system sounded a bit annoyed. [Hurry up and make up for the Scum Value you cost me yesterday! I’m only 13 points away from the System Mall!]
“There’s actually a System Mall?” Yun Qi was surprised.
While Yun Qi’s inner self was “pleasantly” chatting with the system, the external atmosphere was frozen.
The arrogant Duke stared at the Omega, leaning lazily back on the sofa without speaking, as if waiting for the other party to explain her reason for coming.
Jin Mo waited a long time. Seeing that “Yun Qi” had no intention of speaking, she had to open her mouth first.
“Ah Qi, why didn’t you come to the birthday banquet last time?” The Omega looked at Yun Qi with some grievance, acting as if she didn’t know the news of Yun Qi appearing at the Lin house.
“My friends all admire you so much. They were so disappointed not to see you at the party.” It had to be said, light gray eyes paired with a soft voice were indeed a lethal weapon.
The expressionless Duke slowly fiddled with the ring on her finger. “Before I got together with you, didn’t I say I didn’t want you interfering with my decisions?”
“Or rather, in what capacity are you coming to see me?” The Duke raised her head, looking at the pale-faced Omega.
Jin Mo was a bit afraid of Yun Qi like this. She had thought she was different. Although she had heard that Yun Qi treated Omegas as disposable—hating it when they clung to her—the previous gentleness “Yun Qi” showed her had given her the illusion that the Alpha had truly fallen for her.
“I just… I was just worried about you.”
“A ‘great beauty’ star of the Empire shouldn’t be illiterate. Or rather, she shouldn’t be deaf or blind.” The Alpha sneered, amused by the other’s obvious lie.
Tears welled up in the Omega’s eyes.
But the wicked Duke didn’t show a hint of being moved.
“I said I like Omegas who are a bit more obedient, not the type who run into an Alpha’s home early in the morning wearing revealing clothes, right?” The Alpha on the sofa sat up, asking the Omega with a smile.
Yun Qi was a bit bored. She had zero desire to understand Jin Mo’s current psychological state. If it weren’t for the Scum Value, she would still be in bed.
In the plot, the woman before her wasn’t as weak or innocent as she appeared. She had contributed to several of Lin Chen’s beatings, and the bet between “Yun Qi” and her friends had actually been suggested to the “bros” by this very Omega. Just thinking about the whip marks on the little Omega when she first arrived made Yun Qi’s heart ache uncontrollably.
Furthermore, for some reason, she felt that Jin Mo’s behavior sometimes resembled Lin Chen’s—as if she were deliberately imitating her, but only catching the form and not the spirit, losing that inherent cuteness.
[Ding! Scum Value +27. Congratulations to the Host for obtaining the title ‘The Alpha Version of Hong Shixian.’ Also, the System Mall is now open. Please choose to open it now or later.]
“Open it when I’m back in the bedroom.”
Click.
Lin Chen walked out of the bedroom, wearing loose loungewear, looking a bit dazed at the scene before her.
Yun Qi suddenly felt a bit guilty. Her wife comes out of the bedroom only to find her Alpha with another Omega, who is currently teary-eyed… what kind of melodramatic urban soap opera is this!
Seeing Lin Chen come out, Jin Mo pulled back her aggrieved expression and the tears in her eyes. She didn’t want to lose face in front of this person.
“Shouldn’t you be heading back?” The Alpha was completely unaffected, still looking at the person before her.
Jin Mo nodded and left in a sorry state.
She seemed… a bit afraid of Lin Chen? Yun Qi was puzzled. Someone who had been refusing to leave suddenly left so decisively upon seeing Lin Chen.
“Your health is certainly impressive.” The Duke looked at her wife with a fake smile, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Fainted yesterday and already out of bed today? Are you looking to visit another hotel?”
Last night, when she was holding Lin Chen, the little Omega was still breaking out in cold sweats, frowning and whispering about being cold. When she went to Lin Chen’s room this morning, the little Omega had woken up so early, and now she appeared in the living room wearing such thin clothes. She really didn’t know how to take care of her own body.
Although Yun Qi’s words were harsh, Lin Chen heard the hidden concern within them.
She had been in bed in a daze when she heard a familiar voice—the Omega “Yun Qi” used to bring home. Before, she hadn’t cared, or rather, caring wouldn’t have helped. But now, she suddenly found the voice of this intruder in the mansion to be grating, so she came out in her loungewear.
“I want to go see Xi’er. I didn’t sleep with her last night; I’m afraid she’s scared.”
!!!
Yun Qi suddenly remembered that in the plot, Lin Xi didn’t start sleeping alone until she was eight. Yesterday, she had carried Lin Chen back and completely forgotten about Lin Xi.
“Can you come with me? Xi’er has always wanted a hug from Mother.” The little Omega spoke hesitantly.
“I haven’t done anything that would lead you to make such an assumption—for instance, that I like that child?” The Duke smiled mockingly.
“I’m sorry…” The little Omega left with a look of disappointment.
Yun Qi felt a bit apologetic. A child should grow up bathed in the love of both parents.
Perhaps she could check the Mall to see if there were any gifts children like?
Yun Qi returned to her bedroom. Suddenly, a snowy owl appeared before her, holding a letter in its beak. It dropped the letter on her head and vanished. She opened the letter; it was a Mall Pass. As the name “Yun Qi” gradually materialized on the pass, a virtual mall appeared before her.
“…Did you watch Harry Potter?” Yun Qi asked suspiciously.
[Yeah, isn’t it cool?] The system sounded quite proud.
“It is.”
It looked a bit like Earth’s Taobao. The mall listed products one after another: Basic Body Strengthening Agent, Basic Pheromone Disruption Agent, Basic Disguise Agent, Basic Revelation Agent… A dazzling array of strange goods. Some she couldn’t even identify by name, but they all had one thing in common: they were grayed out. Yun Qi couldn’t afford them.
At the bottom of the mall was a Scum Value total. Yun Qi’s current total was only 49, while the cheapest item in the mall was priced at 88 Scum Value.
Yun Qi felt a “billion” bits of despair. She closed the mall and flopped onto her bed, feeling isolated. Sleep! There is nothing sleep cannot cure. When she woke up, she would be a hero once more.
