Carrying My Senior's Coffin (GL) - Chapter 22
Li Ting stood sideways, allowing Fang Yiyi to see half of her face.
Even though Fang Yiyi was already used to Li Ting’s cold expressions, the ice in her eyes still made her shiver.
Director Tong, however, stood at the center of the storm and seemed completely unaware.
She was trapped in her own world.
It had taken her enormous courage to finally confess feelings she had kept buried for nearly twenty years, only for the person she loved to reject her before she had even finished speaking.
The blow was too great.
She could not accept it.
“Why?! I refuse to accept this!” Director Tong shouted. “What’s so good about her?! She’s timid, weak, ordinary, and selfish! How is she better than me? How could she possibly deserve you—!”
Before she could finish, Li Ting moved.
Director Tong let out a muffled groan.
In the next second, Li Ting dragged her back inside the barrier, seized her throat with one hand, and slammed her against the door.
The back of her head struck the wooden panel with a dull thud.
Fang Yiyi jumped in fright.
Seeing Director Tong’s face grow increasingly red from lack of oxygen and her eyes gradually lose focus, she hesitated briefly.
Then, risking being beaten herself, she ran over barefoot, grabbed the edge of Li Ting’s sleeve, and gently shook it.
“Senior, Director Tong is about to die. Please don’t kill her…”
Li Ting did not spare her even half a glance.
Her arm slowly rose.
Director Tong’s feet, enclosed in elegant high heels, gradually lifted from the floor.
Fang Yiyi: “!!!”
Someone was about to die right in front of her.
She anxiously said, “Senior, you’ve known each other for so many years. She doesn’t mean you any harm either. She doesn’t deserve to die. Please show mercy.”
Li Ting remained unmoved.
Fang Yiyi’s face turned deathly pale.
She had already started imagining what prison meals looked like.
However, Fang Yiyi’s soft, sweet voice successfully provoked Director Tong.
She forced her eyes open and glared at Fang Yiyi with hatred.
Using what little oxygen she had left, she struggled to say, “Bah! You little green tea! I don’t need your fake kindness!”
Fang Yiyi: “…”
Ma’am!
Is this really the time for that?
Fang Yiyi felt exhausted.
Unfamiliar voices came from the hallway.
“I told you no one was here, but you wouldn’t believe me.”
“That can’t be right. I clearly heard someone talking. It sounded like someone confessed to a person who was already taken, got rejected, and said she couldn’t accept it.”
“Huh? Then she deserved it, didn’t she?”
There was another burst of rustling.
“Wait, isn’t that Dormitory 404?”
“I think so… Let’s hurry and leave. This room is creepy and mysterious. It’s terrifying.”
“True. We probably heard wrong.”
Their footsteps gradually faded away.
Li Ting loosened her grip.
Director Tong dropped to the floor and leaned against the door, coughing violently, taking far more breaths out than in.
Fang Yiyi stood where she was and said nothing.
Had Director Tong not insulted her just now, Fang Yiyi might have poured her a glass of water.
But now…
Forget it.
What if Director Tong threw it all over her?
Li Ting said, “Get out. If there’s a next time, I’ll kill you.”
Fang Yiyi’s heart skipped.
She was terrified that this foolish director would say something else to provoke Li Ting.
If it happened again, Fang Yiyi could guarantee Director Tong would absolutely die here today.
Fortunately, Director Tong still had some instinct for self-preservation.
She did not dare keep testing Li Ting’s limits.
She weakly pushed herself upright, looked longingly at Li Ting, then gave Fang Yiyi one final vicious glare before slowly walking out while clutching her throat.
Fang Yiyi noticed a horrifying black strangulation mark faintly visible between Director Tong’s slender fingers.
The door slammed shut on its own with tremendous force, fully revealing the bad mood of whoever had closed it.
Fang Yiyi startled easily.
Even though she had watched it happen, she still instinctively shrank her shoulders.
Then an arm wrapped around her waist and swept her onto the bed.
The world spun.
