Carrying My Senior's Coffin (GL) - Chapter 29
Fang Yiyi’s pupils trembled.
In her mind, she replayed every change in Chen Sike’s eyes, tone, and movements whenever Li Ting was mentioned.
Whether it was the slight widening of her pupils, the way her voice softened, or the unconscious lift at the corners of her lips, every tiny detail revealed affection she could not suppress.
Yet Chen Sike had also been extremely restrained and respectful.
She had not forced Fang Yiyi to arrange a meeting simply because she wanted to see Li Ting, nor had she rashly come to find Li Ting herself.
Her personality was the complete opposite of Director Tong’s.
She seemed gentle and rational.
That was precisely why Fang Yiyi had thought Chen Sike was a good person.
But Senior had said Chen Sike killed her.
After a moment of contemplation, Fang Yiyi’s impression of Chen Sike’s beautiful face instantly transformed from gentle and amiable to vicious and hideous.
She lifted her face toward Li Ting and asked worriedly, “Then why did she come here? Is she still trying to harm you?”
Li Ting shook her head.
“No. She liked me quite a lot.”
“…?”
Then why did she kill you?
Li Ting thought for a moment.
“I think she confessed to me once.”
“Confessed? Did you accept her?”
Fang Yiyi turned around in Li Ting’s arms so that she was facing her.
Her tone was slightly urgent, and an almost imperceptible trace of nervousness appeared in her brown eyes.
Li Ting met her gaze and raised an eyebrow.
“Probably not. I don’t remember clearly. My memories still haven’t fully returned.”
“What do you mean your memories haven’t fully returned?”
Fang Yiyi became anxious.
A long-lost thirst for knowledge suddenly surged within her, scratching relentlessly at her heart and making her desperate to know the answer immediately.
“Then what do we do? How can you recover them all?”
She suddenly thought of something else and murmured with unfocused eyes, “If you agreed, wouldn’t that make me the other woman…?”
Li Ting: “?”
She hooked one index finger beneath Fang Yiyi’s chin and forced her to look up.
A faint smile curved her lips.
“If you want to know, come do something that helps restore my memories.”
“Work a little harder, and I’ll tell you everything. Mm?”
The final sound left her lips slowly, low and slightly hoarse, its ending rising like a soft little brush sweeping over the tip of Fang Yiyi’s heart.
Her heart trembled, and her throat tightened.
She lowered her eyes.
Her long lashes cast soft shadows, while her pale lips parted helplessly like a silent invitation.
Two quiet chuckles rolled from Li Ting’s throat.
No longer restraining herself, she lowered her head and kissed her.
Fang Yiyi lay limply across the bed, turning her face aside to catch her breath.
Li Ting reached over again, and her breath was stolen once more.
Taking in the air Li Ting passed to her, Fang Yiyi clenched the bedsheets tightly between her fingers.
Amid wave after wave of rising heat, she heard Li Ting say, “I think I remembered a few things.”
Tears filled Fang Yiyi’s eyes.
She looked over through the mist, somewhat bewildered by this statement that was thoroughly inappropriate for the situation.
“?”
Li Ting held her from behind.
One hand cupped her softness and squeezed gently.
Feeling the body in her arms tremble with satisfaction, she said, “I’m worried I’ll forget again later, so I’ll just tell you whatever comes to mind.”
Fang Yiyi: “…”
Again?
What did she mean by telling her whatever came to mind?
Did she mean exactly what Fang Yiyi thought she meant—talking the entire time while they were doing it?
Then Fang Yiyi discovered that she did.
For the rest of the night, Fang Yiyi repeatedly felt as though she were dying and coming back to life while listening to Li Ting recount the past.
Her mind was barely capable of thought, yet she still forced herself to focus on two things at once.
It became a night she would never forget for the rest of her life.
Li Ting’s family background was rather melodramatic.
Her father, Li Chenghai, worked in finance and ranked on the national wealth list.
Naturally, plenty of beautiful women were always trying to get close to him.
Li Ting’s mother was one of them.
She was also particularly capable and was the only woman he continued to think about.
When Li Ting was born, Li Chenghai’s lawful wife was still pregnant.
Five months later, Li Ting gained a younger half-sister named Li Yu.
Li Chenghai had two daughters, one inside his marriage and one outside it.
He believed daughters would eventually marry, so he still needed a son to inherit the family business.
Therefore, when Li Ting and Li Yu were two years old, his wife became pregnant again.
