Carrying My Senior's Coffin (GL) - Chapter 21
Fang Yiyi felt that Li Ting was truly furious this time.
So furious that she had not even allowed Fang Yiyi to finish washing herself.
Warm water sprayed from the showerhead, making it impossible for Fang Yiyi to open her eyes. With her sight obstructed, all her other senses became unusually sharp.
Li Ting’s body temperature was just like that Buddhist bead—icy cold, like a thousand-year-old block of ice that constantly radiated frost.
Sometimes, when Fang Yiyi accidentally touched her, the sudden cold would make her shiver.
But inside the bathroom, it was different.
The warm water poured over Li Ting’s cold skin, lending it a trace of warmth. It became smooth and soft to the touch, like warm, fragrant jade.
Wherever she touched, she stirred up sparks, provoking tremors from the deepest parts of Fang Yiyi’s body.
Fang Yiyi’s breathing grew heavy as her reason slowly dissolved.
Unconsciously, she wrapped her arms around Li Ting’s neck and let out soft, trembling sounds like a cat.
When the atmosphere reached its peak, tears slipped from the corners of her eyes.
Outside the bathroom, Fang Yiyi’s familiar ringtone began to play.
Through the sound of running water, she vaguely heard it, and a little awareness returned.
“Focus.”
Li Ting’s voice was low and sensual.
As punishment, she bit Fang Yiyi’s ear.
Fang Yiyi’s body trembled, and after that, she could no longer think about the phone.
Unfortunately, the caller was persistent.
After three unanswered calls, the person arrived in high heels, carrying a dripping umbrella, and began pounding on Dormitory 404’s door.
The knocking was loud and urgent, as though the visitor intended to smash the door down if no one opened it.
“Fang Yiyi! I know you’re back! Open the door!”
“If you don’t, I’ll use my key and open it myself!”
Director Tong’s sharp voice rang out at the same time.
There was no way the people inside could pretend not to hear.
Fang Yiyi: “…”
She carefully glanced at Li Ting’s expression.
As expected, it was so dark that water seemed ready to drip from it.
“I’ll answer the door…”
Fang Yiyi panted lightly as she tried to steady her breathing.
She supported herself against the wall and stood up. There were still red marks on the outside of her arms from where the sink had pressed against them.
Li Ting grabbed a bath towel from nearby and threw it over Fang Yiyi’s head.
“Wait here,” she said darkly.
Then she stepped across the water-covered floor and left the bathroom.
The instant she took her first step, her long red robes seemed to condense out of the air and immediately covered her body.
Her presence was overwhelming.
Fang Yiyi was completely dazzled.
She blinked, pulled the towel off her head, wrapped it casually around her body, and followed a few steps behind.
Holding the doorframe, she cautiously poked her head out to secretly observe.
She had a feeling she was about to witness something interesting today.
Still damp from the bathroom, Li Ting walked toward the door.
The pounding continued as she approached, growing even more forceful.
Without hesitation, she pulled the door open.
Even from a distance, Fang Yiyi could clearly see Director Tong’s face go blank.
The hand raised in midair froze as though someone had pressed pause.
“Li… Li Ting.”
Director Tong stared at her in a daze.
Her pupils trembled, then widened.
Her expression shifted from wild delight to panic in the blink of an eye.
She took half a step backward, hurriedly smoothed her hair, and tugged at her crisp business shirt, clearly dissatisfied with her appearance.
Li Ting said nothing.
She leaned against the doorframe with her arms folded, waiting for Director Tong to finish fussing, although her expression remained unpleasant.
Realizing that no amount of adjusting could suddenly change her clothes, Director Tong asked carefully, “Li Ting, do you… do you still remember me? I’m…”
“Tongtong.”
Li Ting’s voice was cold and emotionless.
“I knew you hadn’t forgotten me. I’m so happy. Really…”
Director Tong smiled.
Her eyes curved, and tears shimmered within them.
Her hands twisted the hem of her shirt nervously in front of her.
Instead of a capable twenty-nine-year-old woman, she looked more like a fourteen- or fifteen-year-old girl experiencing her first awakening of love.
Fang Yiyi startled herself with that thought.
A bold suspicion surfaced in her heart.
Could Director Tong… be in love with Senior?
The realization made her inexplicably irritated.
Her grip on the doorframe tightened until the pads of her fingers turned white.
“I… I’ve always wanted to come see you. I knew you were here, but Sike told me that unless that person came, otherwise…”
“What do you want from me?” Li Ting interrupted her.
“Say whatever you came to say, then stop coming here.”
Director Tong finally noticed Li Ting’s impatience.
She immediately fell silent.
Biting her lower lip, she looked at Li Ting sorrowfully, mist gathering in her almond-shaped eyes.
“You never used to chase me away…”
Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Li Ting sighed.
With forced patience, she said, “Tongtong, some things never existed before, and they never will.”