Li Ting’s increasingly beautiful face appeared above her, filling her entire vision.
“Senior…”
Fang Yiyi smiled ingratiatingly and boldly wrapped her arms around Li Ting’s slender waist.
Li Ting remained expressionless.
“She wanted you dead, yet you still begged for her life?”
There was little emotion in her voice, but Fang Yiyi still felt as though those words were merely the visible tip of an iceberg.
If she answered poorly, she would definitely crash into it.
In an instant, countless possible answers flashed through her mind.
I did it for your sake.
You used to be friends.
She loves you deeply.
I was afraid you would regret it.
Every answer centered on Li Ting.
In the end, Fang Yiyi said, “She’s still the director, after all. I was afraid that if she died in Dormitory 404, it would cause a lot of trouble.”
“I might get dragged into it, go to prison, or be expelled.”
Li Ting seemed satisfied with that answer.
The corner of her lips lifted slightly.
First, she pinched the tip of Fang Yiyi’s nose.
Then her fingertip slowly trailed downward along her skin, sliding over her neck before hooking away the bath towel.
The room filled with intimacy.
By the time they finished, it was already evening, and Fang Yiyi was hungry.
Her first thought was to go to the cafeteria.
However, her entire body felt weak, and she did not want to move.
Then she remembered the three hundred thousand yuan that had just arrived in her account.
Fang Yiyi rolled over from her back onto her stomach and felt around for the phone that had been tossed aside.
Now that she had money, she could order delivery.
In an instant, countless foods she had always wanted but could never bear to buy appeared in her mind.
Food from a certain specialty restaurant.
Coffee from a certain famous café chain.
Dishes from a particular restaurant.
She browsed all three stores and added a large pile of food to her cart.
Then, just as she was about to pay, she exited the app.
She opened a fried-chicken restaurant offering fifteen yuan off orders over thirty yuan and selected a cod burger and an order of popcorn chicken.
Including the delivery fee, the total came to twelve yuan.
Fang Yiyi licked her lips and exited the app in complete satisfaction.
Then she opened the shopping app, found the freestanding punching bag Li Ting had chosen, and purchased it without hesitation.
After doing all that, she tossed her phone aside and lay flat on the bed like a salted fish, staring at the lights of distant high-rise buildings outside the window.
Li Ting walked over, bent one leg, and nudged Fang Yiyi’s waist with her knee.
“Buy a computer. Buy some clothes.”
“Oh.”
Fang Yiyi rolled farther into the bed, picked up her phone, and tapped around for a while.
“Senior, I don’t understand computers. Is this one all right?”
She held the screen up for Li Ting to see.
An unfamiliar-brand laptop appeared on the display.
It came in a baffling dark green and cost 780 yuan.
“As expected of you.”
Li Ting took the phone.
Strangely enough, she even felt a faint sense of relief that Fang Yiyi had chosen a laptop instead of a cheaper desktop tower.
“Hm?”
Seeing Li Ting sit on the bed, Fang Yiyi leaned over.
Li Ting directly searched the official website of a famous computer brand, selected the most expensive white laptop, and placed the order.
It cost tens of thousands of yuan.
Fang Yiyi: “…”
As expected of Senior.
Even her spending had standards!
Li Ting then entered a branded clothing store.
She ignored the reviews and bought solely based on the pictures.
She purchased a large pile of clothes, mostly long dresses in every color, though the styles were all quite similar.
Had Senior grown tired of wearing red dresses?
Fang Yiyi wondered curiously.
She also felt it was a pity.
Honestly, she thought Senior looked especially beautiful in her current red dress—dashing, alluring, and effortlessly seductive with every movement.
Looking at clothes where even one piece cost as much as both of Fang Yiyi’s complete outfits combined, she personally experienced for the first time what it meant to spend money like water.
However, she did not feel particularly distressed.
These funds had technically been earned by Senior anyway.
It was already generous of her to let Fang Yiyi spend any of it.
But soon, Fang Yiyi discovered just how naïve that thought had been.