His wife had always been frail.
She had been delicately raised from childhood and had grown up surrounded by medicine.
Giving birth to Li Yu had already damaged her health.
This time, after risking another pregnancy, neither mother nor child made it out of the delivery room.
Li Chenghai lost his wife while still in the prime of his life and was devastated.
In order to reassure his deceased wife that someone would take care of him, he immediately brought Li Ting and her mother into the family home.
He registered the marriage, held a wedding, and went on a honeymoon in one seamless sequence.
The young Li Yu watched all this in stunned disbelief.
A two-year-old child had already begun forming memories.
From that moment onward, the seed of hatred was planted in her young heart.
Little Li Yu kept a stern expression every day and ignored everyone.
Whenever she had nothing else to do, she would sit on the balcony and stare blankly at the moon.
At those times, Li Ting would always run over to her.
Sometimes she brought an apple.
Sometimes she carried a small cake.
She would hurry over on her short little legs, panting as she delivered them to Li Yu.
If Li Yu refused to eat, Li Ting would bring something else.
Sometimes she made four or five trips back and forth, running until her forehead was covered in sweat.
If she tripped over a step on the way and ruined the cake, she would not cry.
She simply climbed back up, dusted herself off, ran back to get a fresh one, and continued stubbornly until she achieved her goal.
At first, Li Yu rejected her with absolute determination.
Later, she became hungry.
Li Ting’s mother looked at the two little children getting along peacefully and smiled with genuine relief.
When they grew a little older, the two children attended the same kindergarten class.
Li Yu was quiet and rarely spoke.
She preferred playing alone.
A little boy disliked her and tried to bully her.
Li Ting happened to see it and immediately grabbed a small stool and swung it at him.
Her little body lacked enough strength, so she missed.
The boy burst into frightened tears.
Then, while crying, he saw Li Ting raise another stool from beside her classmate.
Terrified, he turned and ran.
He fled while crying, and Li Ting chased relentlessly behind him, gripping one of the stool’s legs.
She swore she would thoroughly teach this shameless bastard a lesson for daring to bully her younger sister.
Later, the teacher heard the commotion and rushed over.
Only then was the boy’s life spared.
The fact that Li Ting’s mother had risen from mistress to wife was no secret.
No one said anything openly, but many secretly looked down on her.
There were even wealthy wives who loved watching trouble unfold.
Whenever they encountered Li Ting and Li Yu alone, they would take advantage of the children’s young age and say all kinds of nasty nonsense.
“Little Li Yu, your father likes your older sister now. He doesn’t like you anymore!”
“Little Li Yu, let me ask you something. Your older sister’s mother knows who you are, but does your own mother know your older sister?”
“Oh my, Little Li Ting’s dress is so much prettier than Little Li Yu’s today.”
Whenever this happened, Li Yu would remain silent, her small fists clenched tightly.
Even if Li Ting tried to pull her away, she would violently shake off her hand.
As time passed, Li Yu became quieter and increasingly withdrawn.
Eventually, she stopped coming downstairs for dinner.
This made Li Chenghai so angry that he would throw down his chopsticks and curse.
Whenever that happened, Li Ting and her mother would exchange a look.
Her mother was responsible for calming Li Chenghai.
Li Ting was responsible for going upstairs to persuade Li Yu.
Their roles were clearly divided.
Once Li Chenghai returned to his room, they would cook Li Yu’s favorite dishes separately and bring them upstairs.
Sometimes Li Ting cooked.
Sometimes her mother did.
In any case, Li Ting genuinely loved this younger sister.
Her mother also sincerely cherished Li Yu as her own daughter.
The turning point in Li Yu’s personality and attitude occurred when she was in fifth grade.
She and Li Ting were no longer in the same class.
One day, Li Yu did not want to go home with Li Ting, so she pretended she had classroom-cleaning duties.
Taking advantage of the large crowd after school, she secretly slipped away.
But the family driver usually picked her up.
She rarely traveled back and forth alone.
After turning left and right several times, she became lost.
Then her bad luck worsened.
She encountered a group of young thugs.
Although she was only a child wearing a school uniform, her backpack and shoes were expensive brands ordinary people could not afford.
After one glance, the thugs concluded that she was a wealthy young lady and decided to kidnap her for ransom.
Only then did Li Yu become frightened.
She ran as fast as her short legs could carry her, screaming for her older sister without even realizing it.