“Besides…”
She paused.
“The living and the dead walk different paths. Stop clinging to this obsession.”
“I don’t want to hear that. What do you mean, the living and the dead walk different paths?”
Director Tong wiped away her tears and stubbornly stared back at Li Ting.
Her expression gradually became frantic.
“Then why is she allowed?”
“I didn’t know you liked women before. I never dared to say anything because I was afraid you would avoid me.”
“I finally… finally…”
“I waited for so long.”
“Why is she allowed to stay by your side and be with you?”
Biting her lower lip, she asked resentfully, “How am I inferior to her?”
Fang Yiyi felt that the “she” Director Tong referred to was definitely her.
She silently added in her heart:
We’re not together.
I’m only her food.
The kind she keeps around for the long term.
Then Fang Yiyi worried that Director Tong crying in the hallway might attract the attention of other students.
What if people gathered around to watch?
The instant that thought appeared, Fang Yiyi felt warmth gather around her eyes.
A thin layer of mist gradually covered her vision.
Countless tiny red lights appeared throughout the dormitory.
When she looked toward the doorway, the red glow had gathered there and formed a thin half-circle.
It resembled an enormous soap bubble blown outward from the doorframe, enclosing both Director Tong and Li Ting.
“…”
That… looked like a barrier.
Fang Yiyi pouted.
She had worried for nothing.
Li Ting had prepared for this long ago.
She claimed she did not want to meet Director Tong, but now that they had met, she was still being considerate.
Li Ting had never been this considerate toward her!
Her hand tightened around the doorframe.
Their conversation continued.
Li Ting seemed to have heard something amusing and curved her lips into a cold smile.
“Whether she’s allowed or not isn’t something you understand.”
“I truly don’t like women.”
Li Ting raised her hand and rubbed her thumb across her lips.
Her eyes narrowed slightly.
The soft, warm sensation still lingered there.
“But Fang Yiyi is rather good.”
Director Tong’s face turned deathly pale.
“I don’t believe it. That makes no sense.”
“I’ve known you for so long. I was here first!”
As though trying to convince herself of something, she began repeating those words under her breath.
“I was here first… I was here first…”
In contrast, Fang Yiyi’s face turned bright red.
She lowered her head and patted her burning cheeks.
Senior seemed to have praised her?
Li Ting glanced toward the small head peeking out from inside the dormitory.
“There is no first or last.”
“I’m already dead. Accept that fact and stop doing meaningless things.”
“Is there anything else?”
“If not, leave.”
“Don’t come again. I’m busy.”
Director Tong followed Li Ting’s gaze.
At last, she noticed Fang Yiyi peeking from beside the bathroom.
Fang Yiyi had wrapped the towel beneath her arms.
From Director Tong’s angle, all she could see were Fang Yiyi’s bare shoulder blades and arms, along with her wet hair.
But none of that was the main issue.
The blue and purple marks scattered across Fang Yiyi’s pale skin were painfully conspicuous.
Li Ting had not dried herself either.
The entire ghost was soaking wet.
What the two of them had been doing earlier was obvious.
Director Tong’s expression grew even uglier, taking on a gray, defeated cast.
Her body swayed as though she could barely stand.
She retreated several steps and asked in disbelief, “What were you two doing?!”
Fang Yiyi accidentally met Li Ting’s gaze when Li Ting glanced back.
Caught spying, she guiltily looked away.
Her blood seemed to rush backward, and her mind buzzed from embarrassment.
She did not even realize that Director Tong had already seen her.
Only after hearing the question did Fang Yiyi raise her head.
She discovered that Director Tong was already standing at the edge of the barrier.
One more half-step backward and she would leave it entirely.
Li Ting curved her lips into a dazzling smile and slowly said, “Doing exactly what you think.”
Fang Yiyi: “…!!!”
It was as though a depth charge had exploded inside her tiny pond, leaving her dizzy and unable to tell what day it was.
No, this…
How could she…
Say it so directly?!
Were all ghosts this shameless?!
Then Fang Yiyi saw Director Tong take another half-step backward, completely removing herself from the barrier.
“Fang! Yi! Yi!”
Director Tong’s eyes were red as she pronounced Fang Yiyi’s name one syllable at a time through gritted teeth.
Fang Yiyi had the illusion that the woman wanted to bite her to death.
Ah.
She had been discovered?
Fang Yiyi shrank her neck and hesitated over whether to step outside.
The instant she raised her head, a long-handled umbrella flew straight toward her like a javelin.
Its pointed tip was aimed directly at her face.
Startled, Fang Yiyi swiftly ducked back into the bathroom.
The expected sound of the umbrella striking the wall never came.
She leaned forward again and cautiously poked her head out.
At some point, the umbrella had already appeared in Li Ting’s hand.
Li Ting’s expression was colder than anything Fang Yiyi had ever seen before.
“Tongtong!”