After buying the clothes, Li Ting glanced at her.
The finger that had been about to close the shopping app paused.
Then she opened the cosmetics section.
She bought expensive lipstick, foundation, and facial masks without even blinking.
At first, Fang Yiyi leaned over to watch the excitement.
The longer she watched, however, the more frightened she became.
Eventually, she simply lay down on the other side and closed her eyes.
Out of sight, out of mind.
This is terrifying.
I probably wasn’t born with the fate to spend money.
Fang Yiyi thought lifelessly.
The next day, Fang Yiyi went to class.
The red cord around her wrist hung loosely, and the Buddhist bead rested just above her lifeline, cool against her skin.
As usual, none of her classmates spoke to her.
She was perfectly happy with the peace.
Because she had continued studying on her own and already had a solid foundation, she had not fallen behind in the coursework.
There was no situation where she bent down to pick up an eraser and returned to discover everyone else had entered another dimension.
During the break, Fang Yiyi gazed outside in boredom.
With one glance, she spotted Director Tong walking past.
Fang Yiyi: “…”
It was already too late to look away because Director Tong had also noticed her.
Director Tong was still dressed like a powerful career woman today, except that she wore a silk scarf around her neck, making her resemble a customer-service operator.
When she saw Fang Yiyi, she did not react much.
Her expression remained normal as she calmly looked away.
She seemed like an entirely different person from the crazed woman of yesterday.
Fang Yiyi sighed in relief.
This was fine.
Better this way, she thought.
There was a laboratory class that afternoon.
Fang Yiyi had kept up with the theory, but she struggled with the practical work.
She asked the professor for help several times.
Even after class ended and all the other students had left, she remained behind, intending to practice the laboratory procedures she had studied over the past two days.
That was when the accident happened.
The door slammed shut with a bang, as though something had violently thrown it closed.
Immediately afterward, the hanging light above her head crackled and spat sparks.
It brushed past the tip of Fang Yiyi’s nose and crashed heavily onto the laboratory bench in front of her.
Fang Yiyi froze for a second.
Then she suddenly remembered where she was standing.
There was also a ceiling fan directly above her.
It was already too late to run.
Without hesitation, she immediately crouched and threw her body to the side.
Using her weight and momentum, she quickly squeezed beneath the table.
At that exact moment, the ceiling fan crashed down.
Its blade-like rotating parts shattered across the place where Fang Yiyi had just been standing.
But Fang Yiyi paid no attention to it.
Because directly in front of her, only a handspan away, half of a human being stood rigidly upright.
It looked as though it had been there for a very long time.
Yes.
Half a person.
Like a gourd split cleanly down the middle, everything had been reduced to one half.
Facing her was a horrifying cross-section.
Only the back half of the head remained.
The ear was still there, but the front half of the face, neck, and body had completely vanished.
The blade used had clearly been extremely sharp, and the cutting technique unnervingly precise.
The internal structures of the human body were visible in perfect detail.
Fang Yiyi could even see the person’s brain rising and falling as though it were breathing.
Yet only the head, neck, and torso remained.
The legs and feet were gone.
Rather than half a person, it resembled half of a mutilated human stump.
“!!!”
Fang Yiyi did not hesitate.
Using her existing momentum, she rolled away.
Taking advantage of her small frame, she slipped directly between the table legs and escaped.
The half-mutilated figure did not move.
Fang Yiyi steadied herself and looked around carefully.
Only then did she realize that, at some point, she had become surrounded by neatly cut sections of flesh and large slabs of meat.
Not only were the cut surfaces perfectly even, but every piece was nearly identical in size.
Yellow fat was visible alongside dark red, bloodstained flesh wrapped around bone.
They appeared to be the person’s limbs.
Strangely, there was no foul smell of blood.
Even so, the sight alone was enough to make her want to vomit.
The visual impact was overwhelming.
Remembering the small pork ribs served in the cafeteria at lunch, Fang Yiyi’s face turned green.
She swore she would not eat anything like that for the next three months.