Just as the thugs were about to catch her, a hand reached out from behind a nearby trash bin, pulled her into hiding, and covered her mouth.
Li Yu was startled.
When she recovered and realized the person who had come searching for her was Li Ting, tears immediately began falling.
“Shh… Don’t speak. Don’t cry.”
“Go find Uncle Zhang and tell him to call the police. I’ll draw them away.”
Even at that young age, Li Ting remained extremely calm.
Li Yu appeared stunned with fear and nodded blankly.
Li Ting removed Li Yu’s hair tie.
Following her hairstyle, she quickly tied her own hair into a ponytail.
Before the thugs found them, she rushed into an alley on the opposite side of the trash bin.
“Found her! She’s over there!”
“Quick, chase her!”
Li Ting ran quickly.
For a time, she truly managed to maintain a distance from the thugs.
Once they had disappeared, Li Yu followed Li Ting’s instructions and set out while sobbing to find Uncle Zhang, the driver responsible for collecting them.
But she was still lost.
She wandered in circles until the moon rose over the treetops.
Even after crying until no tears remained, she still could not find a familiar road or see another person.
Terrifying insects chirped in the corners.
She was extremely frightened, cold, and hungry.
Eventually, she found a corner beside a relatively clean wall and decided to rest before continuing her search.
But her small body had already reached its limit.
After sitting for only a short while, drowsiness overcame her, and she fell asleep.
When she woke, she was in a hospital.
Li Ting lay on the small bed beside hers.
One leg was encased in plaster, and bandages covered her entire body.
She had not yet regained consciousness.
Apparently, Li Ting had eventually been caught.
During the police operation, the kidnappers were alerted and nearly killed her.
After that day, Li Yu called Li Ting “Sister” to her face for the first time.
As time passed, they both grew older.
Li Yu’s personality became increasingly cheerful.
She developed into the energetic, sweet young woman Li Ting had always hoped she would become.
She became class president, ranked first in her grade, organized all kinds of class activities, and was extremely popular among her classmates.
Later, the two attended different high schools.
During high school, Li Ting made two particularly close friends: Chen Sike and Tongtong.
Both were remarkably beautiful girls.
Chen Sike was calm and steady.
She handled everything in an orderly manner and liked making plans.
Tongtong was much more spontaneous.
She acted freely, doing whatever idea suddenly came to mind.
According to Tongtong, she and Li Ting had even been neighbors in the same residential area.
However, they had attended different schools, so Li Ting might never have seen her.
The three spent every day together, eating, drinking, shopping, and playing games.
Even their classroom seats were next to one another.
Later, all three applied to the same university and were accepted.
Because of her outstanding grades, Li Ting moved into the legendary independent Dormitory 404, supposedly reserved only for genius students.
Her main reason was that it made it easier for the three of them to eat small hot pots inside the dormitory.
Back then, Dormitory 404 was not a haunted room.
It was a private single dormitory specially established by the university.
There was only one in the entire school, and it was reserved for the student ranked first whose score also reached the required standard.
In other words, simply ranking first was not enough.
The score itself also had to meet the threshold.
During their first summer vacation at university, Chen Sike was preparing to immigrate with her parents.
A few days before leaving, she called Li Ting to a large Serissa tree.
Surrounded by countless tiny white flowers drifting through the air, Chen Sike confessed her feelings.
Li Ting, who was not attracted to women, fell silent for a moment before saying apologetically, “I’m sorry, Keke. I can’t accept.”
She could not date someone so close to her.
She rejected her.
Chen Sike turned and walked away dejectedly, her back appearing lonely and desolate.
The location Chen Sike had chosen for her confession was extremely secluded.
Perhaps she wanted to avoid the embarrassment of being rejected.
Or perhaps, if she succeeded, she had planned to celebrate with a passionate kiss.
In any case, almost no one came there.
Li Ting began walking back.
As she rounded the corner beside a hedge, she unexpectedly met a pair of eyes.
The hatred and murderous intent inside them had not yet been concealed.
They were as sharp and deeply poisonous as a blade and struck directly into Li Ting’s gaze.
She froze briefly.
Then she realized the person was Li Yu.
Li Yu apparently had not expected anyone to be there either.
After her initial panic, she swiftly concealed her emotions.
She moved one hand behind her back and hid the coldly gleaming dagger inside her sleeve.
“Sister, what a coincidence!”
She revealed a brilliant smile completely untouched by darkness.
