After Transmigrating Into a Book, I Became That Omega - Chapter 7
After finishing breakfast, the group headed to the athletic field together.
Since the enrollment for the Literature Department was so low, their assembly point was actually right next to the Astronomy Department’s.
Once he reached the field, Sang Yuan greeted his counselor and began checking off the attendance list. Out of twenty people, eighteen were present; the two Omegas were missing. He checked the time; it was nearly 7:00 AM, and there was still no sign of them.
Sang Yuan pulled out his phone and dialed Ning Beibei’s number, but no one answered. Frowning, he called Lin Chun. It rang several times before finally being picked up.
“Hello, Student Lin? This is Sang Yuan. It’s almost time for assembly. When will you and Ning Beibei arrive?”
“Oh, it’s the Monitor! Soon, soon! Just wait a moment for us.” Lin Chun spoke hurriedly and hung up immediately.
“What did they say? Where are they?” Yu Feng kept checking his watch. He had explicitly stated in the meeting that no one could be late today. How could they be like this? The Yun City Base had strict requirements—arrival times were non-negotiable and delays were not permitted.
“Teacher Yu, let me go check on them. I’ll bring them here as fast as I can.” Sang Yuan shoved the class placard into Fang Yuandong’s hands and took off running.
“Hey, Sang Yuan! Don’t you be late either!” Yu Feng shouted after him. Sang Yuan waved a hand high in the air as he ran to show he understood.
Ji Tang watched Sang Yuan run off and then slowly retracted his gaze. This roommate of mine really is bursting with energy at all times.
Running all the way to the Omega dormitory, Sang Yuan checked in with the dorm manager and dashed up to the fourth floor.
In Room 402, Ning Beibei was still preening in front of the mirror. “Hey, Lin Chun, do you think this lipstick is too red?”
“Beibei, we really need to hurry. It’s almost seven.” Lin Chun looked at the time, getting anxious.
“What’s the rush? We’re the only two Omegas in our class. Do they really dare to leave without us?” Ning Beibei twisted his body in front of the mirror, thoroughly satisfied with the “peerless beauty” staring back at him.
Clang! The door to Room 402 was kicked open. Both of them looked at Sang Yuan in shock as he stood in the doorway.
“Monitor? Why are you here?” Lin Chun stood up quickly, feeling a bit guilty.
Sang Yuan checked the time. “Ten seconds. Grab your things and follow me downstairs, or I’m deducting credit points directly.”
“On what grounds can you deduct our credits?!” Ning Beibei shrieked, staring at Sang Yuan in disbelief.
“Seven, six, five, four…” Sang Yuan ignored him, eyes fixed on his watch as he counted down.
“Ah—!” Ning Beibei screamed, reluctantly pushing his suitcase forward. Lin Chun, being practical, was already standing by with his luggage.
“Now, double-time it. If you aren’t at the field in five minutes, your credits are gone.” With that, Sang Yuan grabbed both of their suitcases—one in each arm—and sprinted out.
“Ah! My cosmetics!” Seeing Sang Yuan vanish from sight, Ning Beibei panicked and chased after him. Those were expensive, international brand cosmetics!
Lin Chun hurriedly locked the door and ran after them. He definitely didn’t want his credits deducted.
Five minutes later, Ning Beibei and Lin Chun arrived at the field, panting for breath. Sang Yuan was already standing at the front, holding the class placard with an air of composed calm. Ning Beibei gave Sang Yuan a furious glare as he reclaimed his luggage; Sang Yuan glanced at him but didn’t take it to heart.
Soon, all departments were assembled. A fleet of buses was parked by the field, and students began boarding in batches. Since the Literature Department was so small, they had to share a bus with another group.
A bus could seat forty-nine people. Each Astronomy class had sixty students across three classes; the overflow students were merged with other departments for the ride.
“Sang Yuan, I just got notice that I have to attend a meeting. I’m leaving the class in your hands,” Yu Feng said hurriedly as he boarded the bus. “Remember to call me if anything happens.”
“Got it, Teacher Yu,” Sang Yuan replied.
Ji Tang boarded the Literature Department’s bus and immediately saw his roommate sitting in the front row, wearing headphones and listening to music.
“Oh! You’re on this bus too?” Sang Yuan’s face lit up with a pleasant surprise. “Come, sit here!”
Ji Tang nodded and took the seat next to him. Several Omegas who had been surreptitiously admiring Ji Tang since he boarded watched with regret as the handsome Alpha went to sit with a Beta.
“That Sang Yuan is really annoying.” Ning Beibei had been fixing his clothes, hoping to catch Ji Tang’s eye, only to watch Sang Yuan call him over. He already held a grudge from the morning’s incident; now, he couldn’t stand the sight of Sang Yuan at all.
“Want to listen?” Sang Yuan took off one earbud and looked at Ji Tang.
Ji Tang looked down at the earbud in Sang Yuan’s hand. The small device looked particularly nice held in Sang Yuan’s dainty fingers.
“Thanks.” Ji Tang took the earbud. Their fingertips brushed, sending a brief sensation of warmth. He put the earbud in, and a soft, gentle melody began to play.
He was surprised. For someone who seemed so boisterous, Sang Yuan listened to such soothing music.
The Omegas on the bus continued to steal glances at Ji Tang. As an Alpha who excelled in every aspect, he was undoubtedly the most dazzling person in any crowd. However, at that moment, he was just leaning his head to the side, watching Sang Yuan, whose head was repeatedly thumping against the window as he dozed off.
Sang Yuan had fallen asleep. His face, which people often overlooked because of his bright smile, now looked exceptionally soft and “moe.” After a moment’s thought, Ji Tang reached out to steady Sang Yuan’s head and rested it against his own shoulder.
As if sensing a more comfortable support, Sang Yuan unconsciously nuzzled against Ji Tang’s neck.
The voyeuristic Omegas nearly had their eyes pop out. Heavens, I didn’t expect this Alpha to be so gentle—he’s even kind enough to look after a Beta! Such an Alpha made their hearts race even faster.
Ning Beibei’s face flushed as he stared at Ji Tang, wishing he could push that head off Ji Tang’s shoulder and lean there himself.
Ji Tang looked at Sang Yuan with a hint of confusion. Strange, why do I smell orange soda again? Is there still residue from yesterday? He tried to sniff again, but the scent was gone, as if it had been a hallucination.
Ji Tang grew even more puzzled. Since his secondary differentiation into an Alpha, his sense of smell had been exceptionally sharp. This was the first time something like this had happened. A thought flashed through his mind—perhaps he really had smelled it wrong. He closed his eyes and drifted into sleep as well.
